I got the salad with spaghetti squash from the Urbanspace location and it was just okay, nothing special for $ 11. I was really excited by the idea of spaghetti squash in place of meat at a place serving BBQ food and expected the spaghetti squash to be flavored more like the meats(I’m not a vegetarian, just a healthy eater). The spaghetti squash was kinda bland and didn’t add much. The slaw was very good and the rest of the salad was fresh and crunchy but nothing to write home about. Also, there were a few rogue ice cubes in my salad — not sure how those made it in there and really no harm done, but just FYI. I’m giving this four stars because I think I just clearly ordered the wrong thing. This is not a place known for salads, so you’ll probably want to go with literally anything else on the menu — it all sounds delectable! If you’re trying to go healthy, just go somewhere else.

Avoid this place like the plague. After eating here I was up all night violently ill.

I liked my pulled chicken salad with greens and bell pepper and the cucumber vinaigrette sauce was also light and refreshing. Besides salad, they also serve great sandwiches at a fair price. If you are a carnivore, make sure to order their platter, looks huge in portion! Since it is located inside the food court in Urbanspace at Vanderbilt, do expect some waiting time. But they will call your number once food is ready.

I spotted this place on my way to work and recognized it from Urbanspace at Grand Central, so wanted to try it. I asked the server what was most popular(The Dragon) and went with that. It sounded amazing, pulled pork with slaw! I chose to go with a half sandwich, which was actually still a great size and was a single bread roll with the filling inside. Service was really quick and I was on my way. I saved it to eat at home and it was still hot and tasted great! The meat was juicy and tender and the slaw went with it perfectly. The half size was sufficient for me for lunch. I did feel like I was eating more of a burger than a sandwich, with it being warm and having so much filing. It was more indulgent than I would consider a typical sandwich to be. It isn’t really a grab a sandwich on your lunch break at the office kind of option I felt, it is more substantial and ‘takeaway food’ option.

I have tried the Pulled Pork Doughnut from Mayhem & Stout. In this unique collaboration between two vendors, Mayhem & Stout and Dough have really outdone themselves with the savory and sweet Pulled Pork Doughnut. Mayhem & Stout, an artisan sandwich company that specializes in slow-braised sandwiches, provides tender, juicy pulled pork with house-made BBQ sauce and maple brown sugar hot sauce, while Dough, one of NYC’s favorite doughnut shop with innovative flavors inspired by European and Latin American desserts, adds sweetness to the dish with its fluffy, pillowy glaze doughnut with pure vanilla extract and a touch of salt.

I have lunch in Mayhem & stout every few weeks and everytime I have a great meal. they have a simple and delicious menu of your choice of braised chicken, short rib, pulled pork and veggies. thier sauces are excellent, I recommend their horseradish crème sauce. the mac and cheese is okay and also serve a decent chili. I like there prefixed sandwiches, many options and my new recent is their short rib cheesesteak, so simple but major taste points. It’s a nice small place and you will never have a bad sandwich in Mayhem & Stout.

After seeing these guys at countless pop up food festivals(Madison Square Eats, Broadway Bites, etc.), how fortunate we were to have them open up their only permanent storefront literally right across the street from us! As much as you may want to customize, your best bet is to stick with their pre-arranged signature options. My favorites are the Banh Mi(braised pulled pork or chicken w /spicy aioli, vinegar slaw, fried shallots & cilantro) sandwich, and the buffalo mac & cheese side! If you’re indecisive, you’re better off getting two half sandwiches over a full one. You’ll pay an extra buck or two overall… not only can you pick out two varieties, but you’ll actually end up with something more substantial in size/filling than a full sandwich.

I got my sandwich from the Urban Spaces Vanderbilt location. There aren’t any Unilocal listings for that spot so I’m writing it here. There’s always a long line for these guys and the description«slowly braised sandwiches» is so damn attractive so I finally caved and ordered the Old Timer which is the short rib/brisket with horseradish and onion confit. I must say, I was a bit disappointed. The meat was cooked well but the flavor was a bit salty and the toppings were all on one side of the sandwich so the taste was different every time. I know, I know. I could have just opened up the sandwich and evened out the topping but I shouldn’t have to. This is all I had and I doubt I’ll end up going back, especially for a price point of $ 11.

I love this place. It is fast with lots of food. Perhaps not the healthiest option around but what can one expect. Recommend the braised cheesesteak

Opened up at UrbanSpace(the new food court nearby Grand Central) recently and features a variety of meat sandwiches and rice bowls — they have a decent beer selection too. The service is decent during lunch rush hour(considering it’s UrbanSpace), it was about a 15 minute wait to order and pick up. My recommendation to everyone is to skip the short rib and brisket rice bowl, underwhelming in flavor is its biggest flaw. The short rib and brisket, though nicely shredded and soft, has essentially no taste. Top that off with thin, unpickly carrot strips, bland peppers, a few measly shreds of scallion, and boring brown rice — you have a $ 12 rice bowl! Disappointing…but will come back to try the beer!

Ended up having to stay late in the office tonight and desperately needed a pick-me-up dinner. So after browsing on Seamless for a nice comforting dinner, I chose Mayhem and Stout. It’s estimated delivery time was 15 – 30 minutes which is a must when I order(who wants to sit around for an hour waiting for food?). Place the order for a full pulled pork sandwich with onion confit and blueberry sriracha and some sides. After an hour of waiting(What? Not15−30 minutes?!), I decide to call the restaurant and ask for the status of my delivery. I was told that the delivery guy came but couldn’t reach me because I left no number. Um. What? I placed my order directly on Seamless but they inserted an extra 1 in front of the 1212 area code, so it read 11212-. So the number was here but in a non traditional format. I re-give the person my number and wait for him to contact the delivery guy and call me back. Aside from the fact that I think it’s silly he couldn’t find the number, if the guy comes back from his delivery and still has the order, shouldn’t you as the restaurant) reach out to the customer(or Seamless) to let them know what happened? What would’ve happened if I didn’t call? After another wait, I get an angry call from the delivery guy(who clearly did not speak English fluently) saying that I put the number wrong. I go down to pick it up and he glares at me without saying anything. I approach him and asked him if he was from Mayhem and Stout and he immediately started blaming me about the number. Without knowing what else to say, I said ‘Okay’ and took my food. As I leave, I hear him muttering angrily and shooting me dirty looks as I walk away. The food was okay, big hearty portion. Pulled pork was juicy and blueberry sriracha sauce was okay(didn’t really taste like blueberry at all, it was like a dark blue sweeter version of sriracha). Sides were a miss for me(pickled veggies and spicy slaw). TLDR: food was okay but my overall negative experience was enough to make me not order from here again. What if I get the same angry delivery guy again?

Absolutely loved it from the sandwich I had with the braised short ribs & brisket with horseradish and onion confit. I ended up going back to try one of the brown rice bowls and was more than satisfied. I had the short rib and brisket and it comes with pickled carrots and cucumber salad. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes something different and doesn’t want the same old stuff to eat. By the way the mac & cheese is awesome. P. S. get the Dragon Sauce.

Saw this place on Caviar and from the pictures, I had to give it a try. And I’m so glad I did. The pulled pork, blueberry sriracha, and spicy slaw went together perfectly. I’ve only scratched the surface and this place is definitely going to become my go-to lunch break joint. A decent price for a decently sized sandwich that beats the factory style of sandwiches from Subway.

When I placed my order for lunch, the estimated delivery time was 40 – 60 minutes, but I think it arrived in closer to 20! In my opinion, that’s the best way to make a good first impression on a hangry customer. Aside from the prompt delivery, the food itself exceeded my expectations. I ordered the signature pork and kale sandwich, which was a nice size for the price($ 9.75). I ate half of it for a late lunch and the other half for dinner. I loved the use of kale to offset the heaviness of the meat, and the black cherry mustard had a delicious tang and really tied it all together. I also ordered a salad, which I’m usually hesitant to do when a sandwich shop is involved. But sometimes you just don’t want bread, y’know? Often, the«salads» are a couple of lettuce leaves and a few pieces of meat. But this salad came in a large container with a nice assortment of veggies and braised chicken. I’ll have to check out the storefront, which seems to have a few more items than the takeout menu. As a chocoholic, it’d be great to see a few cookies available to satisfy my afternoon sweet tooth. But overall, I’m glad I came across this place! Thank you Mayhem + Stout for a tasty lunch at a great value!

I like the originality of this menu and that you can pick v your own sandwich ingredients. I just love the Buffalo Chicken Mac’nCheese and the lamb salad is great. The sandwiches are good though can be dry without sauce. They also keep limited daily stock so some things can run out by dinnertime. The place itself is tiny and better for takeout.

Yet another trip to eat in my favorite bbq sandwich joint, this time I got my usual Dragon Sauce Pulled Pork half sandwich and decided to get experimental and also order the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. I got home and sunk my fork deep into the succulent dish and put the bite in my mouth and my eyes rolled back in my head and I saw God. I’ve never actually been a mac and cheese fan –tried it here and there trying to get what all the fuss was about, but THIS has made me a mac and cheese believer. Words cannot do justice. And the sandwich was as fabulous as ever too. I feel good about life when I eat here.

This place catered lunch at our office today– salad greens, shredded chicken, shredded beef, mac and cheese, and brown rice, cucumber salad and pickled carrots. It’s really hard to eat clean from catered food,(at least based on what my office typically has catered,) so I was grateful to be able to put together something high protein, with lots of veggies, and not a ton of white carbs. It was sort of bland, but maybe there were sauces that just didn’t make it? Either way, four stars for high-quality, healthy, simple food.

this place was just OK. I came here with friends for dinner. First off, this place is tiiiiny and with no AC. As someone who loves heat, it was even too much for me. I must admit I was intrigued by this place — with sauces like blueberry sriracha and blue cheese aioli I was curious to see how these sandwiches would turn out. Unfortunately not so well — I got the«popular» sandwich which consisted of: braised pulled chicken, buffalo vin, blue cheese aioli and i subbed the pickled onions for roasted kale. The chicken was good — very tasty… but that’s about it. They were STINGY with the sauces, I barely tasted it on the sandwich and the«roasted» kale? try«regular» kale. there wasn’t any krispiness or anything to that. I also got the short-rib mac & cheese… which was aiiight but not overly memorable. The people there were friendly, but they messed up on 2 of the 5 orders we put in — and there wasn’t anyone else there. Overall, I think there are better places worth schlepping to in that area…

MEATERY! their menu is based around pork, short rib&brisket, chicken, & lamb. which you can put into a sandwich, salad, or rice bowl! i opted for the half sandwich which is served on a roll rather than the full size sandwich which is served on a hero… you can CUSTOMIZE your sandwich w/add-ons and sauces but i went with the recommended combos! –short rib & brisket w/onion confit and horseradish crème: TASTY short rib & brisket! a bit overloaded with crème but not bad! –short rib & brisket w/blueberry sriracha and pickled onions: wasn’t really able to taste the blueberry sriracha but again short rib & brisket was good! –basic side salad: def packs a lot of veggies for just $ 3.50! interesting mix of coleslaw & pickled veggies over mixed greens –Mac n cheese: nothin to write home about SELFSERVE water at the front there are only 2 tables & counter standing room if you’re lucky! NOTE: i’ve been here twice and both times they didn’t have lamb available. maybe its only available later in the day because it takes longer to cook… i’ll have to come back Thanks to the PayPal app for the freebie!
