I enjoyed the food here(kale & quinoa salad with shrimp was really good as was the guacamole) however the service was quite slow the entire time. They were pretty busy as it was lunchtime though. Was kind of bummed as I ended up forgetting my leftovers since they took the food away before they brought the bill and by the time I paid, failed to bring me my leftovers. Service was friendly though. I’d come back but maybe during a less busy time.

So this whole meal was a bit of a mixed bag. We were greeted warmly and told it would be a 15 – 20 minute wait for a table. 1 second later host realized there was a totally empty table right in front of him and said we could sit there. Sweet. The waiter came over and warmly greeted us, we asked for water and margaritas. Then we waited, and waited some more. After a few more strange encounters with different staff who said they couldn’t help us, it was literally 30 minutes before we got drinks and had our orders taken. It seemed like the server was having billing issues with another table which is understandable but 30 minutes to get a glass of water and order a taco is kind of pathetic. Our main course arrived another 15 minutes later. We had ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer but it never arrived so we kindly asked to have it taken it off the order. My main dish was the BBQ Rice Bowl without cheese. It was actually really tasty. I also had a Blackened Fish Taco which was delicious and the Avocado Shroom taco which was disgusting. Just something about the flavor of the mushrooms was totally unappetizing. But over all everyone was happy with their food. The happy bonus was that we arrived during $ 5 margarita happy hour. The drinks were strong and tasty and made the long wait a bit more bearable. Although we did have to wait 30 minutes for the drinks. When we were done it took another 15 minutes to pay the bill. It just kind of seemed like no one was moving very quickly and they didn’t have the usual hustle that wait staff should have.

Been three times now for mid-day lunch. So far everything I’ve had is great and well priced. I’ve had 3 different types of tacos, the nachos, chips & quac, and the kale & quinoa salad… all great! The bartender I’ve had twice is awesome and the blackberry Margherita is so good! Highly recommend.

My partner and I wrapped a wedding prep meeting with a local photographer on the evening of May 26 at 745 pm. We mentioned we would recon for a local dinner spot. The Photog recommended Mexicue. And are we glad she did! The place was packed, but the friendly staff seated us quickly. Every dish from appetizers to entrée, Nachos, Tacos and Burritos was a party to the palate.!! Incredible creatively prepared cuisines all with fresh ingredients. I defy you will be unable to land better Mexican cuisine in NYC other than possibly California, Arizona or Mexico. And the Mixologist concocting the house margaritas should be nominated for knighthood or other humanitarian awards. Mexicue is tops on our fave list… that said… we are returning yet again. You owe it to yourself(and your palate) to check this place out. Your wallet and palate will thank you…;-) VIVAMEXICUE !!!

5 stars! Why? Well. For starters they have this $ 5 happy hour I always stop in for. Their nachos are delicious & their margaritas are soooo good! The staff are also great with their own unique personality which works perfect for this trendy Mexican restaurant. I’ll be back!

Could not keep up with the cinco de mayo demand. Before we ordered we asked how long the wait would be if we ordered food to go. The expeditor said 10 – 15 minutes. In actuality the wait was almost an hour. They should have comped the lunch. And on top of that the food isn’t good. It was mushy and not much for $ 16 lunch. Update: The restaurant was able to comp my meal and in return they said a gift card would be mailed. Added 2 stars for customer service and effort to give this place another shot. :)

I went there with a colleague for lunch. Decent food and ok selection of drinks. This is place is casual for a quick or happy hour. No dinner or dating spot.

After many times of walking passed this place on Thursday/Friday after work, it was always a packed house and at times people waiting outside to score a chair/table, finally paid it a visit. A few friends and I decided to give this place a go on a Saturday evening, before heading home to relax after a full day of walking and showing my out of town friends around the city. We took advantage of the happy hour drinks specials, except for me, I decided to have a Michelada, which was not part of the happy hour deal, but I was happy with my choice. As we waited on our meals, we had guac and chips, which surprisingly enough was pretty good and the chips were nice and crispy, fresh tasting without the grease residue. We all ordered different types of tacos, and although the soft shell tacos were very tasty, it wasn’t fulfilling so we all ended up ordering another one to fulfill that hunger lol. It would be nice if they had an order of two/three for the tacos because when you’re hungry one just won’t cut it. Overall it was good, the drinks were on point and the place was not overly crowded which was optimal for us.

Always walked by this place that’s usually packed and finally time to go. Both times I came, the place was(almost) packed. I’ve seen people wait, but luckily I never had to. First time I came here my friend and I sat at the bar. I think I prefer that because the alcohol is laid out nicely on the wall, and after 8 or 9 they turn on the changing lights. I started with the smoky margarita since I wanted something with mezcal. It didn’t disappoint and I’d recommend if you want a little kick in your drink. I got the Mexican jambalaya and it was delicious. Very flavorful and I was so satisfied at the end. Second time I ordered to-go and got the green chili mac and cheese with shrimp and brisket. It was so heavy but so good. The portion was also huge as I couldn’t finish it. I would come back again!

Came here during my lunch break the other day with my friends and I would definitely like to come back. I got the bbq rice salad and it was amazing. I ate the entire thing. The queso and guac were great too and they had a good beer Selection. I regret coming here for lunch because I feel like it’s more of a dinner place, but overall I thought it was pretty good. Only downside is I think the place is really crammed and the bathroom door was literally a centimeter away from our table(no exaggeration). I wasn’t really feeling the vibe because it was super loud and hectic, our waiter kind of had an attitude, and the service wasn’t that great. But, other than that the food is fantastic. Would definitely come back here but only if I’m in midtown for dinner. Wouldn’t go out of my way for this place, but if you love Mexican food and good beer then I highly recommend it!

This place is really good for drinks and appetizers but their food is mediocre. They have a good happy hour from 3 to 6 every single day and their drink menu is extremely unique and really good. I had there bean and cheese burrito and it was mediocre at best. I also had their guacamole and chips which was also average. It’s more of a hang out spot then fine dining.

Been wanting to try out Mexicue for a few years now since it went from streetcart to a restaurant. Finally went on a whim for Happy Hour after work with a friend. The margarita was very weak it could use a touch of tequila. The house nachos was very good and different from others I’ve tasted before. The jambalaya burrito was alright very sweet. The place was packed by 7pm but it was tough to move around since the space was tight. This place was a good try but I’d stick to the street cart version as everything tastes better.

Mixed reviews here. Odd observation. The smell of the mixture of cuisines is not that appealing as you enter. The menu is varied and the salad I got was really good and filled with veggies and multiple ingredients which I love. The sloppy joe was great too. they were out of several things which kind of sucks anywhere you go. The seating situation is a little awful. On top of one another and small. It should be more of a order at the counter type of place rather than full sit down and then I’d go again.

So bomb. Great place to sit down with friends and eat a hearty meal or have a few margeritas. The ambiance is very chill and the lighting is dim. It’s like a chipotle but 10x better lol. A lot more options than your typical burrito or taco. They have enchiladas, jamburittos, chili, mac and cheese, etc. I ordered the blackened fish bowl and the fish tasted really good. Literally just melts in your mouth. It came with rice, rojo(spicy) pico de gallo, and dressed with a creamy chipotle sauce. Absolute deliciousness. There is also a good variety of alcoholic drinks/beer. I was pretty impressed. I’d give this place a thumbs up. That said, I want to come back to try the green chili mac & cheese.

Really gross flavor. The corn tortilla was hard and not fresh. The meat is tough and dry. The fish was bad and the mushroom taco tasted like dirty water. It’s loud and uncomfortable inside. Wow definitely won’t come back

Nearby Bryant Park? In the mood for Mexican BBQ for a decent price? You’ve come to the right place. A friend and I stopped by before heading over to ice skate and had a bit of chips with hot salsa and tacos. We ordered smoky carnitas, shrimp, and chicken tacos. But hands down, the carnitas taco was one of the best tacos I have ever eaten in my life. With the soft corn tortilla, and just jam packed with amazingness(corn, amazing carnitas, crunch tortilla strips, etc). I will definitely remember Mexicue and come back for just that taco because it’s so good. They have some pretty decent happy hour(4−6pm) deals like $ 2 tacos at the bar and drinks below $ 10. Their selection of drinks is quite vast as well so you’ll definitely find something you like there. It’s important to note that the restaurant itself is pretty small but I came at around 3 so it was pretty open but I’m sure it isn’t regularly. They do have a pickup option as well if you’re around when it’s warmer and you wanna pick up tacos, burritos, or bowls before wandering over to Bryant Park.

Awesome lunch spot in midtown right near Bryant Park. I came here on a Wednesday at noon and I was surprised to see it was relatively empty. By the time by friend arrived at 12:15, the place was packed and I was really glad I got there early(they don’t take reservations). They pack the tables pretty tightly together so it’s not a luxurious dining atmosphere, but I really liked the food so I’ll definitely be back. This is a good spot to go if you’re not looking for casual food like Panera or Chipotle or grab-and-go food but also don’t want to sit down to a fancy lunch at one of Midtowns many fine dining establishments. I ordered the kale and quinoa salad and added pulled pork on top. It was great-very hearty and tasty. It included kale, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts so I felt like it was still relatively healthy.

I like Mexicue. I have had several items on their menu and can tell you with confidence the food is pretty good. Dining in or ordering out is usually pretty swift and most of the people who work there are really nice and friendly. My all time favorite is the fish sandwich, served on a soft brioche(I think) bun with avocodo and your choice of a salad or chips. Having had the salad before, I would say skip it because the dressing is gross. I know, that’s my opinion but a citrus dressing is usually always not that tasty. If they only had olive oil and salt, then yes, but I’m not a fan of the dressing, it was really overpowering. The chips…*gives far away look* the chips on the other hand are out of this world. They are fresh and made daily and good and oily and yes. If you don’t like the fish sandwich, maybe the queso dip with chips? Yes, I said the c word again. This is a good dish to share and you can get more chips for like a buck or something. So worth it. The tacos are really good as well, but once again, go for the sandwiches. When I came here on my birthday(Cinco de Mayo), they didn’t have happy hour, which made absolutely no sense, but now they do. Dine in only, sadly, so no drinking in the park nearby. What I do not recommend are the burritos. At least the veggie one. It was like a thick tortilla rolled up with a ton of rice and a bland, tasteless sauce. One Saturday visit this was ordered upon recommendation of the server and I was not impressed. I took 2 bites and asked to change my order or have it removed. The server said that they don’t do that and so I sat and looked sad. and hungry. We ordered more chips for our queso dip and then he changed his mind and took the burrito off the bill, like any real restaurant would. It was really weird, like I go to restaurants and bite into nasty burritos for free. Anyway, the bathroom is so lovely and like I said, most of the people who work there are too. A good option in the fashion district.

Got the smoked chicken burrito again since I loved it so much last time– but this time got it to-go. Pretty quick and got to sit at the bar area while I waited. The burrito was way spicier than I remember(maybe I’m a wimp) but my sister didn’t think so since she put a lot of sour cream on(so beware if not a fan of a little kick!). Second time so far got lost due to the wrong address– it’s on 40th!(Not 42nd!). Address needs to be updated Asap!

$ 10+ for the Jamburrito? Way too overpriced. Nothing really special about the flavors. Mostly just tasted lettuce and the tortilla. You can get 2x more at chipotle or Moe’s…and definitely better quality at Chipotle.
