Not just one of the best po-boys, it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Bisque on a poboy! Nuff said.. . try it.

Wow! NOLA Poboys really delivers on flavor. I’ve eaten fried shrimp poboys at a lot of other places in New Orleans. The difference I found with the NOLA Poboys version is that the shrimp are seasoned so well. Usually I find that the amount of breading and its crispiness is what differentiates a fried shrimp poboy. The NOLA Poboys regular shrimp poboy was so flavorful it was almost like eating a totally different sandwich. It’s in a league of its own. Split one with a friend(they’re big) and you still might have room for dessert. In which case I recommend the vanilla bean poboy ice cream sandwich. I’ll definitely be going back to NOLA Poboys!

I loved NOLA Poboys. Funny thing is, I came here 3 nights in a row on my recent New Orleans vacation, but not for the poboys… rather, for their Crawfish Étouffée! It is seriously the most amazing drunk food in the entire world — even better than carne asada fries! I’ve officially converted and am a believer — but sadly, where I come from there is a serious lack of good Southern food(ahem California). The crawfish étouffée can be described as a spicy, flavorful and thick«stew/gumbo» type dish. Better yet, dip the french bread(on the side) into the gooey étouffée and eat it like that. Doesn’t matter how you eat it, it’s simply delicious. I also tried the alligator étouffée which is almost as good — pretty interesting twist of flavor. The shrimp poboy was pretty good too(only had a bite of it from my friend’s order). If you’re planning a night of debauchery in the French Quarter, be sure to stop by NOLA Poboys before heading home!

Obviously, there are countless places to get a poboy in New Orleans. We actually dropped into NOLA Poboys without looking at any reviews, because we were already hungry and didn’t feel like spending much time researching. The food here is quite good, and the portions are very large for the money. The spicy fried shrimp is a solid 7⁄10 on the heat scale… it won’t kill you, but there’s definitely some heat there, even for the tolerant. Service was fast and friendly. There are additional tables in the rear, but try not to sit at the one near the restrooms. There are only 2 restrooms, so the lines can get long, and then people are standing really close to you while you try to eat. Aside from that, a good meal.

NOWTHISISWHAT A POBOYSHOULDBE(for comparison see my Killer Poboys review)! Divey little place just past Clover Grill… narrow, cramped and long… main room filled with booths and a table for a group of 6−7…2nd room couple booths and tables for when they are packed… Head to counter, look at the board, place order, give them your name, grab a booth and wait for heaven on a bun… Went with the Surf n Turf(debris roast beef with fried oysters) dressed in the traditional manner… ordered the 8″ which was damn plenty… Check my pics but oh my Lort! That poboy was scrumptious and loaded with tasty roast beef and oysters… helluva combination! SODAMNGOOD! Just messy enough, plenty filling and man it hit the spot! Glad I had it bookmarked and glad I found myself in the vicinity because now that I’ve experienced it this will be a go-to for me in the future…

HOLY [INSERTEXPLICITWORDHERE]! This place is amazing. This past weekend(Thurs-Mon) the boyfriend and I traveled down to LA(Lake Charles) for a friend’s wedding. The groomsmen had their bachelor party stop by here, not once, but TWICE on Thursday night. It was so good, the boys talked about it all weekend — that when we were back in NOLA on Sunday night, we stopped by again. Boyfriend mentioned that the owner must’ve realized they were a bachelor party and really took care of our boys, which I appreciate! When we can back on Sunday night, it was also a great experience — we split a shrimp po’boy(DELISH!!!) and our friends, including those with vegetarian eating styles, were also happy with their choice of selection here. The prices are absolutely reasonable, the portions large, and the staff friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty NOLA eat!

Enjoyed the meatball po boy and the big easy po boy. A little pricey but that’s expected for their location. Murray, It was my pleasure, and we’re so glad we stopped by. I’m from California so I’m definitely not local. Wish I was… I’d be in all the time :) Take care

Murray, My family and I went to your restaurant on December 29th at around 2pm. We ordered two large sandwiches and couple bowls of gumbo. We waited over 40 minutes. AND to make it even worse, the attitude and unresponsiveness of your server was extremely frustrating. We ended up having to go inside the kitchen ourselves to request a faster service. Andrew L.

We were delighted to be turned on to this place by a local. The menu board is chock full of Cajun and Creole goodies. We had: –fried shrimp platter –fried gator platter –jambalaya –crawfish pie The platters weren’t greasy, and were perfectly spiced. But only if you like spicy food. My son’s nose was running from the spicy gator. The jambalaya was just like a Cajun grandma would make. The only drawback was that I got a meat pie rather than a crawfish pie, and it took about 15 minutes for them to cook the replacement from frozen. But it was good!

Came here to have my first ever New Orleans Poboy. I was disappointed to see that their fryer was broken, so a fried shrimp poboy was not an option for me. I visited at the end of December 2015. So I ordered a grilled shrimp poboy instead. My mom got a turkey poboy. Our food came out quickly, and my shrimp poboy was very delicious! Nicely spiced shrimp, and the roll was awesome. I have nothing to compare it to, being my first and only New Orleans Poboy, but I enjoyed it! However, my mom’s turkey poboy was not that great. Edible, but pretty ordinary. I would say stick to the shrimp!

Ya dat not dat good. Fried oysters with gumbo had 2 oysters the rest was gumbo. Grilled catfish was good but flavorless. Update from 2 stars to 1 star. I woke up with food poisoning the next day and I know it was from my oyster po boy! Ugh I knew it while I was eating it but I was starving. This place opens late and usually I don’t order shellfish because of the possibility of it being not fresh. Disgusting! Be ware of coming here late night. You will thank me!

We wanted another po’ boy before we departed New Orleans. Voodoo BBQ was too far away(and still has the best po’ boy I have ever tasted) so we asked around for suggestions. Everyone suggested NOLA Poboys. The setup of this place reminded me of a fast food joint. Wooden booths, a counter to order and pick-up your food, huge menu of items(they put just about everything on bread here). The front was packed but we were told there was additional seating in the back. The back was kind of dingy and appeared to be more of a break area for employees. Only one employee was taking orders and handing them out once they were done in the kitchen. We all decided on the fried catfish po’ boy. They do warn that all their fried food is spicy… They weren’t kidding. The catfish was spicy, yes, but lacked in any real flavor. The bread was okay but not great. They don’t have a liquor license but they do allow BYOB. They also offer some creative ice cream flavors. Overall, definitely not the best po’ boy and I wouldn’t recommend it if someone asked me BUT they’re a solid spot if you’re in the Quarter and need some food to hold you over.

In love! Super huge, super delicious po’boys. Love the atmosphere inside the place and the friendly staff. I got the Who Dat with fried shrimp topped by gumbo — amazing! Because my eyes were bigger than my stomach I also got red beans and rice which were SO good. I tried my friend’s poboy too which was roast beef topped with bisque(I think?) which was awesome. Recommended!

This was our first poboy in New Orleans and maybe ever… they have a huge menu if options to choose from on a giant chalk board when you walk in. I chose the spicy one that had shrimp topped with gumbo on a bun instead of the french bread. For me the gumbo overpowered the sandwich. My husband had the traditional shrimp on the french bread and his was much better. Pretty good amount of shrimp on the sandwich which I like to see, each sandwich was around $ 13. A great place to have a poboy, huge menu selection and variety of choices.

This review is strictly for the«Grilled Chicken PoBoy». As optimistic as I like to usually be, not that much can be said about my particular sandwich. It was my first time going and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The meat was so bland and tasteless that it seemed like it was missing a lot of seasoning. Perhaps if I choose to come back next time, I will grab something else. But if you had eyes set for this particular poboy, I’d definitely tell you to consider something else. Not worth the money. Honest opinion.

The other night we asked a local where to go for good Po Boys in The Quarter. He told us NOLA Po Boy was the best. Yesterday we came in and gave it a try. The BBQ shrimp and the fried shrimp po boys were so good that we came back again today. And ordered the same sandwiches! Chris was working the counter both days and she was awesome. Next time we’re in town, we’re coming back here for sure!

Decided it was time for a shrimp po boy. The sign at the counter warns you that they are spicy and you can take the milder version or kick it up a notch. I ordered the fried shrimp po boy sat down and within 10 minutes it arrived. Mind you its 97degrees today with a severe weather warning till Monday night. The po boy and the heat in this place had me sweating. None the less the seasonings from the po boy were great, spicy, flavorful and fresh shrimp. The place is a lil run down however your on bourbon street not like sprucing up the joint is going to do much. You’re their for the food not the atmosphere. The ladies running the place are sweet.

This was our first introduction to NOLA food, and we came here on the recommendation of our Hotel Clerk. We wound up having several po-boys during our stay but these were by far the best. My wife got an 8″ fried oyster po-boy, and I got a 12″ Da Yat, which was fried oysters or shrimp(I went with oysters) with gumbo. We also got Boudin Balls, which were exceptional. Both of our sandwiches were delicious, albeit spicy, but in the best and most flavorful way possible. I should have gone with the 8″ myself, because the sandwiches are very large. My wife loved hers and I really enjoyed mine too but there was a bit of a structural problem to mine. I kinda thought the gumbo would be a sauce for the oysters, but in reality there is just as much gumbo as oysters in the sandwich. Extremely delicious, but the wetness of the gumbo removed all crispiness from the oysters and then disintegrated my bread slowly but surely. By the end there was a small pile of mush that had previously been an inch or two of my sandwich, that were now essentially inedible. Lastly, I felt the pricing was a bit high. 2 sandwiches, boudin balls, and bottled water came out to about $ 50. That’s a bit much in my book. Nevertheless, I would return without hesitation. I definitely recommend this place for po-boys, but if you want traditional oyster, go with that and if you want gumbo, I’d recommend it on the side.
