Bourbon Street bar/grille Decent place for a Massive burger! Amazing happy hour price, $ 8 for any burger and some $ 6 cocktails! You can’t beat that anywhere near time sq. I didn’t get there late enough for the nice garden seating upstairs but maybe next time. PROTIP: HAPPYHOUR

It’s a great bar and bartender. I made the mistake if ordering food though. The food was over cooked and salty and took forever for the order in the kitchen.

Stopped here after a Broadway play and I have to say this place was awesome, we sat outside on the patio. Food was great, honey garlic wings was on point, fried catfish w/cheesy grits was very delicious but beware of the crawfish étouffée its spicy and the bread pudding awe man was the high light. I will be go there again.

I was attracted by the beautiful ironwork in the entrance. Went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the chicken salad– not greasy and quite tasty!

This is a follow up to my initial 2-star review in March 2016. In March, I had had dinner at Bourbon Street Bar and Grill along with my brother and both of us found the whole experience underwhelming. Mostly because of the lack of bold Cajun/Creole flavors in any of the dishes we ordered. And my review made plenty of notes about that end of our experience. To my surprise, the owner of the restaurant Keith responded to my review and offered to make it right by inviting me back for a second time. In his response, he pointed out that the clientele of NYC responded better to toned down flavors instead of the full flavors of authentic Cajun food.(guess they have to play by the rules of the market they are in.) He also offered to have his chef prepare the dishes the authentic New Orleans way when we returned and was generous enough to comp part of the meal. Honestly I would have given the place 5 stars just based on the follow up by Keith! I am happy to report that when we did go back, things were kicked up several notches. The food tasted absolutely delicious and authentic Cajun! The service was fantastic! The ambiance awesome as always! Just the kind of experience I was hoping for. The bottomline is that this place is a marvelous gem in NYC for those of us who crave bold flavors. Now I know to request them to kick it up a notch or two. Even those who prefer their Cajun food toned down, this place is an excellent hangout joint after work or to watch sports while enjoying a great meal at the bar. Happy grubbing!

Came for brunch and enjoyed everything about it. Ambiance was good with smooth jazz playing softly in the background. We ordered French Toast(with bacon and home fries) and Cajun Fried Eggs over Jambalaya, a pitcher of Mimosa, and Bread Pudding for dessert. Everything was very tasty and the bread pudding was out of this world(and very huge). All portions were worth the cost. Actually, the prices are very reasonable considering this is on Restaurant Row. It is a must visit spot.

great place, you can sit outside and have a HUGE burger for $ 8 during lunch time on weekdays. Can’t beat that. Good service, good food.

Ummm, not sure my review will matter but I’ve had better Cajun food. The only things I liked were the gumbo and some alligator app and those actually filled me up. I didn’t need the rest. One of my favorite foods is hush puppies, these were the worse I ever had. The side veggies were bland. I didn’t order the chicken and biscuits with gravy but I’m glad I didn’t. First, I don’t like gravy, and even if I did the chicken and biscuits were killed by how much gravy was poured over them. Anyway, the food wasn’t for me.

The place was empty and she sat me at a small two top. The dark and stormy was typical. I had the gumbo to start. From the perspective of a Texan with Louisiana roots, it is close to the two things except that it’s a little sweet. At least they use filé and not tomato paste like some places. I also had the spinach skald and a crab cake($ 4 a la carte). The salad was enjoyable because I like blue cheese and candied pecans. The crab cake on the other had, was mostly breading and crawfish tails. I know crawfish when I see it. This was enough to fill me up. All in all, seems like a good place for happy hour because of cheap drinks, extended happy hour, and plenty of purse hooks. I may return for that but not the food

Let’s just start with we tend to be NOLA purists and are somewhat picky. ;). That being said this is a gem in the rough right here in NYC. We enjoyed great food! DH enjoyed the po’boy with brisket debris while I loved loved loved the bBQ shrimps. Mostly we had really wonderful service!

The service here is good and the drinks are tasty. It’s a rather large space, very large in fact and good for a groups. I love the fact that the bathrooms are located downstairs and away from the food. The food… though decent, the catfish, string beans and spinach were a tad over seasoned. In other words, every single iota of garlic, salt, and whatever else they used to season the food could be tasted by my tastebuds. They have a great desert menu that’s full of sugary options! Yay! Also, the bar is large and well stocked with a variety of drinks to choose from.

To be fair, I wasn’t here for very long. Stopped by with two of my colleagues while bar hopping and figuring out where to settle for St. Patrick’s Day. It was around 5:30pm, and while there were a decent number of people, we were seated right away. Didn’t try the food. We decided to try the swamp juice drink(mostly for the green color, in the spirit of the holiday), and it was awfully sweet(emphasis on the awful). I could only(barely) tolerate one sip. To their credit, the server did give us her honest opinion that she didn’t like it because she herself is not a fan of sweet drinks. Finished off the evening with Guinness and went about the rest of our night elsewhere. Verdict: wouldn’t make this my final destination(there are better bars around), but I wouldn’t stop anyone from going there.

I had a hankering for cajun food during a recent trip to NYC so I went with a group of friends to Burbon Street. I made a reservation for 6 people early in the evening so when we arrived it wasn’t crowded. We were seated immediately and sat leisurely at our table for a good hour before we even ordered food. I ordered the blackened catfish with mashed potatoes and green beans. The menu is American with a few southern/creole(i.e. Jambalaya) sprinkled in. Honestly, the fact that the restaurant considers itself a representation of N’Awlins is kind of a joke but whatever… I was on the fence about what to order so I asked the waiter to help us decide. He recommended the blackened catfish without hesitation so that’s what I went with. I left feeling like I should have ordered the Jambalaya instead. The green beans and mashed potatoes were fine. It was good but nothing exceptional or anything. The catfish, on the other hand, wasn’t very good. It was more burnt than«blackened.» I ended eating the fish after scraping off the skin. It was too charred to be edible. I expected it to be better considering that our server recommended it. Even still, I’d return to Bourbon if I ever found myself in the city again. The staff was friendly and professional. They smiled and laughed a lot and truly engaged the customers. That was nice. The restaurant’s décor was really cute and the atmosphere was warm. Everyone in my party had a wonderful time and the entire experience is now a wonderful memory.

It was A-OK. We went here with a medium sized group, celebrating a friend’s birthday. This place is really big and«festively» adorned which was cool because we were in a festive mood. I thought the service was really attentive but I wasn’t as happy with us being seated in their«sun» room when it was the coldest night in recent history. It was OK but towards the end we were all pretty damn cold. The food was decent. It wan’t really that Cajun or Creole(but I’m from the South and I knew it wouldn’t be), but the taste and quality were there. Plus the prices were good compared to the portion size and the hot apps were all pretty tasty. The drinks were a bit sweet for me, but they were large. Can’t say we would be dying to return here but it’s worth a try if you’re in the area and you’re looking for affordability and good service.

Just came here for happy hour drinks. We were drawn to the $ 6 specialty cocktails, but they’re quite small though strong. Unfortunately I don’t remember the size, but they were served in tall skinny glasses and I felt that they weren’t worth the $ 6, compared to other happy hours I’ve been to. We got the St. Charles and the Swamp Juice, both of which were good. Swamp Juice is very sweet(strong melon taste), but the St. Charles is less sweet, which I appreciated. The ambience is nice for a casual drink — lively and mardi gras decorations everywhere, but it felt sort of like a chain restaurant. I don’t think I would come here again, but it was fun to try out their cocktails anyway.

Love this hidden gem! I have not been to New Orleans yet, but this place seems to be a nice indication of what I can expect. I have gone here frequently for Happy Hour with co-workers when I was in the city or just a late night chill spot before a movie or Broadway Show. From the gilded railing to the textured wallpaper and different cute nooks and crannies to sit in all over the restaurant I can always enjoy my time here. The lamp shades, the warm dim lights all make this restaurant feel super homey and inviting. The prices are reasonable and the service is usually solid. My favorite drink of choice here is the $ 5 Hurricane. When I am in the mood for a full meal I like to order the Buttermilk Biscuit with sausage and gravy. For Happy Hour I share the wings, french fries and potato skins with friends.

Hot damn this place is good. The staff is super friendly and attentive and the food hits the spot! We were seated immediately and they were great about making sure we were served quickly and could get out in time for our theater. They have happy hour twice but the earlier one goes all the way until 8pm! So we tried the hurricane for only $ 5… sadly WAY too sweet for my taste. Beers are only $ 4. As far as food goes, the gumbo starter is superb. It is a hearty portion and has just enough spice and tons of chunks of andouille sausage and chicken. I’m drooling just remembering it. The catfish entrée was also phenomenal. I ordered it blackened and they did a great job with the spices. The fish was flaky and perfectly cooked. The sides were pretty good too. You can pick any two you want. The grits were only so-so but the veggies were quite tasty. The dish also comes with hush puppies which were AWESOME! The pecan pie dessert was good but VERY sweet. I can’t get over how affordable this place is and yet you still get huge portions. They offer a 3 course prix fix for only $ 24.95 and even the a la carte options are super cheap. Next time I’m in NYC I will definitely be back!

I love love love this NOLA inspired restaurant for so many reasons. On my most recent visit we made a 5:30 reservation. We arrived at approximately 5:20 and were seated right away. I was super happy to see that the holiday decorations were already displayed. I think the décor is such an awesome touch and definitely puts everyone in a jolly mood. There are also several televisions for your sports viewing pleasure :-) Also the place is huge! On my most recent visit I noticed that there is also a bar in the back in addition to the main front bar. So this spot is definitely good for groups! Our sever quickly came to our table and informed us that it was happy hour. She did ab awesome job throughout the night. She was bubbly, attentive, and knowledgable. I ordered the swamp juice which was pleasantly delicious. The happy hour is great including wines, beers, and cocktails. For food we went with the BBQ calamari and gator in a blanket for appetizers. They were both great! In my opinion the BBQ calamari is genius. The alligator in a blanket was also an awesome app; however, my boyfriend and I joked about the fact that we do not think we received all that was indicated on the menu. The description includes bacon and mozzarella. Our app seemed more of just the gator, pastry, and aioli. The aioli had awesome flavors. For an entrée I ordered the Jamburrito and my boyfriend had the Jambalaya. The burrito was huge! The burrito was stuffed with jambalaya with cheese, guacamole, and tomatoes. The burrito was good no complaints but I’m not sure if I’d order it again. My boyfriend loved his jambalaya and used the seasoning along with the hot sauce provided on the table. Overall it was a great experience. My boyfriend already plans on exposing his father to the good times at Bourbon Street Bar & Grille. I definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone who wants a taste of NOLA in NYC!

My family is from Louisiana so I’m very picky about Cajun food. But then I had to remember I was in New York and everything up here is better! Long story short– Hurricane is sugary sweet and delicious! Food — shrimp Po boy was tasty! I needed a little more romalaude sauce but it was very good. French fries were crunch and fresh. Bread pudding was thick like a fine ass! I love the interior, HUGE bar with tons of tv’s turned to Sunday Night football.

I’m a sucka for pretty décor and lighting. It’s refreshing to have a non-touristy restaurant in a very touristy area. I’ve never been to the NOLA, but I feel that the essence and layout of BSBG is reminiscent of what I experienced today. The host was super sweet and accommodating. She didn’t mind making the trek upstairs to seat us, giving us plenty of options to dine in or out. We decided to stay in and avoid the sweltering sun. We started off with the Traditional Calamari. It tasted like a rubber pencil eraser, not edible at all. From what my palate gathered the squid was not fresh. HH was in full swing so we placed an order of the featured drink, Hurricane. Too sweet for my taste and not enough rum to balance out the grenadine, simple syrup, and passion fruit juice. We had the Catfish Po’Boy and Bourbon Street Burger. Entrees were slamming minus the fries that almost caused us to have high blood pressure. There’s no need for salt and Cajun seasoning. I literally scraped off the seasoning because I couldn’t manage to eat another one after experiencing the first salt lick. We’re talking, enjoying each other’s company when something weird happened. A busboy came over and picked up my empty glass, then takes it away. I was under the impression he came by to clear the table of unwanted tableware. Nope, just my glass. He didn’t mention a word to us, but calls our waitress over to show her the glass. The powwow took about five minutes. Nothing more came of the situation. The only thing I can think of is that he saw me looking at my cracked glass. Twenty minutes later our waitress approaches us asking if we wanted to «chill out or were we ready for the check?» If we were ready we would’ve made that clear. She scampered off. Needless to say she left us alone until we were ready, as it should be. I digress.
