Came here to just have a regular cup of coffee with a friend. My friend doesn’t eat meat… The point is I had asked for a cup of coffee and she had order a simple salad. The waiter was rude about it, complaining, talking about us as if we weren’t there immediately behind him. I believe he might have been upset about us having a minimal sit down order… We continued as if it didn’t happen, ignoring them. They were rude and rushing us out the restaurant, with the«is that it for tonight» question over and over. I know there are those who sit and hog time and place but this wasn’t the case. After all we had briefly stopped for just a bite, and go. There was no need for the constant rush and pressure with the silly invoice. It’s 10pm… If by now you on account of «poor attitude» haven’t met your daily tip quota, it’s definitively not magically going to happen over a coffee and salad.

Hey; I want to say that this is one hell of a great restaurant! Omg! The West side is lucky to have it! I take all my good friends, and family here, and never any bad experience. They serve anything and everything. Don’t get me wrong; this place is the Wal-Mart of restaurants; with literally hundreds of options and cuisine choices! Keep up the great work guys! Great attitude, friendly people, and very quick delivery!

It’s our neighborhood diner. Nothing fancy but it is clean and the service is fine. Portions are generous and the menu is huge. They are very patient with kids and people like me who like to hang and drink coffee forever. Quick and accurate for delivery

Renaissance is my local go-to diner not because of how it’s perfectly nestled amongst the line-up of bars along 9th Avenue but because of its extensive menu and non-existent closing time. The diner itself is a unique one for the area since there’s a outdoor area open in the summertime and faux-outdoor seating area in the back with a fireplace and window ceiling with a miniature bar area in the back. In the front, it’s more traditional with tables and booths next to an exposed cooking area. Servers are often polite and quick to come with your food. However, if you call to order-in they sometimes seem like they rush you to get off the phone. Sitting down, you’re given plenty of time to look over the menu as there are several pages broken down by meal and cuisine. The choices seem endless but if you’re torn that’s ok — just order the usual burger and disco fries. If you’re trying to be a little more fancy, there are pico de gallo shrimp quesadillas, wild mushroom and truffle ravioli, stuffed clams and shrimp and scallops scampi. Beverages are alcoholic or non-alcoholic, hot or cold and shakes are diet(i.e. über healthy) or non-diet. Interestingly enough there is not too much for desserts — unless you count the fruit dishes they offer. Although the variety is diverse be weary that you may not get exactly what you pay for. One of my favorites is the pico de gallo shrimp quesadillas but it would be great if a few dollars were knocked off. But hey, this is Hell’s Kitchen and the diner isn’t too far from the hotels in Times Square.

When in a pinch and drunk in midtown on thanksgiving Eve and you realize«man, it is way later than I had thought» and not much else is open, Renaissance Diner will suffice. Their disco fries were a-okay. I went with a Spanish Omelette for my late night sobering meal. If you asked me what is involved in a Spanish omelette and how it differs from a Texan or Mexican omelette, I would have not been able to answer you before it arrived to the table. It’s actually worse than I had pre-envisioned: decently cooked omelette eggs flapped over with cheese that I had to pay a dollar extra for(rolls eyes) and legit canned salsa with peppers thrown on top. Was it good? Not really. Though, the side potato hash it was accompanied with were great and cut like thin scalloped potatoes. Unique for a diner. Also, the portion was hearty enough that is had provided me with 3 – 4 extra meals later on in the week. Or I’m just not eating as much lately. Again, huge portions are a plus. My friends that accompanied me for our sobering noms had ordered the pico de gallo shrimp quesadillas and the philly cheese steak sandwich meal with fries. Everything looked pretty decent but other entrees were a bit on the pricey side. If you go for eggs you get more bang for your buck. Though, they have some more unique and tastier sounding options on their menu than most diners. But this place ain’t cheap and nothing jumped out to impress me enough to be a regular.

Fair prices comparatively. We didn’t experience the friendly service another poster mentioned. Average diner food. Personally not a repeat. Many other choices in the area.

Came in for Sunday breakfast… What a disappointment. The turkey bacon isn’t even food, it’s like a a chip or something… So strange. The egg omelette had processed cheese in it, I just stop eating it. The waiter wouldn’t even look at us while taking our order. Extremely rude. Not ever coming back.

I adore this place! Nothing fancy at all!!! But great food and so cheap! It has a lovely out door seating area in The summer right on 9th ave, or cozy inside in the winter… Their menu is HUGE! Has everything you could ever want! My favourite is to go for breakfast… Banana and walnut french toast with a side of bacon… With all the maple syrup you can eat and endless free coffee refills for 2 bucks! Yes it’s not 5 star dining, the staff are not skilled at silver service, but if you go in not expecting the ritz you’ll be happy!!!

I stopped by one Sunday morning after dropping a package off to a friend’s house and feeding their cats [they were away] and got an omelette, toast and coffee. It was very good and the food came quickly. There is a garden in the back but it was a little too hot for that. I would recommend and return.

Look, it’s a diner. No, you won’t get amazing food. What you get is Flintstone-era portion of greasy spoon garbage dumped on to your plate. You will be happy about what you get and assuming your stomach is functionally human, what you take home for the next meal. Like«an average American diner», the staffs are attentive. My many late night caffeine-fueled works were done there while the staff behind the counter would always bring me whatever I needed, whenever I needed. But for the price you pay, the portion, the friendliness, the great people and overall comforting blissfully happy meals that won’t give you plumbing troubles, it’s great. It’s what a diner always feels like and beyond. Really, if you complain about this place, it’s probably the same complaints you have for other diners. I am a fan.

Good servers but the food is hit or miss. The salmon pasta is fabulous as is the grilled cheese. The sandwiches and fried chicken are not so much. But 24 hours! Alcohol makes everything taste better!

I had a horrible experience upon being denied service(after being seated) because I went in with my SERVICEANIMAL who is registered under the official NSAR. I requested to be seated in the outdoor area, which was empty, to not disturb other customers. The waiters were extremely rude and the manager was no where to be found. I presented my dogs ID and showed the papers and one waiter absurdly commented saying«she could buy that off the street.» This act is ILLEGAL and your waiters should not pretend to know the NSAR rights or deny service to people with disabilities. I do not recommend this restaurant at all with its disrespectful service. HORRIBLEANDDISGUSTING.

ASSHOLES. Called to ask if they would take reservations and the person on the other end, a man, not nice ATALL says«No, No, not Saturday’s bye» and hangs up. Great phone etiquette, I would def recommend this place to everyone, NOT! I will find elsewhere for my large party.

Generic /plain diner food. If you’re looking for culinary innovation, you’re not going to find that here. This restaurant looks and feels like an average American diner, and that’s exactly what you’ll get at Renaissance. The servers there are very nice and accommodating and there is plenty of seating available. I came here for a Sunday morning lazy breakfast and we ordered a custom omelette and one of the breakfast combos that comes with an egg, bacon, and pancakes. The portions were surprisingly large, so I would recommend sharing a plate if you come here with someone.

This place had quick service, nice staff and their salmon pasta was delicious. I got the tiramisu and Oreo milk shake to go and it was delicious as well!

Don’t get delivery from here. Dont ask to substitute ingredients. They’ll just remove them and not give you a substitute. They also don’t even deliver the entire meal. This has happened to me twice. Also. Don’t try to call to talk to them either. Waste of time.

One of the better diners in the area, but not great. They serve standard fare at ok prices. Their pastas are pretty OK. They actually don’t overboil their pasta, unlike most diners. They also make their food to order. One nice thing is they always have room. I never have to wait for seating. There’s also a private area in the back with more seating. The staff is pretty attentive and friendly. If you hate this place though, Empanada Mama down the street is a cheaper and tastier alternative.

Of the diners in Hell’s Kitchen, Renaissance is one if the better ones. The menu has a good selection and the staff is attentive. Always enjoying my meals at Renaissance: pulled pork sandwich, chicken chipotle wrap, omelets… I recommend either starting your day with breakfast here or grabbing a quick dinner after a long day. They have great sweet potato fries!

It’s a diner. If that’s what you expect, then you won’t be disappointed. If you are looking for a brunch experience with creative and tantalizing brunch options, this a’int it. They have french toast, omelettes, pancakes, and waffles — the variation is in the toppings included(i.e., fresh strawberries, nutella), or in the accompanying sides(i.e., bacon, eggs). We both ordered the french toast. I thought it was good — typical for diner food. The strawberries were crispy and fresh. I ordered bacon — it was surprisingly, also good(…many places just don’t do bacon that well). Unfortunately, can’t comment on the drinks because we arrived before noon and that is the earliest that many restaurants in NYC are allowed to serve alcohol. Service was not so great. The table was dirty when we sat down and I felt like I had to ask more than once to have it cleaned. The food came out in a good amount of time. However, it took forever for someone to come around again when we wanted our check. When they finally did, they took a long time to come back around to pick up payment. They returned with our swiped card and gave it to the next table and gave us someone else’s paid check. Not sure what the delay or confusion was since the place wasn’t that packed. Anyway, fine for a diner. But be aware of lax service.
