Food here is fantastic. We order the firecracker shrimp and was awesome. Also the chicken ad sausage gumbo is to die for. Drinks are awesome starting with a Bloody Mary

Following a late morning meeting, a group of six, including me, decided to try Huck Finn’s for lunch. Fortunately for us, it was still a few minutes before 12 noon and there was lots of available seating, including an 6 top table that seated us comfortably. Being a sucker for a good hot sausage sandwich, I opted for the Cajun Burger. This local twist on a «combo» burger is made with«¼ pound hamburger and ¼ pound hot sausage patty topped with bacon and your choice of American, cheddar, Swiss or provolone cheese(cheddar for me) and comes dressed with Cousin’s sauce, lettuce, tomato and pickles». I’m not quite sure what makes up the Cousin’s sauce, but it’s definitely mayo based and may have a touch of remoulade sauce infused in it. The burger itself was pretty good and very juicy, as nothing ruins a good burger more than overcooking it and drying it out, especially one infused with hot sausage. But all in all it was a solid burger. The cross cut waffle fries were another story. They were either completely overcooked or fried in oil that was entirely too hot; or perhaps a combination of the two. Either way, there were not a success. Our server was attentive enough to be considered overly competent, but not attentive enough to be considered excellent. Also, consider me old fashioned, but $ 12.00 is a little pricey for a burger. So there you have it; a pretty good restaurant that probably will not disappoint you. On the flip side, it probably won’t leave you wanting to hurry back soon either. Just your average French Quarter fare.

Food was pretty good. My one complaint was the service was a little slow.

The name is a little catchy, so we assumed the food was not remarkable — but we were surprised. We actually patronized it because it was on the Krewe De Vieux French Qtr parade for Mardi Gras and a block off the street car line. We were looking for food and convenience with parade access. Our cocktails were EXCELLENT, well-prepared. We ordered boudin balls for our appetizer. My companion ordered a Cajun Burger and I had gumbo. The boudin balls were quite good, as was the gumbo. The Cajun Burger was EXCELLENT and my companion couldn’t stop eating it. He has since mentioned that it was the BEST burger he’s ever had and that we should plan to eat there again. Our server was delightful, attentive, and seemed to take extra effort to make sure our experience was pleasant. She was very personable.

It’s your diner/café type feel inside. Could use some updating and where was the theme? I saw one mural of steam boats on the wall and that was it. Anyway, awesome po boy! Had the roast beef po boy and it had the freshest bun, best gravy, and nicest most tender meat ever.

This is my first time here and I haven’t even gotten the food yet. I have been waiting for about 45 minutes now for food. Hopefully it is good but this is definitely not the place to come if you need a quick/normal timed bite to eat. It also looks like they are short staffed or something so our waiter is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Not a good place to be when you have a concert to get to. :-/… We finally got our food after about and hour and a half of waiting and it was actually delicious. I got the shrimp quesadilla(which is definitely an entrée and not an appetizer) and my boyfriend got the catfish po-boy. Both were very good so if you have the time to wait then definitely try it!

We stopped in here for quick breakfast before heading out to our swamp tour. This location was the meet up spot for our transportation. I actually didn’t even look it up first, I trusted my gut and sat down to eat. I had the grand isle skillet. BOMBDOTCOM. Who would’ve thought shrimp and eggs go so well together? Oh, you’ve tried it? Well it was my first time and they made it work. The dish is served in a cast iron skillet and it was oozing with goodness. Their mimosas are cheap and tasty and I of course took some to go. The service was awesome. From the hostess to the busboys and our waitress — all of them greeted us with a huge smiles and knew exactly how to serve their customers. So I’m pretty surprised at the average rating. The restaurant is a bit lackluster and located on the quieter side of the quarter. It looks like a regular olé pub bar but it is huge. The food and service were beyond my expectations. Give this place a shot.

I’m writing this as I’m waiting for my food. Know why? Because there’s only one waiter for a bigass section and we’ve been here for two hours and no entrees yet. ******* This was one of the only places open during the Sugar Bowl/New Year weekend that did not have a line out the door. This should have been a red flag, but the restaurant was clean, had gorgeous brick walls, plenty of seating and TV’s. Jheran was our waiter and he was beyond sweet. He was also slower than molasses. This may not be his fault though. He was the only server for about 10 tables, two of which were 6 – 8 tops. He would be missing for about 5 – 10 minutes at a time; no where to be found. In one hour, my four-top was delivered 2 drinks per person. My mom had to flag down the bartender to grab one of her DRAFT beers 30 minutes from the time the order was placed. We were seated next to the bar, so we saw our drinks sitting, waiting to be run the entire time, while the bartender was chatting it up with two female tourists. Food: The duck empanadas were tasty. The fried pickles are your average fried pickles. The wraps on the menu are not wraps. They’re more like quesadillas. The food is greasy and obviously cold by the time it hit our table. The bartender was the straw with the biggest mouth that broke the camel’s back. He had tattoos and wore a button-up shirt that was about 2 sizes too small. He had the loudest & dirtiest mouth in the entire restaurant. My table(which happens to include my mother) could overhear all of his disgusting stories he was telling the tourists. Here’s a fun sample without all the F-bombs he managed to fit in: «We got kicked out of the strip club for taking pictures». «That broad texted me asking me why I wasn’t answering and I told that b*tch. blah blah» «I used to work out, but I got too f***ing big, and. blah blah» He was such a tool. He never helped run drinks out as it was piling up at the service station. He made mediocre mixed drinks. The wooden muddler dropped off the bar and onto the floor. My friend picked it up and handed it to him. NOJOKE, he took it from her and put it BACK in the cup full of straws. That was the most disgusting and unprofessional thing I have ever experienced in a restaurant, and he did it shamelessly in front of everyone. Of course, no manager in sight. Stay classy, Huck Finn.

I had the blackened shrimp salad. It was so incredibly good. Hubby had the roast beef po-boy. He could not even finish it because it was so big but oh so tasty. The prices are reasonably. The wait staff was very nice but not very attentive.

The food here is well above average for a sports bar. Plenty of tvs for watching the game. To say that the eervice is a bit of a cluster*** is an understatement — when we arrived there was a line out the door and we were told they would not seat anyone until everyone in the house got their food… I have never heard of anything like this before… but it didn’t matter much when we came to camp out for football.

We visited last Wednesday night. Our bartender/server went out of his way to make our visit a great one. Had the gumbo, which was great. I also had a fried shrimp platter that was pretty standard but good. The drinks were delicious.

Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this place. We had a group of friends coming and this would be our first night in town. I had contacted Huck Finn’s and Kirby got back to me and was incredible. He let us have the whole bar area(there were 60+ of us) and even extended the happy hour for us. Now, the staff during our visit… A W E S O M E ! We weren’t customers who would sit at a table, everyone was walking around, so how those servers kept up with each of us, I don’t know but they did. AND with a smile on their faces! Food: I had the sausage Po’ Boy and it was sooooo good! I definitely recommend it. Drinks: They have a full bar so think of a drink and they’ll make it. They even have a specialty drink menu if you cannot think of a drink(like me). Check this place out. They have a Happy Hour until 7PM(2 for the price of 1) and definitely consider this place when if you need a place for a large group.

After a long wait, I was very irritated and ready to go. Carl was our waiter and was very busy with other patrons. He stated the manager wasnt supposed to sit us in his area, so that made me even more perturbed. Carl continues to tell us he would be with us and about 20 minutes later he finally was with us. If it wasnt for his outstanding service I would have gave them one star. First he bought our drinks for us to make up for the weight. The Bloody Mary is one of the BEST that I’ve ever had. The food was pretty good also. I had The Mark Twan salad which was excellent. I also had a cup of Etouffe which was seasoned to perfection. The rest of the table also stated they enjoyed their food. Once Carl was with us, he remained attentive to our table. Without request, he also took $ 23.00 off our bill for waiting. IF you can get Carl, he will make your eating experience great along with the food.

This is a good sports bar kind of place. If you want to catch a game over meal time with a drink or two, it’s not a bad choice. I’ve been twice, the second time better than the first. Crawfish etouffe is pretty good, and I enjoyed the shrimp po boy. You can do a lot better in New Orleans for amazing food, but if you’re hungry and want a convenient place to catch a game, it’s worth a stop. Friendly, prompt service. Don’t expect to have the best meal of your trip here and you’ll be all right.

I am really not understanding why my initial review was removed. Everything here was great except our server seemed like she smoked too much weed before work. She was very slow, giggling about everything, & couldn’t stand straight to save her life. Why can I not express my true experience without my review being removed? The food was good. I cannot remember what we ordered however since we visited in August. A guy from the kitchen kept coming out to clear our table once we were finished. Probably because our server was slow, he knew it & wanted to get out of there soon since it was close to closing time. Anyway, food tastes great! Kitchen staff, great! Server, meeeehhhhh. Let’s see if my review gets removed again.

I joined a group of colleagues for lunch during a conference. I ordered the BBQ pork nachos while others ordered chicken pasta, shrimp pasta, grilled type sandwich or salad. We asked about the nachos when the other food came out and. He explained it was almost ready and they were going in the oven. I told the waiter to go ahead and cancel my order. He said it was almost ready. As others asked for to-go boxes I asked to pack mine to go. My nachos came out with everyone’s to go boxes. I was only able to taste the nachos before paying and hurriedly waking out. I don’t have a microwave in my hotel room so they went to waste. I’m so disappointed that I paid for something I couldn’t eat. While they tasted good I should have insisted on canceling my order and the waiter should have honored my request. For this reason I can only give this establishment one star.

Can we not? We should just not. At best the food was mediocre. Don’t order the fried catfish. They use the same breading for all the fried entrees. I cannot abide the same breading on my catfish and my chicken fingers. It’s not a good look. Neither I nor my friends will be dining at Huck Finn’s again. We were not made to feel welcome and then after a lackluster meal we received a healthy dose of racism along with our receipt. When someone(in this case an establishment) shows you who they are, believe them.
