Extremely friendly delivery service! I ordered their seafood and preserved egg with pork congees– both delicious! Can’t wait to try their noodle dishes next!

Was looking for a spot to have quick lunch and this spot was recommended. It appeared to have the traditional homey atmosphere of the older Chinese establishments and the food and everything else matched! I ordered the hot pot, which was actually excessively HOT and took a few minutes longer than I expected to arrive. I opted for chicken, which was OK, but nothing special really. The rice had various levels, depending how close it was to the hot pot interior. I got the soft rice to the crunchy rice on the pot, and it was an adventure. I needed to use some sauces to get more flavor into the dish, which I expected… Overall a good experience. Would go back to do noodles.

It was very packed on a Sunday night during dinner time. But the soup dumplings and wonton noodle soup were so delicious! Everything was so flavorful. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for some comfort food.

Hands down, best wonton I’ve ever had. Cilantro thousand year old wonton was so delicious.

Congee, congee, congee! This place serves a distinct and delicious chicken congee. The fried cruller reminded me of childhood so obviously I loved it. Their serving sizes look small but are actually quite large and filling. Get here when they open to avoid a wait. The first time I came here right when they opened and were seated right away; soon after the crowds started piling in and by the time we left, the restaurant was full. The second time I came here around noon and the wait was 30 – 40 minutes(and we had to share a table).

I ordered the Fish Tofu Noodle Soup and it was ok, it might just be because of what I ordered. My friend got the congee and she really liked that. The place is also not decorated with much. I did however, love the xiaolongbao soup dumplings. The soup and meat in it was so delicious!

I met up tonight with my friend Genevieve, the person behind 90% of my restaurant knowledge in this city. This is a girl who eats the Omakase at Nakazawa on a Friday afternoon before returning to work, or orders a car to Queens for Taiwanese. She suggested this place because she was feeling rather ill, and wanted to save my suggestion(Manila Social Club) for next week. Upon arrival, I’m greeted by a rather pale face and steaming hot plates and bowls of soup dumplings, congee, fried lollipop chicken, and wontons in soup. The soup dumplings were superb, and none popped and spilled all over me which was a plus. The congee was a solid dish; peppered with fried crueller, pork fat, roasted peanuts, and squid. The rice itself could’ve been better, it seemed as if it was made with water and not a broth or stock. The lollipop chicken was fun, crunchy and packed with flavor. Genevieve seemed to enjoy it, so it obviously overcame her dulled tastebuds. She tells me she’s had better though. And lastly, the soup wontons. These were my favorite. Each bite I took, I peered into this wrapped goodness and could actually make out distinct ingredients(that’s always a plus in Chinatown restaurants). The service was surprisingly refreshing too. My tea never went empty, but of course I was never offered water. I think the Chinese have something against cold ice water — meh. Definitely going to come back though; the table next to use ordered a curried oxtail dish which looked and smelled divine. If only I wasn’t watching my waistline for a week of being half-naked in Fire Island in late August.

I went here with my boyfriend to try something new and I have to say they waiters were very welcoming and nice. They were very attentive and polite about everything you ask them. They will even give you forks when you don’t know how to eat with chopsticks just yet. The food was delicious! I had brisket beef ramen and that was on the money! I will be revisiting this place again when I come back to ChinaTown! No complaints!

I honestly didn’t expect to go anywhere near Manhattan, wait is it Manhattan? but into Chinatown, since my trip to New York was primarily for work and we were in Long Island more or less. My coworker convinced me to go with him to Chinatown as we were bored at night, and let me tell you, as a California driver, roads in New York is a lot different, like they learned how to build roads by the time they got to California. Anyways, we got to Chinatown, and searched up for a place to eat and Noodle Village came up as one of the top contenders so we said sure. It was night time so we actually walked past the restaurant and then looped back. Put up better signs, gosh. We were seated prompt, well it was pretty late on a Tuesday night and they were closing in like 45 minutes, so there weren’t many people. We were offered menus and hot tea and we ended up ordering the wonton noodle soup, squid and pork skin curry, and the Shanghai dumplings. Originally we ordered the crab meat dumplings but they were out, so we settled on the Shanghai dumplings. They were pretty quick, as we ended up being the only ones in the restaurant by that time and the food was delicious. One of the best wonton noodle soups I have ever had. The egg noodles were fresh, and crunchy, while the wontons were big filled with pork and shrimp while the broth was clear, and not too salty. Is it something about New York that made this bowl of soup taste better or am I tripping? Then came the squid and pork skin curry and after the Shanghai dumplings. The squid and pork skin curry was delicious. It’s Hong Kong style so it is different from traditional curry. That Shanghai dumplings, one of the best. The skin was soft, and the meat, oh that meat was so good. I thought all the soup leaked out but then I bit into it, and the soup came squirting out and it was one delicious dish. God dammit, it’s there and I’m here in the bay. Definitely on my lost of places to return when I decide to go back to work.

Noodle Village used to be so good. Service and food quality has gone down tremulously. Sad because this used to be my go to place whenever I’m in Chinatown.

We came to NYC for Christmas vacation and the weather was pretty cold, and we were so hungry for couple bowls of soup noodles. We found Noodle Village and had lunch there, and it was a very good choice. The restaurant was small so you have to share the tables, however we were able to get a table for 3 of us. Overall I gave 5 stars since the customer service was very good and they were very attentive. They spoke in Cantonese but most of the time the waitress was asking us in English. The food was very nice and similar to the ones you would get in Hong Kong. We will definitely come back here again before we leave NYC!

Wonton Noodle Soup was always served as a comfort food growing up. Whether it is store bought or homemade, I had it available. A cold evening in December was just the perfect excuse to get this hearty bowl… again! Wonton Noodle Soup came in regular or large size. I went with regular which came with four huge pieces of wonton on top of thin yellow noodles in chicken broth. The wonton was stuffed with minced pork and a big piece of shrimp at the bottom. Since they were huge, I had to take two to three bites to finish but they were good! Thin yellow noodles had a nice chewy texture. Chicken broth was thin, it was good and much better than other variations I had at other places. I did wish it was topped with garnish like scallions. Cilantro with Black Egg Dumpling Noodle Soup. I had to LOL’ed at its English name! I read the Chinese name and it is actually the thousand-year egg, yeah it is the same one that you get with congee. The dumpling had minced pork with hints of cilantro and thousand year egg. I thought the cilantro added a nice fresh flavor to the dumpling that make it so tasty. I didn’t taste the thousand year egg much though. I would definitely get this again if I come back next time. A very modern Cantonese noodles spot that serves up good food that is worth your stay.

Noodle Village is like the wallflower coworker/classmate/acquaintance that you never realized was all that interesting. But then one day you talk to him/her after a long quiet spell and realize, «Hey, you’re pretty freaking cool.» So when I lived downtown my husband would come here all the time with his parents. The food always struck me as decent but not mind-blowing. Definitely not worth making a special trip now that I live uptown. Last night, a friend suggested hitting up this place after a workout, I was like«meh ok». But once we got our food, I must admit, I was pleasantly reminded of how good this place is. The food here is pretty standard Canto fair. Last night, we ordered wonton noodle soup, claypot rice with Chinese sausage, salty fish and ribs, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, scallion pancakes, cuttlefish, and soup dumplings. The claypot rice was crispy and flavorful, the wonton soup was nice and light and the Chinese broccoli had a nice umami kick from the oyster sauce. The xiaolongbaos(aka. soup dumplings) here are actually pretty decent, despite not being a canto dish. The skin is nice and thin(almost too thin as a couple broke in the steamer), with the right amount of juice. I think the only dish that was subpar were the scallion pancakes — they were a little too soft for my liking. Overall this is one of the few decent places to grab a bite in Chinatown for a reasonable price.

I love their 煲仔饭! super delicious! The fried chicken was good! The Xiao long Bao, soup dumpling was also very tasty! Don’t forget to try their congee! We tried three of them. A seafood one, a chicken congee and another one with minced pork and preserved eggs. All of them are really good! Make sure you have the congee with Chinese fried doughnuts.

A solid Chinese noshing establishment on the south eastern outskirts of Chinatown around the Civic Center of this fair city. And Noodle Village certainly lives up to its namesake; make no mistake, noodles are the name of the game here. Sure they have some non-noodle options(I’m looking at you, dumpling… rice too) but a good amount of the menu is dedicated to noodle dishes of a sort. Such items, for your pleasure, include noodle soups and lo mein combinations to choose from. Some are spicy, some are sea food-y, some are meaty… if you’re in the mood for noodles, odds are there will be at least one noodle option that would piqué your interest. I opted for the pork hock lo mein. For under $ 8.00, I got a large plate of noodles, topped off with a generous pile of pork hocks(pig knuckles), surrounded by Chinese broccoli, and a small bowl of broth on the side. Quite a bargain if you ask me. The dryness of the noodles didn’t bother me so much, especially with the succulent greasiness of the fatty pork hocks. All in all, a tasty lunch at an extremely reasonable price. Couple this with the very frequent tea refills and a welcome«5% off the bill» with Unilocal check in, and you have the makings of a good old standby of a lunching establishment(when this particular writer craves something different from a banh mi or a mess of dumplings).

Service: Servers are rude and feel irritated when you ask them for something. They literally make you feel like you’re really bothering them. The space: very warm in here and smells like you’re in Asia haha. Enough room to get around the room. Food: we got the soup dumplings. Thy were okay… I’ve had better. And we also got some other soup noodle which was also alright as well. All in all, we got seated right away and got our food very quickly. Just wished service was better and food to look and taste better.

This is a great, authentic, no MSG restaurant that merges simple ingredients with a Hong Kong atmosphere. I love going here when I can’t decide where in Chinatown I want to eat. This place has varieties such as soup dumplings, rice casseroles, Hk style Lo Mein, and delicious appetizers. The rice noodle is one of my favorites because of its thin layered freshness. Another favorite appetizer of mine is the hot and spicy cuttlefish. The sauce it comes with is addicting! The specials is definitely what you should consider when you can’t decide what to choose from. What tops this restaurant amongst others around the area is its service(always refilling your tea/water) and its no MSG added items.

Authentic spot to get some good Chinese food for cheap in a no frills atmosphere. The clay pot rice(they call it hot pot rice) was well done and quite size able — I wasn’t used to it coming with broccoli instead of some more traditional Chinese choi but was fine. The xiao long bao were juicy and size able but not as good as the world famous Din Tai Fung. Nonetheless they were respectable and I’d go back again for them. The mantou steam buns were also well done if you like that sort of thing. It’s a $ 25 minimum for credit card.

Back when I was dating a Chinese girl, this was the only place we went regularly where I like everything I got. I am not a huge fan of Chinese food to be honest. I’m a guailo and proud of it. I got to try a lot of places in Chinatown during this time but this was the main one because I requested to come back. The place isn’t much to look at; service is decent which means great in Chinatown. Accepting credit cards is also a good thing. The food is consistently good even if it isn’t great. Things I’ve gotten included soup dumplings, bean curds, veggies, braised beef lo mein, and chicken lo mein. I’m not a big lo mein guy but the rendition here is very good and the meat included is good quality. The dish is also pretty big which is nice as well. Soup dumplings are alright; bean curd was up there with the better versions I’ve had. If you’re looking for an accessible Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, I’d give this a shot. If you’re a connoisseur of Chinese food, my feeling is that this is still worth trying(again not an expert).

Have been here twice, both times because the wait was too long at Shanghai Asian Manor. The first time, we really enjoyed our meal. I think the key to success was peeking at what our Chinese-speaking neighbors were eating and asking them what their dishes were. We ended up with a delicious duo of Chinese greens with oyster sauce, as well as a really yummy hot pot — great if you’re a fan of that crispy rice that forms at the bottom of the clay bowls. The second time, we ordered a whole different set of things(except for the greens), and we were a bit disappointed. The soup dumplings weren’t piping hot, which meant that the soup was a bit gelatinous — not tasty. And the chicken in the fried rice seemed undercooked. We did repeat the greens dish and loved it again, but overall it was a much more disappointing meal. This place seems to be packed with lots of Chinese families in the evenings so I know it’s authentic; I think it’s just a matter of knowing what to order.
