Tinika Sadiku

Tinika is amazing with hair… and people. She’s talented and listens to what your preferences are. I do not work or live in the area. But I make a special trip to see her in order to maintain healthy hair and a tight look.
My only issue is with convenience. She is so popular that you can only get to her a couple of days a week. Oh well. And I certainly could live without that tiny elevator at the salon location. Yikes. But it’s either that or the steep stairs. I usually opt for the box. That’s how good she is.

So I wanted to get my hair texturized, but I was terrified: terrified of damage to my scalp, terrified of over-​processing and losing my curls, terrified of no longer being «natural»… I cut off all of my relaxed hair five years ago and have been natural ever since. Well I am so glad to have found Tinika! She was amazing — she understood my hair type, understood my vision for my hair (still curly, just a bit looser!), expertly texturized my natural hair while preserving the curls’ definition and texture, and then conditioned and styled it after. She talked me through the whole thing, and then gave me tips on how to best maintain and enhance my curls. I couldn’t stop touching my hair when I left the salon — the curls just looked amazing! Tinika is an extremely knowledgable stylist!

I went to have my hair texturized by Tinika almost a month ago and I was quite satisfied. Once I got there, she was quite friendly and answered all of my questions. She was quite knowledgeable and well informed. She recommended so good products for me to purchase for my texturizer. I thought I was going to have to chop it all off and go short with my new growth of six months, but she told me I could do the roots and at a later time, cut it off I so pleased. That was the best advice because I was going on a cruise the next day and I would have been a bit insecure with maintaining and rocking a new short hairdo. I left her salon happy, satisfied and content!

First off let me say this. I am personally a girl that is used to going to the Dominican salons. I would go there for wash and sets, perms, blowouts.etc. But recently i decided to grow my hair out and i want my hair to be relaxed with the ability to become curly. So long story short, i decided to do a texturizer. Unfortunately with Dominican salons, they are servicing so many clients at one time, when they perform relaxers, they leave it on for too long to go service another client. which results in bone straight hair. So i decided to look for salonist on the web who specialized in what i wanted. I needed that individual attention. So i came across Tinika’s salon. Let me tell you… i definitely received that individual attention. As i arrived at (Cecilla’s Salon) not Tanika’s, she started my hair 5 min after arrival, but first she sat me down in the chair and asked me about my «hair story», exactly what my hair went through, and what the results i was looking for. I never had a salonist ask me that ever and it felt good to know that she cared. Then she made her own texturizer concoction that was great on my hair. Next she gave me a post-​relaxer conditioner that brought my hair back to it’s proper pH balance, before the neutralizing shampoo, which i loved. I never received that before, and lastly she followed up with the neutralizing shampoo and a conditioning treatment and style. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I mean yes her prices are a little steep.85 $ for texturizer and 15 $ for conditioning treatment, but you definitely get the bang for your buck. My hair looked and felt wonderful and my roots still had a curly texture. Definitely come here if you want a texturizer or relaxer with grade A service.

A year and a half ago I went natural. While I loved the thickness and texture of my hair, I knew that once I went back to college I wouldn’t be able to put the same amount of time into it. So I decided to get a texturizer but I was terrified that it would make my hair a stringy mess and I would loose all my curl pattern. I told Tinika exactly what I wanted and boy did she deliver! Not only am I pleased with my hair but she provided me with a list of products to use. Tinika is amazing. Besides making my hair look beautiful she took time to get to know me as a person. If you’re looking for a stylist to make your hair healthy and gorgeous Tinika is the woman to go to. She is absolutely fantastic.

When I set up my color treatment appointment with Tinika I had no Idea what to expect. Weeks before I gave myself chestnut/​golden brown color treatment at home to match the hair pieces I brought, and of course my hair came out orange. So I found Tinika and came in to see what she had to offer. The color books were helpful and had a wide variety, and the chestnut/​golden brown color I wanted. As usual I’m stubborn, so I thought for sure this was not going to work. But It did! and the color looks great. My hair matched the extensions I brought as well. After the color treatment Tinika recommended a deep conditioning, which made my hair moisturized but weightless. I’m definitely a satisfied customer. :-) I would love to show you all my pictures, but for some reason Unilocal is not letting me do so. I will e-​mail them to Tinika so everyone can view.

Tinika is a consummate hair professional. Her designs are creative and edgy. She also has a range of styles and expertise in her arsenal. She can get your hair ready for an evening out on the town, or for a morning interview, in very quick order. She works fast, offers suggestions about styles that complement your beautiful face, style and look. Tinika is knowledgeable about the complexities of cultural hair.
Tinika is time conscious, which I appreciate. She is also centrally located in Chelsea and the prices are reasonable. Her salon is clean, upbeat and comfortable.
Finally, she is a hair color genius. I highly recommend her to young and mature alike!
