Okay, so I’ve only gotten delivery from here. But still, I get the gist. It’s cheap, warm, juicy chicken. I grew up in the ‘burbs where there’s quite a few Boston Markets. Tastes the same, I actually would prefer BM because I like their sides better. I could get a $ 4.99 whole rotisserie chicken at the grocery store too if I really want a cheap chicken dinner. Okay fine, Peter’s is juicier.

Ordered the Lunch Special yesterday and I barely touched it, Rotisserie Chicken with rotisserie vegetables and Mac n’ cheese Although there was juices from the chicken in the plastic tin, the chicken was dry, no appealing flavor and the Mac N’ Cheese was not edible It’s saving grace was the vegetables which were okay but I was not impressed I prefer Boston Market to be honest, at least the Macaroni and Cheese taste like it was made with real cheese

Quick, filling, tasty, and reasonably priced. If you work in the area, you really can’t beat the amount of food you get here for the price. The sides are always fresh and tasty and the food is overall good. 3.5 stars

Such. Heavy. Food. & Enormous. Portions. I’m not such a soul food lover but my gosh if you’re looking to be uncomfortably full you should definitely hit up Peters. Been here only for lunch and boy you have to come hungry. I always get the ¼ Rotisserie chicken with 2 sides and a roll($ 8.66 with tax). The chicken was alright(I got white meat) but what’s really killer here are the sides. I got the spinach and turkey stuffing. Really the Mac and CHeese looks like where it’s at. Also get the corn muffin instead of the sweet roll – it was not too fresh and I was disappointed. They also have sandwiches(BBQ Chicken /Brisket/PUlled pork) and other types of main meal meat dishes(Turkey /MEatloaf etc) along with a ceasar salad(friend said they put on too much dressing) and soups! Next time I might need to downgrade to a kids meal, it’s just so gosh darn much food!

Generous portions at low prices. Yes! I’ve tried their pulled pork(yummy, but a bit too sweet and dry), meatloaf with gravy(yum), mashed sweet potatoes(yum), macaroni and cheese(fine but kind of blah), creamed spinach(good), and cooked veggies(well-seasoned but too oily). The sweet muffin is hard and not so great, but I liked the corn muffin. Seriously, it’s good food and it will fill you up for only $ 10 – a steal for this neighborhood.

O.M.G excellent, excellent, excellent food. You won’t understand what I mean till you really try their food. The seasoning of their food is making me go back there now almost every day. Thank you so much to the chef and all the super friendly workers. Better than their food, only my mother’s LOL

Really dig this southern bbq place. Really good roasted chicken, dark meat, sandwich, and SIDES! Potatoes, veggies, mac and cheese, corn, gravy, etc. I can come in anytime and have a 3 piece + 2 sides. Great service, and food is always hot and fresh.

I’ve been here five or six times since moving to the neighborhood, and it’s definitely a place I will continue to visit once every month or two. Pros: Delicious home cooked food. Think … Boston Market but more homemade. Great drinks(fresh lemonade, beer, fresh iced tea, nice water bottles on the tables). Great sides(cornbread mmm). Delicious desserts. Beautiful interior of the restaurant. Cons: I once found glass in my stuffing and they didn’t really do anything about it. Pricey — for what it is, it’s a little on the expensive side — and the pricing doesn’t make a ton of sense.

We ordered a family style meal to go. The sides are displayed in dutch ovens and looked so good. The man before us ordered the pulled pork with 2 sides and the portions were so generous. I love that they serve it on actual plates and they have When we got home we feasted. I think my fave side was the creamed corn with jalapenos. It definitely has that homestyle appeal and is well-priced. Enjoy!

I’m very sad to report that this place has gone down in quality substantially since they opened. I used to come here maybe 3 times a week for the first year. Now they have soggy & flavorless side dishes, dry rotisserie chicken and smaller portions(in their new take out plasticware). I can’t recommend this place anymore.

This place has good, fast food at an extremely low price and is definitely worth a visit if you like southern food. I had the ¼ chicken(dark meat) with mac and cheese, collard greens, corn bread, and a diet coke(free refills). And by the way, this cost me a little more than $ 10! The chicken portion wasn’t huge, but everything else was – they gave me a heaping portion of mac and cheese that could be a meal on its own and a bowl full of collard greens. The chicken was good. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had, but who can argue at this price. I loved the mac and cheese. It had a really homemade flavor with chunks of cheese bursting out of each pasta shell. The collards were decent and the corn break was okay. It isn’t the best food in the world, but it’s an amazing value if you want to get stuffed on a budget.

Um hey Peter… what the heck happened? I went tonight to get dinner, my usual half chicken with two sides and the entire experience was weird. The sides used to be put into the same containers as the soups, but now they shove a couple spoonfuls into a plastic container which isn’t the same amount that you used to get(it’s about 1⁄3 less). The chicken I got tonight was dry and not seasoned right at all. Even worse? The baked beans which I absolutely LOVED are completely different. They’re white beans instead of red and the sauce is completely different(and not in a good way). It’s now bitter and not sweet at all. I don’t know what’s going on with this place. I mean, on the surface everything looks fine(though I did notice a good number of the staff were new). I’m going to stay away for a while and hope things get better in a month or two. For now, I’m staying away.

I didn’t think that this place was very good. It’s like a step up from a Boston Market. The Mac & Cheese was OK, the pork was very fatty and the collard greens were lack luster.

This place keeps going down hill… The first couple times I got take out or delivery I really enjoyed it… Now they seem to screw up the order or it’s cold when it arrives. I’m just about done ordering from here. Their mac and cheese leaves a lot to be desired.

It’s nothing life changing, but some good comfort food that will stick to your stomach without emptying your wallet. Their hours are good; I came here well past 10pm after an Elite event and was able to get a good meal to round out the tidbits I’d been eating all evening. I enjoyed the mac and cheese and pulled pork. I’d come back again if I were in the area and in a similar situation but I have enough good soul food in my corner of town that I wouldn’t come out here specifically for this place.

What a pleasant surprise. I’ve avoided this place because it appeared to be a chain(I’d seen the other one on Bedford Ave), but it turns out there are only two. However, it still feels like a chain… a little bit too perfect, you know? The flip-side of that is that the service was over-the-top in politeness, so much so I was almost taken aback, used to pretty casual or nearly wordless exhanges in this town. I got the vegetarian entrée, which is 3 sides plus a muffin. The mac-and-cheese, sweet potates and spinach were decent but nothing to rave about, but the portions were enormous, filling, and dare I say, comforting. You get to drink water out of a real glass, which you can refill at leisure, eat with real silveware off of real plates, and generally feel surprisingly civilized for once. I left satisfied; I’ll be back.

An upgrade to Boston Market, wanted to try the spot since it was reviewed by Bill S. and Joshua A. with such differing opinions. While the food here tastes less processed prices do run higher for it than the other guys. The space is nice and with communal tables and tap water bottles on the tables. Sauces like green and horseradish are yours for the taking with your meal. Food is served in red LeCrueset pots so you have to ask the servers to lift them up to see the food. I went with three sides for $ 11.75 and they added in a soup as a special promo. The chicken soup was delish with pieces of white meat chicken, very seasoned with herbs, celery and carrots. Mac and cheese was ok Sweet potaotes were ok Stewed okra with tomatoes was a winner, just cooked right with the lovely flavor of tomatoes.

3 ½ stars really. A better tasting version of Boston Chicken. I find the ¼ chicken makes for a comfortably but not overly filling meal. For a little less than $ 10, you get 2 pieces of chicken(I get the dark, so it’s a thigh and drumstick), 2 sides, 1 bread(cornbread better than sweet bun) and a soup. I like eating in too, it’s clean, comfortable. Plenty of seating for groups. Also, A+ to the workers, they’re super friendly. Not the most creative meal, think your typical rotisserie chicken with your typical sides, but where else can you find a similar meal in the neighborhood?

What happened to Better Burger?! Its ok, I like this new place even though the name is a little wackadoo. What is the name of this place: Peters? Peters Rotisserie? Peters Since 1969? Anyway, I had this dude hawking flyer’s and I stopped in. They have these huge Le Creuset pots with a bunch of yummy sides. If you read my reviews, I like to take NYC food home to my family. My wife, god bless her, works really hard as well as I. We deserve good takeout dagnabit! I order the following: Family Style Whole Chicken Peters Sausage with the following sides: Creamed Spinach Mac & Cheese Sweet Potatoes Creamed Corn Homemade Cabbage Salad I’m gonna talk about the Sausage first, it was pretty darn good. Here is the deal. Its old school, with braised cabbage. I really liked it but the rest of my family passed on it. I thought the chicken was really good! I brought it back to Stony Brook and after heating it up, everyone flipped. Here is the kicker: all this food for a family of 4 was under $ 40 bucks! I’ll be back. *Side note, the desserts here are from the Little Pie Company.
