After calling me to tell me my order of rotisserie chicken and sautéed kale was going to be 1.5 hr late because they don’t start cooking until 12:00 when it finally arrived it was burnt!!! The 2 stars is for the kale. Thanks a lot!

We hired Ready to Eat to cater an Office Thanksgiving Lunch. Rhonda was great to work with — providing solid advice on portioning for the number of people we had and helping us to balance the types of foods chosen! Augustine delivered the food on-time, warm/hot, and was friendly and super helpful. He helped us to unload the various dishes and set them up! The food was delicious! Of all the compliments given, the turkey, the lentil/brussels sprout salad, mashed potatoes, the stuffing, and the mac and cheese received the most. I would highly recommend Ready to Eat for their food and their catering services!

This is the worst place ever. I had a ordered a meal and when I started to eat I found a bandaid in my food! Will never go back again!

The name of this place could not be more misleading… I am not ready to eat and more likely ready to vomit after the delivery that was just received. Ill keep this short because this place certainly does not deserve my words longer than a few sentences. We open the order from seamless and whats on top? A napkin. No big deal right, its a napkin. Clean your face, make a doodle, simple.single.white.napkin But whats this? why it looks like its already been used. Because the napkin had blood on it. And yes, we do have a picture of this. DISGUSTING

When you come across a place like this you don’t easily forget. Ready to eat brings quality cooking with authentic flavors coming from generations of experience. The roasted chicken is cooked to perfection and is never too dry, the consistency is there. Whatever you do, DONOT shy away from rest of the menu. Every time I come here I try something new and have yet to be disappointed. I have been in the food business for 15 years and can tell when someone takes the time to serve good food with fresh ingredients at a affordable price. My wife goes crazy for their quinoa salad and eggplant caponata! The only thing that is missing is a bigger space! The line gets pretty long sometimes. If you are ever in the west village and are looking for a healthy meal check this place out!

After living in the west village for the better part of thirty years I have fought to preserve the historic integrity of the neighborhood. Over the last decade the west village has become a prime location for shopping and dining, yet despite its wealthy, celeb-heavy demographic one place always stood out to me as a reminder of what was. Ready to eat sits cozy on Hudson between W 10th and Charles. As you walk into RTE the staff immediately makes you feel at home. The menu is filled with crowd pleasers and changes daily, separating itself from the typical«stop and go» lunch spot. The one constant on the menu is the rotisserie chicken which is the BEST I have ever had the pleasure to eat in my life. I hope anyone in the neighborhood looking to get a quick bite or even rest their feet can find the time to stop by and check this west village landmark out.

Verdict: great neighborhood grab-n-go place when you want to eat a decent meal but lack either the time or willingness to cook. Will definitely become one of my neighborhood go-to’s. Suggestions: the branzino Sides: I got the Brussels sprouts which were good but truthfully everything looked great Service: spot on. The two attendants were pleasant and upbeat and gave me some stuff to try since I mentioned I hadn’t been there before and was undecided on what to get. Price: I spent $ 15 for fish a side of Brussels sprouts and a packet of 3 cookies. It’s a bit more than a whole foods salad meal but on par with a hot station meal. I think it is very reasonable for takeout/delivery in NY that includes some sort of quality meat or fish and vegetables.

Delish no two ways about it. Would likely go back if I were in the Village, on a quick lunch break getting something to go near my office. The food is clean, fresh and made well. But the cost is cray. Bought a half roasted chicken for the cost of a whole roasted chicken in my hood on 32nd — same local organic spin. A kale salad for nearly $ 10? Hated that the salad was already dressed so it had to be eaten fairly soon.

Weekday Dinner Take-out I tried twice but not quite Ready To Eat meals for me. My choices, so far, lacks in moisture and salt. Stew or things drenched in a sauce would be the ones to choose. My fried chicken that I was recommended by a nice Irish American guy was just okay sadly. Fried chicken w/one side($ 14) — Even after heating up in an oven for 5 – 10 minutes for 350°F as suggested by the nice guy, the chicken didn’t really recovered. Adding some Kosher salt helped the flavor but I could not help on its dryness and last attempt of microwaving it made worse. — Roasted beets(side) I am pretty sure it was fantastic when it came out of the oven but what I got was that the outer layer had gotten hard and chewy. Adding some water to it when I heated up in my oven or seal tight and put in a microwave helped a bit but never recover the freshness of beets flavors obviously. Lamb Meatballs w/a side — Three regular size balls. The balls were fine nothing very special. I wish to experience like Carley F. did, «the star of the show.» — Mac&Cheese It was super dry. Milk at home helped but it was still not happy. — Roasted yellow squash It was sweet and soft and the texture from the skin was nice. We enjoyed it a lot. I am still not giving up on them yet. They have so much(maybe too much) to choose from. I am sure there is something makes me smile. This is what I will do, get anything looks fresh and avoid dried looking ones.

I live a few blocks from this place and eat here 2 – 3 times a week. The guys that work at Ready to Eat are great. The food is reasonably priced and really tasty. It’s just a solid, trusted establishment. It is especially convenient if you live in the West Village and need something quick on your way home from work. The beef stew rocks. The lamb shanks really rocks. I love the Bronzino as well. The best part is you can mix it up every night.

So I rarely make it to the West Village but when I do I always find some little space with good eats. Ready to Eat is one of them. The unassuming storefront and small space is easy to pass by. alas though, you definitely shouldn’t pass it up. The food is good, fresh and it feels like home-cooking. Most dishes are towards the healthier side, think salads, soups, sandwiches. fresh, fresh, fresh. Mixed salads, herb roasted chickens, quinoa, etc. I’d say it’s similar to an Amish Market/Dig Inn/Whole Foods Deli/Ol’ School Deli/Neighborhood spot with some of the freshest grab and go bites you can find.

Ready to Eat is a perfect lunch spot in the West Village! They have an amazing selection of cold salads, or fresh entrees that can be warmed also! I tried the fennel salad, quinoa salad, amazing wild rice salad with barley, cranberries and pine nuts, and the awesome lamb meatballs. The salads were fantastic but I have to say the lamb was the star of the show, incredible seasonings, and served with the surrounding onions, peppers and jus that they were cooked in. I could have had a dozen of these! I could have also tried their whole array of salads, but I will have to save that for next time! Ready to Eat also showcased beautiful filets of salmon, some simply grilled and some with what looked to be a soy or balsamic glaze. The best part of this spot is that you can come in and try a bit of everything, and leave totally satisfied and feeling fresh, not overstuffed. I also loved that they had fresh Cock’s Comb flower arrangements on the tables, gives homage to my South Carolina Gamecocks and my mom also grows it in her garden. Love this place and highly recommend!

I crave this food often. It’s fresh, reliable and quick because everything is «ready to eat.» I only ever get the sandwiches and soups. But they rock! And the price is so fair for the excellent quality. When I don’t feel like cooking, this place is a godsend.

Everything is amazing… food, service and prices. Greek salad and pearl pasta was stellar. Sandwichs are discounted after 5pm. get’em before they are gone!

I get take out here a lot. Today it seemed like the portion of mac and cheese got smaller– and yes, this place is pricy.

Very fresh food. I went here because I had a Groupon– it’s somewhat expensive. Hot the shrimp salad, which has a great tangy flavor because of the mayo/spice-based sauce. Also the fava bean salad and roasted eggplant; holy cow, what grat burst of flavor: savory and a little smokey, played nicely on the palate. I have the kale salad in the fridge.

My husband(then fiancé) and I were pulling our hair out, almost in tears, as we frantically searched for a caterer we loved, and could afford, for our wedding party. We had tried, tasted and contacted at least a dozen that were disappointing or too costly. I accidentally stumbled past Ready To Eat during a run. I figured I would go in, just to see, and a woman greeted me with an assuring warm smile, said she was sure they could help us, and told me to contact Joseph. I wrote Joseph an email that afternoon, and from his first response, everything went well. Joseph was always prompt to respond to emails, questions and concerns, and very patient with our many indecisive moments. When we met with Joseph, we immediately felt at ease. We walked away from that first meeting and said to each other, «Oh my God! He is wonderful! I think we can do this!» They gave us food to sample, which was delicious and this assured us even further that we had found the caterer for us. Joseph worked with us to create a menu that suited the style of our party and the tastes and needs of our guests. Everyone told us the food was fabulous, the Ready to Eat staff who worked the event were friendly, professional, and had smiles on their faces. I highly recommend Ready to Eat for any party or event you are planning. We are so pleased we chose them to help us make our special day a success!

Carrot cake was good and tasted fresh. Place is small. Everything was made already just need to heat it up microwave. Will try again.
