Came here for breakfast while staying in the French Quarter. Great little hole in the wall spot! We arrived around 9 on a Thursday morning and got a table just fine. There are only probably 8 tables in the whole restaurant so I can see how it would fill up fast. I came specifically for the monte cristo and it was incredible! I asked for the syrup on the side which I would recommend. The breakfast potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had– perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband got the caramel apple and Brie stuffed French toast. Holy cow it was good! This was definitely our favorite meal on our trip to New Orleans!

Popular little place so I’m glad we got in early! It’s a small place, so you have to wait outside for your table. There was a little misunderstanding and we were about to be seated before a couple who was actually ahead of us. The guy in charge really should have taken names because we weren’t really in a line yet(there weren’t many of us yet). Well, we ended up getting seated anyway because the lady ahead of me decided to take the mistake as a personal insult and after huffing and puffing, she stormed off dragging her husband along. The food was great! I had a great bloody mary with plenty of yummy veggies in it. There are three types of bloody marys to choose from. Then for breakfast, I had the crab benedict and love love loved it. No wonder this place gets crowded fast(besides the fact that it’s tiny)!

Their sign says that Jimmy J’s is the funkiest little café in N’awlins, and I agree! This place is tiny and cute. We came for brunch and the food was amazing. I tasted some of my husband’s all meat omelet and breakfast potatoes, which were well-seasoned and tasty. I had the hangover bowl, which was grits, bacon, cheese, egg, tomatoes, and green onion. All that goodness mixed in one bowl. The only thing I would change is the grits were a bit bland for me. If the grits had been flavored in any way(cheese grits?!), the dish would’ve been perfect. I need my food to be very flavorful, so others may be fine with plain grits. There were tons of options on the menu that sounded great, so I’ll definitely be back to try more! I loved this charming little spot. Their unique menu makes them a standout spot in NOLA.

Wow this place is SOGOOD! Located on the edge of the French Quarter, this is a small place tucked away behind stained glass windows. It is very small on the inside but both times we went(yes, we went here TWICE during our trip, it’s that good) there was always at least one table open. Their drinks aren’t a bad value, about $ 5 for something simple. The special they had when we went was a buffalo shrimp poboy. Brian ordered that, and I ordered it the next time we went(haha so addicting). I went for the three little pigs and the big bad chicken sandwich, it was huge! The pace of our meal was great. Great value for what we paid. Glad we stopped in, come here for your NOLA poboy!

Went to Jimmy J’s solely because of the raving reviews of their breakfast. Very small and quirky restaurant. We had a minimal wait. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and a side of bacon. It was a disappointment. The biscuit seemed dry even though covered in gravy. The gravy just didn’t have a good taste. I can’t even explain it. The only thing good about the food was the bacon and the coke. Hopefully the chef was just having an off morning but not sure i’d go back.

This is an adorable and funky little place near the French Quarter. After a long day of driving we were thrilled to find a spot a few blocks from our hotel to grab some inexpensive comfort food. If you want fried shrimp — this is a great spot. If you want a salad with fried oysters — they do that too. My boyfriend even ordered a milkshake with whiskey because — why not? The server was very busy as they were understaffed that night but he had a great sense of humor and was very attentive. It’s a little hole in the wall spot with great food, colorful décor and strong drinks. YUM

Jimmy J’s Café is my new favorite breakfast spot in New Orleans. We walked past it immediately after the McDonalds debacle the day before and vowed to be back. There were lines out the door all weekend, but we immediately got a table on a Tuesday morning. Our server couldn’t have been any nicer and helpful in explaining the menu. My friend opted for the bacon bloody Mary and I opted for the old standby Diet Coke. I tried a sip of the bloody, and if you like bacon then it’s a must. I for one am indifferent at best to bacon, so it was an easy pass. As for breakfast itself, the menu is beyond overwhelming in the best way possible. Good thing we had a great server to help us navigate the million entrée options! We opted for the Eggs Lafitte and Cochone Eggs Benedict respectively. Both were heaping portions of savory eggs and meats. It was definitely the best breakfast I had during my recent stay in New Orleans. My only quasi-complaint about Jimmy J’s is that it is crazy cramped quarters. This restaurant is tiny, the tables are on top of each other, and you don’t want to stay and hang out both due to the interior and knowing there’s usually a long line out the door. With that said, if you’re looking for a delicious Creole breakfast, then Jimmy J’s without a doubt should not be missed.

This place is a typical NOLA surprise. I saw it had good ratings on Unilocal and I wanted quick and easy. It’s right around the corner from the Palace Café, which is always on my list of really great restaurants. But tonight I went astray and so glad I did. Sarah recommended the Blacken Pork Chop and it was absolutely the best. I must say the entire menu looks appealing and I will go back, especially for breakfast.

I had the French toast monte cristo and my wife had the mix vegetable omelet. This is hands down the best place to eat breakfast in Nola. The service was very quick and the food was great and filling at the same time. This is definitely a breakfast place, so the 1 star review by Katie S. isn’t representative of the quality of this restaurant. It’s like going to a pizza place and asking for a salad, well that was her downfall. But hey, I ate there and I had not one complaint. Highly recommend going to this little breakfast spot for those that haven’t been.

Omg Omg Omg THIS is my place for breakfast in Nola. hands down(well so far) the food is fresh, absolutely delicious, plentiful and the dranks are goot goot good! And the lines are long… but so worth the wait, let me tell you So.worth.the.wait However, when you order the server tends to leave out any xtra charges(toast, biscuit)? Yeh, it’s a 1.50.want fruit in that pancake? …yeh it’s 1.00 per fruit(bananas, strawberries) that seemed a little sketchy… but other than that it’s good as a son of a gun.

Bread. Lots of soggy bread for the Blackened Shrimp Po’ Boy $ 13.50? For Tons of bread and four prices of very salty fried green tomatoes, w/about 8 mini frozen blackened shrimp. Was terrible! I was very sad! Oh and my plate had a huge chip in it. Really. ? My Husband had the Shrimp and Oyster Po’ Boy. Again. Tons of bread. A few tiny fried shrimp and couldn’t even find the oysters? What a joke. For $$ 13.00? Only thing decent was the beer! Too many other better places just around corner. I know some dives are great. But not this one!

We had to wait 20 minutes outside in line and when we got inside, I saw why. Very small place that probably seats 20 – 25 only. The waitresses seemed overwhelmed and kept messing up ours/others orders up. I saw one waitress bring plates of food to the wrong tables several of times when we were there. Although our waitress was friendly, I wish she would learn to use a notepad to write down what people order. Cooks in the back messed up my friends order by giving him a plate that was not what he ordered per waitress. I still would recommend them to others because there food was really good. Hopefully they come up with a better serving system soon.

So it’s been a while since I wrote a review and I felt this was the perfect opportunity to get back on track. Today’s review is about the«Funkiest Café» in Nola! My wife, son, and I headed over to try this place out since the reviews were pretty good. Upon arrival around 10am there was a short line out the door which was expected. We only had to wait about 15 minutes or so before getting a table. When we walked in the place is pretty small with only 8 tables for service. I really liked the vibe it had though almost as if I knew it was gonna be good as we sat down. The employees were very nice and very active. I seen cooks come out delivering food and all. We had the eggs Benedict and Banana Foster French toast and a few sides like bacon and grits. My wife enjoyed her Eggs Benedict dish very much, only flaw is one egg was perfectly funny and the other was a little over but no big deal. I had the French toast and this thing was DELICIOUS. Would probably order each time I go. Probably the only flaw is again it’s kinda tight in there and the grits came out cold. Other than that it deserves a solid 4 stars!

Little out of the way spot. It’s very small only a few tables. Thankfully we found a spot and didn’t have to wait. Ordered the eggs ranchero with a side of home fries. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Delicious! The eggs were cooked well and had just the right amount of spice. Loved the crispy tortilla on the bottom. If you’re in town definitely recommend trying. Service was fast and staff were nice and helpful.

Great breakfast at this funky little caf with only 8 tables inside. We were fortunate to arrive when there were seats available. When we left there was a long line waiting and it was raining! We had the Irish coffee to start. I had a mushroom and goat cheese omlet with bacon– yum. My spouse had the Monte Cristo french toast with a side of grits. The French Toast was very very good and the grits were just ok(not bad but not great either). Our server was friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience.

The breakfast here was very tasty. We were lucky we didn’t have to wait and were seated as soon as we arrived. By the time we left, there was a long line outside so try to get there early. The service was very good and the food came out quickly. We shared the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were big and the gravy was the perfect texture! They had one of the specials… Apple Brie French Toast. That was definitely the show stealer. Wow! It had just the right amount of melted Brie in the middle of the French toast and it was surrounded by a delicious syrupy sauce.

Pretty funky café ½ block from Canal Street. I visited for sunday brunch on a recent trip to New Orleans and arrived at the perfect time. There are only around 8 tables, and 5 were filled when I arrived. 5 minutes later. There were abut 5 parties that showed up and many had to wait out in the rain. We ordered the cochon eggs benedict, a steak & eggs, and a traditional bloody mary. Everything was delicious, but the best dish was the tender and flavorful skirt steak. Service was very attentive and I would come back if it isn’t a long wait.

After walking around the Garden District for half the morning in blistering heat, my mom and I were in desperate need of food & drink. Not a block or two from our hotel in the CBD, we found heaven also known as Jimmy J’s. Our waitress, Gigi, was very friendly and immediately brought us water and a carafe of their house red wine sangria. The carafe is about the same price as two glasses and you get double the amount of sangria for the same cost. On Gigi’s suggestion, we each ordered a bowl of their shrimp and grits– New Orleans’s BBQ shrimp on a bed of cheese grits. This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had and I still dream about the shrimp & grits at Jimmy J’s. This is definitely a casual eatery with a lot of heart. If your ever in the Quarter and need a quick lunch of soul-filling food, drop by Jimmy J’s.

Found this place on Unilocal and it was across the street from our hotel. Great place to eat. We had breakfast there first and it was amazing. The crab cake Benedict was amazing with the jalapeño Hollandaise sauce. The home potatoes were also quite tasty. Wait staff is attentive and nice. The building itself is small and there is usually a line to get in for all meals. The wait is not too long since the food delivery is fast for being made fresh. The wait however is worth it. If you have a large party come early. Easier to get a couple in before a large group. Over all great food, customer service, and ambiance.
