expensive food should be palatable.

decent indian food delivery for those of us living in the culinary wasteland of the financial district. paneer tikka masala & chicken tikka masala are good(if not a bit too sweet), but the sag paneer is tasteless – the cream-to-spinach ratio veers a bit too heavily on the cream side. i finally saw the physical embodiment of this place a week ago, and though i was a bit disappointed to see that my indian delivery was not coming from a palatial restaurant, the digs weren’t completely grimy or particularly suspect from the outside. UPDATE: i work close to Kiran, so i finally ate on the premises for their lunch buffet($ 10.95). eating in gives me a totally different perspective, and i don’t think i’ll be ordering any more delivery now that i’ve seen the place from the inside. it’s dark, old, and grungy inside, and nothing seems particularly clean. my water had a small dust bunny floating on top of it. the plates and bowls for the buffet were all chipped, and the silverware was cheap quality, with some tines on many of the forks askew. they’re obviously skimping on hardware, but that just makes me question both the quality of everything else and their judgment. the food was decent, though a little old(some of my rice was hard, i guess from sitting in the buffet tray forever). if you’re absolutely dying for indian food and in the area, consider going here, but the conditions that the food are presented in are so delapidated i might even prefer to go to the Pakistan Tea House just because all of the hype it gets probably means that the food is fresher. i’m probably not going to eat in at this place ever again for lunch, but i might get desperate enough and be enough of a hermit one night at home that i’ll break down and order delivery.
