A pretty wide assortment of food items, with blackboard specials in addition to the printed menu. The burritos are and OK, but just OK. The service is pretty quick. Being located so close to Dos Toros, they have some tough competition. It’s not bad, just mediocre.

Great value and authentic food and atmosphere separate it from other Mexican places in the area.

You know yes I agree, Dos Toros had better tacos but Dos Toros also has im my mind some of the best tacos in the city. While this place is no Dos Toros, it’s perfectly fine Mexican food option in the neighborhood. Tacos are $ 3 and quite large in portion. I find it strange that they put shredded lettuce on them as that seems more American style. Would prefer just as is with maybe some onions and cilantro and. Nice and simple. And their tacos are definitely simple.

Very nice place great food great service and a beautiful atmosphere. I tried the chicken flautas and a carne Asada taco. Both were very good and it came to be a reasonable price. The taco had a great texture and was not too soft. The flautas were very nice but the meat was a tiny bit dry. The consistency of the beans was a little too wet and could have been firmer. Over all very nice experience and would love to come back again

Head south from 14th Street from Union Square and you’ll find dozens of restaurants, bars, speakeasies, ice cream shops, food stands serving unique dishes at great price points. Head north and you’ll find something like La Paloma — Mexican food worthy of a Ohio strip mall. That’s a disservice to the ambiance and flair that your average suburban Mexican place deploys. La Paloma has faux-wood panelling and a griminess that will remind you of the Koch administration. Definitely try to avert your eyes as you order, as a rather grungy kitchen is right behind the counter. Better not to look. The portions(and caloric content) are incredible. Get ready for several ounces of sour cream, cheese in block-size quantities and epic-sized combo meals. Don’t wait for anything resembling flavor to be packed into these carbohydrate and protein delivery vehicles — that will be totally the domain of whatever hot sauce you choose to acquire. The staff seem nice enough, but they are putting out a product that is pretty much the definition of what people are taking about when they level the false acquisition that«New York has no good Mexican food.» It does, just not here.

Found several pieces of chicken in my vegetarian dish and did not care for their red-dyed tortilla chips

I’m giving this three stars for the orders that I have put in in the past for my team and I, which have always been delivered without any trouble, and have come out the way we ordered them. However, today when my team was out of the office I attempted to order just a quesadilla grande, and when I realized that my order didn’t meet the minimum, I added sour cream and guac — assuming, of course, that it would be served on the side. What showed up instead looked like soup — I actually had to eat it with a spoon.

Debatably one of the worst restaurants in the area. I ordered a spinach burrito, and in my first bite I had a piece of chicken. I asked them to make me a new one, as I don’t eat meat. They didn’t apologize and demanded that I tear apart the burrito to see if there was more chicken. Since that was the only piece, they refused to make me a new one. I ate my destroyed burrito, and it was terrible regardless of lack of form. Needless to say, never going back here.

My review is of the super loaded Carne Asada taco! The taste and spice of the red hot peppers come through, not overpowering, good balance of enough heat with great flavor! Will definetly come back again!

I eat here a couple times a week because for under then bucks you can get a reasonably healthy and tasty meal quickly. Here’s my favorite order: Ask them to add spinach and jalapenos to the Maria Burrito, which consists of steamed chicken, rice, beans, sour cream, guac. They throw a bit of lettuce and tomato and the side, and I am more than happy that for under a ten dollar bill I’m hitting every food group and it is completely yummy. Also good are the authentic style tacos and I like the strong burrito, which is a spinach and shrimp burrito. The ingredients they use are of relatively good quality, although the guacamole is not great. Also, check the soda fridge for home made horchata(a sweetened milk-based drink) and they also have some kind of tea they make, which I prefer between the two. And they make flan from scratch.

I feel so sad for the purveyors of this place when I occasionally pop in for to-go on my way home from work. There’s never anyone here, but they make some decent food. I mean, would they be out of business if Dos Toros set up shop next door? Sure. But they’re next to J East, a fetid rat’s nest serving gruel. The staff are nice here, and you always feel good about knowing that your patronage has delayed their near certain demise by a day or two. I look forward to walking by in a couple years thinking, «Oh, yeah, I used to like it here before it was a Starbucks.»

This is a take-out and delivery place with a few seating for about 20 people. It’s not a restaurant or type of place you take a date. I’ve been going here for a few years and feel that it’s good quality for the money. For about $ 7 – 10 you can have a descent, authentic mexican meal and be on your way. It’s definitely not a customer-service experience, but if you have 20 minutes and need a rest to get on with your day, for the money this works for me.

La Paloma stands as a lunch option under $ 10 in Gramacy Park area. Unlike most of the restaurants that offer smaller portions for special lunch price entrée, La Paloma’s standard menu offers should get you full for the same price. They have a small sitting area to dine in, in the back is the cashier who also takes the phone orders and the kitchen. You can tell that the kitchen is a well oiled machine, churning out orders after orders. My rumbling stomach asked my brain to order a chicken asada burrito. It looked so promising but sadly, it did no deliver. It was just an «OK». Also, their hot sauce turned out to be more like salsa fresca which tastes great with the food but the condiment was not spicy at all. I will need to give La Paloma another try.

This is a great neighborhood Mexican joint. It’s cheap and delicious. My favorite is the nachos, the chips stay crunchy somehow. Magic I tell you. The tacos and burritos are great as well, couldn’t really ask for more.

Popped in for a quick lunch on my break. Service was friendly and my order came up quickly. I had the chicken asada burrito, which was very tasty and enormous. I couldn’t finish the whole thing, but that’s only because I had to force myself to stop. Not a mind-blowing burrito experience, but it was certainly very satisfying, especially for the area. Will definitely be back.

This place is amazing. Great food that’s very much worth the bang for your buck, especially in an upscale neighborhood like Gramercy Park. The Chicken Chipotle Asada Burrito(7 bucks!) is mm, mm good! — just don’t expect to eat it with your hands. They pour a tangy sauce over the burrito that’s supposed to be spicy, but isn’t very. Nevertheless, you’ll see stars when you dig in. Tender shreds of chicken, melted cheese, rice, and beans in a hot flour tortilla, served with a side of pico de gallo… I’m drooling even now. The portions are pretty big, but trust me when I say you’ll want to finish every bite. You’re gonna leave feeling stuffed, but not hating yourself. Success in my book!

They got my order wrong and refused to send me what I actually ordered. Unacceptable. Please think twice before you order from this place because it can happen to you too. When you are snuggled up on the couch watching a movie and it is late and you are hungry, looking forward to the food that you carefully picked out that evening, the last thing you want is to get something different, something you don’t like, then call the restaurant, only to have them tell you with an attitude that the description is incorrect on the website — too bad — so if you want what you actually thought you were ordering, you’re going to have to pay extra. And then you tell them that you’re going to give them a bad review and not order from them again, and they don’t care about that. This is not a way to run a business — I refuse to order from a place that cares that little about its customers.

Legitimate looking Mexican joint. Ordered the strong burrito thinking it was strong with hotness as the first listed ingredient is habanero and I didn’t really care what the others were. If its hot, and its on the special board, there is a very high probability that i will be ordering it. Strong Burrito: To fluffy, not enough rice/meat/beans and it had zero heat. Lots of spinach and sour cream. I don’t like biting into a burrito and feeling like I just bit into air. I want to bite into something of substance. I came to realized that it is only the tortilla that is listed as habanero flavored and its name(STRONG) comes from the large quantity of spinach inside. Salvatore C. said they should start calling it the Popeye burrito to avoid confusion. I’ll give them another try as there pork tacos were pretty decent. To be continued…

Decent Americanized Mexican food. For around $ 8, you can get two chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The staff seems like they don’t care about their jobs, but the place is relatively clean, service is quick, and there’s free water. There’s only one bottle of hot sauce for the entire restaurant though.
