I was waiting for a hair appointment and just happened to see this place as I was waiting. They had a Good happy hour, so popped in. The food was awesome, and the drink was super strong and good, especially for $ 6. Definitely recommend. I got the sweet and sour with chicken.

My friend and I ordered the same dish from this place and we both got very sick. I didn’t eat anything prior to eating here so I know it didn’t come from anywhere else. When I told another friend who lives in the neighborhood, he mentioned that people have gotten sick here before. I read the reviews, and sure enough… I should have read the reviews prior to eating here :/

When there twice hopping the second time that the first experience was unusual. However, both times that I went they served me dishes slapped together. I ordered the soups tom yum the first and Tom ka the second time. The broths were high sodium with a slight coconut flavor. The vegetables were chopped and thrown in raw and served. I love veggies and in soup but this was not savory or cooked. I worried if my chicken wasn’t cooked, but the tough rubbery texture confirmed it was. Most of the veggies were not even finish being chopped so I had multiple bells peppers that I had to pull out recut into strips myself and put it back in the soup. The services was incredibly efficient band fast.

Great place and great location! Staff here is friendly and I really liked new flat noodles with Turmeric sauce! Will definitely try to go back soon and try more. The prices are great!

Came here for lunch today with a coworker since we had time to kill. We both ordered a Thai iced tea, that didn’t come mixed. We also had entrees from the lunch menu starting at 8.95 $ pp. Not a bad deal. since the entrée comes with salad and a fried gyoza. The salad was wet. The gyoza was stone cold and inedible. I had the pad see ew with tofu in soy bean sauce. The tofu skin was dry and extremely salty. The flat noodles had a good chew and flavor along with the other green vegetable. The egg was overcooked. My coworker had the seafood noodle soup with mild spice, but there was no flavor. The noodles were chewy enough and lots of fish balls, squid and shrimp. Lacked flavor. Overall, i probably would not recommend unless you are time crunched. Food lacked flavor.

There is a plethora, a veritable sea of inexpensive Thai restaurants on 9th Ave. There are Thai restaurants practically on top of other Thai restaurants, actually. Zoob Zib is one of those places. I go there often as it is convenient when I am in the area. They get my business vs. all of the others in the area is that the place is reliable. I usually go with a small group and can quickly get a seat for an early dinner. The service is usually pretty quick to seat as well as get drinks /food etc. They also don’t roll their eyes when you ask for a bunch of separate checks. They just keep it moving. I have been there many times in the past few months with groups and everyone likes the food and service. I usually get the lemongrass chicken. It is tasty, grilled chicken with some kind lemongrass sauce on top. It is served with sticky rice served in a plastic bag. Kind of strange, but it works. It also comes with a little salad of some kind of fruit that has a dressing that with some peanuts and a serious zing to it. This dish is always solid.

The food here was okay. Service was very good and attentive. I got a tofu pad see ew and the portion size was good. It tasted fine but there is a lot of Thai food competition in the area so it is hard to say this was stellar or anything. However it was not bad either, just average. Prices are pretty standard for Thai food in the city. My tofu and vegetable pad see ew(considered as 2 separate additions) was $ 11.95. It would be $ 10.95 if it was just«one» addition. I think the more expensive meats bring up the price more. In warmer weather they open up the front window so you get this window/counter seating which looks pretty nice! With tons of other Thai food in the area, I would probably try the rest first before returning to Zoob Zib.

This is a place I’ll usually stop at for lunch if I’m at a convention at the Javits Center because it’s a relatively short walk there and they have pretty good lunch specials. To make a lot of them vegan or vegetarian you can order them with tofu, vegetables or mock duck(seitan). Their mock duck is really crispy and the taste and texture are very close to that of real meat. When one of my vegetarian friends ordered pad thai with vegetables our server even made sure to ask if he was ok with it being made with egg. I’ve liked everything I’ve had from them, though I’ve never been able to finish. The portions are larger than they initially appear. The service has also been good, and we’ve never had to wait for a table. Normally we’ll see other con-goers having lunch too when we’ve went. The prices are also reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get, coupled with the restaurant being in Manhattan. The only thing I’m disappointed with it that it looks like they’ve changed their menu since last year and don’t have a vegetarian noodle soup anymore. There was one they had on their menu around this time last year that could easily be veganized by ordering it without egg. All of the noodle soups on their menu now have some kind of meat or fish in them. I really hope they’ll bring at least one veggie noodle soup option back soon.

I’ve been here twice during gorgeous weather so I sat on a bar stool with the front windows open, which was lovely. The servers were attentive, the craft beer selection impressive, and the food was excellent. I think if you order anything you can’t go wrong!

Just got food poisoning yesterday. Not happy. I came in last week and the food tasted funny, so I mentioned it to the waitress who was nice enough to replace the dish I had. Unfortunately I came in for a lunch with colleagues yesterday and the same thing happened again, and this time I didn’t realize the food had gone bad until after a few bites but it was too late. Specifically, it’s the hakka soup noodles. Not sure what happened, the place used to be fantastic when it first opened, but gradually the quality went down further, and now the cleanliness and freshness of food is also compromised. A bit upset that this was mentioned to them last week, but nothing has changed, and now I’m still up with stomach pains. Not cool. And not coming back.

After passing by this place a few times, ordering take out from here and also dining here, I still can’t figure out what this place is exactly called since they legitimately seem to have two names. That aside, this is a great Thai place in midtown. The inside isn’t distinctly ethnic like a lot of copy and paste Thai places, but it’s cute, with dark teal subway tile walls, clusters of mason jar lights as a industrial-chic chandelier, a counter along their window store front for great people watching along 8th avenue. There’s a full bar, which isn’t always a given at Thai places, so it’s nice to have the option of a crafted cocktail with dinner. The food was amazing. I’ve had the turmeric noodles and the drunken noodles. The drunken were a little spicy, but not overwhelming for this mild curry gal. I’ve had drunken noodles elsewhere and these are flavorful with enough veggies for flavor and textural interest, enough sauce to meld everything together and enough tofu to make it a meal. I also wanna shoutout to their Thai iced tea, which strikes that perfect balance between that signature toasted, mellow caramel flavor and the milky sweetness. I seem to have awful luck with ordering delivery for the office in that something always goes wrong, but our food arrived within an hour of us ordering with everything we ordered the way we ordered it. Sounds simple enough, but boy in this town is it not. Definitely coming back here when I need a Thai fix and the inside is cute enough for a daytime lunch time escape, for a casual dinner with a friend(not the best place for a large group) or even a date night. I gotta stop writing reviews when I’m hungry. Think they’ll deliver to me on the train?

It was a cute quick place to go for lunch during work. I had the drunken noodles for $ 8.95 and it was good and spicy. I would come back if my coworkers wanted to, but it is not my first choice. I think I can buy something more delicious than what they have.

Decent chicken noodle soup with excellent huge chicken portion, all white meat and well seasoned. Small noodle portion though. Nice ambience. The fresh ginger ale was no joke! Haven’t tried the other thing.

I came here with my family and we ordered four different dishes. The curry leaves a lot to be desired. I had the massaman curry and the cubed beef was exceptionally low-quality. I was afraid it might be dog food. The Cantonese noodles were A solid three stars. Beef one came with quite a bit of meat but the chicken had maybe one piece. The peanut sauce with beef(Rama) was was probably the best item on the menu that was tried. Although it was not fantastic and therefore a solid three stars. The coconut pudding is by far the best meal that they offer. It is hot and has a wonderful flavor of coconut. The texture is fantastic. I would return here for the coconut pudding but that is all.

Great, fast, cheap. Is it the best Thai in the world? No. But if you are on a tight lunch hour… as a I was… this is the place for you! The quality to price ratio is just right. Service is fast and friendly. What’s not to love? One thing. What is with having two names? Is it Aura or is it «Zoob Zib». It’s all about branding and trying to sell two brands at the same time is silly and confusing!

Cheap lunch specials — I got the green curry with tofu and it was spicy but the overall flavor was just OK. It came with a side salad and a small fried veggie dumpling which was good. I tried the drunken noodle and the sauce was way too sweet. I didn’t care for the service as they came out with our main dishes when we were still eating appetizers. I felt rushed even though the place was empty. Not every Thai has to be «authentic»(especially at these prices) but it still should be tasty. It wasn’t so it’s not worth coming here when there are so many other cheap Thai places in the city.

The prices for the lunch specials were not bad. I got the drunken noodles though I think it was called drunkman noodles on their menu. It was $ 9 and included a salad and dumpling. It was also a normal portion size rather then the reduced lunch size you normally get. The salad came and had a dressing that was a bit too sweet and a ton of peanut flavor. Too much peanut flavor in my opinion. Their was a single vegetable dumpling, which was decent. Then before we finished the salads we had the entrée being jammed in our faces. Their was clearly not enough room on the table for this. I was forced to stuff the rest down my throat to make room. I hate in when restaurants rush you. Especially when it’s not busy. The drunken noodle was pretty spicy and way to sweet. The noodles were just not cooked right either. I’m a big drunken noodle fan, but this just didn’t do it for me.

Zoob Zib is a 3.5 for me. It’s better than many of the dinky Asian restaurants scattered throughout the city, especially in the Hells Kitchen area, but it’s not quite there in terms of authenticity and taste. The restaurant décor and space layout is seemingly cooler than that of its competitors with its rustic wooden tables, stools, and floor to ceiling windows that open up as partial outdoor seating during the warmer months. They also have a neat bar area where many patrons come just for their weekday happy hour from 5−8PM. Their happy hour drink menu consists of everything from mojitos, margaritas, sangria, and wine. Due to its location, Zoob Zib attracts tourists from the Penn Station area and swanky fellows from Hells Kitchen and Chelsea. I’ve been here during lunch, for dinner, and even ordered via Seamless. I was neither disappointed or wow’ed, but I kept going back because it’s an cheap and easy solution for when you’re in the area. I definitely would not recommend coming out of the way to go to Zoob Zib. Their $ 9-$ 10 lunch specials include popular Thai items, along with a small side salad and itty bitty spring roll that’s about a quarter of its usual size. If you want to add a drink on top of your lunch, you can do so for only $ 2 more dollars! Major plus, if you need a drink or two before heading back into the office. I’ve had their Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, Roasted Duck & Rice, and Pineapple Fried Rice. Everything is good, but again, nothing in their menu will blow your socks off. But the food at Zoob Zib will probably be better than your local Thai restaurant, if there are any in your neighborhood. I am iffy about their Drunken noodles and probably will opt for either their Pad See Ew or Pad Thai if I’m craving a stir fry noodle entrée. And here’s why– the first time I ordered their Drunken noodles, it was served in a brown soy sauce base and was extremely spicy. I liked it so much that I ordered it a couple of weeks later through Seamless. However, the second time around, it was served in a bland yellow/orange sauce with overcooked rice noodles. Was it just a one-time mistake or is it a lack of consistency in their menu? I will never know.

Not trying to be a diva but I like«fresh» water. Perhaps other patrons expect that or don’t care but to have pre-filled glasses of water sitting on the counter to serve is beyond disgusting. This is NY we’re talking about. Who knows what’s floating in the atmosphere, talking over the drinks, creatures flying around. Also… I like my water cold, and it was a hot day, so old ass warm water was not what I was expecting. I could’ve asked for fresh water but… Mer. Aight enough about the water. The sushi was horrible. For some reason I found it a bit tough to eat. The flavor was practically non-existent aside from the ginger and low sodium soy sauce. I left a piece of sushi on my plate. That’s monumental in my case because it doesn’t matter how big the roll is, I’m tearing it up. This place is eh. There are better options around the corner.
