Awesome place to study. The barista know their stuff and give you quality drinks. Try to get a seat at the bar because they fill up fast

Little secret is this place is a Karaōke bar at night. When I visited it as it’s daytime self, I thought to myself, oh wow these guys must also own a Karaōke bar I’ve been to once, turns out it was the same place DUH! GREAT coffee, nice people behind the bar, nice place to study or work!

Mocha tasted like milk. The Vietnamese coffee is really weak too. No idea how this place has so many stars.

Great quiet location to grab a coffee. It’s a literal coffee bar. The baristas are«bartenders»! Being from CA it’s a really cool idea! The drinks are great, the only reason why I give it 4 stars, the seating isn’t that comfortable!

This place is very unassuming on the outside. In fact, I missed it twice coming up and down the street. If it helps, it’s adjacent and to the left of a hipster record store! Anyways, this place is a great choice if you want to enjoy a quality latte and grab a seat with a friend(or perhaps get some work done on your laptop). The only drag is the hours. I like it when my coffee shops stay open until at least 10PM. It’s NYC for crying out loud! Fun Fact: This place doubles as a Karoake Bar. Very strange… but shoulder shrug and move along! Or sing along?

Great coffee, great coffee art, personable and friendly baristas, and nice atmosphere with tons of outlets! There are personal rooms if you need to work on a project or have a meeting. I tried connecting to the WiFi but it didn’t work for me. My neighbor seemed like he was using the internet though, so it might’ve been just me.

B-grade coffee shop in the West Village. I came here on a Monday morning to get some work done while visiting New York. The shop itself was very quiet on a Monday morning, just a few people sitting at the bar doing work. Atmosphere here isn’t much to speak of. Shop itself is a bit dark and dingy with a run down entryway. The barista behind the counter was very friendly though and made me a skim latte straight away. I took a table by the outlets along the wall and set up shop. Their wifi is super fast. The latte and wifi were great. The atmosphere left a bit to be desired for me.

This place is a great study spot if you actually are able to find a seat. They have wifi that works decently well, and the seating is rather comfortable. In terms of the coffee, the quality is top notch. For what you are paying, the portion is pretty generous and the quality is good. Personally, I got a latte with almond milk, and it was delicious. The reason I gave 4 stars was because the coffee wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. It became rather cold after only allowing it to sit for a few minutes.

Absolutely the best Manhattan coffee shop if you’re looking to get some studying or work done. Plenty of room, outlets, and great coffee. Highly recommend this place!

Love this place. I like to drop by whenever I’m in the area. The coffee selection is solid and you can tell the owner puts a lot of heart into his product. There are several tea options too. Service is friendly and it’s a good place to study or grab a coffee with friends. They have a bar where you can sit at like a regular bar to enjoy your coffee or do work. At night the space turns into a karaōke bar, during the day you can rent the rooms for study or work meetings. They used to have amazing cookies and muffins, hope they bring them back!

This was one of the most enjoyable study session locations in the city since I moved here. It made studying Histology bearable. Despite it being Halloween with potential crazy Hallow’s eve enthusiasts running amuck outside everyone was friendly and chipper! The music was at the perfect decibel level and wasnt overbearing. I barely needed my headphones! I also liked the mix: a capella, jazz, old school hip hop, a little bit of dance pop throughout the day. The staff did not pressure you to leave or buy anything and made sure you got what you asked for. Their thai tea isnt sweet just like I like it. Because they didn’t pressure me I bought more because their attitudes were so positive. I will be studying or working here again. Thank y’all!

Great coffee, quiet environment, perfect for studying or just browsing your computer. They also have karaōke rooms in the back although I’ve yet to try those. Latte($ 4.00)

A stop on the trusty CUPS app and enjoyed the experience. It’s hidden in some weird turn in the West Village and yes the door is duct-taped but inside will be the quietest place to study. I came here looking for a regular café experience, somewhere to sit with a couple of friends and talk with soothing music in the background. We were shocked to find no music and a row of busy 20somethings at the bar, all on their laptops typing away. We were the only ones whispering in a back table. There were a limited number of seats but there are nice chair cushions to rest on while you enjoy your drink. My iced latte with almond milk was very refreshing. Most lattes do a poor job at overpowering the milk flavor in the latte, but this one hit the spot. My boyfriend had his first cortado there and he liked that it was bold but it left a heavy, milky note on his palette. Overall, he enjoyed it though. The strangest thing was that if you looked to the back, there were karaōke rooms and my best guess is that it turns into a karaōke place at night. I peeked in when I went to use the restrooms and you could see study groups in there, with papers spread all over. Recommended experience and would study here next time! There were loose tea leafs on the menu that I’ll have to try next time.

It’s hard to imagine a coffee shop in the city that is quiet, welcoming, and tourist free. The coffee foundry is such a place, offering coffee and loose leaf teas. The set up is a long concrete bar counter running down almost the entire length of the shop with four work tables set to the side. There are outlets under the bar and the music is unobtrusive. Most notably– the barista makes excellent espresso drinks and is very attentive to his patron’s needs. I had been working there for almost two hours and instead of dropping hints for my departure, he brought over a glass of ice water. Great work space, well-made espressos, and void of pretentious coffee shop vibes.

Yes. I don’t know if there’s anything else to say. This place is incredible! Good coffee, friendly«bar“Istas and outlets and wifi and food oh my! I LOVETHISPLACE. I can’t believe I’ve never been there before! Also did’t feel pressured to keep purchasing things. I do wish it was a bit more«Burp Castle» like, where people were encouraged to be quieter for the workers, bu, eh, can’t have everything!

Foundry Coffee NY Manhattan West Village 1pm Monday 17th August 2015 Five Stars It’s a mixture of coffee shop and Karaōke bar. You would never stumble upon this place because it’s extremely unostentatious. It’s next door to the Bleecker Street Record Store. The place is well air conditioned. There is a large unvarnished concrete bar counter seating about 12 – 15. There are outlets underneath. There are four smaller tables filled with laptop workers furiously typing away. They have an atm, printer, and private rooms to rent. There was low volume jazz music playing and only a couple people talking. I ordered an iced coffee using the Cups App. It came in a Kirin Ichiban pint glass. The coffee was smooth and delicious especially with some half and half. The ice was low grade chip. I enjoyed this place for its low key atmosphere.

If you can’t decide which coffee to buy, it’s Coffee Floundery. And if you pick someone up or get picked up and have animal-style fun times, then it’s Coffee Poundry. If a female is involved, then it may include her Coffee Moundry. Or not. I was here in 2014 with my coffee-loving food tour friend, and we weren’t impressed at all. The flavour of the coffee just reminded us of Starbucks. We tend to agree on coffees, for some reason. Lovely little environment in here. Tiny little coffee shop, fun place to be. Good for students and working on laptops. Other than that, the same exact experience as I had at Blue Bottle Coffee, almost to the letter. Again, this coffee is basically like a stronger version of Starbucks. I’m sure it’s very good if that’s what you like(intense caffeine shots), but that’s the opposite of what I like. I prefer milky, creamy, silky, very gentle teas and coffees, such as Tim Hortons 4&4, or maybe a Dunkin Donuts 4&4. So Starbucks to me is the ultimate nightmare. And anyone that is similar to Starbucks in any way is not going to get it done for me. They were pretty nice servers, so that’s a good thing. While I appreciate that this is, to many people, the best coffee in town… I found it to be something I’d never drink again. It scores 3 just because it’s local, not corporate. Even more local than Blue Bottle. I’m just not into the harsh Starbucksy coffees. And according to Garland, «If more people feel like you do about this place, it will become The Lost Foundry.»

Just got a simple 3 $ iced coffee to study. Good free wifi and generous size of coffee. Keep in mind, they only have coffee & tea — no snacks or anything. Lots of people here to do their work. I like it.

I decided to try a new place to get some work done today, so I hopped on Unilocal!and found The Coffee Foundry. Not too far from the train, but you would definitely miss this place if you weren’t looking closely. When you enter, you can tell that it’s a bar by night — glimmering streamers, karaōke signage and TVs, etc. It was a clean, chill place, so I was already pleased by the atmosphere. I went in with the expectation to grab a good pastry with my coffee. I referred to the menu on the wall: strictly drinks. But, I did see a guest with a small plate, so I remained optimistic. I ordered an iced coffee with almond milk, and the transaction was a little bit awkward. It takes about 2 minutes to put together an iced coffee, but they told me to have a seat & they’d let me know when it was ready. So, I put my bag down, removed my coat… and my coffee was ready. I had to gracefully lean over another customer to pay via Squarespace, but first I asked, «Do you have a food menu?» The barista said, «Uhh. not really… by now all we have are, like, bagels. Lunch menu ends at 2PM.» Since it didn’t seem like he was interested in selling me that, I wasn’t interested in trying it. Bummer for everyone. The coffee wasn’t a life-changing experience, but I did enjoy that it came in a beer mug. Nice touch for a «classy» lady like myself! Aside from those setbacks, I did enjoy my time spent here. Free WiFi with plenty of space for everyone. I was there for over 3 hours & kept pressuring myself to buy something else… but the staff genuinely didn’t seem to care how long I was there. And, as a karaōke queen myself, I would definitely be interested in coming back and checking out how this place transforms every night.

I’m not sure how I became friends with them on IG, but I have been following their pix for quite some time. I finally got to visit on a saturday afternoon. I desperately needed to get some work done, so i was hoping this place was quite. I think i found a gem in the west village. After having a lovely brunch with my best friend, I walked a few blocks to this place — it is a minimally decorated, low key establishment. Has plenty of outlets and space for people to study. I was a bit surprised to find karaōke rooms(Korean NRB). I saw people booking these rooms and going into them and thought, «it’s 1 pm. who does karaōke in the afternoon?» It turns out they are rented out for meetings and larger groups. GENIUS! Music was playing quietly. Bathroom was clean. the bar itself was perfect for people who were working on their laptops and not needing much space. I got a table because i had tons of papers i needed for the work i was doing. I am not consuming caffeine at the moment, so i ordered a decaf latte. $ 5. I rarely get lattes, but i wanted to indulge — i really don’t like decaf. but the latte was beautiful. I can’t really comment on the coffee because decaf does not do justice. If I am ever in this part of NYC, i will def be back.
