2 stars because I had this twice and the first was just ok but the second time was bad. And the beef kibeh is delicoius. But sorry, the chicken shawarma was served completely cold, poorly spiced, and huge chunk of pure fat in my mouth on the 3rd bite made be nearly vomit. Disappointing.

They recently changed the menu. Used to eat here all the time, but most of my favorite lunch options aren’t available and the prices are outrageous. Bring back the old menu!

This place is now Kosher and it’s like a totally different place. I had gone a few years ago and it was really bad and I wouldn’t go back. Now it’s great! Can’t believe it! The food is really good! We got the Schwarma and the burger with an egg on top. So happy to have a place like this in the neighborhood!

I don’t go to the city often, but whenever i do, restaurants aren’t the hardest to find. I always like to explore new places, you get to experiment and try new things. Today i was by central park, and found this kosher place on Unilocal.Reading some reviews led me to believe Pita Grill wasn’t so good, but now that i went there, i’m left speechless. THISPLACEISGREAT! My girlfriend ordered the chicken shawarma pita, i got the baguette, and wow what a good sandwich! They already pre-load it with all the salads, and hummus to make our sandwiches tasting amazing. PROs: –Great tasting food –Good service –Really nice second floor seating –KOSHER

I don’t get the bad reviews here. I think a lot of it has to do with delivery, which I can’t comment on. But I have no complaints for takeout/eating in. The falafels are always fresh, the hummus is yummy. It’s quick and never crowded. It’s maybe nothing special but It’s definitely not 2-star quality. Pro-tip: they usually don’t offer, but you can get hummus or baba ghanoush in your falafel pita for free if you ask.

Two stars is correct for this place. 3 at best. I read the wildly disparate reviews and tried myself. I ordered and carried out, thus I had no issues with delivery. This is all about food and service. $ 10 turkey burger and fries. Cheap for NYC. Ordered with pickles, onion or mayo. Came with all three. Mediocre burger, not bad, but not good either. Great French Fries. Overall, ok place, but nothing special at all. I was only customer, so they weren’t confused by my order. They were just going thru the motions.

Generally I’ve had ok experiences with this place when it comes to food quality. Delivery on the other hand is a completely different story they’re never on time it generally takes an hour ir more to get your food and if you make any requests like for ketchup or for something reasonable it probably won’t be honored. Today I just had a delivery guy get rude with me because he felt like his tip was insufficient even though it was above 10% generally I like to tip 20% or more but because of my past experiences I simply click the 10% tip on GrubHub and go about my business. Judging by the attitude that I received today I was correct in doing so. Update* so less than two hours later I get a call from a nice lady named Valentina(dont hate me if I spelled it wrong) about the review and she handled the situation very well. She made it clear that it was a fluke, apologized and assured me that it would not happen again. It’s nice to see management take a personal interest in what customers have to say. I love when I find a place that cares about customers.

Agree entirely with Jackie S: I can’t understand why the reviews are so negative. And there aren’t a lot of inexpensive places in this area other than a dismal Chinese I passed on 1st and a lot of slice places. Moonstruck Diner I will try. I ended up here by accident because apparently I can’t read and was going to try Maya on 64th and 1st. But I thought it was 54th and it would have been closed by the time I arrived. But I am excited about that place because as a girl formerly in New York 3 months a year and now more like 7, I have to get a local Mexican fix that isn’t Rosa Mexicano pricing. And now in search of good cheap places because Lenny’s is too far and Bread Factory went out of business on Lex and 61st. During my 3 month a year years in the city, I spent literally double on food my three months in New York as my six months in CA because three months with parents as caretaker and the rest in SB where I had no social life.(This is why you should trust my Unilocal reviews: I am brutally honest.) I never buy clothes or other accessories here and I just don’t shop very much in general anymore. ALL my money in New York is spent at restaurants. But being here now over half the year I have to be good since rent is higher here(and I used to stay at a friend’s place in what is now going to be my apartment. The guy working there tonight was SO nice. Charged my vape will I waited. I got the Mexican corn, the grilled veggies and one tilapia taco. Big and fresh and yummy. Three things 16 bucks and it’s a lot of food. Plus a free soda when you check in on Unilocal. They deliver. Also great is my little tour of 2nd. I rarely walk around there and on 58th there are two Indian, one Chinese, and an Irish pub of the Pig and Whistle variety that looks decent. They have a low-fat rice pudding for 3 which is really two 4-ounce servings, babaganoush, quinoa salad, also beet and carrot salads. I wouldn’t get a burger there but the pita dishes(with platter you get sides) all look good.

A decent, quick meal for a decent price(hard to find around here). Upstairs seating area is cozy to sit in. One major plus was how friendly the staff was, and how they went out of their way to ensure that my meal was satisfactory! :-)

The Lunch Special and Smoothies signs outside caught my eye. Along with the sign indicating seating upstairs. Customer service is alright. I initially placed an order with one of the guys at the register but we were both confused about the Lunch Special menu. The girl with the glasses and small nose piercing took over. I don’t think she was the one mentioned in the reviews here because this girl knew what she was doing and seemed to be keeping the whole business running smoothly. There’s also a sign outside the window to hire new cashiers. Maybe their customer service will improve? My «Anil Gupta Tandoori Chicken Wrap» was $ 8.95 pre-tax and came with the options of french fries or salad(I picked side salad) and a can of soda or bottled water(I picked water). The seats upstairs were clean, spacious, and modern with a pretty neat view over 57th Street &2nd Ave. So far, so good. I checked in on Unilocal and was surprised at the low ratings. My chicken wrap with mango chutney and basmati rice looked pretty good too. So I bite into it… Dry. Dry grilled chicken with a smoky aftertaste. Where are all the spices for my TANDOORI chicken?! The thick pita wrap seemed to be whole wheat but it likewise, it was DRY. Thank goodness for the free cold bottled water. Rice had no flavors. I could only taste the small mango chunks and onions. Heck, the side salad with the tomato slices and lettuce pieces was the best part. At least that had some spices tossed on top.

You decide you want to have dinner. You venture around the area looking for a healthy alternative. You walk in to Pita & Grill and it looks promising. You are greeted by a woman who wants to kill you just for ordering and making her do work. Then she looks at you dumbfounded when you ask to add tandoori chicken to it. Finally she figures it out and tells you it will cost 2x the price of the salad. You sigh and agree. Armed with a $ 16 salad, you get home and open it — proud at your healthy decision. But… not only is there barely any chicken, it is barely seasoned. Tell me, how would you feel? Never again…

«Somewhat healthy eats» This a nice middle eastern type place that serves food in HUGE amounts, which may be a bad thing if you are trying to cut calories. I have never been able to eat an entire platter. The place is a little small and relatively clean but there is seating available upstairs. The gyro and other menu options can be «upgraded» to a plater, which includes 2 sides for about 10 bucks. I would recommend getting the mashed sweet potatoes. On my last visit, I ordered the lamb gyro platter and it was just ok because I found the lamb to be kind of fatty. I have better better food here before, like the fish tacos and the various rice bowls. So maybe my last visit was an off day. Also, various types of humus are sold here. I would highly recommend the California humus

I’m really surprised at the low ratings here… but they do seem to be all for poor delivery service. I usually walk in and grab something to go. I’m a big fan or the rice bowls and their babaganoush is Fantastic! Not sure what is going on with the staff, but they’ve been fine with me.

WORST customer service on the planet — avoid this hole at all costs. we waited 2+ hours for delivery, were hung up on several times by incompetent staff, and received not even a simple apology at the end of this fiasco. most importantly their food is only average and supremely overpriced. buy your own $ 3 hummus and $ 2 pita and save yourself $ 20 and a TON of aggravation.

I LOVE Pita Grill… in fact I think they have the best grilled chicken in NYC and their pita grill salad is the bomb. So why did I give them 1 star? I was about halfway through eating my salad when I discovered a large dead cockroach in the middle of the $#%$&*% salad! WTF??? Flies happen, hairs happen, even a small bug might be forgivable(meh maybe not) but to prep a salad and box it for delivery with an 1″ long cockroach in it… I’m disgusted and in shock but assuming the chain is legit, this location deserves a visit from the NYC food inspector. Buyer beware… unless you’re into bug-salads. Update: THISLOCATIONIS B-rated by NYC Department of Health. It is the ONLY Pita Grill location I see with a sub-A rating. Sanitary Violations 1) Hot food item not held at or above 140º F. 2) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas. 3) Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service. 4) Facility not vermin proof. I love their food! Healthy, tasty, and it offers a very good price. Not a fancy place. It’s one of those restaurants that you go when you are looking for a quick lunch.

Meh. OK food. Watery lentil soup but yummy pita bread. The label on their quinoa salad was wrong with almost every ingredient except the quinoa, but still tasted alright. Rude service. I can’t say anything about the wait since my order consisted of ladeling soup into a bowl. Nice seating area upstairs. Might come back.

Okay I’m going to be very honest here, I was extremely skeptical ordering delivery from here because of how poor the reviews are, but all I have to say is… WHATISWRONGWITHYOUPEOPLE?! Many complain delivery takes forever but this order came in exactly a half hour(Seamless gave me a timeframe of 20−35min). The food was very good too! I ordered the mushroom hummus, which was good and a pretty large portion, though I think it could’ve benefitted from just a drop of lemon juice. I had two falafel balls which were good as well, but falafel is best when fresh and not being transported through 20 degree weather. I also had the Grilled Vegetable Athena Platter which was loaded with eggplant like I asked, and not overly drenched in dressing. All this came with pita bread and two types of tahini sauces! Lots of food, great prices, y’all Pita Grill party poopers should give this place a second chance.

Probably the worst delivery service I’ve ever dealt with. I ordered a very simple order online at 12:35pm. The wait said it would be 25 – 35 minutes. I wanted around the 45 minute mark and called the restaurant. She said that it was on his way, would be there very shortly, then hung up the phone. I waited a bit more, about an hour and twenty minutes in, and called back. The manager said that he would be there in five minutes, but said she would refund the order so that I would not be charged. I waited another twenty minutes, bringing it to about TWOHOURS. I called back and told her to cancel my order and that I did not want to receive it any longer. The delivery man called me about 10 minutes after that saying my food was downstairs, which I proceeded to tell him that the order had already been cancelled. I have never dealt with such poor customer service before. If you know that your wait time is going to be long, at least be honest with the customer and post the correct estimated delivery time. Do not go on to tell me that the food will be there in five minutes, and not get to me about an additional hour later. I will definitely never order from here again.

he pedido un chiquen pita. demasiado pimiento y poco chiquen. Por 9 dolares! No estuvo mal pero New York ofrece mejores opciones por ese precio. No volvere!
