Sunday’s 80s Dance Brunch was so much fun and food is great!

Any menu based on The Breakfast Club in its entirety will get a thumbs up from me. The Richard Vernon was the best B.L.T. That I’ve ever had. And the Brussels sprouts were charred and salty, but exactly the way I like them. The fruit salad was delicious even though I don’t like coconut and it was the main ingredient. The projector screen played fun 80’s music videos, which was good because the food did take a while to get there, but it was worth it. No booze, but def. a B.Y.O.Bloody Mary joint. Service left a lot to be desired, but was almost comical, so was forgiven. I don’t think the young lady who was waiting on us even worked there, but the staff was very nice. We left with a pretty good story. It was def. an interesting brunch.

It should not come as a huge surprise that I *love* Delta Angel. I mean, given the ambiance(cozy-chic interior, veranda seating that conjures up the quintessential mint julep summer afternoon), quirky menu with plenty of veg choices and, well, I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been slightly obsessed with the environs– the St. Vincent’s Guest House and its cast of characters–(I mean, read the reviews! They are the best). They’ve got the entire package… for the likes of me, at least. That the food is delicious is cake! I kind of knew going in that it would be. After all Unilocal friends John LH and Susan W are regulars and kept telling me I had to try it. But nothing could have prepared me for that salad with roasted Brussels sprouts and @#$%$@ pumpking dressing. NOTHING. It has jalapeños, raisins, walnuts, bleu cheese and baby spinach. My mouth is quivering at its memory. Service is really friendly, coffee is hella meh(not strong enough), and although they don’t yet have booze, they do comped bloodies on weekends. I know where I’ll be come Saturday afternoon… the veranda beckons.

This place was spooky, felt oddly haunted with a whack pool setting the creepy stage. My shrimp and grits with egg breakfast was great though, the coffee was strong and fruit salad with coconut was a nice change to the heavy eating and drinking of the days prior! If you aren’t able to get into Surrey’s this is a good option.

This place was absolutely fantastic. Went with my brother and his wife for brunch on Sunday(for their«Breakfast Club» menu, where everything is named after people/things from the John Hughes movie– cute!). Food was amazingly delicious, the folks there were delightful and fun(especially our wonderful waitress), and they played 90s grunge music like Nirvana and Soundgarden all morning. Had a truly beautiful time. Loved this place, only here in New Orleans on vacation, but if I lived here I’d go all the time.

First the waitress brought my wife a menu with something on it and just wiped it off on her dress in front of us. Then waited 20 minutes before we even gave a drink order. Then at least 40 minutes to get our food. Writing this review at the restaurant, the food was good but the service was the worst plus my wife had to track down the waitress to pay.

Interesting place, with a sort of sketchy vibe, but the food was pretty good. My friend and I tried creamsicle water(water with a vanilla pod and oranges in it) and it was so refreshing. The Mexican omelet had a good flavor and texture but needed some salsa with it because it was pretty dry. Sourdough toast was a nice touch. Gouda grit cake was pretty good. My friend’s pancake looked good but he just thought it was okay. Service was decent but the kitchen took a long time, looked like there was just one or two people back there.

Delta Angel is in the St. Vincent’s Guesthouse which is a cool place to begin with. The restaurant is behind the main entrance and faces the interior courtyard. The ambiance here is really cool and funky and they have fur wallpaper behind the bar. They have 80’s music videos they play for Saturday and Sunday brunch. I don’t care what you think about the 80’s as I know the 80’s were awesome and so much more awesome than the 90’s and 2000’s it just doesn’t compare! I love hearing REAL music again and remembering when there actually were such things as music videos. The most awesome thing about this place is they are going to be doing poolside Saints viewing events. Yes that’s right they have a pool here so you can eat, drink, make merry, swim and watch the Saints on a giant inflatable screen. When this place is crowded they quickly fall behind and don’t seem to have enough staff to cover all the tables so service suffers. When it isn’t crowded here you get really friendly and good service. The menu has a lot of interesting things on it but the sandwiches and salads seem to be the better choices. They have a nice steak sandwich that has a lot of flavor. The omelets are very large and have lots of stuff crammed into them but they seem to need a sauce or something extra added as they seem less flavorful than most other omelets I’ve ever eaten. I was also disappointed they don’t have a dessert menu as a place like this seems like it would have awesome desserts but they don’t. If they can tweak their menu to get everything up to the standard of their steak sandwich and get their staffing levels able to efficiently handle busy times this place easily has potential to reach four star status.

The food is delicious and completely worth the wait. Don’t come here if you’re in a rush. My french toast was a piece of art and tasted amazing! The ambiance is great, they keep the doors open if it’s nice out, you can sit outside by the pool as well. Best of all they play 80’s music videos. The mimosas are quite small for $ 6 so I highly recommend wearing 80’s attire so you can get your first one for free. Our waiter was funny and charming. I think I might have been a little put off if we had had the other waitress who wasn’t really wearing any clothes. I love places with ambiance but if you’re serving food, I don’t really want your naked stomach shoved in my face. However, we’ll be back!

Changes have been made since several of the previous reviews were written. My husband and I went for brunch this morning, and had a great experience. His Brian Johnson(chicken salad sandwich) was well-seasoned and fresh tasting, and my Richard Vernon(egg-in-a-hole BLT) was delicious. There WAS air-conditioning. Service was attentive and helpful, if not magical. The coconut fruit salad was the best fruit salad I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The food took several minutes, but was prepared as soon as we ordered it(it does take a little while to cook, after all). It was refreshing to go somewhere on a Sunday and not have to wait for 20 – 60 minutes for a table. A solid win. We’ll be back.(If only they hadn’t closed.)

I went for brunch and was so not impressed. The drinks were hit or miss. The food was OK, but not great. And it was crowded and super hot. I did enjoy the 80s DJ and the videos projected on the wall. I went back for lunch a week or two later because it’s someone’s favorite lunch place and I wanted to give the lunch menu a shot. And my experience was really much better. The lunch items were tasty and well prepared. And while the place was still not well air conditioned, it was not nearly so warm. But the problem for is that it’s still inside the super sketchy St. Vincent’s. And I don’t know that I’m ever going to be comfortable wandering into that place.

Great place. French toast with fruits, eggs, bacon, toast, and Gouda grits were great. Plus coffee for two. All total $ 25.

Oh, Delta Angel. I had high hopes, that were dashed. When I walked into your un-air conditioned locale, I should have walked away. It’s 2012 — if you don’t want to take plastic as a form of payment, stick with cave dwellers and sell bootleg DVDs out of the trunk of a car. Another reason to walk away. The crappiest Bloody Mary — Harrah’s gross freebies included — with no evidence of booze. An undercooked appetizer — and all the kitchen had to do was toast the bread properly. Granted, the menu looks great, and my companions had wonderful looking dishes, but I didn’t want eggs or tofu. Our server was fast, but didn’t question why I barely made a dent into my drink. I’m not going to sat I had food poisoning, but the rest of my afternoon was spent near my bathroom. And that makes this a place I shall not return.

We saw the 80s Dance Brunch advertised so we decided to finally head over the check out Delta Angel. From walking in the first thing I noticed besides that fact that it was way too hot was the welcoming, kitchsy vibe the place had – I find welcoming is hard to come by in N.O. establishments so I appreciated it. I laughed at my friend that New Orleans is the only place were people would accept sweating through their dinner. Our waiter was sweating so that I wanted to hand her a rag. There was a bit of a wait on the food but once we were served I couldn’t complain. We got the basic breakfast that came in at $ 10 dollars – eggs, bacon, toast and a side. So I was paying more than my other favorite breakfast spot nearby but at least DA has a bar! We got mimosa’s which rang at 7 apiece…(Bottomless is the way to my heart *hint*hint) Being able to use the pool afterwards was an awesome added bonus. Who doesn’t appreciate a swim after brunch?! Great lazy Sunday. Get some fans going and bring in bottomless and I’d gladly be a regular. I’d appreciate having a nice brunch spot in biking distance from my house. Note: it says that are cash only for the time being.

So this is for their delivery. but from reading the other reviews, I’m definitely going to walk over and try it. I love all the new restaurants popping up in the Lower Garden, and this one is no different. The breakfast my friend and I ordered was absolutely amazing. I’m a sucker for any kind of breakfast sandwich, and theirs was ridiculously delicious. And make sure you order the bacon. So. Good. It’s cash only for delivery, but that’s no surprise for New Orleans. And they were pretty quick compared to a lot of other restaurants that deliver in the area. .and even though it was a great hangover café, it’s definitely a good everyday kinda meal as well.

Delta Angel is great. For several weeks I have seen the signs advertising Delta Angel. Having been inside of St. Vincent’s before, I was a little worried. Thankfully I overcame my fear, and now I can’t wait to go back. The dining area had a cool, funky vibe. I really liked the light fixtures that were made from roof ventilation fans. Service was friendly, and professional. The menu had several items that looked great, but I decided to go with the Black and Bleu steak sandwich with a side of vegetarian pasta salad. The pasta salad was very good, but the sandwich was incredible. It was so good that it may have been the best non po-boy sandwich I have had this year. I can’t accurate describe the flavors other than to say everything on that sandwich combined together to form greatness. It was that good. If you are looking for a great breakfast or lunch place, give Delta Angel a try. If you need someone to go with you, let me know. This is a place I need to be going far more frequently.

Surrey’s was full so my hungover side kick and I wandered over to Delta Angel inside St Vincent’s Guest House. The staff is nice and laid back. The elders and squares might raise eye brows with the servers’ fashion sense but I’m used to it so bring me my coffee tattoo face girl! Shared a breakfast plate and a blueberry pancake. Food was good and the price wasn’t bad. Wished there were more blueberries in the pancake but awesome they cooked it inside of it instead of smothering it with sugary syrup. Side kick thought the food was heavy but probably what we ordered. What do you expect from a pancake? I will bring friends. It’s also a plus I can walk there from my apartment.

Delicious breakfast, laid back staff, and an atmosphere that makes you feel cool just by being there. Everything you’d ever want for a New Orleans brunch. But, like many New Orleans shops it’s CASHONLY!

I debated long and hard over what review to leave for this interestingly named restaurant inside of an Inn House that used to be an orphanage… Clearly my internal conversation was impressed and persuaded by my stomach so the five stars is well deserved. Delta Angel has all the New Orleanian quirks that any new café should: the funky décor of carpeted walls behind the bar, patterned chairs, little DIY flower vases, and rooftop fans for light fixtures. Like most up and coming cafes I’ve visited here, they seemed a little perturbed as to customer protocol, unsure of the server’s whereabouts or what they had left to serve. However, once it was all sorted out, we were able to come to conclusions for our meal. HOLY amazeballs, this food is the bee’s knees. I’m not sure what’s going on in that kitchen but good golly, Ms. Molly. As much as I’d like to tell you the details of my order, I think it’s best to let your eyes and stomach decide because across the board, everything we tasted was fantastic beyond belief.(See pictures) Please be sure to food-converse with your server/the chef because they’ll do their best to whip you up something special, aimed to your personal preference. *Hint: they offered roasted brussels sprouts in place of my pasta salad. WHODOESTHAT?! I have a crush on Delta Angel.

This is not The Columns nor The Country Club, and it’s not trying to be. The hotel that houses Delta Angel, St. Vincent’s Guest House is an edgy, sometime dodgey place, but it’s young and fabulous. I’m super excited with its newest restaurant incarnation. We had a great experience this morning here. The décor is funky and cool, with an inviting quality. We chose a table outside that had a view of the pool and garden area; there was shade and nice breeze. Our young and hip server was friendly and gave very good service, getting our order and bringing out our beverages right away. We had the egg and white cheddar sandwich on croissant and a side of the German hash browns(they’re more hash style, as opposed to shredded-pancake style). The food came out quickly and was tasty and the hashbrowns well seasoned. Our entire meal, including coffee and tea, came to under $ 20, so there’s a win, too. In short, if you find yourself on Magazine in the LGD and looking for and easy-going, quick meal, make it happen at Delta Angel. P. S. Their to-go menu say they’ll deliver all the way to the French Quarter!
