I had breakfast and dinner here. The service for breakfast was slow but we came right around the end of breakfast so it wasn’t the biggest deal in the world– we were offered free juices. The toast was so dried out that I could have made breadcrumbs by rubbing it between my hands. Portions were okay and the food wasn’t anything spectacular for the price When we came for dinner we were surprised to find the place filled at 5:10PM but they actually pulled a table out of the back and made space for us. Again, the service was slow, but we weren’t in any position to complain. The specialty drinks were expensive but delicious. Dinner was alright but didn’t knock our socks off. I would eat here again if I was staying at The Strand.

Very good food and service. Would have liked the portions to be a bit larger, and some less expensive wine options to be available. Started with a very good, but pricey($ 18) glass of Napa 20 Rows Cab. An option for something in the $ 12 price range would have been nice but was that not available. The Buffalo’s Milk Burrata was delicious. The Lamb and Ribs entrée was very good, if a bit on the small side in terms of portion. The Baby Kale Salad was ok — we were able to have chicken added. Very friendly and attentive service, and the option for outdoor seating is a plus.

I really liked the lunch service here, and it was completely empty! I would recommend the crispy chicken sandwich, which came on a pretzel bun. The Zucca pasta was also pretty interesting. I ordered the smaller size of the pasta, which was a nice portion for a light lunch, and it was very unique. Any of the sandwiches or burgers would make for a hearty tasty lunch.

Great food and great friendly service. Very beautiful décor, went for lunch and was surprised by how lovely the food was. We went at a time when quiet so unsure if different when busy. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious outdoor lunch on a hot day. So William, our server, treated us to a complimentary sorbet dessert to cool off! Food, service & setting were awesome! I highly recommend it!

We went to the Strand Bistro on our first night in New York after travelling over from the UK that day, so we were quite tired before getting out. However as soon as we stepped in to the restaurant we instantly felt a lot more alive. Firstly its in a great location in Manhattan, and the ambience and décor of the restaurant is really cool. Our waiter was fantastic and spent a lot of time with us having a chat about where we are from etc and also explaining of the items of the menu. The food was also great and reasonably priced, I had the steak frites which was cooked to perfection and my sister had the fish option, which went along great with the wine we had. Afterwards we went up to the Top of The Strand bar which is highly recommended!

This is a restaurant inside the Strand hotel. The décor is eclectic and pleasant. Good service. Full bar. Portions are big. I had a burger which was perfectly cooked and very flavorful.

This review is for the rooftop. We came here strictly for a quick drink before going to our next location with a friend who was visiting from out of town. 1. They don’t limit the amount of people allowed up top so it’s overcrowded 2. There is only one bar with 2 bartenders 3. One of the bouncers is insanely rude(the tall one with glasses). He walks back and forth across the bar pushing through crowds trying to herd them into specific areas for no reason. I sat on what I thought was an available ledge and he walks over and instead of politely asking me to get down he says, «What’s wrong with this picture?» Then continues to berate me and say«You know better, this isn’t a stage.» Apparently it’s a DJ booth, who knew? Nice attitude! Save your time/money and go somewhere else.

Tip: Get the avocado toast… two words for you… quail egg. Yum! Also, Prime Fix menu is to-die-for and beyond reasonably priced. Staff is so attentive and friendly. Love the décor as well, kind of where I’d imagine Sherlock Homes going to get a glass of wine with his eclectic friends in 2015. :-)

Service: 2.5 stars Food: 3 stars Décor 2.5 stars When I initially arrived at the Strand I was hesitant about having a meal there because the place was empty and it was in a hotel. Well this was a decent meal but nothing great about it. I’ll probably not return. Had the restaurant week menu with the root vegetable salad(not great. I was expecting crunchy root vegetables but these were mushy), then the cacio e pepe(good but only because it was essentially mac and cheese smothered in butter. But not a trace of pepper and the waiter never came over until well after we finished, so i couldn’t get any), finally the sorbet(bad. Tasted over frozen and hard texture. Not soft and flavorful. Hint of freezer burn) The waiter was nice but inattentive especially for how empty the place was. And our food took longer than it should have. Also had the lobster dumplings. Decent but I expected more. Buttery and rich though. The décor seemed old. There was an aquarium with fish that looked like they were on the brink of death. Plus a lily on the table, the scent of which pervaded. Probably won’t return.

Strand is a rare place. Interesting people, lovely service and then there is the food and drink! I’m a small eater so the lobster dumplings(served with 2 kinds of seaweed) are heaven and a great reason to come back again and again. The dark and stormy is a rare cocktail in NYC and they do it well with authentic ginger beer. There is a big fish tank and although I usually am put off by such things I have come to a very unusual relationship with these fish – sometimes on lunch break I come to play my flute for them – and they respond to F#– who knew!

The food was excellent — and yet The Strand Bistro still deserves one star! The service was beyond abysmal. We came in for dinner on New Years Eve and ordered the fixed menu with wine pairing. The waitress repeatedly forgot to serve us our wines, and when she did remember they arrived as we finished the course. The staff never told us what we were drinking or eating for each of the seven courses, and we had to repeatedly ask for water refills. But it got worse! We asked to speak with management, who then did absolutely nothing to appease the situation. Clearly poor customer service comes down from the top. Instead of offering comps, management offered weak halfhearted excuses. And to top it all off, the restaurant GAVETHEMSELVES A TIP and misbilled us — we split the check, left no tip(for the first time ever), and, even though we signed two checks, the restaurant charged the entire balance to one of the accounts and sneakily added an 11% tip through the other account. We only discovered this when checking our credit card statements. We have never received such poor service from fast food restaurants or the post office, let alone from a $ 125 meal. Stay away.

Late dinner they had some live music. I got the skate(just because it’s so rare to find skate in a restaurant). I liked it but I would have preferred it non-crusted. My friends got the beef sirloin and the salmon. Easy and good. They served a delicious complimentary cheese bread also!

We came for restaurant week, and left engorged. The plates seem small at first, but in the end, u leave being unable to move. For apps we got the corn soup and peach salad(warm ricotta was delicious). I got the steak for dinner, it was cool, not all that impressive tho. And, the spring roll for dessert was as grand as all the reviewers say it is. You cannot leave this place without trying it. Dinner aside, I was more impressed with the outerworkings. The ambiance is wonderful. We were greeted gleefully by the hostess. The servers were all pleasant to talk to. The bathroom was unbelievably clean. The way the place was decorated was not very pretentious. I enjoyed how it was like eating in someone’s living room. I think I remember enjoying the soundtrack s well.

I came here for lunch during Restaurant Week. The food was okay nothing to brag about. I had the mac & cheese to start, then a bacon cheeseburger as my entrée and the coconut crème caramel for dessert. The mac & cheese and burger were decent however the coconut crème was delicious.

Food was just alright but service was great. We were greeted by a very nice hostess(even though the restaurant did not seem to have a hostess table/check-in area) and a very bubbly server. Flatbread: tasted like pizza. Not bad but also not amazing. Sweet potato fries: normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Burger: also, not bad but not great either. The ambience was great though. The restaurant is to the side of a fancy-looking hotel lobby.
