Super expensive for such a small sandwich. Guys this is not a michelin starred deli. Just a neighborhood deli. Why do I have to pay an arm and a leg for something that is so common.

I discovered Bread because it’s on the way to my office from the Christopher St. PATH station and I had an early-morning craving for something sweet. I got the Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin which was doughy perfection and instantly fell in love. I highly recommend that others give it a try and I’ve gone back a couple of times since because of it. I’ve tried the other muffins and croissants, which were pretty good but nothing defeats that banana choco chip. I haven’t had any sandwiches or drinks. I’ve seen other reviewers mention some negative things about Bread and unfortunately, I’m going to have to agree and say that the reviews that I’ve read so far appear to be true and honest. + The cashier lady definitely has an attitude problem. Luckily I’m usually in and out of there. From my experience she’s not always there, but usually is. + The credit card minimum is difficult to hit for a bakery and they don’t even accept all major cards if you do hit that minimum(just American Express I believe). + Service can sometimes be slow.

I work across the street from this place and go there when I don’t have much time, and have worked up the tolerance for sheer dismissal of myself as a human being. The french woman that works the register(the owner I presume) is ALWAYS rude. So to those that remark she was rude to you that one day, rest assured, its every day. Whenever I talk to coworkers about places they have trouble with, we use her as a metric. «But were they Bread Lady rude? No no, not That rude.» It seems she will never change, being that she’s the owner and seems to still make money despite the dismissive attitude. The food isn’t bad, and is way overpriced, so I could see how she/it still survives.

Haters back Off! This is by far my favorite spot in the neighborhood. I come here almost everyday. Patricio makes the best cappuccino in town, The ladies make me feel at home each I stop by. They know more about my life that some of my friends, lol. Plus their prices are very fair, their cappuccino cost less than 4 $ and it’s soooooo good. They have the best Vegan soups and their pastries are excellent and let’s not forget about their awesome Ginger lemon tea, you can easily get addicted to that one. And what about their excellent playlist!!! The place is a little small but so cosy. This is what a neighborhood place should look like.

Lots of misses on my first visit to Bread. –Only 10 $ credit card minimum — my order was short less than 75 cents — was asked if i wanted to get something else or just charge 10 $ to the card. Great way to forcefully up sell your customers. If you have computers you are able to charge any amount — deal with the fees, its 2016. –coffee was unsatisfactory, reminded me of Dunkin Donuts coffee — very easy on the flavor. –very small interior –unpleasant employee at the register(which I’ve noticed mentioned in previous reviews) — this goes a long way people. Even a fake smirk is better than a monotone & miserable demeanor. Where there are misses, there are pluses: –cozy seating area in the back. –fresh produce, fresh product — good presentation –they offer delivery –you are able to order online via seamless –variety of options in their menu — including delectable pastries May return, may not. May recommend, may not. Definitely not high on the list.

Very sweet spot. It seems a little spendy until you taste the quality and see the portion size. The $ 12 ½ sandwich and soup comes with a side salad and bread. The soup is a full pint. It’s fair to say it’s enough for two people.

I decided to try Bread To Go this morning for a quick coffee before work. The cashier was HORRIBLE — she had one of the worst attitudes I’ve ever dealt with. I saw their selection of pastries and asked if their vegan pumpkin bread had nuts in it(I have an allergy). She replied that she didn’t know and shrugged me off. When I asked her if she knew any particular nuts in it(I’m only allergic to come of them), she just said«I don’t know — a lot of them.» Not the best way to start my morning. She didn’t have to be jumping all around with a huge smile on her face, but she should at least be pleasant. I won’t be coming back.

the food is hit or miss. i work down the street and always order the same thing. some days it’s great, other days it’s not. most of the time it’s great so i will give 3 stars for food alone. one of the female cashiers is extremely rude as noted by other Unilocalers. i really dislike dealing with her and she is the reason why i sometimes pass on this place.

At first glance, this place appears totally cute and cozy, and no doubt their baked goods look divine. However after ordering the grilled cheese and tomato soup any cozy thoughts I had of this place disappeared. Terrible, and I mean the worst, grilled cheese I have ever had. Who uses the heels of a bread loaf for grilled cheese? Totally awful, barely any cheese, and incredibly tiny for $ 6+. The tomato soup was mediocre and has strange clumpy cheese in it. Stick to the muffins and you should be fine.

The cashier was rude and treated me like I was just making her day harder just because I asked if the soup had milk or cream in it. People have bad days, I get it, shrug it off. But then the grilled cheese was terrible. They use the cut off bread ends to make them and you get a small squished tasteless hockey puck sized sandwich with some rubbery cheese in the middle that basically just tastes like soggy bread crust. I hear the breakfast is good but I will not be going back.

I stumbled upon this place one Saturday morning. Boy am I glad I did! Friendly service! The lady at the cash register was courteous and helpful. I got a blueberry muffin, a plain croissant and a banana chocolate muffin all of which were delicious!!! They also have more traditional breakfast options, such as eggs and scrambles. Highly recommended for a quick breakfast stop!

The food here is really good. The soup is amazing, especially the tomato(there are chunks of gooey cheese throughout) and the bread is amazing. The people are snobs. The place is small so if you are waiting to order takeout it can get a bit claustrophobic. One time I ordered soup and they forgot to put bread in my bag. The restaurant is CALLED bread. How do you forget the bread? If this place weren’t so close to my office I’d probably never go back, but it is convenient on a cold day when all you want is delicious tomato soup.

Was doing some shopping in the area and wanted to grab a quick lunch. Saw this small little place, thought the menu looked interesting and decided to give it a go. Ordered the sardine sandwich and sat down. The sandwich came with a very uninspiring salad… basically just lettuce with a little bit of oil. Actually, too much oil. The sandwich was ok, but seemed like something anyone could make at home and a $ 12 sandwich just shouldn’t have that feel, hence the two star rating. Too bad, I really wanted to like this place given it’s a mom and pop spot in the WV since these spots seem to be disappearing. But the price tag and the generic nature of the sandwich has me passing next time…

Ambiance zen et épurée, good food, personnel adorable… A very good place to go…

Decided to try this place after getting tired of eating from Hale & Hearty all the time. For $ 12 — got half a sandwich(avocado and tomato), cup of soup(butternut squash), a tiny salad, and 2 more pieces of bread for good measure. Everything was piping hot, except the salad thankfully. Solid ingredients and good amount of food for the price. Service can take a little bit(not really fast food), but friendly enough.

This is a great place to grab lunch. It quickly became my go to while working in the west village. The service is fast and the food is really good. It’s a small restaurant that basically serves italian dishes mixed with some other basic american staples. The chicken sandwich is absolutely delicious. The sauce has a little bite to it and the portion side is very healthy. Its always annoying when you receive a sandwich with 10% meat and 90% bread, this place does nothing of the sort as the size of the chicken is plentiful. There is also a side of roasted potatoes which are also delicious. There’s also the Trofie dish which is spaghetti pasta with truffle sauce and parmesan cheese. While its not nearly as good as the chicken sandwich, it’s definitely an enjoyable dish. Maybe a little too heavy on the truffle however… This is one of the best lunch places in the West Village. The only negative is that the seating areas is extremely small. So if you plan to eat at the restaurant, be prepared to squeeze in. Other than that, i love this place and will continue to come here when I’m in the area.

I’m a fan of their breakfast sandwiches which I find to have quality ingredients and are pretty hearty. Stopped in for lunch the other day and had the shrimp sandwich for $ 11.50 which was served with a side salad. Portion size was on the small size, but not too small… probably the perfect amount of food. What I loved most about this sandwich was that the shrimp were not fried or grilled, which is what you usually get in a shrimp sandwich. I think frying or grilling the shrimp makes a tastier sandwich, but heavier too. This was more like a shrimp salad sandwich and left me feeling satisfied, but not weighed down. The bread it was served on was amazing. I also liked the lemon water they serve when you dine in and thought the service was great.

How am I the first person to review this place?! It’s so amazing here! I swear there’s some magical drug in their bread that makes me crave it. Their paninis are so awesome… I seriously have an issue from spoiling myself with this delectable meal that I consider a before work and after work snack. I usually get their smoked salmon panini or their goat cheese with roasted pepper. Both so damn good. I’ve been meaning to try their shrimp salad and meatballs since my coworkers are so addicted to these items but I cant seem to order anything else besides my usual. Plus coffee. The workers here are the best, I’ll usually open my bag a few minutes later to find a cheesecake treat that I didn’t order but that shows you how awesome they are.
