Found the groupon for this place and decided to give it a try. Met a friend for dinner here around 6pm on a Wed and wasn’t too crowded. Ended up sitting at a table in the back and was informed by the waitress that the happy hour deals couldn’t be applied to the groupon(so drinks were full price). They have a huge selection of beers both draft and bottle. The menu was typical bar food, burgers, salads, wraps. I ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese which was great! We decided to splurge and have the fried peanut butter and jelly for dessert. Delicious but definitely share it! The waitress was very attentive and interactive with us. Food came out in about 10 minutes. The restaurant got more busy as we sat there; most people just having drinks and standing towards the front. There was a large group next to us sitting around a circle table; in the middle of the table were personal drafts that I believe the group selects. Definitely cool for a company happy hour. If I’m in the area I’ll stop in again. Definitely grab the groupon and get more for your money.

I must say this place has redeemed itself. While having been here some time ago I decided to give it a try after my friend suggested the place. I was skeptical but my friend was far too convincing so I gave it a try. I was amazed by the food but what was far more remarkable was that I assumed that due to high volume of people the service would be slow. I was shocked when our food arrived so fast. I would say a 7 minute wait after ordering. The cherry on top was that everything was delicious. I will be coming back as long as the food, drinks, and service remains up to par.

First time here last weekend, I wouldn’t recommend this place for brunch or food really. I came here for friends trivia and Sunday brunch. The night before I was out till late and was starving and looking forward to brunch and trivia! I didn’t research the place before going, but I really wish I would have. We waited almost an hour for the food. I ordered a breakfast wrap with potatoes. The potatoes were super salty. My friend and I ordered French toast to share, and it arrived burned and they didn’t offer syrup with the toast. The waitress seemed so busy too, I figured it would be forever before she actually gave us the syrup if we requested it. I also had ordered water before our food and that also took so long to arrive. I had to ask for the water again, seems the waitress had forgotten. The manager did offered us a free round of drinks, but I honestly was starving and the food wasn’t impressive. So the free drinks wasn’t going to help my hunger. All in all I had a good time with my friends and the trivia. Wouldn’t recommend this place for brunch tho.

I wish I couldve given this POOR excuse of a business half a star(IF I WERESOKIND). If you are looking for a waste of time, discrimination and poor customer service then this is the place for you undoubtedly! I went to this awful bar on April 9th as I purchased their groupon for $ 50 worth of food for up to four people. I came from the Bronx with two friends expecting to have a good night in the city after shopping. I called that day at 4pm and asked the person who picked up the phone if it is ok if three people use the groupon instead of four people, she stated she would ask her manager and let me know. After a couple of minutes she came back on the line and said the manager says it will be ok and I let her know I will be coming later and she said that’s fine. My friends and I went to this disgusting establishment about 9pm. We were the only people there of color. We seated ourselves and waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. When this girl did she only said Goodnight and put our menus down and went to ring up another table with 3 people using their groupon as well. I even went to the bathroom and came back and no one took our order until we had to stop someone. We started to order and told them about the groupon and that we called earlier. All of a sudden the server stated she had to ask her manager because they had this problem with the group of three people I witnessed her ringing up. I SAWHERPLEASANTLYTAKINGTHEIRGROUPON, THEYHADNOPROBLEMS. The manager came, female with long dark hair early 30’s or late 20’s. We explained to her that we called and a manager stated that it was fine plus the food and drinks we were ordering would greatly surpass the $ 50 value as there is no way that groupon could do for 4 people anyway. The manager was the most condescending, rude and unprofessional worker I have met in a MANAGERIAL position. She kept telling us that we should have read groupon’s fine print in a way as if she is implying we are illiterate. No matter how we tried to explain and show her the phone call that a manager told us it will be accepted and we came from the Bronx, she kept saying that we should just get a refund from groupon then. ARE U FREAKINGKIDDING? WHOHIREDTHISPERSON? Finally she annoyingly stated she would accept the groupon and walked off to talk to the server right across from us COMPLAININGABOUTUS! U JUSTCANTGETMOREUNPROFESSIONALTHANTHAT! We told her she is unprofessional and we were leaving and that she is a discriminatory ***** GOATYOUROWNPERIL!

I’ve hit this place for its well priced happy hours– There is a catch. It’s chronically understaffed and service suffers. It’s a shame given its tap list and potential. I predict it’s not long for this world before yet another bar /restaurant has a for rent sign. Why is the bar tender also the only waitress hostess and probably the cook as well? Please clean the bar of spent glasses and bottles. Mismanaged.

Be careful when you walk in here. They advertise a good deal on the street and then don’t honor it when you order. For example, they say that there are $ 4 beers for every march madness game. However, what they fail to mention is that the special does not exist on holidays. So, on St Patrick’s Day, when you want to enjoy a basketball game, the drink special doesn’t exist. They don’t tell you this until you order, which is BS. It also takes them forever to get your food. Even though the place has a nice layout, they need to get a clue about proper advertising and customer service.

Too loud for a dinner, however the food was good! It’s better for just have a drinks And watch tv! I rather go to another place for dinner. I brought a Groupon here to order $ 30 worth of food, I got the avacado burger with fries and steak tacos both were on point but a bit on the salty side! But the service was quick and attentive! Just too loud to have a conversation and too crowded for a dinner. Mostly people there are there to watch a game and drink beer! Came to the wrong place for dinner and felt out of place! They shouldn’t do dinner deals on groupon but rather drinks deals instead!

I came here recently for a birthday party on Friday night in the back room. The back room was small, private, very well lit. The bar tender was very nice and accommodating and seemed to enjoy her job which is always nice. Everyone had a great time. Drinks were reasonable priced for NYC. We especially enjoyed our silly pictures being posted on the main screen.

*** Great music, Helpful staff, Wide selection of beverages *** I came here a few days ago with a group of friends. It’s a very inviting space and there’s a lot of room to mingle. The music is top 40’s and hip hop. I would definitely come back here.

After being back here after a handful of bad experiences I gotta say, it’s gotten better(service-wise). I came here for open bar this past weekend and the place got very crowded quickly(estimate of 150+ people at once). It seemed that the bartenders were understaffed and many consumers had to wait 20+ minutes for one drink. My friends & I were lucky enough to be sitting at the bar and didn’t have to wait over 5 minutes for a drink but we were being sat on and pushed by a lot of other already drunk people next to us. Some of us even got drinks spilt on here and there but it was to be expected. It was an experience to say the least. I prefer coming here on a slower time of day typically Thursdays at 5 – 6PM.

I’ve spent many Sundays at this bar during football season and I enjoy it. The place has great potential but needs some investment in the service. I’ve ordered a wide variety of food and everything is good, the wings I would say are great. Nachos, sliders, sandwiches all very solid. My biggest complaint is the level of service, the servers work hard and are always very nice and accommodating but it just seems like they always one or two staff short. On multiple occasions I would have ordered another appetizer or had a few more drinks but I couldn’t find a waitress!

Came here with some friends for lunch and was kind of disappointed. It’s a nice bar to drink at and catch a game with friends, but the food was not great. Fried pickles were soggy and we ate maybe two. Wings were average, nothing special. I got the Caesar salad. Not sure how you mess up a Caesar salad, but they did. The dressing was watery and not good. I had a few bites but couldn’t eat the rest. My friend said the Boca burger was good, so maybe stick with that. The white sangria was delicious and I highly recommend that to drink. It was very refreshing and not too sugary/sweet which I like. Overall, it’s a decent sports bar and perhaps I’ll be back for drinks and a game, but will probably stay away from the food next time.

A buddy of mine has decided to give up his law career and relocate to Brazil, bummer! So to celebrate his departure, we decided to attend Tuesday night trivia. I was greeted by a hostess upon entering which is not the norm, but is welcoming for a bar. I inquired as to where the trivia would take place and I was seated. The bar itself has a relatively long walkway and a backroom area which looks similar to a library, sorta different than expected. The waitress tells me about the specials which are pretty standard to any bar. They offer $ 4 vodka flavors which confused me because I thought they were actual drinks, but they were merely just flavors. Also, Sam Adams for $ 4. They have different daily specials and on Tuesdays, they offer half off all burgers except two. I opted for the Boca Burger(which is just a standard cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and onions on a pretzel roll) and fries. The food came out quickly, but both the burger and fries were good and I enjoyed the well toasted bread, but were extremely salty. The waitress was very attentive and constantly checked to make sure things were okay and refilling water. Overall, its the typical bar and nothing stood out. I’m giving Tavern three stars due to the excesive salt and the bathroom which was not up to par and had an awful smell. I would come here again for trivia but that’s probably the sole reason for a return visit.

My friends and I were trying to find a sports bar to get a bite to eat and watch a Saturday night football game. There was a decent crowd at the bar so we decided to head in. The back with the tables was desolate, but we got there at an in between time. When we asked for a table the hostess mentioned that we would have to be out of this area by 9 because they had a party coming in, which was kind of a bummer because the game started at 8:25. She also mentioned there was no waitress service and we needed to order everything at the bar. This was fine with us, but I think our experience would have been better if we didn’t have a time limit and had some waitress service. Good place to go if your just looking for a few drinks at the bar. The back room looks cool might be back to have an event back there.

I really cant complain too much about my experience here. A friend rented out the back room for her birthday so I wasn’t dealing with the main area. The bar only mandated a minimum spend and didn’t charge for use of the room. There were lots of tvs back there and seating and it could comfortable fit around 30 I would guess. We had our own bartender who was very nice and quite quick considering she had to go to the main bar to get all the beers. I didn’t get any food but stole a few fries and saw the burgers and nachos which looked delicious. Happy hour prices are good and they have a huge selection of beers for $ 4. I would definitely consider hosting a party here and I’d like to come back with some friends to check out those table with the taps.

Came here a few months back but this place is pretty cool. Decent amount of space, if you can find a table in the back and they have pretty solid drink specials as well. They run a number of promotions and last night I came because a friend had won unlimited drinks during happy hour and everyone else that came with him got discounted drinks. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking in.

Worst. Bar. Ever. Came last Thursday(10⁄22) with three other girls. Waitress took my card to hold for the bill according to their«policy»(they never did it before and I have been there on two previous occasions; I suspect another reason for their decision to do so this time). She promised she would give it back to me when she brought the bill, after I expressed concern over them taking my card. We asked for our bill when we were ready to head out. My friends and I paid for the bill, which was approximately $ 66, with cash, as we had intended to do. Of course the waitress did not bring back my card and I too forgot to ask her for it. And of course I only realized it the next day when I reached for my card to pay for something. And yet again, of course I immediately called the establishment as soon as I’d remembered. First, I spoke with the hostess who put me on hold, then told me she would«call me back» because she had to look for my card. 30 minutes passed and she never called back, so I called again. This time, I was transferred to the general manager, who, after I explained the situation about leaving my card there, claimed to go look for it. She returned in less than 5 minutes to say that my card was not there and questioned if Tavern was the last place I used my card. I informed her that the Duane Reade across the street was the last place I used my card to retrieve cash specifically to use at Tavern. The general manager was extremely dismissive, telling me that she knows none of her staff would have taken/stolen my card, and suggested that I call my bank to cancel my card. I didn’t appreciate her flippant attitude towards me and I remember calling her a f*cking asshole before hanging up. After hanging up, I checked my bank statement online and noticed there was a pending charge for $ 15.20 from Tavern. At this point, I became irate. Where did this charge come from if my guests and I paid cash? I immediately hopped on the train and made my way to Tavern. When I got there I demanded to speak to the general manager. When I showed her the pending charge of $ 15.20 on my bank statement, that was when she actually sent an employee to look for my card. In less than 3 minutes, the employee returned with my card. So, not only was I hella pissed about the fact that it took them less than 3 minutes to «find» my card, I was even more pissed about the charge and demanded they explain where this charge came from. The GM tells me that she would go speak with the waitress who was our server. She left and returned about 5 minutes later and produced two«bills»(which were printed out from whatever billing system they use). The first bill was the bill showing the amount for approximately $ 66, which I confirmed was the bill we paid for. The second«bill» for $ 15.20 was for some steak tacos that the GM claimed we ordered and didn’t pay for. At this point, I was beyond irate. I told her we never ordered steak tacos and if we did order them, why weren’t they on our bill? It didn’t make sense that we would pay for one bill and not the other. She suggested that«we left» before paying for the steak tacos… the steak tacos we didn’t order. I told her I believed she and her establishment were engaging in fraud and informed her that I would be heading to the police station to file a criminal report. She said go ahead. She then offered me the choice of giving me my money back in cash, or disputing the charge on my card with my bank. Of course I took the cash(I am not stupid), but I also told her I would be filing a report of credit card fraud at the police precinct down the street. The GM was such a bitch, getting an attitude with me and telling me that I did not have to get loud and aggressive. Really? After you and your workers stole money from me? I had every right to get loud and aggressive. This is the worst place ever. When I went to the police precinct on 21st street and informed the officer who took my statement about the incident, one of his colleagues, an older woman, informed him that she’s heard a lot of complaints about Tavern… if only I knew. The officer informed me that I couldn’t file a report until the charge went through, which it ultimately did. And so, indeed, Tavern will not be hearing the last of me. The worst establishment ever. Only come here if you don’t mind your card being stolen and later charged by the employees at this establishment.

Came here for a work party. They have a ton of TVs, these weird tables with digital taps built in the middle, and a private library-themed space in the back. Their happy hour includes all draft beers, which is actually a decent selection. They have far more bottles, but those are full price. As for their food, we had all of their standard bar fare. Sliders, weird sliders with gorgonzola and apple slices, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, and way more. So. Much. Food. Also, I could feel my arteries clogging. But it was pretty good, at least as far as bar food goes.

I’ve been to Tavern twice now. More recently I happened to have won a free happy hour special.(Not even to mention their happy hour specials are extremely poor -$ 5 for crappy vodka drinks). But I will not be coming back anytime soon due to the homophobic staff. I invited a couple of my colleagues after work to join me at Tavern. We were extremely nice and tipping the bartenders well throughout the night. Every time I tried ordering a drink, I was met with a rude passive aggressive side eye, until finally they would acknowledge my existence. Near the end of the night I ordered a last beer, and three sips in I had to go to the bathroom, so naturally I placed my beer down with my friends and made my way down the disheveled stairwell to be surprisingly met by a bathroom attendant. THISPLACEIS A MESS. You are a trashy washed up bar– not a club, nothing else. When I got back upstairs the bartender stopped me and bitterly accused me of sharing my drinks. When I told her, «I literally went to the bathroom, you just saw me.» She looks me up and down and scoffs that I’ll be kicked out it happens again. Planning on leaving, I finish my beer and place it on the counter. When less than three minutes go by, and the same older, sad excuse of a wannabe hip mother from Staten Island shoos me out of the bar WITHTHE«BOUNCER»(mind you I weigh 115lbs and am 5’5″) she yells at me, «Alright get out. You’re sharing your drinks with your friends» and gives my partner a dirty look as she shoos me out. Shocked I literally am speechless and say how ridiculous the situation was. She then mumbles«fucking fag» as I walk out the doors. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had, anywhere in my entire life! My colleagues and I will definitely never be returning and will be doing my part at assuring this issue does not get swept under the rug and left unnoticed. Oh and to the sad older woman– your red dyed extensions are horrendous. You did a public service working at a dimly lit bar.

Pretty nice bar with friendly staff. They have a pretty good amount of beer selections and at happy hour, many of the choices are only 4 dollars. Katie the manager of tavern was able to help us reserve a few tables for a going away party and even hooked up the person goin away with a bracelet for free drinks. They provide a happy hour raffle, winner gets free drinks but friends of winner doesnt really get any perks. Katie was also able to help us set up beer pong which our group loved. The night that we went, the dj was also killin it! Overall decent bar, would come back.
