I don’t know what’s wrong with the employees at this location, but based on my experience I will not shop here as a matter of principle. Unhelpful and arrogant, all around.

I’m giving a high rating mainly based off of their telephone/​email customer service, and of the quality of the products I’ve purchased so far.
I visited the store and saw an item I really liked but was way expensive for my taste. Being unfamiliar with the store, I asked whether the item was ever on sale in store or online. I was told no, and that because it’s one of BI’s «staple items» and highly popular– the prices rarely drop. My time was limited so I bought it, because I had been looking for something like this for a long time and knew I’d regret it if I missed out.
WELL. The clerk was either misinformed or misrepresenting the facts because in a few weeks the item WAS for sale online (25% off) and the same item was for sale for way cheaper on the website in a few different colors (I mean 50% cheaper). That’s fine, I choose to buy without researching and really wanted the particular color I choose (part of their new Fall line) so whatever.
I subsequently ordered some things from the website that needed exchanging and found their customer service rep, Lauren, to be extremely accommodating and helpful. I spoke with her on the phone and via email and have found her attention to be of a high grade. Their grand snap fleece is outstanding; versatile, washes well, and very comfortable without being a typical frumpy sweater. T shirts are really soft and they have a lot of cute dresses. Lauren deserves a raise and the store deserves a visit!

Disappointed. First, while shopping the store attendant politely asked to set up a room for me. She was very friendly and nice. Yet on my way to the dressing room, I stopped to look at a sweater hanging outside the dressing room area. In that time, the attendant moved my three items out of the dressing room and put another shopper in with MANY items ahead, which caused a substantial wait. I would have happily gone in had the attendant simply communicated that another person wanted to try things on, but wasn’t even given the option. I tried to let it go — things happen and I didn’t make a big deal about it despite waiting a ridiculously long time for the dressing room. The entire time I was in the store myself and other shoppers were told repeatedly about the sale they were having, I made purchases including the said sale item only to notice on the receipt on my way home that the sale had not been applied to my purchase. I called the store and was told I had to go BACK to the store to have the price adjusted with the original credit card. I understand mistakes happen, but my time and travel costs are valuable to me. It took the joy out of the purchase — my life is stressful enough the way it is why do I want to add an hour to my day to claim money I was overcharged?! POOR POLICY. I received an «Oops, sorry about that.» That doesn’t make one feel like a valued customer. Also, had unresolved issues with a web order after having given them the benefit of the doubt in this situation. Lastly, their items are made elsewhere in the world despite their name, I didn’t see anything I looked at that was made in New York or even the USA. I wanted to enjoy my shopping experience and products, but they fell flat. You can do better Brooklyn Industries.

A good time with hibachi. My previous experiences with hibachi have been a little more on the raunchier side (things being made out of fried rice with cream being squirted out of them). This place tried to keep it classy. This was fine and entertaining to a point but I feel that entertainment which is expected was more of a distraction to the fact that hey, you’re hungry, we made you wait to sit, and your food is still being cooked. In front of you!
After I actually got to eat this five course promised meal it was fulfilling. But waiting for something else might make most people more satisfied. It’s half for the show if you decide to wait for this.

Finally, I fit in their outterwear/​coats/​parkas, size (sm)all!
The cute sales chick who helped me clapped as I twirled round and round. Then I tried on their sweaters (sm) and tore the back. Ugh.
How do gay men stay so slim?! Sssso jealoussss.

Have stopped in here a few times looking for gifts and cloths for myself. Clothing wise, I think this label runs a bit small, but they have some cute stuff for ladies, especially some nice causal jumpers and dresses. What I love here are the tees ($ 20 – 30 for good quality cotton), if you’re looking for something for someone who lives in or is from Brooklyn, look no further! They have a ton of different graphic tees all incorporating an aspect of Brooklyn, usually in a funny or cute way. I even got a onesie here for a friend who just had a baby. The staff is also pretty nice.

I had my eye on a funny T-​shirt that said, «The Gowanus Swim Club» with a logo of a diver’s mask and crossbones. I finally knuckled under and bought it, and not a moment too soon; they no longer had it on display, but had a few downstairs.
They have neat stuff, and decent sales; this is a branch of Brooklyn Industries I pass all the time, so I was eventually going to see something there I had to have.

Stylin’. Put some Brooklyn flare on a Lucky Brand store, dip in a bit more of that East Coast vibe, shake, stir, and fold… out pops Brooklyn Industries.
I found this place by accident — walking through LOMA (lower Manhattan’s new official unofficial name of sorts) and though it looked pretty cool and wouldn’t break the bank.
Well, I ended up dropping a few non-​sale moneybills on what I consider to be pretty much the sweetest jacket ever — a very uniquely styled brown coat with a canvas-​ish feel to it that fits just right. That and jeans and i’m looking pretty damn all right.
And then a period of time later, I came back for a scarf (casual but still works for business) and fingerless gloves for my incessant HBLR, PATH, and 6 Train iPhone tap tap typing.
Decent selection of guy’s clothes for a smallish store, and there is always something new and always something on sale. Nice salespeople that haven’t ever pressured me to buy anything and have been nothing short of helpful.
Hit it up, try something on, walk out with cool stuff and less money.

Clothes are pretty nice here. I particularly like their Brooklyn-​themed T-​shirts. The T-​shirts on sale are $ 19.99 and those that are in-​season are twice the price. Overall, not a bad store but it’s not really a place I would trek all the way from Midtown to buy clothes

The customer service in this store is unbelievable… I mean they do everythign right! They go above and beyond. I love this store and would go back, I have been to other brooklyn industries and have not gotten the same service. The guy who was putting up the window displays i think his name starts with a J or something, was so sweet and made suggestions of things I would not have thought of buying. I always look at the sale first.

I am crazy about Brooklyn Industries. I always get compliments on the street when I’m wearing my Bk Ind jacket or rocking my sturdy, durable Bk Ind bag.
I’ve also gotten clothes from here and when they have sales, they are usually good. The customer service is excellent which is what keeps me coming back time and time again.
By the way, Bk Ind offers a lifetime guarantee on all their bags. If anything happens to your bag, take it to the nearest store and they will send it away to get fixed. I’ve taken advantage of this opportunity and my bag came back good as new.

Love, love, love the bag I bought. Life time guarantee and extremely sturdy. What more can you ask for?

I got a great pair of black cords for $ 35. That’s a freaking miracle. 4 stars.
Obligatory Funny Story:
I’m 6’2″ and Brooklyn Industries jeans only come in one length. I tried a pair of jeans that were a bit too short (I like my jeans to have slightly more of a break in them than would be acceptable for slacks). While paying for my cords, I asked the cashier if they carried pants in ‘long’ sizes for the tall folk. He explained that they make all the pants long and shorter people can just get them hemmed (while also apologizing for what seemed to be an oversight, else my dilemma wouldn’t be an issue). He then demonstrated by pointing to his jeans, which he had hemmed to the ‘correct’ length, which was apparently several inches higher than where his shoe ended. I chuckled to myself, identifying the real problem. He apologized for not having a length I wanted and wished me well. It was great service… and I can’t really fault them for catering to goofy fashions. They know their audience.

this place ain’t really my style — it’s a bit of a cross between a brokedown diesel and your local BK stoop sale. it’s nothing bad, but for those that know me well, i have a kinda cali aesthetic with my flowy sundresses (all the more room to eat!), loose cover-​ups and flip-​flops.
however, i just got friggin’ cute frye boots from
the other day (yay, super sale!) and i couldn’t wait until autumn to wear those puppies out. i figured — what better way to break ‘em in than to an outdoor concert on a night when we weren’t sure if it was gonna rain?
bad move, aims — i barely made it walking from the subway, my feet were literally screaming. cue the decision to buy some impromptu flip-​flops from BK industries … i knew they carried havianas after browsing with the bro a few times.
i ran in, stashed my boots into the corner and basically walked around the store barefoot while i tried on what they had on display. the nice thing is, the sales associates didn’t give a shit about my lack of good manners and proceeded to bring out every pair of havianas in my size that matched my outfit, all while chatting me up about my texan background and the matt & kim concert i was gonna see in a bit.
they didn’t have the gold/​navy blue combo that i wanted, but no worries because i ended-​up buying a cute dark brown pair which was awesome — those replaced my older pair from home. cute and practical … booyah!

I used to stop into Brooklyn Industries all the time for hoodies. It looks like they are slowly stepping away from that and heading into slightly more sophisticated duds. Everything is shiny, silky, and soft. The dresses are unique and made for models. Wear them and go clubbing, go to work, go take pictures in them. BKI is hip. I dare and hold myself back from adding the ster on to hip.
The sizing is a little funky (overly wide or tight in all the wrong places) and I’m saddened that the hoodies are now shoved on to the bottom shelves. I think the street wear should always be at the forefront, but that’s just me. BKI’s got it’s following and although I can’t wear all the clothes well I am and will forever be a fan of their hoodies and purses. The purses ROCK! Functional, stylish and graphic all at the same time.
This West Village store is small but pretty. It’s definitely more on the boutiquey side. The staff has always been helpful and the fitting rooms (although there are only two) are ample in size.
I was browsing the sale racks and I saw an interesting short sleeved blouse. It had a twisty X of drooping fabric in front. The salesguy saw me studying it and he said, «Oh if you like that one then you’ll love this one with longer sleeves. It’s less droopy in front but still has a simple X. It makes boobs look great.» That comment almost made me want to try it on. The girls could always use a little help to look hotter.
If stores could get compliments, I’d send this one a «You’re Cool!»
