The Smoke shack burger is everything. Expect a 10 minute wait during rush hour if you’re trying to catch a train. They give you a buzzer, and the line moves quick. Worth the wait ! Best food in the GCS food court.

this location of the shake-shake had better service than the one I went before. The taste-wise surprise all the location are the same. I really love the burgers.

Four stars for the burger. Two stars for my black and white shake. The shake tasted like a fatty flavor less sweet nothing. None of the subtly a black and white shake requires.

Shake Shack is known for being a fresh approach to fast food. Not in Grand Central Station. The staff keep their backs to you and give the impression that the customer is a necessary evil that they would like to avoid. Why not provide service? It is just as easy to smile as it is to give change in nickels instead of quarters(so they have less to count later). I have been to 4 of Mr Meyer’s location. They get worse the further away you get from Madison Square Park.

I’ve had Shake Shack in Vegas but really wanted to eat at a NY location just to see if there was a difference. Came 15 min before closing. There was a small line & several people waiting, but the wait for our food didn’t seem to take too long. Ordered the smoked single and shared cheese fries. The burger was just as good as it was in Vegas. The cheese sauce reminded me of nacho cheese but I guess better quality. It’s hard to not compare this spot to in-n-out. I def get the same satisfaction, if not more satisfying, from an in-n-out cheeseburger and fries, for wayyyyy less. Lol. And animal fries. Oh lawd. But I give shake shack 4 stars only if I don’t compare it to in-n-out. Haha

I visited the 86th street location with 20 members of my team, after a community service project. We were exhausted and needed food and beverages immediately. Will, who appeared to be the manager on duty, was quick to get us to one line. And since it was all on one charge, it made it simple and efficient. Additionally, he had his team bring out our food to the table. What was amazing was how organized the order was. The food was all placed in order in which they were placed and was easy to figure out. We really enjoyed our time there but most importantly was Will and his leadership! Thanks so much!

Coming from Canada, we have good burger places but we definitely don’t have places like Shake Shack or the west coast competitor, In N’Out. I was dying to try out this place and was so excited to see the store in the Grand Central Terminal. The location in the Grand Central Terminal station is small and extremely open. I came pretty late at around 9PM, but it was still packed! I thought people would be sit to eat, but turns out that not that many did that so there was no struggle to find seating. Ordering our food was quick but we did have to wait approximately 15 minutes. I ordered the Shroom Burger and the Cheese Fries. Holy, this Shroom Burger was so delicious. The mushroom and cheese are placed together and deep fried but this was perfect. I liked how there was more cheese than mushroom, and as soon as I took my first bite the cheese basically exploded. SOGOOD! The cheese fries? Oh it is a must! I highly recommend everyone to order it. The fries had a slight crispiness but was very soft and moist inside. The best part was the cheese sauce, which came in a separate container and you have to pour it on yourself. It wasn’t cheese sauce like the cheese wiz you get in a jar, but it was REAL cheese sauce. Make sure you eat the cheese fries pretty quickly since the cheese dries up.

I for one love shake shack! I never been to the one in grand central before today. The signs were confusing of where the line started. The line was long at first but it took 10 minutes or less to make my order. I ordered the cheeseburger, fries, and a vanilla milkshake. It’s a bit pricey but their burgers are free of antibiotics and hormones. The potato buns are from non-GMO potatoes. It’s not as greasy and fattening as other burgers. After I put in my order it took about 5 minutes to pick up my order which is a plus because it was crowded but they were working fast. There is a space to sit down and eat but it’s always packed! They also deliver! They are also collecting donations for«No Kid Hungry» right now which is great and it’s a 2 dollar donation and you get a free milkshake on your next purchase! I would recommend anyone to try shake shack it’s great!

Eh, I guess I don’t get the appeal of Shake Shack. Granted, the line was long and I was starving, but the portabella burger was incredibly bland and had a very odd texture to it. The lemonade was passable, and the fries were super soggy. However, despite the sizable line, the staff took our order and got it out quickly.

Tried shake shack breakfast for the first time. It tasted good but SALTY. We had both sausage/egg and just egg and they were both SALTY. Also staff seemed overwhelmed for some reason. Assumed kitchen weren’t ready because orders came out skipping several numbers.

My verdict: Shake Shack over In-n-Out. This is coming from a SoCal native! The fries at Shake Shack are hands down better than In-n-Out’s. Crinkle cut fries are just better. Period. I can’t speak to the other locations, but I really loved that this one is located inside Grand Central Terminal, even though it was busy, because you can cross off two things in one visit!

Update 03÷30÷16 I got to the terminal early and decided to get breakfast here. There was one person waiting for his food and no one online(rare occasions) which was why I said why not? It’s going to be quick. The cashier took my order and handed me the buzzer. About a minute later, a man gets online and orders a drink and a meal. Soon after he gets his food, but I’m still waiting for mine and there is no acknowledgement by the cashier at all. By this time I have waited for 5 minutes and no one else aside me is waiting and the cashier is just standing at his station. And as I peer into the kitchen no one is doing anything. So at the ten minute mark, I ask the cashier what’s going on and he bristles a response. I have been waiting for ten minutes with no acknowledgement and no update on my food. So the cashier tells the staff to expedite the order. I receive a half apology about them not seeing the ticket… He hands me the food with no eye contact. I ordered an egg, cheese and sausage sandwich, which I was sorely disappointed with. The sausage was overly salty. It tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time and just reheated. The cheese was not melted. The egg had no taste. Just a terrible experience and poor customer service. I came down to pick up lunch for my coworker and myself and i knew it was a big mistake the minute I saw the line. The line wrapped around the terminal and moved slowly. It took about 20 minutes for me to place my order and another 20 to pick up my food. The woman who gave me my order had it all WRONG. The items in my bag contained cheese crinkle fries and a cheeseburger, which isn’t what I ordered. I told her it was wrong but she insisted that it was right. My order was a shake burger and one with bacon. She said the regular shake burger was missing and it took a minute for my burger to come out, however I was missing a shake burger with bacon. I returned the cheeseburger to her and two seconds later she returned it to me. Then she suddenly realized that that wasn’t what I had ordered. Taste is good. Customer service I below par.

Strawberry shake was on point! Fries were alright and they tasted a bit dry to me, but the cheese definitely made them taste so much better! Did not try the burgers, but I don’t think anything can beat California’s in n out. :p

This location is pretty fast though seating can be a challenge(of course, isn’t that the case with every Shake Shack?). When we order at the office, this is the location we use — they deliver with Postmates — and our food always arrives hot and within the hour. A great addition to Grand Central!

CHI – CAN — SAMICH!!! The fried chicken sandwich is TOTALLYAWESOME and super wallet friendly at $ 6.29! In my opinion it’s way better than Delaney Fried Chicken sandwich over in Urbanspace Vanderbuilt food court, they charge $ 8+ for their chicken sandwich and it’s just not all that… The Shake Shack chicken sandwich is tasty and crispy with a generously sized piece of breast topped with pickles, lettuce, and mayo on a nice soft bun. For $ 6.29 you can’t go wrong. it’s sooo goood! ;-) BIG fan of the Shack-Cago dog! Of you love chicago style hotdogs, it will make your day. sport peppers and all ;-)

Let’s break down my Double ShackBurger by the layers: Bun — I’m a fan of potato rolls. It was slightly toasted on the outside, and soft and sweet on the inside. The only downside was that it was oozing with grease. American Cheese — Melted to perfection. Patty — A for freshness. Maybe I’ll just go for one patty next time because I couldn’t really taste the sauce. Lettuce, Tomato — Fresh, and nicely cut. ShackSauce — They went way light on the sauce(or maybe I went heavy on the patty). Good thing I had ketchup to back me up.

As we walked around Manhattan we made our way to Grand Central Station. We were quickly overwhelmed by the number of restaurants/food options available in the food concourse of GCS. We had heard about Shake Shack and soon noticed it was very popular with a long line and crowds around it. Though we did not feel like waiting for a meal we were drawn to Shake Shack and went to the back of the long line. Fortunately, the line moves very quick and soon we had ordered and had our little buzzer that would let us know when our order was ready. We looked around and found a small table free for us to sit(the seating in GCS is first come, first serve and the place is packed). I then went and grabbed out food when the buzzer went off. If I were to say the burgers were delicious I would be less than truthful, they were freaking awesome! I had the Smoke Shack and my wife had the Shack burger. We both had milkshakes and we shared a side of absolutely delicious fries. If that wasn’t enough, the staff was so friendly and full of smiles. They even handed out free samples of some of their items as you waited in line. Oh My Goodness! That place was so good. We plan on going back at least once before our vacation is over. It was well worth it.

I originally had gone to the Shake Shack for the first time, when they first opened, on 23rd street. Whoa, that line was unbelievable. So one evening, while my stomach was kissing my spine, I decided to wander downstairs in Grand Central. I’m usually rushing through like every other crazy commuter, but this evening, I’d just come out of yoga and was famished. I went below and viola!, there they were. I had no idea they existed down there. I grabbed a Shack Burger and fries — ya can’t have a burger w/o fries! LOL The wait wasn’t long, so that’s a plus, but I can’t imagine during afternoon lunchtime.

The menu is busier than In — N — Out but the burgers are very much like Wendy’s. The shakes are delicious but I would personally choose the Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien for a fast food grease trap.

You must know what Shake Shack is about by now. This Grand Central Shake Shack is not much different from other Shake Shacks. Long lines, very limited seating space. However, the lines aren’t as long and the rush times aren’t as predictable. The food is typical Shake Shack; very good. However, I’ve noticed that the employees who take your order seem to be very unhappy about both their presence there and yours. Once you get past that part, you’re golden. Better to have a Shake Shack location here than to not, but seeing this location made me realize that Shake Shack has become a «McDonalds+» in terms of vibe and staff attitude.

I am giving them 2 stars because in all fairness I did not get to try the food, so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt there. I came on a Thursday morning, it was not busy, no line, 11am or just after. I came up to the register where there were 2 ladies who did not look up at me at all. They looked mildly busy so I just waited patiently. I saw that someone left a credit card on the counter and so I tried to get their attention. One woman said«oh I know who’s that is» and took it from me. She seemed like she was trying to figure something out with receipts so I still waited patiently after that despite the fact she did not look me in the eye or say thank you or smile. By this time a few men got on the line behind me, since there were 2 registers the guy behind me slid up to the one next to me and the woman at that register proceeded to ask him if she could help him. I said, «I’m sorry I actually have not ordered yet». She just looked at me like she was not going to help me so I said, «ah ok, I will wait» the other woman has still not bothered to look up yet. Pretty unbelievable. I waited until after he finished his order, which was a large ordere in which he specified no mayo on a certain number of the sandwiches and then the woman at the register in front of me says«why no mayo?» With a bit of an attitude. The man said«I think allergies?» And she says«its f*cking mayo, DRAMATIC» made a stank face along with the comment, and she still did not look at me to say hi or ask me to wait or anything. I wasted 10 min just standing there with these rude ladies. I will emphasize, it was not busy! There were 2 people who already ordered waiting for their food and when I got to the registers it was just me, then the 2 guys after me. I sincerely tried to be patient and give them a chance that morning but the no eye contact thing was a little much on top of the one rude comment. I will never go back.

This chain location was better than the one we went to by the Theatre District. There was literally no line to order but quite a wait for pick up(at least you get a buzzer). The lemonade special at the time was mango-flavored. There are mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise packets available by the pick up station, along with utensils and napkins. The burger I ordered was huge and juicy; I was very satisfied with the result. However, I asked for extra pickles but when I checked my burger, there was only one included. The cheese fries were a tad soggier than expected and not that well seasoned. As for seating, good luck finding them at Grand Central. The Shake Shack seating area was filled up so we ventured off and found seats elsewhere. The meal conveniently came in a cute box which was easy to carry around.

I’ve been to Shake Shack a few times but this was my first time trying it in NYC. It was also my first time trying their breakfast menu, and I was excited to see of it would live up to the standards of the regular menu. It definitely didn’t disappoint! I ordered the sausage egg and cheese, and loved it. They use the same bun as their burgers and it was almost even better with the addition of the egg. I also got a side of cheese fries which was a little heavy that early in the morning, but it’s almost impossible to come here without getting any. Hopefully as they expand breakfast to other locations they’ll also expand the menu, as it would be great to have some sort of breakfast potato/hash brown option as well. But definitely suggest trying out the breakfast sandwiches if you’re a Shake Shack fan.

I remember being skeptical of a Shake Shack opening in the Grand Central dining floor — my negativity couldn’t have been more wrong. This location is conveniently located, quick, and now has the full menu and more! The line here during the lunch and dinner rush hour can look intimidating, but it goes by pretty quickly. If you’re really looking for a treat, get there before 10:30AM to get yourself a breakfast sandwich and some Stumptown brewed coffee. The one downfall of this location: very limited seating.

I ordered crinkle fries and a shake burger. The fires were delicious! The burger was also great! I guess the bread was baked with garlic oil that made the bread more tasty. The meat inside was well cooked, not too raw, not over cooked as well. The veggies inside were quit fresh and the cheese was melty. I would like to return and taste other kinds of burger there! I went to this place around 11am. Maybe because it was early so I didn’t have to wait to order. there’s no way I’d wait in a long line for it. Luckily when I arrived there were only a few people.

You can’t go to New York and not go to Shake Shack, which is why this was my first stop upon settling in to the city. It’s located in the dining concourse on the first floor of the Grand Central Terminal. This is a busy transportation hub, so expect a constant flow of people. Regardless of how many people there are, the turnaround time is quick. Efficiency is top-notch here! I got an order of their Shroom Burger($ 6.99) and Crinkle Cut Fries($ 2.99). They use muenster and cheddar cheese combo as the filling, which is what really makes the burger. I thought I would be disappointed without a beef patty, but I really enjoyed it. Shake Shack is seriously the In-N-Out of the east coast. Expect to pay triple for the same amount of food here. It does have more of a gourmet feel, but portions are small for the price. Flavor is there though. FYI — There are only bottled waters available for $ 2.40. If I had heard the guy correctly I would have opted for a soda instead. Good spot for those who want a quick bite!

Shake Shack has been consistent in their food at every location that I’ve been to so this is a strict review on their service. I had quite a large order, perhaps 10 burgers and 6 fries. Waited in line and left the register at approximately 12:27pm, so it was lunch time and extremely busy. I waited. and waited. I was with another coworker, and began questioning why people who came after us were leaving first. He said they probably had a smaller order, as this is a reasonable excuse I believed him. After another 10 minutes, I went to go ask the employees where my order was and my coworker had added that we waited almost 45 minutes at this point. The employee was extremely shocked, apologized and immediately sent people to work on the order. A couple moments later, the manager tells us that we’re going to be refunded because they have a policy where if the wait is over 10 minutes, you get a refund. This is the first time I’ve heard of this policy. Nevertheless, within 10 minutes of speaking to the employee about my missing order– I was refunded and on my way back to work. Extremely polite and professional staff. This will be my go-to location for Shake Shack.

This Shake Shack at Grand Central had one of the shortest lines at a peak time ever. So if you don’t want to wait, come here. We came for dinner on a weekday and there was only one group ahead of us to order. And most of the time, 100 minutes or so, we spent waiting for the food. We weren’t starving but wanted something to eat before a show. So my friend and I split a shack burger and cheese fries. And I got the grandma’s apple pie shake. Mmm, the shake tasted like liquid apple pie. It’s a seasonal flavor so they probably don’t have it all the time but it’s so good. The burger was fresh and tasty. And for the cheese fries, the guy who took our order said we could get the cheese on the side. So a little tip for you all in case you, like us, don’t want soggy fries when the cheese is drizzled on top. So good. I’m still Team I&O but Shake Shack is a must when visiting NYC.

Shake Shack is definitely on my «must do» list when visiting New York City. I love the location in Grand Central Station because the lines are typically a little bit shorter than the other locations. They also have what seems to be more seating available AND there are two lines, one for cash and one for credit card. If you get in the credit card line it’s usually much quicker. The Shack burger and ‘Shroom burger are my favorites. The Shack burger is like an old-fashioned cheeseburger with their signature shack sauce(whatever that is, it’s fabulous) and this ‘Shroom burger is a deep fried portobello mushroom stuffed with cheese on a bun… So yummy! I want to go to there!

So I finally got to try the famous ShackBurger with a chocolate malt shake. The burger was very good and certainly satisfied my hunger after a long day of work and traveling. However, if I had to compare it to In-n-Out, then the latter wins hands down. You just can’t beat animal style. The best part of the ShackBurger is the potato roll bun. So soft and chewy. Mmmmm. But that chocolate malt shake though. Oh em gee. That could have been a meal itself, and it surely didn’t disappoint. The location was a pleasant surprise. Meaning that the long lines I’ve read and heard about(and dreading) were none existent. There was one person ahead of me in line to order, but I did see a whole lot of people waiting to pick up. Again, pleasantly surprised that I didn’t have a long wait for my order to be ready either.

This is a good location if you are getting your Shake Shack fix solo. This is also one of the very few Shake Shacks that serve breakfast and there’s an Irving Farm right in front of it. It’s easy to order here. Not much of a line compared to other locations. The people at the register even dare to smile, sometimes it’s not all sarcasm lol Shack Burger with bacon and pickles? Yes, thank you. Don’t you dare to order a burger without fries in ANY Shake Shack. You should be ashamed of yourself if you do. That’s a Shack sin. Get your order and sit on one of the stools. I really like people watching here. Everyone seems to be going somewhere and it’s kind of amusing. I honestly think that New Yorkers forget about this Shake Shack or simply avoid it because of the mesmerized tourists — but they are actually not so bad(for tourists) here. They even order fast — for tourists. This is not the infuriating sh*t show that you find in the Shake Shack by Port Authority, where they get on line(in a group of at least 5) to only place one single order — in which they all order the same thing. smh. Lucky for you and I, this location is awful for groups.

For breakfast got an egg n’ cheese sandwich with their 50⁄50. The bkfast sandwich was just okay, nothing too great. I felt like an egg Mcmuffin would probably taste the same. The 50⁄50 was actually really good. It was tea with the kick of a lemonade which was perfect for waking me up since I like minimal caffeine. I didn’t try their shakes but they seemed to be a popular item with the customers. I would try them next time. As per the location, it’s busy but they get food out fast. However, they messed up my order which was disappointing. I had to wait in line again to notify them since they are so busy and it’s hard to get their attention. Also, the customers in the line would have given me a nasty stare down thinking I was cutting so I opted to get in line again. But the girl at the counter was really nice about it and fixed it right away. Not a bad place to stop by in grand central if you are hungry and have some time to kill. They have seating available but it’s limited so get to it fast.

I always have to go to shake shack when I visit NYC. I’m surprised at how many locations there are now, when I lived in NYC in 2007, it was just one location at Madison square park and I waited for over an hour. Now you can pretty much find a shake shack anywhere in NYC. We went to this location since it was closest to our hotel, and also at Grand Central, which was a great location to take photos since my BF just got into photography. I always order the shake stack, because I love how the muenster cheese melts into the portobello mushroom on top of the cheeseburger-that first bite is always the best! Just writing this is making me crave a shake stack so badly, I may need to pay a visit to the Vegas location sometime soon, since that’s the closest location to me. I always get an order of cheese fries, and I’m so happy they brought the crinkle cut fries back. When I went to the Shake Shack on the Upper East Side in September, they had these overcooked freshly cut fries that I did not like. The crinkle cut fries are much better! Since my BF and I were sharing, I felt like it was okay to order a coffee shake, which is delicious! Being from LA, I have to make a comparison to In and Out. Overall, I prefer In and Out, especially in terms of value. In and Out is much more affordable than Shake Shack. Every time I go to Shake Shack, I’m kinda shocked at the total cost and the small size of the food. Although I like In and Out more overall, I still have to visit Shake Shack every time I’m in NYC, because of the shake stack, the crinkle cut cheese fries and the coffee shake, which they don’t have at In and Out.

Essen top — Preise flop!

This Shake Shack is located in Grand Central Station’s Dining Concourse, the lower level. When I passed by before during weekday lunchtime, it was pretty packed, but on a Saturday evening, there was no line to order. Woohoo! Ordered the ‘Shroom burger, their vegetarian option that has a deep-fried portabello mushroom instead of a beef patty. Also got the crinkle cut fries and a mango lemonade. Ordering the food was quick, but getting the food took a while — maybe ten minutes. There were a bunch of people waiting off to the side for their food too. Shake Shack gives you those electronic pager things that light up and vibrate when your food is ready. The food comes in cardboard boxes. There is an adjacent seating area, with bar seating and a bunch of tables, and it’s open(no wall), so you can people watch the rest of the dining concourse. I wasn’t really impressed with the ‘Shroom burger. It was good — I love mushrooms and anything fried is always tasty. But the texture of the mushroom made it a little hard to eat. It was hard to cleanly bite into it. I love their crinkle cut fries though and the mango lemonade was good — a little too sweet, but very refreshing. I’ll still eat at Shake Shack, but I’ll probably just get the Shack burger next time.
