The quality of the noodles has gone down… It used to be pretty legit, but somehow now the ramen isn’t that great anymore. It seems like maybe management changed, but I’m not definite.

Came here after wanting to try it out. Finally got the chance to go have ramen! I ordered the Veggie Ramen and the fried squid legs. The fried squid legs were good, but for $ 7, I don’t know if it’s worth it. However, I took two stars off mainly because of the ramen. It disappointed me a lot. The soup base was too salty which made it hard for me to have each bit without water. At one point, I felt sick from it that I quit eating only half way. Don’t order the veggie ramen or at least let them know that you want it with less salt, which I’m not sure if they would care about it.

We went here craving for some ramen and were glad the ramen lived up to its reputation. The service, though? TURNOFF. We ordered a roll of eel sushi($ 4.50), Chicken Teriyaki Ramen($ 9.50), and Chicken Katsu Don($ 10). The ramen and the rice came out first, followed by the eel sushi. We were glad they did come out first, as my friends and I LITERALLY opened our mouths in shock when the eel sushi was presented. The portion size was TINY. Tiny, I tell you. It didn’t help that the sushi was served on such a huge plate. The eel wasn’t even presented on top of the rice like we expected them to be. Chicken Teriyaki Ramen: ONPOINT. Highly recommend! That broth was so good and the chicken was really delicious. Chicken Katsu Don: The rice was wet and clumped together. The eggs were on top of the katsu so the katsu was overall really soggy. I had thought they would be crispy judging from their photos. Definitely prefer the ramen here more! Eel Sushi: No, just no. The Unilocal check in offer here was free mochi so I of course, had to check in and my friend as well. The waiter, Amy, had asked my friend first which flavor she wanted and she replied«Red bean.» She then asked me which flavor and I said«Green tea.» This led me to believe we were going to get two. The wait for the dessert was LONG. We ended up being presented with one small green tea mochi ice cream cut in half with some chocolate drizzle on it. We called Amy over. She told us the free check in offer was for only one table, as I had thought so in the beginning. So why ask my friend what flavor she wanted in the first place then? I don’t get why it took so long to drizzle the chocolate on the packaged mochi anyways. It was good that it was free, at least. Overall, we love the ramen there but with the slow confusing service and the ripoff sushi, we rather go someplace better. P. S. I didn’t like the fact that the change I got back for my $ 20 was as soggy as their katsu either.

I love this place!, the ramen taste good and the price is fair, I highly recommend the chicken teriyaki ramen! And fried squid! The waiters are nice and if you forget something there, they will hold it for you until you come pick it up.

Service was a little slow, place seemed understaffed. I am a big ramen fan and this place was not bad. It does not taste as authentic as spots like Ippudo but it was flavorful. Their sesame octopus appetizer was surprisingly delicious! Would come back again. Good amount of seating and overall good food and service.

I have to say I feel really sorry for the owner of the restaurant who hired a waitress who is inexperienced and very rude! Here is my short version of the review: the food was okay, ramen was bit salty. The service was terrible! You also get a free mochi ice cream when you check in, and that’s the only reason I gave them two stars instead of one! Here is my long version: I had a terrible dine in experience here today! I came here with my husband to have lunch around 2:30pm, and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy, and I wanted to be seated to a larger table.(I am 8months pregnant btw). So I asked one of the waitresses that if I can switch to another table nicely, and also told her it would be much comfortable for me. Then she told me that the larger table is for more than 2 people,(and I saw there were two people sitting at four ppl seats) and the restaurant was not even busy…(Pic attached) And I told her I’m pregnant and preferred to be seated at different table, she just ignored me and walked away! And then my husband asked another waitress see if we can switch table and we finally be seated at larger table. I guess the rude waitress who I asked was just really mean!!! Not coming back all…

Not sure what others are expecting… but for the price point, convenient location, great service and tasty food, this place hits the spot. We had a complete meal for two, appetizer and drinks for $ 40 plus tip. We had pleasant experience and I hope others will also.

Can somebody please tell me why whenever I go to Ajisen Ramen, this place is empty?! The ramen is pretty decent, I love the calamari *when it’s fresh*, the staffs are friendly, place is nice and quiet, it’s right next to 10 below ice cream!!! I love going here, maybe not cause of the ramen … but cause of the Ozeki Ikezo Peach Jelly Sake –giggles–(THERE“S A BERRYFLAVORINIPPUDO). Wait wait wait, you don’t understand! I am able to finish this peach jelly sake every time i order it! That’s right, I can finish a 5% alcohol drink. :) PS. Look at the pic, which person in their right mind would actually read the label and actually shake the can 20 times?! PPS. funaguchi sake is pretty nasty. It was not fruity!!! False advertisement, I swear! Waste of money. Barely able to take a sip of this drink… too. strong… –tears…-

My sister wanted to come here to eat ramen since I told her I was craving noodles. Upon arrival it took us a while to get seated but that was fine because our food came out super quick. I opted for the Ajisen Deluxe Ramen while my sister opted for the Unagi Don. We had the kani salad for our starter and she ordered a miso soup. We got our food at a speed that was impressive but questionable. But our food was piping hot and delicious so all uneasiness went away. Their tonkotsu soup base was delicious, I loved that it was not salty but flavorful cause other places overdose on sodium but Ajisen does it right. Over the past years since we have stopped coming, the service has stepped up to the maximum. They actually came to check up on us while in the past they had no care. They are also quick to remove plates or answer any questions. I checked in for the free mochi but they accidentally charged me for it(make sure to read your bills!). They apologized and went ahead to fix it. It took about 7 ish minutes to receive my free red bean mochi but it was free so what can I do about it. My sister and I will definitely be returning for noodles and lunch specials as those seem super appetizing.

Best ramen spot I’ve visited always great with food. But they force you to tip can be annoying when you gotta pay extra just because you came with friends. when you should be rewarded. More people/More business.

A solid, delicious ramen place in Chinatown. The egg was a little more cooked than I prefer in ramen, but not to distraction and certainly not fully hard boiled like lesser places do. The pork broth was flavorful and the portions of noodles, pork and toppings were just right. Prices are reasonable and the food came out fast.

I ordered the miso ramen for pickup with added noodles and egg. I thought the ramen tasted good and it was still hot by the time I got it home. I didn’t realize the ramen comes with egg, so I could have done without adding one($ 1). The portions are also quite big, so I probably could have done without the added noodles as well($ 2)-but at least now I have a good amount of leftovers!

Ajisen ramen is definitely an alright noodle fix in Chinatown. I opted for Ajisen since Ochado in LES was reported closed(oh nooo). I don’t think Ajisen could replace Ochado for me, but it is a good substitute. It’s located near Columbus park alongside many other restaurants on the second floor on Mott Street. It has a nice display of fake noodle bowls so you can see what you want before you get it. On Sunday night, it wasn’t particularly busy but this place can fit a good amount of people — I would even argue it is good for a large group, which I can’t really say for a lot of places in downtown because they are so small. Service was really good and quick. We ordered some appetizers — their fried tofu was pretty good, comparable to other fried tofu places and had a good amount. Appetizers are typically under $ 10. The ramen was also good and cheap too! Most were around $ 8. I opted for the veggie ramen, and although I really felt like they could have given me more, it was still delicious. It was in a clear broth which was quite tasty once I added soy sauce and sesame oil(probably just needed some enhancements). There was napa cabbage, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and carrots and noodles. These were like your thinner noodles — but there was quite a bit of it. Not as delicious as some veggie ramens I’ve had(that included tofu, seaweed, egg, etc. that were good for vegetarians), but it was satisfying, as ramen always tends to be.

I came here with my mother a few weeks ago. We’ve had ramen at other Ajisen Ramen locations. This location was not as good. 2 stars instead of 3 because this is in comparison to other locations. This is a convenient location and they have the signature Chinese girl on the bowls and on the signs. I like the cute little Chinese girl logo. It is nice that the servers were friendly and could speak English and Chinese so people of all backgrounds can enjoy ramen here. We ordered the Ajisen Ramen and the Tenderous Ribs Ramen. Although the food came out quick, the soup was not hot and there was not enough of it. The meat for the ramen was cooked well. We liked the meat flavors and it melted in your mouth. The half of egg that came with the ramen was cooked nicely too but could have used more flavor. Service was slow, the employees were young and seemed less experienced because they would forget what we had asked for such as tea and a to-go container until we raised our hand again… If there were more hot soup in the bowl, and better service, this place could have more stars.

Simple ramen shop in the middle of Chinatown’s Mott St. This is a global chain, and this serves about the same food. Servers were all Chinese, insofar as I can tell. The ramen all comes with an egg, normally, as a note. The Ajisen ramen was ok; the miso ramen was better flavor(once you mix in the miso sauce at the bottom in a wad). The fried chicken was more chunks of chicken fried up in a thin breading and served with sweet and spicy sauce(more sweet). Semi-clean bathroom downstairs around a winding stairway. Not a bad option as they were quick enough with service, and more, but I have had better ramen. Simple and in the city, no line(which for any ramen place in NYC seems to be odd — the best always have a line). There were a bunch of people here eating more than one dish, though, some people took the fried katsu and combined with sushi, etc.

So yeah the food is expensive, but aren’t all sushi places lol. The service isn’t so bad, our waiter was fluent in English, mandarin, and Cantonese. Woo. Customer service is good. Too bad they ran out of vanilla mochi :(and the noodles are kind of NOT ramen. But they’re good. Expensive, but good. I’ve been coming here for a while and the food has always been great. The fish has just… a «dirty» taste to it, according to my dad. ORDERTHEDRAGONROLL. ITSSODELICIOUSOMG. A

Came on vacation to NY and a friend who lives in The Bronx brought me here. The service was rather hasty, but I understand that they were short-staffed so I didn’t have a problem with that. The three stars is for the taste and overall quality of the meal. I ordered the regular ajisen ramen and it came out like someone had already gone through it with a spoon… and the egg was odd. The flavor was a bit bland so I added a lot of powder and oil. My friend ordered the spicy ajisen ramen and although that came out looking closer to the description picture, all you could taste was the spice they used on the pork. He had to put a lot of powder and oil himself. Another friend ordered the fried green tea ice-cream and she didn’t even finish half of it bc she said the flavor was strange. I received a complimentary mochi ice-cream and I asked if I could get just regular ice-cream because it was the same price and I have braces, but she declined hastily. The mochi was hard and crumbled rather than being chewy. The green tea ice-cream inside didn’t taste good either. It’s a cute restaurant located in China Town and it has a nice ambiance but that could be to cover up the mediocre tasting food they serve. As a part-Japanese woman, I wasn’t satisfied.

We came here maybe 15 minutes before the kitchen opened, but the owner held the door open for us and turned up the heat. It just started snowing outside, so it wasn’t nice to have to go into a freezing cold restaurant, but we were early so nothing we could do. We had warm tea right away which we graciously accepted. My friends said the ramen is simple but good and hits the spot on a cold day. I had the veggie ramen but replaced the pork bone broth with a clear soup. It was flavorful and I have no complaints about it. They were not skimpy on the veggies! Waters were constantly refilled, ramen bowls were empty, so we left happy and with our bellies full. This place is nothing special, especially if you’ve tried the numerous amount of famous ramen places in NYC. But it is decent, cheap, and hits the spot when you crave ramen. They also have non-Japanese food on the menu, from Singaporean to Taiwanese.
