CLOSED There was an eviction notice on the window last week, and as of yesterday all the furniture is gone. It’s a shame, this place good food.

Went here on Valentine’s Day once. It was delicious and they gave us a free side dish(I’m easily pleased by free things). I’d stick to the curries though The more creative(fusion-y) dishes were oddly dry and a bit on the bland side but I loooved my lamb curry and the samosas. And they were dry and bland in the way that I think is meant to cater to Midwestern businessmen and tourists(so hey, they got it going there). I also give it a star for the chill and clean atmosphere. Sometimes I just want to eat Indian food comfortably. A lot of the Indian places in the neighborhood(re: outside Jackson Heights) are full of drunk hipsters yelling and that’s not my cup of tea. Ah, and it’s well-lit. I enjoyed being able to see my food.

We walked in on a Saturday evening and to our surprise the place was empty — apparently they had a lot of delivery orders because their delivery guy was constantly in and out. Not sure if it’s like this on a very busy day but our service was excellent. The food was also 5 stars — their portions are bigger than the average NYC restaurants and they give you extra rice at no cost. For an Indian restaurant I found their dishes to have the perfect combination of flavor and spiciness. The price was somewhat higher than similar restaurants but it was definitely worth it given the size of the dishes.

Loved it! Bhel poori was so refreshing. Ginger mint tea was lovely. Spicy vegetable vindaloo was very spicy and tasty. A must eat!

Maybe it was just an off day, but overall opinion of the food(lunch buffet) is that it has gone downhill somewhat. I even asked if the chef had changed, and was told that it has been the same chef during the past two years. About three months ago, my son and I had a really excellent lunch. Flavorful and fresh items, even at a slightly later hour(buffet again). In the past, every time I had had the tandoori chicken, it was free from the ubiquitous red food dye, relying instead on flavor. This time it was bright red, and dry as a bone. The whole meal(other than the naan) seemed like«yesterday’s» food. Maybe the chef was off/sick/drunk/in jail? I will give it another try before I move on for good, and will update this review.

This review is for the $ 13.95 lunch buffet. I was curious about this place since it’s just around the block from my office. Unfortunately, curiosity got the best of me when I went here last week. Everything was just tasteless save for the barely passable tandoori chicken. It was just downright disappointing since I could get better Indian and Pakistani food on Church Street half a block away and at half the price! The only thing it had going for it was the ambiance. However, I was seated by the window across from the salad bar in such a way that I had to wait for people to clear the bar before I could walk to the main buffet. I haven’t tried their dinner or weekend lunch, but first impressions count, especially when a bevy of options are available in the neighborhood. Therefore, you won’t ever find me at Taj Tribeca again.

To be honest I’m not really a fan(4 star rating) but they do have good food. I’m just for some reason not really impressed or drawn to go back. Maybe because it was a little on the pricey side… I actually went with a group and we had a special set dinner where we got to try different types of curries and nans. It was all vegetarian, but very filling food. I would recommend coming here if you’re in the mood for good, nice Indian dinner.

As someone who has grown up on Indian food, this place was ok for me. I’ve eaten better, but don’t get me wrong, the food is definitely not bad. The Kashmiri naan and the mulligatany were amazing! I also ate raita, which was standard, and aloo naan(naan that is stuffed with potato), which was bizarrely spiced, so I don’t know if I would order it the next time, but if anything, eat the kashmiri naan! The ambience is pretty decent. It still had its Holiday lights up and played the best Bollwood songs from the 90’s(the instrumental versions), so all in all, it wasn’t too bad. Would I go back? Most definitely to take out the kashmiri naan, but I’ve eaten better Indian fare in other places.

I am inexperienced in Indian cuisine, so I can’t quite rate it, but I enjoyed my meal. I had the mulligatawny soup with pudina paratha. They were both delicious and went together really great. Actually, everyone in my group ordered a different variety of bread, and I thought they were all tasty. I especially recommend the kashmiri naan. I liked my visit here, but it didn’t really«wow» me. Customer service was friendly… when it occurred. It felt virtually nonexistent at times. The décor and music were nice, though, and the prices were very reasonable.

The food is not great but its not bad either. I went here for lunch with a couple of coworkers and we all got the lunch buffet which for the area wasn’t to pricey. The food selection was okay but I felt like the curry was not spicy and when i get curry i want it to be so spicy that it makes my noise run lol… sorry that may be a little TMI but that was to give u an idea of how i like my spicy food. I would go back because again its fairly cheap and the service was okay but I’ve had much better Indian food.

Very bad food. Period. Ordered the veg vindaloo and paneer tikka. Paneer tikka did not have any seasoning whatsoever and I couldn’t consume the vindaloo. Beyond pathetic. Saving grace: the Taj Mahal beer. Stay away from this place.

My friend and I had their curries for dinner and I have to say, it was better than many other Indian restaurants we have been to downtown. We had their Tikka Masala and Malai Kofta. Tikka Masala had a little kick to it and it was more tomato base than cream, which I didn’t have a problem with. The curry was delicious with plenty of meat. Malai Koft was creamy and loved the dumplings. It has a crunchy exterior with soft center that goes oh so well with your rice. Additional note, they’ll give you more rice without extra charge if you ask for it. The reason they don’t get 5 star from me is because waitress was terrible. She wasn’t rude, but extremely slow and not know much about the menu. I’d come back, but wow, it was empty on a Thursday night for dinner. Hope they stay alive.

This is an update to my previous review. My first impression of this place was that it was very good, but I can now confirm that it is consistently very good. Another thing I would like to add is that the staff is always very welcoming and accommodating. This isn’t something I care much about, but its nice to know that you can take a date there and not worry about an awkward or unfriendly staff.

We do so many things over the weekend that I forget most of the times to review the businesses. We went to this one on the Memorial day weekend after doing the Governor’s Island Ferry. We strolled in the entire neighborhood and didn’t find any decent place open. We stumbled upon this place while escaping from the stale food of the nearby eatery. My husband ordered the special which was chicken biryani and said that it was lip smacking. He finished it all. I ordered chickpeas and mint naan for myself. Both of us were very very happy for all the food that we ordered. The food was flavorful and decently close enough to the food that we find in the restaurants in India. The portions were also of good size. We are definitely going back again with family and friends and also for their lunch buffet.

After looking for some indian food close to our hotel, we found this place and were optimistic based on the reviews but were kind of let down after our meal. We ordered the staples: garlic nan, mango chutney, chicken tikka masala and seekh kabab and nothing really stood out as worthy of 4 stars. On top of that, they forgot the chutney and my friend’s tea completely and only brought them once we asked. Wish I could say more but this place is simply average.

One word, AWEFUL By far the worst food I have ever had! Allow me to explain: — DRY chicken — Mint Basil Chicken; sauce served in a THIMBLE sized container — DRIED, FRIED, OLD crab cakes; easily relatable to my cat’s food. –COLDFOOD served fifty minutes after I ordered online. — Found crunch and hard surprises in my pool of Chicken curry(with four chicken pellets swimming around in it.) In other words: nothing to rave about or write home to the kids about. Do you love bland Indian food? Then this is your place?! Where you other folks eating this food for munchies while smoking pot? Clearly you were. THISPLACEIS A DUMPANDTHEFOOD, TOO!

Ive been here for lunch, Ive been here for dinner, and Ive gotten take-out from here. Right now, I’m waiting for my dinner delivery from here, as I write this review. my neighborhood has so many indian restaurants(which probably is true anywhere in manhattan, now that i think of it), and this one is my favorite. their dishes have that extra little something that makes them more than just some spicy sauce u throw over ur rice. ull taste it when u eat there ull also see that extra something on the check after u eat there. they are slightly more expensive than other places… but not enough to deter me from eating/ordering from here. Their curries so far have been consistently good, but that kashmiri naan is so good i wanna marry it. The alcohol list could use a little work.

My colleagues and I were tired of the same lunch delivery options and were in the mood for something new. Though we had sampled various ethnic fares, such as Thai, Malaysian, Japanese, and more, we had neglected to locate a quality source for Indian delivery. I performed some research and came across Taj Tribeca and its positive reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. For a reasonable $ 14, I ordered the Tandoori Prix Fixe Special, which centered around Mint & Basil Chicken Tikkas and also included the Lentil of the Day, Naan, and Basmati Rice. The hunks of chicken had been marinated in fresh basil, mint, coriander, and spices. The flavoring was spot on, but the meat was a bit grizzly. The rice was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious when mixed in with the freshly blended Mango Chutney. The highlight of the meal, however, was the café’s special Kashmiri Naan. The doughy bread was a bold red color due to its filling of almonds, cashews, pistachios, coconut, dried apricots, and cherries. The tart and nutty pastry was more like an addicting dessert than a starchy starter. Taj Tribeca delivered flavorful cuisine in a fast and efficient manner. Online ordering helped to ease the process as well.

I am not a huge fan of Indian food but every once in a while I am in the mood for it. Last night I was in the mood for it AND I wasn’t in the mood for leaving my apartment. And so, I turned to seamless web. I am generally weary of ordering food from seamless because it is so hit or miss but Unilocal reassured me. I ordered the chicken tikka masala because I am boring like that and my bf ordered the lamb vindaloo because he loves spicey things way more than is natural. It wasn’t spicey enough for him to be entirely happy but it was spicey enough for him not to complain. I loved my chicken tikka. They give you the perfect amount of rice to go with it. Also, we ordered garlic and plain naan which I view as essential to Indian food. I will definitely be adding this place to my staples. The only draw back for me was that it cost $ 44 for our food plus tip. That is a bit more than I want to spend on a regular basis for take out but as I said, it was delicious!

The most notable things about this particular Indian/Pakistani restaurant are the upscale atmosphere and the exceptional service you’d expect to accompany a nice establishment. All of the curries we ordered — chicken tikka masala, aloo ghobi, a lamb curry and a tofu curry — were all quite tasty. The naan and samosas were good as well. The only issue I have is that I could easily go to a hole-in-the-wall Indian/Pakistani restaurant and get the same quality of food for less than half the price. The food here is good, but you should really come here more if you are looking for cleanliness in an establishment, a more upscale atmosphere, enjoy good service and don’t mind the aforementioned things having a direct effect on the price of your food.
