The Phở Ga in this place is absolutely delicious! The spring rolls left much to be desired. But I’d go back just for the soup! Service was great and management removed the fried spring rolls from our bill because they didn’t want us to leave unhappy!

The food was spectacular as well as the service. I would love to give this place five stars, however a bathroom incident foiled the overall experience. My grandfather walked into the men’s restroom to be greeted by a patron washing his genitals in the sink. He proceeded to air dry himself as my grandfather says«wtf» Yeah I know what you are thinking this shit ACTUALLY happened

Wow. This place is so good that I am reviewing WHILE eating(my second time). The phở bo and phở ga small versions(just $ 4 and $ 3.75 respectively!) were the right size when you are moderately hingry. Get the large if you are hungry. There isn’t that much meat though, which might also explain the modest prices. The curry ga is TODIEFOR. It comes with succulent tender strips of thin chicken breast, sauteed onions and bell peppers and delicious melt in your mouth eggplant. The sauce will be the protagonist in my dreams tonight. The mushu pancakes perfectly added the soft carby layer this dish needs. The cha goe(spring rolls) with taro root shrimp and whatever else are the best of my life. No other spring roll will EVERCOMPARE. The spring rolls will be the main supporting character in my dreams tonight. *Curtain drop* Applause.

This is one of my and my boyfriend’s regular spots when we’re being lazy and just want some good food without venturing too far from our apartments. We had a lot of diff stuff here and have ordered delivery, take out and eaten in the restaurant. Needless to say, we are Veatery’s biggest fans. I am a huge fan of their shrimp summer rolls because they are HUGE and have the perfection ratio of shrimp: veggie:vermicelli. But really everything we’ve ever gotten here has been amazing. The broth of the phở is one of my favorites — a bit more garlicy than at other joints, but I love the taste of garlic. The small size will fill you up plenty and is only $ 4! We’ve also had their grilled pork, curry and rice dishes — the fried rice is one of my bf’s favorite things to get, especially with the Chinese sausage. Overall, Veatery is a solid Vietnamese restaurant in the UES!

Delicious, fresh food with great spices in a warm and inviting restaurant. Love this place. Can’t wait to go back and try another dish.

Veatery is officially my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in all of NYC! Their food is so fresh and tasty that I have constant dreams of swimming in Pad Thai with Chicken while munching on a fresh Summer Shrimp Roll. Veatery’s service is super fast and friendly. I just can’t get enough of there chicken skewers and many other dishes. For those who love, never eaten, or curious about Vietnamese food, this is the place to run to!

Who knew there was authentic Vietnamese food in the Upper East Side? So happy I found this place! Fresh, delicious and delivery is pretty quick too. Huge plus in my book: they let you order off their extensive lunch special menu(Monday thru Friday) even if it’s for delivery… and they are all under 9 bucks. Two thumbs up!

We had dinner here not too long ago. I usually love getting phở at Vietnamese restaurants but the weather was too warm for that so I had stir fried noodles instead. The consensus was that it was definitely decent Vietnamese food and inexpensive but nothing that would blow you away.

Loved this place! A great ‘by accident’ find. I got this humongous dish with a ton of okra and loved it. Great food, great price(I went with a friend, and I think our total bill was under $ 20), and tons of vegan options. I’m really starting to catch on to Vietnamese food!

I’ve been here many times and haven’t been disappointed yet. It’s decently priced, although you can get wayyyyy better Viet down in Chinatown. This is probably the next best thing on the UES(probably the other thing). The spring rolls are odd, its skin oily and crispy… in an oily way. But I still order it every time. So far, the best thing here is the marinated pork chops with lemongrass. Huge portion, great flavor. They do have phở, which is plain but cheap.

I can’t say anything about authenticity– I thought everything was excellent! The location was nice and clean, and casual. Service was really good, prices were fair, portions were just right. We ordered: Shrimp Summer Roll $ 6.50 La Ga Sa(noodle soup-individual) $ 4.00 Phở Bo(noodle soup-individual) $ 4.00 Curry Bo(beef and veggies) $ 13.50 Bun Xao(stirfry noodles) $ 10.50 It was all delicious! I’m eating my take home leftovers as I type this — it’s still good!

I feel so deceived. This is NOT vietnamese food. This is an «asian fusion» place with vermicelli noodles for a couple of phở dishes. Avoid. It was just plain BAD.

I MISSVIETNAMESEFOOD! someone please point me in the direction of some really authentic Vietnamese food and I will love you forever. For now, I guess this will have to do since it’s only a few blocks from home. The Bun Thit Nuong(Grilled Beef or Chicken over Vermicelli) is decent. Its served in a humungous bowl and they sure pack on the veggies and noodles, don’t be a newbie, mix it up so you get a little bit of everything in every bite. Phở wasn’t too bad. My only complaint was that the beef was tough and overcooked. But it sure did start me on my way towards my hangover cure. Shrimp Imperial Rolls, Summer Rolls, whatever it’s called here — Shrimp Spring Rolls or Goi Cuon if you want to get technical, is decent. I’m definitely not used to paying this much for food that tastes better back in San Jose, CA, but I guess these were one of the many things I had to give up to move to NYC. Plus, it’s strange that I can’t order in Vietnamese at a Vietnamese restaurant. So I guess, don’t bother, they’ll just ask you in English which item you meant to order.

We started with La Sa Tom soup which filled me with spice and warmth. I was inspired by my colleague to drink the broth from the bowl. Yummy :-) My entrée was thrilling with Jasmine rice. I closed out the meal with green tea ice cream. Full and fulfilled!

Summer rolls are excellent. We tried #78 with chicken(think rice noodles stir fry, similar to pad thai, but a little more sweet and tangy and less saucy) and loved it. The beef phở was decent. By no means the best I’ve ever had, but it would do in a phở craving pinch. I’m so glad that I tried this place. I now have a decent option for Vietnamese when I don’t feel like taking the subway all the way down to Chinatown. We’ll be back for more. Prices were reasonable for the area.(Phở was $ 7 – 8, Summer rol $ 6.50, #78 w/chicken $ 10.50). The portions are enormous.

Veatery is a $$ restaurant which has a nice ambiance. There’s no lunch special menu during Sundays so you can scratch this off of your list. A main course meal would cost $ 11 – 14. FOOD: Xuong Nuong $ 13.75 Grilled marinated pork chops w/lemongrass. Served w/pickle salad and Nuoc Cham sauce on the side. –The pork chops were excellent. They served 4 – 5 pieces of porky goodness with a healthy salad on the side. Come on, you have to balance it out. It’s like ordering a super-sized big mac with a diet coke. DESIGN/LAYOUT: The outside look doesn’t really match with the inside layout. Fast food look outside, fine-dining feel inside. They have a nice corner location with a terrible corner look. Have you seen their tagline displayed outside? I’m not a fan…(Marketing/Adv Perspective) Overall, it’s the food that matters(depends on the person) It’s their pork chops that saved this review.

Veatery is awesome! It’s great to have a quality Vietnamese place back in the neighborhood. I’m not sure what took so long since Saigon Grill’s demise, but Veatery is worth the wait. From the friendly host and server to the fast service and, most importantly, the excellent, affordable food, Veatery has it all. We started with the beef sate, which was excellent. Lean and flavorful, it was just fine without even dipping in the sate sauce. We also had shrimp and chicken dumplings, which both carried lots of flavor, unlike some places’ dumplings that don’t really have much taste. For my main course I went with No. 56, the Ton Nuong. This is grilled shrimp served with crushed peanuts and pickle salad. These shrimp were not at all shrimpy, with two jumbos piled onto each skewer, with some pineapple(yum!) in between. Six shrimp overall was just the right amount. My date had Ga(Chicken) Sate for her main, and the chicken was thinly sliced and the veggies were fresh and tasty. We decided to pass on dessert, but our super-nice waiter brought us over a couple of complimentary mini-cakes, which appeared to be Ritz crackers stuffed with something mysterious and then fried. Whatever it was, it was GOOD! Veatery — welcome to the neighborhood! I’ll definitely be seeing you again soon!

Thanks to my Unilocal app and after reading Phil H.‘s review below, I decided to have dinner with a friend here. I’ve passed it by many times, meaning to come through, but like most missed moments in the city… never really got to it. We immediately were greeted by our kind host who asked us ever so kindly«is it ok if I take you to your table?»…“of course it is” I respond… how sweet =) We then started off with the shrimp steamed dumplings and spare ribs. Both pretty tasty. We both decided to try their beef noodle dish(totally forgot what it was called, but the guy next to me had it… so I pointed to his dish when the waiter asked for my order). Both service and the meal were great. Next time I’ll have to try their phở!

Great addition to Yorkville! Looks like there was a Vietnamese restaurant at the same spot owned by the same owner years ago and the old timers seem very pleased about the resurrection of the place; I’m just plain happy. Food is always fresh and tasty. The wait staff is friendly, swift and cordial. I’ve been waiting for a place like this to open in my neighborhood. The management is same as Saigon Market in USQ, so you can expect the same taste. Pork Chop(Xuong Nuong), Bun Xao, and Bun noodle are my favorites. Sugar Cane Shrimp(Chao Tom) is also interesting. Was a bit disappointed by their Crystal Dumplings; they looked so good!

For those of us in Yorkville who remember the old Saigon Grill that used to reside at this location and loved its Vietnamese offerings we finally have a respectable replacement. It’s been many years that this restaurant has been shuttered and windows papered up but now has finally been reborn as Veatery. We decided to try it out last night and was not disappointed. As we were handed our menus we wondered if the dishes we chose would have the same taste and plating. We ordered our old favorites — Goi Cuon Chay(vegetarian summer rolls), Spicy & Tasty Chicken, and Ga Sate(sauteed chicken in a sate sauce). As the plates came to our table our prayers were answered. Hell yes! The summer rolls were served with both a plum dipping sauce and a sweet vinegar sauce. Soft and fresh just as in the past. The spicy/tasty chicken and ga sate were just as we remembered. Full of good flavor with both sauces each were prepared in just sooo tasty, but so different. Fresh vegetables(broccoli) and fruit(pineapple/cherry) were also fresh and crisp. White rice that accompanied each was done just right. These plates were quite full as they do not skimp on portions here. We were both pleasantly surprised that it was almost an exact copy of our old favorite place. The food here passed our initial test and will have us coming back for more! For the area and cuisine the prices are in a decent range. $ 6 for the appetizer, and each entrée was $ 12.50. They also offer lunch specials Mon-Fri but I hope they extend this to Sat as the old spot used to do. Service was pleasant and attentive enough and food came out pretty quickly. As a just opened business there are some kinks to work out with the service but it was ok to me. The décor is nothing to rave about and the main dining area is kind of bland looking, but clean and airy with a lot of seating. The 2nd Ave subway construction surrounds it a bit at the corner of 88th street, but hopefully that will not deter the locals from coming here for some good food. Welcome back to the hood.
