The sandwiches are good but heavy on the bread and light on the meat.

I’m so sad that it took so long for me to find this shop. My sandwich was so good was so tasty! Superb ingredients married together into something amazing! Can’t wait to come back.

Decent #1.Fresh Mozzarella $ 8.16(stopped by on Meatball Wednesday around lunch and the small space was busy but not crazy) foolishly ordered hot. Cashier didn’t wanna give out loyalty card, which says cash only(paid with a card and got a Square receipt, but maybe you’re not supposed to accrue loyalty if you pay with plastic).

San Panino is a stable of the West Village. Many options to choose from for your custom Panini from the bread, to the toppings. The soup /sandwich combo is the best deal for $ 10 — reccomend the pasta Fagioli soup on a cold day. The service is quick which comes in handy due to the size of the location. Worth trying new combinations every time you go in !

Fantastic sandwiches! Fresh fresh fresh. A definite bang for your buck. I put 4 instead of 5 as the place is really small. Take your sandwich to go and eat it by the Hudson River.

Sandiwches… what is it about a bunch of fillings squished between two slices of fresh wholewheat bread? Heaven. The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars is Faccios pork store which tops my sandwich list. Having said that order any sandwich on this menu and you won’t be disappointed. Minimal seating inside so grab a toastie, sit on the random bench outside, get your people watching on and enjoy.

Tried this place today, great little sandwich place on Hudson. Sandwiches are fresh! Not too crowded at 12.30 and efficient fast friendly service. Too small to dine in, but cross a block and your overlooking the Hudson with a rather marvelous Italian sandwich & a beautiful view… don’t mind if i do!

Great business model, shame and ridicule customers who don’t have a «smiley face» experience. After my purchase of a stale and bland meatball sandwich — their special du jour — their Square app sent me an e-mail receipt and asked me to rate my experience. I could choose between either a frown face or a smiley face. I chose the frown face on the basis of poor quality and gave the following reason: «I saw great reviews on Unilocal for the sandwiches and paninis and was craving a Meatball hoagie and what a perfect coincidence, it was their Wednesday special! Unfortunately, the bread was stale and there were maybe about 2 or 3 meatballs. Overall, a pretty boring sandwich, especially for the price. Would have preferred Subway’s meatball footlong for half the cost :(« I shortly got a response via their Square app: «A hoagie? Says it all. I recommend you continue eating at Subway.» SERIOUSLY? Seriously. I paid for an overpriced, less than mediocre sandwich, and when the business asked me to rate my experience, the business makes fun of me? Why? Is Sanpanino trying to be elitist by assuming that because I said«hoagie», I am obviously not a New Yorker and nor do I have tastebuds? Just make fun of me and yell, «YOUCAN’T SITWITHUS!» while you’re at it… oh wait, you did.

Nice small place near the Christopher Street PATH station for great sandwiches. Meats and cheeses and very fresh and excellent bread. This will become a lunch spot favorite and an easy place to pick up items on the way home.

Killer little Iti panino shop. Grab them hot or cold and with a little fresh lemonade on the side — happy days. Definitely a lunch staple!

Sandwiches are decent. Fresh ingredients and good stuff. But their portions are ridiculously small for 8 – 10 $. I mean, it is impossible to be full with just 1. I generally have to take 2, and then add a drink to that, and its a fancy meal on its own. But instead its just a take out sandwich. I really wished they would do something about their portion sizes. I mean making it slightly bigger will not hurt I feel.

Awesome lunch spot! Just ate here and loved the fast-casual but authentic Italian and fresh vibe. I did a «create your own» sandwich with sopressata, genoa salami, fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, roasted red peppers, and a splash of evoo and balsamic on focaccia. Also, they allow toasting/panini pressing of the sandwiches — Divine!

Tasty Italian sandwiches from a quaint café in the West Village. The sandwiches are a bit expensive($ 8-$ 10) and moderately sized, but they are quite tasty. The service is hit or miss. I asked for no tomatoes one time and they gave me tomatoes. I asked for a #2 another time and they gave me a #3. Everyone makes mistakes. Best plan of attack: Grab a sandwich and head across the street to St. Luke and eat in the garden.

Amazing little sandwich place. They have great sliced meat, excellent focaccia bread, and tons of options. We come here most weekends for a lunch stop complete with cookie and lemonade. The guys are super nice! Better to take out and sit outside than in the small space I’d say.

I just moved into the neighborhood and swung into Sanpanino on a whim yesterday. I’m glad I did. It appears to be a hole-in-the-wall but it is authentic Italian sandwiches at their best. It reminded me very, very much of the sandwich stands around Italy. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, the food came quick and was really delicious. I got the sanclassico and look forward to trying their other sandwiches.

Excellent panini assembled to order, so there are many options — including formulating your own combination of cheeses and meats. Food seemed authentically Italian — a nice balance of bread and fillings. Seating is a bit cramped.

3.5 stars… It’s a Hispanic run Italian sandwich shop. It’s a small place, mostly take out but they do have a long bench and some tables to accommodate about 5 people. They have 14 signature sandwiches(15 if you count the meatball only available on Wednesday), all are about $ 10 and a couple soup options. They make the sandwiches to order and you can get them cold or hot(grilled in a pannini press). I got the prosciutto di parma(prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced plum tomatoes, fresh basil, and balsamic) minus the tomatoes. It was a fine sandwich with good flavors, I just think the price is a tad high for what you get, especially considering you can get a better version of this for approximately the same price at Sergimmo Salumeria(on 9th Ave and 36th st). If you’re looking for a solid sandwich in the neighborhood you can’t go wrong with Sanpanino but it’s not worth a special trip for.

It should be no secret to anyone I love me a good sandwich. And I’ve been a loyal consumer of Sanpanino’s #6 Proscuitto di Parma(with fresh mozzarella, sliced plum tomatoes, fresh basil, balsamic, and olive oil) for more than a few years running now — really, since I started working in the area(man, we go way back). And when these ingredients are fresh(which is almost always), there are few other sandwiches that can really compete. It’s simple, yes, and modestly sized even. But it’s the focaccia that catapults this sammy into elite territory. It’s a must, must, must. Don’t be a hero(get it? do you?) and even pretend there’s another option. Thicker than cornbread, yet as light as a feather, one bite will make you wish this shit sandwiched every sandwich. Recently, however, after years of a strict #6 diet, on a whim, I went with their Insalata di Tonno(scoops of tuna surrounded by diced tomatoes, chopped celery, diced red onions, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, balsamic, olive oil, and black pepper on a bed of greens). And the good news is — I’m a big fan. The aroma alone makes the girls in my office envious, followed by a sad, sad retreat back to their sub-par salads. Then, when they aren’t looking, I secretly scarf down the $ 1 Chocolate Chip Cookie I grabbed at the cashier. Be forewarned, schoolchildren flock here during lunchtime. And, honestly, while it’s not Sanpanino’s fault, and while I do not have anything against the little ones(I was a tutor and a summer camp counselor back in the day, if you can believe it), the kids can be a minor deterrent. Sanpanino is tiny and students descend upon this place like the plague. Yes, their sandwiches and salads are fantastic, but if we’re being honest, sometimes I have to gauge my rugrat tolerance when I see a swarm of students surrounding Sanpanino like cops outside a hostage situation. I am so not ready to be a parent anytime soon.
