I I love diners… I rarely have a bad experience. But this was by far the WORST meal I’ve had in a long time… That is sad because it is our last vacation/dinner /day in NYC. The water was fair. That’s it. The pork chops were like large chunks of cardboard that were dipped in whatever. It about broke the knife(dry and over cooked). The broccoli was hard and… Undercooked. The steak was horrible and also hard and over well done… when we wanted medium… Or it was microwaved(?) the veggies were hard and cold, the fries were even hard and uncooked… How is this place in business? We sent the pork back and and then just cancelled it out. The manager did NOT appologize… but just barked«you want something else?» Seriously? The bill with only one horrible meal still came to 45.$??? How the hell could s 22 $ steak total 44.95 $ ??? We paid and left but be WARNED! —- The food is HORRIBLE and — – THEYWILLRIPYOUOFFREGARDLESS! This meal ruined our entire last night in the city… As we left I saw a poor kid looking and his tiny burger and making a(eeewww gross) face clearly the Galaxy Diner needs to be closed down!

I love the food, and it isn’t even that pricey! Staff is always friendly, and the setting is cool and beautifully space-themed. Cozy and nice; would come again.

So we used to like going to this dinner that was 24hr, to begin it looks pretty sketch with the décor. However the mimosa pitcher was a reasonable price and listed on the menu so you knew the price. Next time we go however we order just a couple pitcher and we are told it’s the same thing we got as the last time. However it turns out they had taken it off the menu and ended up charging us double what they did the last time. Won’t be going back.

waited 40 minutes for an ice coffee. Called the diner twice and they confirmed both times that the coffee along with the rest of the order was on their way. Turns out once I contacted them a third time the coffee never even left the restaurant after 50 minutes.

Sooo. We’re here right now. The service is awful and the food is worse! Belgian waffles came out hard, the bacon was burnt and my Thanksgiving sandwich was shameful! The mashed potatoes tasted like hospital«potatoes» and came without gravy. Thank God for the pizza fries. they weren’t good or anything but they saved the meal. That’s sad! Our main server had major resting bitch face and the other servers weren’t much better. Never come here. ever!

Great service and early bird pricing. Definitely recommend it for a fast and nice breakfast before you start your day.

Watch your bill. 5 of us got the breakfast special. They listed the correct items at the right prices. But when they totaled our meals 9.45 was added. Then it took 5 minutes and two of their employees to correct it. Hate when places try to rip you off. The saddest part the food was good. 2 eggs, home fries, and toast.(Hard to mess that up though). If I go back I will be sure to check my bill.

Delicious poached eggs florentine. Coffee rocked, too. Service was great, though very crowded and they rush you to eat and get out quickly.

Horrible horrible place to eat. Service and food sucked. Fries were cold, one meal came 15 minutes after everyone else’s food, they didn’t want to refill a soda even after we told the server we were ok with the extra $ 1 charge, food was bland and mediocre. The server was complaining about us asking for a soda refill and made a HUGE deal about it. Seriously don’t ever visit this place!

Don’t get me wrong, I love Galaxy, but things have definitely gone downhill in the past year or two. The used to be open 24 hours/7 days a week, but now they close at 1am on weeknights. I was so disappointed when they changed! I’m usually there late night and it’s usually very easy to get a table. I’ve been there once or twice around brunch-time and it’s packed! Their prices used to be great, but they’re a bit higher now(still not too expensive for the neighborhood though). One odd thing they do — A decaf coffee is 50 cents more expensive than a regular coffee. I suppose I understand it from their perspective(fewer people order decaf, so they probably have to make a fresh pot more often), but I don’t know how many places do that. The staff is very friendly(most of them anyway) and they’re good on coffee/tea refills. I like the cute space theme they have in their decorations. The lighting is good for late night. It’s not too bright like most diners! Also, good to keep in mind — It’s a diner, not a Michelin star restaurant. They serve diner-quality food. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Another great option. Went and had the steak and eggs. Really good food, good service. Nice atmosphere. Recommend you give it a try.

Service and food quality has deteriorated. Price has gone down a bit but servers ignore you, food has been consistently prepared incorrect(medium rare burgers come out very rare or basically well done) lettuce and pickles are cheap and gross, soda is watered down. Our server today was rude and barely payed attention to us at all(and the place was nearly empty!) Probably won’t be returning again at this rate. Shame, i was a loyal regular.

Friends of mine coming in from out of town are real diner people and will be staying in the Hell’s Kitchen area of NYC and were interested in the diner scene in the area. They are closest to the Galaxy diner so before they arrive, i went to try it out. It was a good experience. I was seat immediately and coffee arrived shortly after. I ordered two eggs up, turkey bacon and an English muffin. The food arrived hot. It is reasonably priced and the staff is helpful. The restroom is towards the back of the restaurant and was clean. I am not sure if there is a children’s menu. I would recommend and return.

Always nice people, love their breakfast waffles and such, but what I love most about this place is that it maintains old school sense of good business. I was waiting for my gf from PENN station. She was doing a hard day of travel. I tried to order fries to keep them ready for her to be nice and hot, but she was delayed. I signaled for the waiter to please put them in an oven or something. He smiled, «I’ll make you fresh(fries) the moment she comes in.» She arrived, tired, cold, and to a plate of hot nice french fries. Huge smiles and good words.

came here on christmas day which not suprisingly not many places were open. I had the steak and eggs, steak was cooked perfect and had a nice char on it, not chewy at all, they also had fresh squezzed orange juice. Not sure why all the bad reviewx, place was solid.

Two Words: Tourist Trap Three Words: Cheap, fast, bland This joint is a walking distance to Times Square. I really think this is a tourist trap! It has a very great décor and it is clean. The food is really similar to Denny’s. There is a lack of flavor and thought to the dishes. I ordered a greek salad. It came with huge chunks of feta, thick GMO tomato(the tomato looked GMO), thick GMO onion, olives, and grilled chicken. The dressing tasted like Italian dressing. I asked the dressing to be on the side. My lettuce was dressed in something… I found out it was from all the oil they used to «grill» the chicken. I believe the chicken was pan-fried which is why it was so greasy. My entrée was inedible. The strawberry toast they had was sloppily made. It just tasted like they dipped toast in butter. Service was quick and they will get annoyed at you if you don’t know what they want. Quick, in and out. With so many great places at the same prices, you are better off going elsewhere!

there is a war in NYC – no not the WAR on terror, no not the WAR on drugs, and no not the WAR on giant SODAs(you lost that one Bloomberg. nice.)… no i’m talking about the war on the staple American eatery known as the«diner.» the populus of these restaurants is falling precipitously low. maybe it all the food trucks, fast food joints, quick service restaurants, legit restaurants, etc. OR just rising commercial lease prices for business owners… it’s nice to see Hell’s Kitchen has a number of diners like the Galaxy Diner still alive and kicking. the narrow-ish space is divided up tables and booths. the restaurant stretches deep from its corner locale to deep within the building that houses it. the menu is gigantic here, but keep your orders simple and you’ll walk away happy – belly full and your wallet full o’ mo’ money. i keep my eats here to simple breakfast executions: eggs, meat, french fries, toast, coffee. the cooks here won’t mess it up and it will taste really good. that diner grease yo! otherwise i order burgers: the patty melt platter(comes with fries) is enormous and delicious. it’s cheesey, grease-tacular. order it medium rare as all burgers should be. the juices runneth and overfloweth into a explosion of savoriness: cheese, charred ground hunks of cow, buttered toasted carbs, grilled onions, and fried taters. this is the way death by burger/sandwich is supposed to go in slow motion with our stomach expanded from a massive caloric intake. the iced coffee is strong without being acidic. if you are ordering from that mini phonebook of a menu and expect everything to be of the same quality… you are mistaken. stick with the high-turnover dishes – you know the ones they make a lot of… like the manly breakfast or the bro-tastic burgers… it means you’re always getting fresh-er ingredients than you know that chicken salad, fettucini, steak etc. that gets ordered like 3 times a day as opposed to the burgers and breakfast items which they have to make like 8 million times per day. ‘Sides if you’re going to a diner to have pasta or chicken salad or a boring salad, you don’t have a clue. the service? quick. why? not just because they like you, but because they have to turn tables quickly. it’s all about quantity yo! the waiters and bussers are friendly and helpful. the décor? meh. it’s fairly generic diner glow-y fare. it’s clean enough and serves it’s purposes. the prices? great on normal stuff. terrible when you’re trying to order your favorite fancy dish at a diner you’re going to be disappointed by both the food and the value. your fault really. do i think think this is the end all be all of diners? no. Jersey ones leave city ones in the dust (U O E N O Rocko/Future. Listen to it).) are there better breakfasts and burgers in the city? obviously. however if you HANGRY and not sober(drink responsibly kiiiids) this is a place to go to assault that hangover. however this is a solid diner that’s open late in Hell’s Kitchen and does one heckuva job slinging eggs, bacon, burgers, hash, and all those other simple diner eats with efficiency. if you want something fancy or boojee– go elsewhere. no one will judge you. long live the DINER – well until IN-n_OUT opens on the East Coast then i don’t care. just kidding, diners are an important of the eating landscape like Bodegas… support’em before we lose them all. drops mic. so i can handle this patty melt which is a two-handed smash! i’z out. zzz

This is probably more of a 3.5 star review, but my last visit really set me back. The first thing I do enjoy about this diner is the abundant seating on 9th Ave and 46th Street, and usually covered by their awnings. It’s a big patio space, and they make good use of it. I usually come here for weekend breakfast/brunch, and their menu is pretty standard diner fare. Nothing over the top, and it’s good, decent diner food. The only issue I have is sometimes the wait for food can be odd. My most recent visit, our order couldn’t have been simple, yet two tables near us got their food first even though they sat and ordered well after us. The waiter apologized, and didn’t charge me the $ 1 for a soda refill(which is ridiculous in any event). Short story shorter: if you’re hungover and want a decent breakfast in HK and soak up some summer sun, this place is decent, and shouldn’t be overlooked in favor of other, more expensive HK options. Just be on top of the waiters when necessary.

Amazing Brunch special that includes a main dish, juice or mimosa or champagne, and coffee or tea for $ 13.95. Constant coffee warm ups, attentive staff, generous portions, fresh food, reasonable prices. Loved my experience.
