Great bar. Love going and I go quite often. Usually at least once a week. The guy named Jared/Jaret is a bit of a jerk. His dislikes include getting mad when he has to throw away napkins left on the bar and being pleasant. His likes include throwing away your drinks before you’ve finished them and catching an attitude. 10⁄10 would return if Jaret isn’t working.

Up for some late night karaōke and a buzz? Sing to your heart’s content, while you kick back with a cocktail. We were surrounded by a friendly bunch that happily cheered people on that went up to perform their fave songs on karaōke. If only I had a working voice that wasn’t hoarse from a recent invasion of laryngitis, I would have loved to get up there and sing a tune or two. Fun times seeing my co-workers get up and belt out some. The bartender was friendly and was happy to give us the run-down on some of their specialty drinks. After a huge dinner, I was still a bit hazy from being overly full, I seriously don’t remember what I had to drink, but it was deee-lish. There was plenty of room for us our group to gather and hang out. It wouldn’t have been a fun night if strange people didn’t come up to you to try to dance with you while in their drunken stupor — all in fun though, trust me!

Pretty regular customer but very close to done with this place. Got bumped a dozen times tonight. The person who signed up right behind me got to sing her song like 10 songs before me and then I kept getting bumped again and again. DJ Alleycat, get it together.

We came here for a night of karaōke. If you want to do karaōke here you must be prepared to do one of two things. Either show up early and get on the list before it is busy or be ready to wait all night for your name to be called. We chose the latter option and the wife and I didn’t wait it out to have our time in the spotlight. Kajun’s is a low ceiling bar in what felt like a genuine New Orleans experience. It was not a touristy spot and the place felt like a local only thing to do. There is a bar on the right back side with restrooms to the left. The stage for the singers is located on the front left of the bar. There is an outdoor area here as well but the main focus is the karaōke. This is not your Japanese style karaōke where you are placed in a room with your friends. It’s you, the stage, and the entire bar watching on. The prompter with the lyrics is visible for you on several screens above the stage and there is also a monitor on the right for the crowd to sign along. Plug in your song selection paired with a stage name in front of the DJ booth and wait for your shining moment.

I like to say I married into karaōke because while I have enjoyed karaōke in the past it didn’t really become a «thing» for me until I started dating my husband. He, on the other hand, has had a long love affair with karaōke and he falls into the category of absolute performer when it comes to singing in front of people. He has specific songs he’ll sing, sometimes dance moves that go along with a certain song, and he has a lot of stage presence. It’s truly an enjoyable experience to head to a karaōke bar with Sir Nicholas. Since having children though our opportunities to karaōke are few and far between. Naturally this meant that when we were away on a grown-ups only trip in New Orleans we had to find a karaōke bar at some point. Kajun’s Pub was that place. It’s a pretty casual place and I like the way karaōke is set up through a computer because you can see exactly where you are in the line up and you can put your song/name in using the screen. The drinks were cheap and the karaōke singers were entertaining. Plus, everyone in our group that wanted to sing was able to, some of them multiple times. So, thanks you Kajun’s for allowing us to take your stage, ruin perfectly good Prince songs, and have a bang-up good time in general!

Cheap drinks, local feel, and singers of all levels come together to have a good time. 11 p.m. on a Sunday and the crowd increased as the night went on.

Awesome bartenders and hosts. Friday and Saturday karaōke are absolutely packed so it takes a long time to do a second song but, that is kinda the price you pay when going to an really dope spot like this.

Once, before running a marathon, I got terrible food poisoning and broke my toe. Being the hometown hero that I am said to be, I pushed on and completed the race. Did I win? Nope. I wish I could say that I crossed the finish line in record time and went to hug the love of my life and later we got married and have beautiful babies. Instead, I was second; or first in a long line of losers. Okay, so that never happened, but do you know what did? I went here with friends for a great time to show them everything amazing that New Orleans has to offer only to get terrible service, bullied by patrons, and extorted for money from the extremely entitled and rude karaōke host. I would like to recommend this bar to everyone I hate to have some warm beer and listen to probably the worst singers ever rattle on until the early morning hours. This could possibly be a test site for Guantanamo Bay torture techniques. If so, they nailed it!

Love this locals hangout for Saints games! You bring your meat and they provide the grill and all the fixings… including baked potatoes and salad! Happy Hour everyday 7 – 7 with $ 2 beers and $ 10 bottomless Mimosas can’t be beat!

Seriously the karaōke lady is awful. Like really awful. She won’t turn up the music no matter how many times you ask her to & she’s on Facebook and ignoring all the people waiting to sing. It’s the worst of the worst. She says a name & waits 10 minutes while she surfs the Internet to call the next person.

I have never been to worse karaōke; and that’s saying a lot. The«dj» couldn’t care less, wasn’t playing right songs and the sound was so low no one could hear a thing — disappointment is an overstatement. I advise with with all the choices out on Nola; I say avoid this place and go somewhere else where the dj is not so distracted by Facebook and smoking that she can’t even make eye contact, because ruining karaōke is like ruining pure joy. #wontbeback

Finally I’ve been able to live out my Beyonce dreams! Kajun’s is so fun! The drinks were strong and very flavorful and bartender was so nice and pleasant. There is a great song collection and the mic and sound are superb. The space is so eclectic and laid back. I loved how easygoing the crowd was and it was jumping in there(probably because the alcohol made everyone sound so good lol). I stumbled outta this place with a smile and I will definitely be back!

Kajun’s is not customer friendly. Bartender would ignore people waiting at the bar to serve her friends. Guy running karaōke showed up late and had a huge attitude. He kept telling people his rules over the microphone. Security guy(if he can even be called that) was a huge meathead. Overall, this bar felt very unwelcoming. Won’t be going back.

I’ve tried a few times to have a good night at Kajun’s. However, the DJ the last two times, a hateful little man who told us his name was David, has made this close to impossible. I don’t know if this is his actual name. Both times I’ve gone were pretty tame Sunday nights. David always appears to be extremely stressed by his job, even in the least stressful circumstances. Maybe he hates karaōke. Maybe he hates drunk people. Either way, why is he still working here, a place that will always entail working around both of those things? My first encounter with David was back in December. After a work Christmas party we ended up at Kajun’s. I signed up for a song, but when my name was called, David insisted that my name was not Emily, and told me to «sit down, bitch.» My friend then tried to sign us up again, at the end of the list. Apparently this was way too much for David, who had her kicked out. Why he took so much offense to us signing up for a song at a karaōke bar, I have no idea. Last night was the first time I tried going back since then. I brought a nice group after playing a show across the street. Of course, David was working the DJ booth, much to our disappointment. There is now a computer to sign up for songs. David’s new job is to sit behind the glass and yell at people who set their drinks next to the computer. It must get tiring doing that all night. Maybe they should add a sign so people stop getting kicked out by David for accidentally breaking his rules. This time, he told my friend, «You can pick up your drink or you can get out.» My friend complied and picked up her drink while saying, «well, I really don’t want to leave, so.» This was too much for David. He had her escorted out by the security guy. After I asked him his name he went out to chat with the security guy about me as well. I thought I was about to get kicked out for asking. That was unnecessary since we all decided to leave after the mood was ruined by our friend getting the boot. It’s safe to say that I won’t be returning until«David» is no longer employed at Kajun’s. There’s no reason to spend my money in a place where my friends are continuously disrespected, yelled at, and subsequently kicked out. It’s an embarrassment when I try to bring people here.

A bouncer here, who refused to identify himself, threw me onto the sidewalk tonight. I had several witnesses. I was waiting for a friend to get to-go beers because I had left my ID at the last place we were at. The bouncer told me to leave, proceeded to push me out the door and push me onto the ground while yelling«Everyone here! She clawed out my eyes and hit me in the chest and the cops have been called!» This is completely false and was physically excessive. I have been a loyal patron of Kajun’s for 7 years, and am appalled and traumatized. I will be contacting the owner and managerial staff as soon as possible.

Oh, kajun’s. I’ve had so many experiences here running the gamut from insane to terrible to amazing, and I could never give anything less than five stars. There’s karaōke every night. Sometimes there’s other stuff too.(My neighbor read poetry the other weekend). If you’re like me and you love to sing, try visiting during the week or getting there around 9:00 when it starts. It gets crowded as hell on the weekends and it will be loud, smoky, and drunk. For people who are coming to party and don’t care much about performance wait time it will be great. Service is almost always fast even when it’s slammed. DJPJ is the best, ever. He does the splits on stage like every time he works. DJ Lady K can be intense but is mostly a boss. There are always a lot of personalities here on stage and off.

First time at Kajun’s Pub, and I had heard many a time about the bar, the myth, the legend… This 24 hour karaōke bar is superb for first-timers and vets of the mimic mic. No one is judge-y, there is no regulars vs newbies song battle going on. It’s very interactive friendly, and it. don’t. stop. It’s a great bar to go, JUST hard enough, when you’ve got something to do the next day. You can sing as loud as you want to and stay as late as you want. I like that there is a very clear spot to order drinks, you don’t go to that spot, you don’t get a drink. It wasn’t difficult to get a drink at all either from the two studious bartenders that night. The drinks were strong enough, and rightfully priced for my bourbon and diets. I did not muster enough courage to sing by myself, but ended up helping a friend out. There is plenty of room on stage for interpretive dancing or entire boy band renditions with synchronized dancing. They had some super current songs, and that’s always great when you’re only throwback go to is Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-a-lot and Part of Your World by Little Mermaid. There is a clear CNN style digital ticker that let’s you know if your 2nd or 22nd, and has an asterisk for if you’re a newb. I like that it’s very sing-a-long friendly as well. DJ Lady K was hosting in a dominatrix-esque corset, and she does not take shit, y’all. I wonder if she dresses that way just for Halloween or year round… I would hope year round! Keep your drinks off the stage and the DJ booth, ’cause this ain’t ya mamma’s house. They run a pretty type ship here. Leave the drunks to the Quarter, right meow. That being said, someone I was with did purposefully drop the mic after a boy band ballad, which now he realizes is more of a literary term, than a thing you actually do at a bar, ’cause Lady K kicked his behind out in two seconds flat. I couldn’t have planned her timing better if I had paid her. Thank you Lady K, I needed to go home and wasn’t getting him out of there any time soon. ;) Promise it won’t happen again. My only real bummer was the smoke. I haven’t had my hair smell that bad from smoke in a really long time, but I didn’t notice it AS much when I was there so don’t worry too much about it. I hope to be back and try out some vocal escapades sooner than later!

I go here mostly when im in the area to see a band at Siberia. I always make it a point to jump in here and grab a few cold ones and listen to people singing. I do not think I will ever be up on stage, but I didn’t say never. Nice mix of people, all ages and types. Sometimes I get carded, which nowadays is flattery, and sometimes I walk in on a poetry thing(cant stand poetry) and I get the evil stink eye glare from everyone in there because I apparently make a lot of noise when walking and interrupted the sonnet about the wool sweater and soggy fedora or something like that. There is a meat thing attached to this place, but I haven’t tried it yet. Im in here for maybe 3 beers and head back across the street. There is nice seating in front, great place to people watch or see the drunk patrons leaving Kajuns, getting on their bikes and heading off in a «S» pattern down the road. There is a huge selection of dranks and the staff is very friendly. There is complimentary water and sometimes a big fishbowl of condoms.
