Burrito is massive. Good portion of meat, but the grilled chicken was kind of rubbery. They also forgot my guacamole. I have mixed feelings about this place because decent value, but the quality was kind of lacking. Likely go back to Oaxaca across the street, me thinks…

This place exceeded my expectation. The preparation of dishes is very attached to Mexican flavor, which makes it more enjoyable. I loved that they had Guava boing, totopos and salsa. The place is very small but cozy with ad hoc music. I will have to come back and try other dishes. Mole burrito is very good!, so tasty. I do recommend to share, I’m not used to eat a lot… but it was really good to throw it away.

Ordered guac, salsa and chips, tortilla soup(with avocado), soft corn tacos(chorizo and steak) and hard corn tacos(ground beef). Soup was really good, even after saving some for three days! The salsa and guac were really fresh… I could have drank the salsa it was so flavorful! I enjoyed the tacos as well, though I preferred the ground beef probably because it reminds me of a healthier Taco Bell. Delivery was prompt.

Very satisfying traditional(American) Mexican food. Highly recommended for a quick stop by for a bite to eat. Not fancy but very clean and the staff was extremely courteous. The salsas were exceptional, and all are home-made. This is not a fancy place to eat, very simple and honest food. If you are craving Mexican, then this is the place to go on the upper west side. They seem to do a very brisk take-out business, but we ate in. The bathroom is «hidden» behind the«employees only» door, but if you ask, you will be let in, and it was very clean and new. Happy to recommend.

The burritos are indeed great. I’ve had all of the chicken burritos and all were very good but my favorite is the chicken mole. The salsas are also great, especially the spicy variety which is actually spicy. Highly recommended!

Empty on the Tuesday afternoon I ventured in to finally try a burrito NOT from Chipotle. Ordered the pork tico and asked them to pack it full of all the extras(including to guac that is an extra 3.50!!). Pork was ok, but too many large chewy pieces vs the nice fall apart shred I like. Plus when I sat down to eat later I found no guacamole inside — total bummer. Barely made three stars for me, but pluses were cleanliness and quick/nice service. Price is way too high though. I’m convinced there are no good burritos outside of CA.

The steak tacos! Oh ya!!! But the hot sauce is flaming hot so go with the medium. I only get delivery so I can’t speak to the restaurant but they’ve always been fast and the food is oh so good when you want some mexican in NYC.

They say it’s hard to find decent Mexican food in New York, and then I say, you obviously have not tried The Great Burrito! They do a fantastico job serving delicious Mexican food! One of the most important qualifying factors that authenticates true Mexican cuisine is how good the salsa is. The Great Burrito exceeds expectations with their delicious fresh salsa! They offer a spicy red salsa that brings on a nice even heat that is so tasty and packed with flavor. I was very impressed! Their guacamole is totally fresh, homemade with chunks of tomato, cilantro and onion, and super delicious. I also tried their Chicken Mole and Chicken Chipotle tacos, both were excellent in flavor and great in portion! Online ordering was very easy to do and the delivery service was timely and friendly. We received everything we ordered and had plenty of napkins and eating utensils. Overall the food quality, freshness and flavor were all excellent and we were completely satisfied! My only wish is if I could order online and they deliver to California! Especially the salsa!

My bf and I ordered from here off of Seamless and were extremely disappointed. The guacamole was ok at best and was definitely not worth the cost. It had enormous chunks of avocado and wasn’t very tasty. Both the chicken and the spinach burritos($ 12 each) barely had anything else in them aside from bland rice and beans. My bf took one bite of his«chicken» burrito and threw it out immediately. Meanwhile, I tried to pick out what spinach there was and gave up after a minute. What a grand waste of money! Too bad a zero star rating isn’t available.

As you will see in the photo, I FOUND A TINYMETALHOOKINMYTACO. I normally don’t take the time to write reviews, but this is the first time something like this has ever happened to me and you all need to be warned. I ordered off of Seamless because it had a 4-star average and looked promising. It only took 2 bites of my taco for me to bite down on something hard. I thought it might be a chicken bone, but the metallic taste in my mouth made me spit it out and lo — a tiny metal hook about ¼″ long. I immediately called the restaurant and received a very insincere apology and an offer for a new taco($ 4 value). Why would I want ANOTHER taco?! I simply asked for a full refund, to which I was refused. The person on the phone told me that it was«very hard to believe something like this could have happened» and«we have never had a problem like this before,» and offered me a half refund($ 11). Frustrated, I said fine and hung up. Then I began to think of all the things that could have happened: I could have broken a tooth, cut my mouth, or even swallowed it and cut up my stomach! I called back again and the person, who turned out to be the manager(allegedly), finally agreed to a full refund($ 22). Perhaps if I would have received a full refund right away and a very sincere apology, I would not be writing this review. However, I have worked in multiple restaurants and I must say that the lack of customer service is astounding. I just wanted to eat my food and enjoy my evening, but now it is ruined. I’m not trying to manipulate my way into a free meal, and I would not be speaking up to them or you all here unless something was seriously wrong. I will say that the delivery person was nice, the person I talked to on the phone stayed calm, and what I did try prior to this metal hook fiasco was good. However, this is the first and last time I will ever be ordering from this place.

A few weeks back I was joking with the intern on my team about how super fun Taco Bell can be in the correct context. I then asserted Taco Bell as the sadly best Mexican restaurant in New York City. At which point a colleague turned aghast and challenged my to The Great Burrito. Whereas I maintain my position there is no exceptional Mexican dining in the U.S. north of Phoenix, I will concede my position regarding Taco Bell, and place Great Burrito at the top of the list for Mexican cuisine in the city.

The search continues for good Mexican in the city. I got a chicken burrito with guacamole. Ended up paying $ 17…what the heck?! It’s insanely overpriced. The burrito tasted fine but nothing special and certainly not even close to what I paid for it.

I wanted to like this place. I really did try, but it was a disappointment. I feel I have a hard time finding spinach burritos. They are rarely on menus. As we were strolling, we stopped to grab a menu and ultimately returned. There was no way I’d pass up a spinach burrito. They had other spinach options too such as quesadillas. So we ordered the spinach burrito, nachos and a small guac. It came to about $ 26. It took about 10 minutes to prepare. Well, I was completely stoked about this place till I cut into the burrito. Frozen spinach?! Get out of here! Why bother? The burrito was large, but tasteless. I had a few bites and tossed it. The nachos-eh. Limited toppings and soggy but serves us right for ordering them as take out. The highlight of the places was the guacamole. The guacamole was the best I’ve ever had. I noticed they don’t sell any sort of liquor. So as much as I’d like to write about my new favorite spinach burrito spot, I must be honest and say it was an epic fail. On to the next spinach burrito…

This place is amazing!!! My husband had the grilled chicken burito and i had grilled chicken tostada… the chicken was seasoned well, the salsa was just incredible! You get free nacho chips while you wait for your order. Service is fast, place is clean. Its really a hole in the wall. We will definitely come back here. and i want to try their quesadilla next time.

The boyfriend and I made a late night run out here for dinner(and by late, I mean 9ish) recently and I was so impressed! I’ve never been to Mexico, and I’m the kind of person that thinks of places like Taco Bell and Chipotle when I think of Mexican cuisine, so I’m the last authority you should trust on what authentic Mexican food is but shoot, I’m just going to say it anyway: this place is legit! We ordered a veggie burrito, a veggie taco, potato taco and spinach taco, as well as the guacamole with chips. I loved everything. The guacamole was amazing! The burrito was huge! And the tacos were delicious. The price isn’t exactly cheap, though. Our meal came out to around $ 40, which was fair considering how much food they give you but just be prepared to pay for more than you would at Chipotle(yes, that’s my standard to what I compare all Mexican food — terrible, I know but so what! I’m a fan of Chipotle and all comparable restaurants, this one included). Also, just a note of caution, folks. I stuffed myself silly that night, and yet woke up to a sizable breakfast for two.

I ate so much good hot Mexican food that I am now sitting in their AC drinking a gallon of water and not wanting to step into the sauna of New York City. Come here eat and feel the good feels.

Loved the food here. Had the nachos and the ground beef burrito. Reasonably priced place with only four tables. Don’t even bother trying to go in there with a large group. Only wish it could be bigger, not looking forward to the day I can’t get a table.

Literally a hole in the wall. I’ve probably passed by this place a ton of times and never noticed it until I was actually looking for it. The décor is minimal. Only a few tables. Super authentic though. I had the chipotle chicken quesadillas. Had the person serving me not said they were quesadillas, I would have thought they were tacos. Then again, what really is the difference between quesadillas and tacos? Mostly just the shape. It was not served with rice and beans like the menu said. Maybe I did get the wrong item? I don’t know. Anyway, the chicken in the quesadilla was super tender. The meat was overflowing. I also had a side of guacamole with chips which was a tad too chunky for me. It was basically sliced up avocados. The order came with green salsa. I ordered medium and it was still pretty spicy. Came out to about $ 15. Not very expensive, but not very cheap either(considering the ambiance).

This is by far the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food in the UWS. You won’t find better beans and rice you won’t find better salsa/dip. They have this crazy dip with salsa, sour cream, guac, black beans, pinto beans, and Jack cheese that is pretty much the super bowl of all dips. It is World Cup party worthy! The burritos are huge, a bit too much honestly. The tacos are great and their quesadillas are really filling.
