Good food, fast & friendly service. Came with 2 friends and ordered the soft shell crab, okra sautéed with salted fish, char keow teow with chicken, oyster pancake and their roti canai. For drinks we kept it simple with their rose soda which was delicious as I love rose accents :) and after 2 horlicks and a thick toast with condensed milk. I’d definitely come again and try their other dishes(stir fried pearl noodle) keep in mind it’s downstairs.

Came here with a a big party. Seating accomodations was good. The space is nicely decorated and clean. Service was good too. The food here is great. Some dishes are comparable to Nyonya, but I think I prefer this more. One memorable dish was the house tofu dish. Very silky. I’ll definitely be back to try more, especially since they ran out of the durian dessert by them time we were ready.

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, but I felt like I needed to for this place. My dad was an expat and I grew up in Malaysia, so I have high standards when it comes to authenticity. When I discovered that they had white curry laksa I decided I had to try it because it was my faaavorite dish growing up once i was allowed to eat spicyish food haha… it was better than I remembered! If you haven’t tried it, it’s this delicious coconut milk lemongrass broth, and fresh noodles, and it’s very hard to find, in my experience, let alone this good… i started taking out at least twice a week… the service is great too, it’s family owned and everyone is very nice, modern décor etc… definitely coming back when im in NYC.

Wok wok has become one of my go to restaurants whenever in the Chinatown area. Delicious and affordable. They also have a very extended menu for everyone’s taste buds. Definitely recommended!

What a hidden gem! I’ve been craving laksa ever since I had it at Taste Good Malaysia(in Queens), and I Unilocaled a place that would have it in Manhattan for a dinner with my mom. We always go to Nyonya and I wanted to take her somewhere different, and I’m so glad we did because we’re definitely coming back. The previous Unilocal reviews comparing this to Nyonya basically said that portions were bigger and the food was more authentic. I can’t vouch for authenticity, but I can definitely vouch for their large portions, great service, amazing ambiance, super interesting variety in food and overall tastiness. I highly recommend everything I got. + Thai Iced Tea — You get a free one if you check in! It was reeallyy good and I wish that it were just a tiny bit bigger … but no complaints cus it’s free. :p Definitely going to order a full-size one next time. + Kaya Butter Toast — The picture is pretty unimpressive, but oh my goodness — their creamy homemade kaya(coconut + pandan) jam was phenomenal. I immediately asked if they sold it, and they do! Sadly they had just sold out, but I’m definitely coming back to buy some. + Roti Canai — Like other reviewers have said, their roti canai is huge and on-point. I loved the soft, thin texture of the roti and the mildly spicy curry dipping sauce. Sooo good. Unlike at Nyonya where I usually wish I had ordered another one, this was large enough to satisfy the two of us. + Cantonese-Style Chow Fun — I would’ve totally overlooked this boring-sounding dish, but my mom ordered it in Chinese without looking at the menu because it’s one of her favorite dishes. They executed it perfectly — the egg gravy was smooth and silky, and the seafood(squid, shrimp, etc) was tender and chewy and everything I wanted. I loved the flat broad noodles drenched in the egg gravy, and I kept eating it even though I was super full. + Penang White Curry Laksa — Ooh man I’m so glad I told the waiter«not too spicy» — it’s definitely NOT mild by any means. He told me that I could just scoop the chili sauce out because it’s on top; I scooped almost all of it out and the curry laksa ended up being perfect — any more, and it would’ve been intolerably spicy for me.(It was also really good without any of the spicy sauce — creamy and coconutty). I got the tofu + other veggies instead of the other options, and I loved the variety. I actually ended up taking most of it home though because I was so full at this point. + Chendol Durian — I love durian desserts and I almost never see any on Asian menus, so definitely points for this! It was super interesting; I’ve never had anything with a palm sugar-coconut reduction, and I loved the sweet, refreshing flavor that it imparted to the shaved ice. I was surprised by the green chewy things on the side(not stated on the menu), but I really liked their texture. Overall, it was a great dessert and everything came together perfectly. I actually didn’t see any ice cream so that was a little confusing, but I didn’t miss it. The durian on top was fantastic :) Service was really attentive and great; our waiter was very patient with me as I struggled in my indecisiveness about the white curry laksa and he was very courteous overall. I loved the ambiance, which pretty much cinches why I’d come here again over Nyonya — it’s a lot quieter, way less crowded, trendier and cuter looking(they hand-drew all of the dishes on a board! so pro). I also really like that they sell a bunch of Asian products(sriracha, coconut milk, etc.) on a wall. Excited to come back :)

Been here twice and enjoyed both visits. If you’re looking for an extensive menu in English in Chinatown, this is a good place to consider. Service was good and the restaurant is very cute and clean. Ordered some noodles and the soft shell crab. Checked in for a free Thai iced tea! Would definitely visit again.

My friend and I came to Chinatown today and we decided to eat here. We arrived around 3 which is an off time to eat but it was super full. We ordered a roti Cani, Indonesian mee go reng and she got a shrimp/spicy noodle soup(forgot the real name of the dish). We checked in on Unilocal and got a free mini Thai iced tea. The tea itself was really good! Roti Cani– nothing too special but still good Mee go reng — extremely flavorful and I could taste that the chicken was grilled. Loved the crushed peanuts and for $ 7.75, good portion. Shrimp /spicy noodle soup– she said that the broth was very flavorful and I had a couple of her shrimp. Shrimp wasn’t very crunchy and they were slit in half but they were cleaned well. Prices were very decent. Our meal came out to $ 23 and change. Will be back for more yummy food!

One of my bad experienced after so many visits. I came here for my craving, «beef rendang nasi lemak» but things went wrong. Ordered: Chicken satay Roti canai with chicken curry dip Flat noodle with pork Nasi lemak with beef rendang Guess what. They brought me a wrong order. Instead of beef rendang, they brought me chicken! Gosh, which mean that I was eating 3 chicken dish? I don’t like chicken that much. Told the server after the 1st bite. Told him that I didn’t know it was chicken until I tasted it because it was dark in color(gravy). He apologized but never do anything until my mum said something. The head server said that I already ate my dish so he can’t replace it but I told the server if he wanted it back when I first told him and he said no. As a foodie, I came here for my craving and not settle for second best! At the end, «the head server» brought out a few pieces of beef rendang in a small bowl. Thanks a lot! Overall: 1 star for few pieces of rendang. Tip: don’t come here for rush hour. Service was bad. Portion is generally smaller but the price is the same. Note: tipped extra for few pieces of beef rendang and not for the service.

Prices are cheap. Food is a hit or miss. The two appetizers we got were pretty damn good. The original roti was nice and crispy and the dip was packed with flavor, but not too spicy. The fried buns with condensed milk was also pretty tasty. Buns were smaller than normal, which I liked because I prefer more condensed milk to bread ratio. My entrée, however, was subpar. I ordered the scallop sizzling dish. There wasn’t enough sauce to mix in with all the rice, but the whole thing was kind of blah. With these prices though, I’d come back and try something else.

Wok wok has always been my favorite place to go! Today I came together with my friend and we ordered the infamous Penang white curry laksa, and satay! The food was delicious and came in a timely manner. The customer service here is excellent, our server Vincent is very nice and very well mannered.

#I’m usually more a fan of old dirty Chinatown restaurants, but this place is awesome! It’s clean. The #Penang White Curry Laksa tastes good. Only $ 7.75. Very affordable! #This place has changed my mind. I can like clean Chinatown restaurants!

3 stars for neutral. I’m having mix feelings for this place. The food is decent and good but the service was pretty bad. It seems like it was their first job The waitresses doesn’t know much English and I was ordering in chinese but they still seemed confused. When we asked for a fork they gave us a spoon and when we wanted the hainan chicken to go. They put it in the paper box and by the time we got home all the sauce leaked out of the paper box. The décor was nice tho.

Food isn’t bad. Pros and cons all around. Pros — The food is quite good Cons — I read a lot about service issues on Unilocal and they are justified. I’ve seen the server act like a douche to several customers on the subject of seating. Just bad manners and not very hospitable amor friendly. He was kind to us but he needs a bit of work or face non repeat customers. — I think they need to slim down the menu. There are far too many options. Felt like the Cheesecake Factory with never ending choices.

Definitely worth trying! They have a wide range of dishes from various countries(Singapore, Malaysia, etc). well diversified. They are located on the bottom floor on a walk-down, charming and clean new open seat area. The dishes are a pretty big portion so I would recommend sharing and ordering more if needed. They are very quick with their dishes so it’s not a long wait at all. We had the chilli basil popcorn chicken — that is delicious and I’ll be going back again for more. It’s a little on the salty side, but definitely a great appetizer worth sharing($ 8). I had the Singaporean Mee Hoon noodles with shrimp($ 8). The noodles are vermicelli(super thing and sauteed). The shrimps all usually come with shell on so I would recommend asking for them to take shells off if you like. We ordered one Thai iced tea($ 3 – 4) which was good, the drinks come in cute mason jars with handles. The Malaysian Thai iced coffee doesn’t vary too much from any other Thai iced coffee, still yummy and strong. Staff is pleasant and they have wi-fi :) Enjoy!

I rarely give 1 star reviews(if any) but this place surely has earned it. Ordering time: 7:08 Time we got our food 7:54 3 refills of water, 1 order of meatballs that were frozen later(sent back to kitchen) …I finished my order in 12 minutes when I finally did get it. There were exactly 3 pieces of shrimp in my char Kwai teow. 3. Never again.

I ordered takeout from here so the mee goreng that I had was kind of mushy. Though I’m sure it would have been a different story had I dined in and ate it fresh. It was a pretty huge portion, which I couldn’t even finish. It is pretty spicy so if you’re sensitive to that, you might want to order something else. I felt a little bit nauseous after eating it but I thought it might have been something I had eaten earlier. But when I ate the leftovers, I started feeling the same way again. I don’t think it was spoiled though. I think it might have just been a little too oily for my stomach. Another thing is, they have a lot of menu options. That’s not always necessarily a good thing. Yes, it’s nice to have a variety, but this was a little too much. It’s hard to decide what you want. They could probably stand to get rid of some menu items, find out what their best dishes are, and just fine tune those. I really want to like this place, so I’m willing to give it another try. I’ll probably stay away from the mee goreng next time though!

Honestly in love with Wok Wok! My mom and I have been here twice in one week — the food is delicious and the people super friendly. We first learned about Wok Wok through a friend, who told us they order take out from there all the time. I had no idea that the Lobster House that used to be in the Wok Wok space even closed… let alone a new South Asian restaurant opening up! We’ve had a variety of items here and I have no complaints about any of them: — Kaya Butter Toast(One of the only places in NYC that make it in-house and the right way) — Roti Canai(Huge portion that beats Nyonya and New Malaysia) — Thai Lettuce Wrap(one of our favorites: super flavorful and a great appetizer) — Squid with Water Spinach(spicy peanut sauce + squid is divine. Large portion for what you pay) — Chicken Satay(pretty good, but not my favorite appetizer on the large menu!) — Curry Chicken + Potato Rice Bowl(large portion and great curry) — Hainanese Chicken Rice Bowl(A lot of chicken — much more than Nyonya and New Malaysia) The Malaysian Milk Tea and Coffee are also done right. Just the right amount of sweetness and tea and/or coffee. I highly recommend this place! The prices are right and the food is delicious — and authentic.

Neat, new and clean southeast Asian restaurant. A combination of foods ranging from Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese Cantonese and Singapore style. Reminds me of the recently closed Sanur restaurant nearby, but a lot cleaner. A long list of options I can’t wait to try from their fairly extensive menu. So far the Roti Canai was very good. The crispy bread is nice and thin and soaks up well when dipped into curry sauce. The curry chicken and potato is simple but delicious. Strong curry flavor and not watered down in anyway. I found many solid pieces of spices in the sauce. The AC is a bit strong so it’ll be best not to sit by the bench if you get cold easily. The service was nice and friendly but a bit slower than your average Chinatown. I think it’s probably just a new restaurant finding its groove and rhythm in how the work will flow in and out of the kitchen. Not a terrible thing, but something to note if you’re in a rush.
