We checked this place out for brunch while vacationing. This was my second time visiting, so I was looking for something unique and not touristy. The French Quarter is littered with touristy restaurants that sell Po’boys, crawfish, beignets etc… it’s hard to separate the truly quality restaurants there from the posers. This is a delightful breath of fresh air(in more ways than one, as it’s not on Bourbon Street and therefore you don’t lose your appetite on the way there if you’re walking). As mentioned before, we went there for brunch. I’ve mentioned it before, I personally think brunch is easily the stupidest and most overrated meal ever… and that’s including Taco Bell’s «4th Meal»(as if we weren’t fat enough). But this place was New Orleansy without being overly so. It was a clean décor with a good classic rock soundtrack(Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, and The Doors were played more than once). The name is kind of bad and non-descript, but it doesn’t matter what it’s called if the food is good. I ordered the poached eggs benedict on boudin cakes(boudin is a sausage that is mixed with rice, and quite tasty, if unnecessarily carby). It was delicious. It also came with a crumbly biscuit, a little dry(I like biscuits that are two minutes past the batter stage), but the rest of my group enjoyed theirs. The other three members of my party ordered omelets which were the size of a Qdoba burrito, and packed to the gills with mushrooms, artichokes, mozzarella and mustard greens. They were devoured without prejudice(haven’t used the word prejudiced in a while. I feel like a sleazy attorney, which describes most attorneys. I am prejudiced against them, but they deserve it). I really enjoyed this place. I would like to go back next time for lunch or something. It’s just hard to return to a restaurant when you’re in a foodie city unless it blows your mind. I can’t necessarily say I would make it a point to return to this place when I go back to New Orleans, but I might…(Reader thinks: thanks for the non-answer, you commitment-phobic dink). IFTHISRESTAURANTWERE A MUSICIAN/BAND. The Band: Much better group than name.(once again, a weak analogy, I’ve got better ones for other reviews that I am planning to write.)

My family loves this place in the Quarter for brunch. It’s never disappointed us. The eggs Dumaine is their version of eggs Benedict and it’s spectacular. Today they made homemade raspberry jam for the biscuits that all of us enjoyed. Relatively small with approx 12 – 15 tables in it so you may get there and wait — but won’t wait long.

The most atrocious place. Please do not go here. I wanted to eat here, I called in advance they told me they can’t take reservations. I came in around now the most nastiest waiter told me you can’t come in here and eat. Excuse me? «Yes we’re fully booked you can’t eat here» «my manger tells me what to do and I do it» really? This is southern hospitality !!! People in New York City are nicer than you?’ I have never been more disgusted in an establishment in my life. I hope your«eat» restaurant goes to sh_t! Thanks bye!

Happened upon this place as we were bimbling around and stopped in for a very good lunch… everything was excellent… the place had a nice vibe and service was spot on… The fig and blue cheese tart was spectacular… not so much a tart as a huge slab of blue cheese interspersed with figs :-) YUMMY! :-) Definitely a recommend…

I would give it 4.5 stars. Food was very good! Nick was our server and he was great. Very appreciative of his genuine friendly personality. I had the special, fish over asparagus and it was all done perfectly! My friend had a seafood fettuccine and said it was delicious as well. The atmosphere is friendly and bright.

I love giving 5 Stars when they are deserved! I also only give them for the portion of my visit and the menu items we tried/tasted/ordered! Eat New Orleans was the most memorable meal we had on our long weekend visit. From the minute we walked in the door until we left it was nothing but 5 Stars. A gentleman greeted us immediately with a very friendly smile and a table right next to the window so we could enjoy the scenery(aka people watch)! We were then immediately given waters and shortly our waitress approached. There’s no alcohol served here but you can bring your own and there’s a bar right across the street! I stuck with the specials and had Soft Shell Crab with Poached Eggs & Biscuit along with the Lime Waffle. Eggs to absolute golden gooey perfection and soft shell crispy and light. The drop biscuit is heavy and dense, perfect for sopping up that glorious egg! The lime waffle with lime curd and whipped cream melted in my mouth! Service throughout the entire meal was professional, highly trained and super friendly — definitely the kind that makes you go back! Maybe some day we’ll return to this crazy weird city and I know for sure, if we do, we’ll be back to Eat New Orleans!

We thought long and hard where we wanted our last meal in the Quarter to be and everyone wanted something a little different. ENO seemed to have something for everyone so we made a go of it. At first glance, the esthetic were great; cool and modern. It was rather chilly in the restaurant after about 15 mins. I was rather glad to get back outside after dinner to warm up. Now… on to the foods. First, they don’t serve alcohol. No bother to us, but you should know so that if you wish you can bring your own. We had four in our party. We started off with the Fried Green Tomatoes, and the Crawfish Boullettes. The tomatoes were bland. The boullettes were delicious. Almost ordered a second to-go order but was pretty full after the meal. Doug’s Chicken Sandwich — UN-remarkable. It was a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese. Cochon With Mustard Greens with a side of red bean and andouille sausage — The cochon was tender and flavorful but wasn’t traditional. The red bean gumbo wasn’t a gumbo. It was the consistency of refried beans(read: bean paste) with sausage in it over rice. Not what we were looking for and hardly touched it. Crawfish Boil Stew — this was the best dish of the night. Very tasty and came out as expected. Pork Tenderloin and baked mac & cheese — This entire dish was a disaster and I can’t believe this made it past the window. The caramelized onions where chopped. I’ll let that stand on its own. The portion was four small slices, which was disappointing, but whatever… I had over eaten all week so I wasn’t bothered too much. But then I realized it had been pan fired and was so overly cooked that the two«large» pieces were so burnt I couldn’t even cut through them. At this point I was sending it back but I might as well eat my mac and cheese. And by mac and cheese I mean spaghetti noodles that had be sprinkled with Parmesan. I had to add salt and hot sauce to salvage it. We thought that the restaurant was just young and inexperienced… but we were informed it was 10 years old. So we’ll chalk it up to a bad night. The two stars were because the crawfish stew was good. But when there are so many better options to choose from, we probably won’t be back.

Overall, this was my favorite meal in New Orleans. It represents a version of contemporary Southern comfort food that isn’t readily available in the quarter. It’s absolute must — especially when you get overly sick of the tourist traps closer to the river. While it leans on the pricier side, the large portion size easily compensates. For the amount of food we got, we could easily be paying more than $ 40 in NYC. We got the chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese, blackened catfish sandwich, and stuffed bell peppers. The chicken and dumplings was one of the most comforting meals I had ever had. It was like getting a much-needed hug. The bell peppers were delicious, loaded significantly over the brim with butter, and take you into a food coma ¼ of the way through. The blackened catfish was also delicious but paled in comparison of the other two. ENO is also noted for its farm-to-table sourcing to support the local food system. Now Eat New Orleans could have gotten five stars but the service is… unrealistically slow. A meal that was intended to be an hour was stretched to two and a half hours because of the pace of the wait staff. Our whole group was comprised of fast-moving New Yorkers and we were not amused.

This was without a doubt my best meal during my stay in New Orleans. Pricey? Sort of. Worth it? 100% A lot of food places are hit and miss in the area, but Eat NOLA definitely hit the nail on the head. We came on a Friday for dinner but there was a 40 minute wait, we came back on a Sunday afternoon for a 20 minute wait. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations, but we simply walked around the few blocks in the area since it is located in the French quarter. We were told to come to come here by a friend who moved to the area 1 year ago. Needless to say, I believe it was worth it.

«Sorry we’re open» This is long overdue as we dined here in December… but this was our first meal in NOLA and it did not disappoint. I had the crab and shrimp fettuccine($ 18) which was so decadent and delicious. Their menu is huge with tons of apps and entrée options but make sure you come here a little earlier for dinner as they run out of a lot of things on the menu :( Lovely little place with a great ambience. Can’t wait to come back here next month for Jazz Fest!

This was our first stop in New Orleans and after the 8 hour drive we were all starving, moody, and ready to get some real Cajun food! Of course the first thing I did was open up Unilocal and scope what was around us for help! Eat New Orleans has really great reviews and we were just a block or two away so we figured why not! We were seated immediately and even though it was Mardi Gras weekend the wait staff seemed overwhelmed but were very friendly and attentive. Between our whole table, we tried a good portion of the menu and I was not disappointed at all! Everything tasted so fresh and well made, not overly or under spiced or cooked! Yum! One a random side note I have literally never had a caesar salad taste quite like that one, I have no clue what version of dressing they used but it was SOFREAKINGGOOD! Not to mention unique! Everything came out quickly and it is obvious that many of the locals really love this place, I can see why. My boyfriend travels back and forth from Nola often so I have no doubt we will be back soon!

~I’m basing my review on their brunch menu~ We were a party of four and overall, the food and service was fantastic. I ordered the big breakfast which was delicious and easily shared with my daughter. Their biscuit, gravy, and fried chicken is the best I have tasted so far in the area YUM! The Eggs Benedict was outstanding as well, and my other food snob daughter ate every bit of it. Although I didn’t try the garden salad with chicken, it looked great and my friend said it was very good. Definitely a good place for breakfast/brunch. They also offer standard breakfast items if you want something more simple.

Chose to go here after reading all the positive Unilocal reviews, even though they do not have an ABC license. The soul food spoke for itself supposedly. We were greeted by 2 very nice employees; one of whom turned out to be our server. He was so high, we couldn’t carry on a conversation. I was concerned we wouldn’t have a positive experience but we plundered on. My fiancé ordered the deviled eggs with bacon as a starter. Eggs had been made far in advance and were so ice cold they were flavorless. I had the fried green tomato remoulade as a first course. I was pleasantly surprised each tomato was topped with a shrimp that was perfectly cooked. The remoulade was mustard-based and very bitter. For the main course, I chose to just have some sides. The macaroni and cheese was actually cut spaghetti and cheese, something I’d never encountered when ordering this dish. It was ok, not what I was expecting. I also ordered their smothered greens, which were supposed to be smothered in onions and vinegar… well, I think I actually got just the plain turnip greens… no onions and definitely not smothered. My fiancé got the chicken fried chicken, which he said was salty. His sides were the butter beans with shrimp and rice. They were tasty and well-seasoned. We were both full at this point so we ordered desert to go. Their flourless chocolate peanut butter cake was highly recommended by our server. When we got home and tasted it, it was so dry I had to throw it away… it was not even palatable. Overall, I was very disappointed in the food and in my experience in this restaurant. I will not return.

This is some of the best food in the area, with real mildly-spicy Cajun/Creole food. I’d come here over Sylvain, which is not quite as good of food, but 3x as expensive. It’s also nice, if you’re staying in the French Quarter as I was, to get off the beaten path into a quieter area for a bit. The crawfish is very good. It’s BYOB, but you’re in NOLA, you can wait until after dinner to get your drinks.

My husband and I enjoyed brunch here after passing by — perfect poached eggs, the fresh fruit was actually worthwhile, the pie was fantastic, the coffee was plentiful, and the service was perfect. We, me and my husband, had an excellent dinner here! Tried the crawfish boulles/balls as an appetizer and they were divine!!! Loved the homemade remoulade they came with. I decided to go here for a late dinner, trying to avoid all the fuss of Bourbon St and was delighted to see it was fairly low-key, but decently busy. The Shrimp and Crab Fettuccine with a side of Fried Green Tomatoes was fantastic. I had just ordered water with my meal without realizing there wasn’t any alcohol on he menu. To my surprise, I saw someone carry in a six pack! It was my first time seeing that in NOLA, so I was a bit shocked. Soon I realized it was BYOB and there’s a corner market nearby where you can pick up liquor. There’s a «corking fee» if you decide to bring more than one bottle or six-pack. Super classy yeah? But at the same time, super awesome!

I am saying 4 stars because the food was that good but if you go, just know that the service is more like a 2.5−3. Kind people just very slow and perhaps a bit unorganized. Now the food… my husband ordered the frog legs as an appetizer(special that day). He said they were delicious and while I didn’t try them I found the fried artichoke hearts they were served on to be mighty tasty. The Caesar salad had good flavor but could have used a bit more dressing. For our entrees, he got the crawfish boil stew and I had the shrimp and crab fettuccine. Both were excellent. As a side he had the mac & cheese which he liked but I found it a bit strange in the texture department because it’s made with spaghetti noodles. I had the grilled vegetables and maybe the flavor just didn’t mesh with my pasta but I wouldn’t order them again. We walked in at around 6 pm and got a table but right after us there became a wait if 30+ minutes. Half the tables in the place were reserved and have of those were still empty when we left. So overall, go but bring your patient pants.

This is possibly out favorite NOLA food spot. Everything from the apps to the desert to the service is SPOTON! It’s incredibly welcoming and the food is ahhhhmazing. We first learned of this out of the way spot from a server at another spot and went for Friday evening dinner. Brent, our server was ever welcoming and even gave us some suggested as to out of the way«non tourist-y» spots to visit. He was also spot on w dinner suggestions(duck for hubs, chicken fried chicken for moi). Then he mentioned that EAT does brunch. Um, yea! We went back the next morning for brunch which was also amazing! I had crab cakes Bennie and husband had big b’fast(be warned-it is!). All in all amazing. But it is BYOB. It’s located across from a school and for some reason this is the liquor law LA is uptight about. Lol. So, be sure to bring your own spirits. There is no cork fee for the first bottle.

This place was right down the street from our hotel, the Inn on St. Ann. We went for brunch and LOVED it. The staff was super friendly and the place itself had a really cool atmosphere/vibe. Décor was modern and trendy. We had the fried chicken with eggs, biscuits, and gravy and the shrimp and grits with poached eggs. Both were awesome. Would definitely come here again next time in NOLA! So we found this place on Unilocal and saw it was literally a block from our hotel St Pierre. My sister and I had walked in a were given a cute two person table by the window. We lucked out as we seemed to get the last table in the cosy but trendy looking place. Yellow plastic chairs and crisp white table cloths covered the tables. I ordered the fried catfish with fried green tomatoes while my sister ordered the chicken and dumplings with the sautéed greens. The entrees came with a basic small green salad; next our entrees arrived — my catfish was delicious barely could taste any fish flavor and heavily breaded. The lemon flavored tartar type sauce was a tasty dipping condiment paired with some crystal hot sauce. The green tomatoes were tasty and fried lightly. I took a few bites of my sister’s chicken and dumplings. Tasty but not outstanding and unfortunately the greens were not good at all. Bitter and lacking flavor almost inedible. Odd considering we are in the deep south but I believe they were trying to cook them in a healthier manner with out pork? We had bignets at Café Dumonde earlier so we passed on dessert. Although prices were pretty reasonable and service was adequate with so many food options in NOLA would not return on another visit or recommend to others.

The food: I’ve been here a few times. I’ve tried the biscuits and gravy as well as the blueberry French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and grits. The bacon here has a smoky flavor to it, and the grits are creamy and not quite as gritty as you’d expect. Both are delicious! It doesn’t matter what I order here, I’m always satisfied. I also have to say that I love the coffee here. I enjoy a fancy coffee every now and then, but nothing beats a nice cup of black coffee, and that’s something that this place has perfected. The coffee is strong and rich. As a coffee drinker, I appreciate that. The atmosphere: This place is casual but should not be underrated. It’s a relaxing atmosphere which is perfect for brunch. The tables are cute, and I love the comfortable chairs. EAT has a bit of a «hipster» feel to it. The atmosphere here is welcoming to people of all ages and backgrounds. The staff: I am always happy with the service that we get here. All of the staff here are friendly and happy to help. The servers here are quite attentive to what’s happening at the table. You’ll never go thirsty here; they’re sure to take care of you. It’s always a pleasurable experience at EAT. This is definitely one of my favorite places for brunch.

I was pretty excited to eat here, after checking out the menu before hand. It certainly has some delicious looking dishes! Which is why it’s tough now bc I’m struggling to even give 3 stars. The menu and ideas a great. It’s the actual cooking of the dishes that somehow went awry– many items were badly over cooked. I went with my fiancé and father for a Friday lunch. It wasn’t too crowded. Our waiter was very friendly. The deviled egg app was delicious. But the meal and dessert parts were the struggle. I got a gumbo side and my fiancé got beans, both of which came with rice. The rice was crunchy and undercooked. The gumbo was really good though. I got a Cuban sandwich. The flavor was decent, but the sandwich was so dry. The meats had no moisture or juice in them at all. They were incredibly over cooked and dried out. I added mayo and hot sauce which helped. My fiancé had chicken that was also a bit burned. My dad’s biscuits were burned in the top and he got a side of sausage that was so over cooked and hard it was inedible. We each tried, but it was truly something we could not eat. For dessert we got cake and pecan pie. The cake was good. The pie was over cooked and the crust was super burned. It gave the whole pie a strange flavor. I don’t know if they are getting used to something new in the kitchen, or if this is always the way things are cooked here? I wish the chef would either turn down the temp or cut the cooking times. The ingredients and the ideas seem really great! But you have to cook them so your clientele can actually taste and eat everything. Hopefully they get it all worked out.

Stopped by for Friday lunch. The parking was surprisingly easy. I saw numerous spots available which is not something said very often in the French Quarter. The server was nice and the atmosphere very casual with music playing throughout the restaurant. The problems here lied in the execution of the food. The deviled eggs with bacon appetizer was good. For my entrée, I ordered the plate lunch with chicken fried chicken with white beans for the side. This also comes with a Caesar salad for $ 18, which is too expensive I feel. The beans were a little bland, but good one I added salt and some of their house hot sauce. Thy came with some rice that was a bit crunchy due to being under cooked. The chicken was a bit dark from being over cooked, though the flavorful gravy on top was a plus. The Caesar salad was good too. My fiancé had the Cuban sandwich. She said the meat was a bit dry and over cooked and the sandwich was lacking so he asked for a side of mayo. She got a side of gumbo, was was good despite the under cooked rice. Her father ordered the chicken and dumplings, which is more like chicken pot pie with, again, over cooked biscuits on top. Seeing a theme here? For his side, he ordered the smoked sausage. This was cut open and then deep fried, but it looked as though it had been forgotten in the fryer as it was super dark and hard, almost jerky like. Not very appetizing. For dessert, we tried the hummingbird cake, which was pretty good and some overlooked pecan pie. The filling was really dark and the crust burnt. In conclusion, the menu looks promising, and there were some bright spots, but there is an issue with the execution of the dishes. For charging the prices they charge, the food needs to be cooked well.
