Why isn’t this guy famous? His brisket was the best I’ve had — close to the best food I’ve ever had. Combo meat plate(pulled pork, ribs, & brisket was $ 17, but more than I could eat. My wife ordered the loaded baked potato with pulled pork, & it was enormous — she made it through half. Word of note — it’s in the back of a small neighborhood Irish bar. Incongruous perhaps, but worth the drive!

The burgers are fine, but the Cajun Banh Mi is great, as is the fish & chips with the bleu cheese slaw.

Wow Wow Wow! This place was so awesome. The staff was very friendly and helped me pick the burger I ordered the Peanut Butter & Habanero Pepper Jelly w/egg and it was one of the best burgers I had in a while, the rush of flavors mixing was so perfect. I just couldn’t get over the first bite! The fries were mediocre. I also got an order of the fried Mac and it was very good also. Right now Id rank this place top 3 burgers in Nola

I am SO disappointed. I searched Unilocal for a good veggie burger(non meat eater here) and this place came up with several reviews saying the veggie burger was really great! So I hopped in the car and made my way over. The little food joint is in the back of Finn McCool’s. There was only one lady in the back taking orders and cooking and was clearly busy, so I waited a while to place my order. No biggie. I don’t mind waiting for something yummy! I ordered the yellow veggie burger and the mac n cheese balls to go. So I get my food and get all the way home. I had a Mac n Cheese ball first and it was delicious! I will say that for sure! However, I am so thankful that I looked closely at my burger and cut it in half before sinking my teeth in. $ 17 later I was stuck with a beef burger., not a veggie in sight! :(What a complete waste of time and money. And unfortunately, I just did not have the time to go all the way back to the restaurant to exchange my food or get a refund. To make matters worse, I called back to let her know about the mistake, and she argued with me saying that I said«burger.» But that’s exactly what it says on the menu… Yellow Veggie Burger. I’m not sure how else I should have stated my order? There was no offer of a refund. What a shame… I will never go back. If you go, I’m sure your food will be good… but just double check your order before you leave the premises.

I’m going to start off by saying that I am not a HUGE fan of barbecue. I usually go for anything else before I say«let’s get barbecue», but I was out with a friend and he wanted some, so we ended up here. Boo Koo is located in the back of Finn McCool’s bar. There’s no separate entrance, so you are going to have to fight the crowd in order to get to the back and place your order. Once you order, you can either get your food to go, or sit in one of the limited seats inside or outside. I decided on the Cajun Cuban, which is Boo Koo’s version of the traditional Cuban sandwich. I don’t know what makes it «Cajun», but it was really good. It tasted like a typical Cuban to me. It might not be the best I have ever had, but I would order it again. I also really liked how crispy the fries were that came with it. I would give this place three stars for dining in and four stars for take out. Why? Because of the smoking. I just can’t enjoy my meal while smelling cigarettes and it was cold and rainy the night we were here, so sitting outside was out. Also, they have a video golf game located right in the small dining area and the guys playing it were SUPER loud(screaming and high fiving– typical frat behavior) and chain smoking. I would suggest ditching the game entirely, or moving it away from where people are trying to eat.

Being selected as ROTD reminded me that I need to give y’all an update. I spoke to the owner about the jalapenos and learned that they do not pickle them in house. They are still really good though. And they inspired me and K to pickle our own!

Truffle gouda mac n’ cheese… best way to celebrate a Saints win! Brisket hit the spot as well. Will be back!

If you don’t stop into Finn McCool’s for anything else, a visit to Boo Koo BBQ is what you should be doing it for. The drink prices in the bar are great, the staff is stellar, the owners(Pauline & Steve) are heaven-sent, and the patrons are the friendliest and will make you feel at home, it’s quite possibly my favorite bar in Mid City. Lee, the owner of Boo Koo is also one of the coolest people around. The menu items have got to be the best for curing any hangover, satisfying all munchies, and happen to be equally delicious even when you’re 3rd-grade-sober. I love the fried macaroni n cheese with that bomb ass dipping sauce that comes with it, i’ve also had the loaded nachos(impressive), their veggie burger(bomb), recently tried the macaroni n cheese burger and found that to be quite appetizing as well. I think it’s safe to say this is one of those places where nothing on the menu is taboo, try it all. Hell, close your eyes and land your finger over something, i don’t think you will be disappointed.

BBQ so delicious that I just drooled a little thinking about it. I recommend the mac & cheese, Brisket or pulled pork sandwich on their bahn mi buns, and the mutha load bbq nachos. All of which are amazing and tasty. You won’t be disappointed in the food but service can get a little backed up in the back of the bar.

Had to write another update because Boo Koo has stepped up their game and is turning out the food faster than ever. Bravo, guys. Oh, and those Pork Belly Sliders are KILLER. I can only eat one per meal but holy sh*t they’re incredible.

Mmmmmmmm… Boo Koo BBQ… I’m not a barbeque fan. I’ll eat it, but it’s not my fave. I don’t much like going to straight up BBQ restaurants… everything kinda tastes the same, ya know? But Boo Koo is inside of Finn McCool’s bar, which is within walking distance of my house and we’ve all been drunk late at night and when there’s food right there, well, things happen. And I’m glad they did. I want to buy a fifth of their barbeque saucend take it home and chug it. Would I feel horrible after? Probably. But it would be worth it. My favorite thing here is Da Mutha Load nachos: barbeque pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken, boudin, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos. It’s a giant mountain of deliciousness that could easily be shared between 4 people. The mac n cheese balls are to die for but the buffalo wings are just mediocre. Happy hour is 3 – 6 Thurs-Fri. $ 2 off all nachos & burgers. I took a star off because the food can take awhile to come out and they no longer have the Crawfish Stuffed Potato :(

I’m in love with this place… I never was a big BBQ eater but this place changed things… It changed my life… It brought me to a fully existence. One that included the love and passion for BBQ and specifically brisket. I never thought such a day could come but Boo Koo did it. This love affair started with a BBQ Brisket Burger(TEAR…Sorry I’m getting a little emotional) this burger consisted of ground brisket topped with bbq smoked brisket and Swiss cheese. I never tasted anything like it and that brisket on top was beyond great. Accompany this was the huge fries that were just all the right perfect. Later I went back of course(who am I fooling? Several times) and got the brisket plate… That brisket… sigh. It was just so tender and just perfect with the tangy bbq, the portion size was huge and I could eat it all day if need be. It came with a side and I tried the wonderful Truffle Gouda Mac N Cheese and I actually did my happy food dance… Tips: It’s located at the moment inside of Finn McCools, which is a bar. So if bars are not your thing don’t worry. Although it’s in there it’s to the other side and you can go order and go sit outside no worries. It is also open during the week at lunch which is a plus in my book and outside seating is good so you don’t have to endure the smoke. Decent parking it’s in a neighborhood so be courteous and enjoy the yummy. Also… The owner is really cool and just so friendly. I hope they get their own place soon because they deserve it.

awesome little pub to grab some grub… wasn’t real clear how things worked… there was a server that came and took my drink order but then I had to go inside and order my food thru a window. The food was good… the service is a little odd if it’s your first time here.

Boudin pistollette topped with powdered sugar was amazing and the brisket burger was bursting with flavor. Best burger I have had in months. Not to mention the amazing atmosphere and super nice and fun staff. I’m in love with this place and craving more.

Amazing! First of all I love Finn McCool’s, it was one of my very favorite neighborhood bars when I lived in Mid City, but on top of that this place also has some of the best BBQ and bar food in all of NOLA. Everything on the menu is basically very creative takes on southern comfort food and dammit if it doesn’t get the job done! My favorite item on the menu is the Big Easy Mac N’ Cheesy: deep fried Mac n cheese ball, bacon, cheddar cheese and bookoo sauce. This burger will destroy your hunger and the thick cut fries that come along with it are some of the best fries you’re likely to try in the city. You’ll probably also run into the chef that created the menu while you’re there, he hangs out there a lot and always seems pretty willing to talk about his philosophy of cooking if you ask him. One of my favorite places in New Orleans.

I recently hired Lee and Boo Koo to cater our company picnic. They did a fantastic job, were friendly and professional, and everyone loved the food. The cheese grits and ribs were my personal favorites. Thanks again, Lee!

I want to give the place 5 stars but I just can’t. It should actually get 2 stars, but I did enjoy the food. They messed up our order, charged us for a side of mayo then never even gave us the mayo. Then I checked my bank statement and realized they’d overcharged me $ 5.00!!! She said she’d fixed or when I checked out, and by the time I had my statement, I obviously didn’t have the receipt. The pulled pork burger was phenomenal. A side of Mac and cheese is RIDICULOUSLYSMALL, so if you want to pay $ 3.00 for a small spoonful of Mac and cheese, go for it. I would return perhaps, but this time, I would stand there until EVERYTHING was accounted for and knowing what you say I’m being charged, and what I signed, is going to be listed in my statement. No Buenos for me.

With this being inside one of the smokiest bars in NOLA, We couldn’t even make it back to order. Cigarette smoke is NOT the kind of smoke flavoring I want in my BBQ. NO thanks.

While throwing down for the super awesome Linday’s birthday spectacular at Finn McCool’s, I ate some dinner from BooKoo. I had the fried mac-n-cheese and the soup of the day… wait, serious dejavu. I think I wrote this up in my Finn McCool’s review. Oh well. Anyway, the mac-n-cheese wasn’t my thing. But if I had been drunk, it would have been perfect to soak up all the alcohol in my tummy. The soup on the other hand was delicious, a very non-traditional bisque that I thoroughly enjoyed.
