Hands down some of the best chicken curry I have had in a while. The owner is attentive and gives you more than generous potions.

A hole in the wall spot with delicious, fresh food. The veggie samosas are light and full of flavor; saag paneer is delicious not heavy and they don’t skimp on the chutneys. You get a lot of yumminess without spending a lot. My go to place after class.

Home-cooked generous portion no frills at the right price. Cash, credit, delivery, take out, suits, college students, construction workers and teachers all come through for a tasty mouthful. Chicken masala, samosas, jasmine rice and nan served on disposables. What more do you need? PS they did pass inspection this summer.

I am giving this place 3 stars because it doesn’t have a bathroom and also because they heat up their food in a microwave and honestly my food and tea were lukewarm. It is clean and a nice atmosphere. The staff is nice and helpful. The food is good but it is spicy. But I like spicy. My plate was $ 7 and as you can see by the picture it was a lot. And when I asked for spinach she offered me some cabbage too. Which I am not a fan of cabbage but I decided to try it and their cabbage was good. Nice place but not open too late closes at 10 pm.

Ick! Very oily and unhealthy. I will not be returning. I felt sick after because it was so heavy. I have tried ple ty of Southeast Asian cuisine to know that this is one of the worst in Manhattan. Those who liked it don’t know what authentic S.E. Asian food is. If you really need a fix, check out Pakistan Tea House down the street, it’s decent.

Looking for a spot to eat after shopping in Century 21 til closing, a lot of food establishments were already closed. But lo and behold we stumbled upon Bangal Curry, looking at the menu the prices were from $ 7 to $ 9 for a huge plate of food. My mind was quickly made up and soon enough we were ordering our late night meal. My friend got the chicken tikka masala with rice and two sides(spinach and beans) while I got the chicken curry. The portion is humongous and the food was good. It is not the best quality food, but for the price I have no complaints. I liked my friend’s food better, the chicken tikka masala was flavorful and I ended up eating his food more than mine. It is cheap, fast, huge portion of food available late at night. It doesn’t hurt my pocket and goes down smoothly in my mouth. Not the best ambiance and the food is microwaved, but I do have a soft spot for curry.

Went here on a Tuesday night and Wednesday ended up being painful thanks to these people. My dad and I both got really sick after eating the fish and the chicken. My mom ate veg so she seemed to not have a problem. I haven’t gotten sick in years from eating at a restaurant in the US so that’s saying something about this place.

While waiting for my order of «Tandoori chicken curry» to be reheated in the microwave, I pondered a sign placed in the middle of my table. It offered, in Spanish, a special discount on the purchase of a Coke when combined with a burrito or taco. The actual promotional price was blank, unfortunately all beverages here are full price. Some even come from the Pepsi Corporation. Even if was given free, I wondered why this small Bengali restaurant was giving free promotion to Coke. Perhaps it was simply to focus the attention of visiting guests. I don’t think Tandoori chicken curry is an actual thing, whether in West Bengal or Bangladesh, but what they served me was a solid plate of chicken over a heaping plate of basmati rice. With a(Diet) Coke and daal, it came to $ 9, not matter for something that could have easily been finished for lunch the next day. While I wish the steam table had enough volume that food didn’t have to be reheat, the end result was satisfactory enough.

I was a little reluctant to go in, because it looks a little dingy from the outside. I’m glad I went in, though. It was so good! And so reasonably priced! I had chicken, rice, 2 vegetables, and naan for $ 9. I’ll definitely be back.

Another one of my favorite lunch spots when I used to work downtown. For about $ 5, I could get a generous combination of protein and two vege. That includes rice too. The food is delicious and does the job when I craves Indian. Service is quick; usually I can get out under 5 mins.

In my quest during lunch to find a good tikki masala, I stumbled upon this establishment but only to be disappointed in the lack of flavors it had to offer. Now, the price was what attracted me to here but at last, after about half into eating my masala, I couldn’t stomach it anymore. It wasn’t horrible but I really didn’t like it.

My chicken tikka masala was pretty good and the take-out portion was generous. However, once I got to sit down and eat it, I found a dead water bug in my lentils. I was extremely grossed out that I ate a few bites of my meal before discovering that bug. Unfortunately, I was pretty far from the restaurant and had to go back to work so I didn’t have the opportunity to go back/call them about my discovery. I never write restaurant reviews and hate to write something bad about one but be warned that maybe their hygiene isn’t up to par.

Would totally rate this with 4 stars based on my prior experiences(reasonable food, reasonable price) However, my last experience left a bad taste. I usually get my food from the guy and today experienced the customer service from the woman who’s there. I usually get the veggie combo with no rice/bread from the guy and it comes in the regular plastic container for $ 6. The woman today(lunch) gave me a third of the food I usually get in a small container(filled up mostly with sauce than the veggies) for $ 5. She was adamant that I must have previously ordered at the end of the day and they apparently give more then… go figure. I told her I ordered lunch & dinner previously… she totally ignored my answer and had some attitude… My customer service experience left a really bad taste and I’m contemplating not going there anymore… if I do, might order from the guy only…

Not sure what happened to this place. Food use to be good. Prices went up and food or chicken curry taste sour. Same chef, but different taste.

I love getting cheap, fast, good, authentic food. Under $ 10, I get a chicken entrée, rice, TWO sides and nan… yes, I am happy and in fidi? Yes, happier. To add, I get my nails done right next door. So basically my nails are looking great and my stomach is feeling excited. And if I wanted to maybe stop at the enormous Post Office right across the street, why nott?

A fast food restaurant of spicy curry. Came here the other day for lunch. I have always considered myself a curry/Indian food lover, so I ordered chicken curry with some side veggies. Nothing fancy, the food was put in a paper plate… and I had my first bite, omg, this was the hottest curry I have ever had in my life(so far). In order not to waste my $ 5, I slowly consumed this plate of über-hot food(even the veggies were spicy). At the end I still could not finish and the spice almost made me cry tears. The place was pretty small and the tables were sticky and had a fly flying over my table.

Bangal Curry is a small Indian restaurant that has dine-in or takeout. The place is pretty small with some tables, and a fridge for sodas. In the front there is a counter with steam table, where you tell the worker what you want. On the top counter behind the glass, there are trays of samosas, and in the bottom is the hot plate, where you can get various vegetables, protein and rice. There is also a display of items that they serve. You can see pieces of fish steaks and whole fish. The food can look unappetizing because everything is cooked down and at times looks barfy, but give it a try because what doesn’t look good can actually be very tasty. I had the chicken tandoori with mixed vegetables, rice and spinach. The food was spicy, with a good enough kick to make your nose run, but it lacked seasoning. I found the food spicy hot but bland in the salt and spices department. The rice was also long grain, but it wasn’t basmati rice. The potato in the mix vegetables wasn’t cooked through enough, so it was still slightly hard. The carrots were, though, cooked very well and had natural sweetness to it. Workers are friendly and patient. There is also a tray of chutney in tiny containers that are $.50 each. The food is a very good portion size, and I ended up only eating half and saving the rest. I had the leftover and a day or two later, the flavor is much better. There is nothing fancy about this place, and if you want a quick lunch you can stop by and get it to go.

In the world of cheap eats, Bangal Curry is pretty decent. Bangal Curry is a hole-in-the-wall on Church Street just north of Park Place and, from the outside, you wouldn’t think too much of it. The crude sign in the front has several specials, and the décor inside just screams downscale kitchen. I went for their chicken curry and 2 vegetable special and, while the rice was OK and the spinach cooked a bit too much, the chicken was phenominal and the chick peas had some really nice flavor. You can pick from a selection of other veggies, so know that you’re not limited to the spinach and chick peas. I really must point out the chicken. It was juicy, packed with flavor and just perfect. Even the chunk of what appears to be cinnamon bark – not edible obviously – didn’t put me off the dish. This is a true cheap eats place with several pounds of food coming in at six dollars. I did cut points for the cinnamon bark and the hit-or-miss flavors within the dish but, all things considered, it’s a place worth trying again.

This place is bangin’! It is definitely the best Indian joint in the area, hands down. For the value($ 6), they can do no wrong. Chicken, rice, potatoes, lentils… piled on and piled high. Last time I went was this past Saturday afternoon, which I would assume would have been a slow day; however the food was still piping hot and fresh(they didn’t need to nuke it up for me, big surprise actually). Also, their food has a spicy bite to it, unlike a few of the other Indian joints in the area. For quick friendly service, good value, and tasty food… 5 stars… boom.
