Tried Jacks this past weekend during the Memorial Weekend. I love the city during holidays because it is never crowded and parking is super easy. Visiting this past weekend was the perfect opportunity to try this place out because it was not crowded. The space is small, yet super charming, cool, iniviting and just chill. We were a party of 6(4 adults and 2 kids). The service was amazing and the food even MOREAMAZING!!! The server was training therefore the owner himself, Anthony, assisted us with our order. He was patient, respectful, down to earth and just too damn cool! He recommended dishes and drinks and boy was everything just delightful! We had wings– perfectly cooked, not breaded, deep fried, good size and great seasoning Dumplings-not your usual dumplings-boy were they tasty! Lobster curry roll-AMAZING and huge Spicy Salmon roll-YUM SLIDERS-chicken teriyaki And the famous Jacks Sliders were to die for! Perfectly cooked burgers with seasoned caramelized onions and bacon? Just can’t go wrong! We had ramen noodles, miso soup and just about the BESTDARNFRIES I HAVEEVERHAD! I cannot properly describe just how amazing the fries were! Not too greasy, thin, crispy, seasoned oh so brilliantly and just mouth watering. The entire table scarfed them down and the portion was generous. We also had sweet potato fries that were just as thin and crispy and sweet as can be. Saki– to DIE for! Smooth and chilled-had kind of a ‘sophisticated’ taste(I am not a big SAKI person but we thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoy a nice refreshing beer with, well, anything, really, LOL but I have to admit that Jack’s served me the most delicious and unique beer my mouth has ever had the pleasure of tasting-Crabbies GINGERBEER– see the pic. It really was to die for, perfect summer ALE, with a slice of lemon? It just really hit the spot and I honestly cannot wait to have another! Well, there you go-probably the longest review Ive written on Unilocal thus far and well worth it and well deserved! We will be back in a few weeks-as they also have an adorable and private garden area in the back that we have decided to use to host a private affair. Thank you to Anthony and staff for such great service, awesome food and great company! See you soon!

Meh. Walked by this place for years, a little confused as to why I would want sliders and sushi in the same meal. Finally went in to try it, and yeah — meh. They brought french fries first, then the sliders(the chicken slider has a bad habit of sliding out of the bun), and then, after we were full of bread and potatoes, came the sushi. Lots of carbs. It was decent, not bad, but we didn’t feel like we had to go back.

We ordered sliders from Jack´s for 50 people at a business-lunch in Midtown. We tried all different kinds of the sliders(144 pieces in all) + two trays with green salads and all tasted great. The food came in time and Anthony was very helpful before the event to answer all my questions and reassure me that it would be enough food and that they would deliver in time. Most people had two sliders and it was more than enough food. The service was great and I would like to recommend this place if you need a quick and easy to eat lunch.

I really wanted to love this place. I loved the concept of American meets Japanese. The interior is dimly lit with fairy lights lining the windows. The lights make for an intimate, romantic atmosphere. Gyoza were great. They were rolled like a crêpe instead of pinched together like regular gyoza. Very crispy. The tofu slider was pretty bland. I would’ve preferred a thinner tofu«patty,» so that the tofu didn’t overwhelm the entire thing.

This place is okay. I ordered it from the Über Eats selection of restaurants and was somewhat disappointed. It arrived over an hour later. It was barely warm. I got the salmon slider combo order. The old bay fries just tasted like plain fries. There was not much spice on them at all. The salmon was MAYBE3 ounces. With a little spicy mayo on it. It was nothing special. Seems like for a simple meal they could have done a little bit more to make it exciting. Prices are pretty high for what you’re getting. I don’t know if I would order it again.

I’m really confused about what to say about this place. As confused as their name is. Sliders and Sushi? I don’t know that I would have ever walked in here on my own. It was convenient at the time because it was around the corner from my friend’s apartment. The price point is ok and the portions are decent. Specialty rolls run about $ 13. We didn’t try their sliders, but got some of the rolls. And the rock shrimp. The concept is kind of like«don’t worry if they are scared of sushi, you can bring your friends who only like deep-fried-and-breaded stuff… oh, and they can get burgers too» sort of vibe. We came in a bit late and the staff definitely rushed us out of the door. Overall I think the concept is an attempt to be very«fusion» but I don’t think I’ll necessarily be back for the specialty rolls. Maybe the cheaper regular rolls to go.

Although this place is called Jack’s slider and sushi, after reviewing pictures posted on Unilocal — I’ve decided to give their ramen a shot. I had their spicy beef ramen with a side order of their dumplings. The ramen was actually quite delicious. The texture of the noodle was not slimy or thick like other places I’ve tried. Their soup base had a sweet taste to it. I was warned that the spice is really strong so I asked to have it on the side. Definitely do not have them mix it in for you as it’s really spicy! The dumplings add-on was just $ 3 more so I got it. It goes really well with the ramen.

Sliders and sushi? It’s something that doesn’t necessarily make sense but is actually a wonderful combination. Jack’s does a great job of bringing these too things together. Here’s something that you should know when you walk in: don’t expect nigriri grade sushi. Just come in a order a roll — it’s one of the best Americanized sushi rolls that you can get in Manhattan. My friend and I ordered the spicy salmon salad, ahi tuna salad, Jack’s slider, the Curry Crunch slider, the Red Dragon, and the Orange Dragon. We were beyond full by the halfway point of the each of our respective rolls. Everything was good. I thoroughly enjoyed each item. The salad had the right amount of greens to fish to sauce. The sliders were well-cooked and tender. The rolls were balanced between rice, good seaweed, fish, and sauce. It was one of those meals where I felt like it was worth it. The service is all right and the restaurant is small overall. It’s definitely a casual spot that you go to with a friend or two. The portion to price ratio make this place pretty worth it. For $ 20, you can get a delicious slider and quite large roll. It’s something that’s worth trying, at least once. For the friends I know that love different combinations of food, this is a place that I recommend. If you’re a fan of both sushi and burgers, I dare you to try Jack’s.

Place is so cute and dainty! Had a girls night dinner and the whole restaurant to ourselves for the evening up until closing. It can’t get any better than that. Food was ok. I have to admit I had high hopes for the Pork Ramen Soup. But sadly, I was disappointed. It was literally B– L-A-N-D. Overall staff was great and entertaining. Cons: No hard liquor.

*****Really 3.5***** Jack’s was a pleasant surprise for a quiet weekend brunch. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual, with bench seating and cozy pillow accents. Their brunch deal is decent. Add $ 20 to an entrée and receive 2 hours of unlimited mimosas and sangria. Although this bottomless brunch is on the more expensive side, our waitress was really good at refilling our drinks, so we felt we got our moneys worth. The special sangria that day was«Apple Cider Sangria» and it was AMAZING! As for the food, Sliders seem to be the more popular choice here, so we opted for the Kimchi slider, Ginger Scallion Chicken Slider and the Pork Belly Slider.(All slider combos come with old bay fries which were poppin!) The Ginger Chicken Slider was by far my favorite. It exploded in my mouth with flavor. The Pork Belly Slider was a bit disappointing. I felt that the bun was too thick and really overpowered the taste. It didn’t even taste like there was any pork belly. Their entrée bowls were delicious. I opted for the Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl and my husband ordered the Tri-Color Sushi Rice Bowl with yellowtail, tuna and salmon. Everything tasted so fresh and the plating was really pretty. We had to wait about 15 — 20 min for our order but only because they had to make fresh rice, which I did not mind at all. The rice was cooked to perfection. Overall, I think Jack’s is a solid brunch choice. The meal is super filling which is important when you are having unlimited drinks. Our waitress was also a sweetheart and very accommodating. I would definitely come back again.

I really didn’t enjoy this restaurant. My friend and I came for an early dinner around 6pm. I got there early and it was an empty restaurant. I sat down and the waitress basically left me there until I had to flag her down to get a drink order in. 3 dollars for a beer. –old bay French fries– very good. ½ off for happy hour. Comes with spicy mayo! –chicken wings– these were okay. One of my wings wasn’t cooked all the way through so… Be careful. –Yuzu salmon speciality roll– very good. Not sure if it’s worth 13 though since there are so many good and cheap sushi restaurants around. It came with 8 pieces –my friend and I each ordered 3 sliders. We didn’t enjoy our sliders. The meat was super well done and has no flavor. I ordered a garlic scallion chicken one as well and it was so rubbery. I would stick to the regular burgers.

Another insta find and I must admit I was a little skeptical but BOY was I wrong. I came with 2 friends and e split a bunch of stuff. The sliders were ok, a little too spicy for my liking but french fries, the spicy tuna and california rolls, the gyoza and even the rice bowls were incredible. Its a really small spot, definitely make a reservation. They had a seasonal sangria when I went and had a lot of Asian beers and a wine list. Inexpensive, cozy, tasty… whats not to love? Never a bad idea to get the best of both worlds in the food realm.

This place is not bad for happy hour, but probably not something I would have all the time. The venue is very cut and a great place to get drinks. The staff was very nice and friendly and always checked up on us. 1) Sliders — $ 12 happy hour –Each of the burgers had the same patty with its own little twist in it Crunchy curry burger — didn’t have much of a curry taste, more like a little hint of it Jacks burger — taste like any other burger Kimchi burger — I didn’t like the kimchi that much, it didn’t seem fresh and crunch 2) Fries — half off happy hour –Garlic pieces so bomb! –This was my favor it item here! –They were skinny fries and came with 2 sauces 3) Wings — half off happy hour –These were ok, on the dry side, but the ouster skin was nice and crispy with lots of flavor 4) Yellow tail –Jalapeño over powered the dish a little, but I absolutely loved it! I just ate it after the fish –Cucumber gave it a nice crunchy texture to the dish –Sesame flavored sauce was so good –This was my second favorite item here 5) Red velvet taro ice cream sandwich — woppie pie –I was mostly excited to try this dessert, but it was only ok. The ice cream wasn’t as thick as I would have liked, it had more of a icy texture to it. The cookie part however was so soft and captured the red velvet well. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the ice cream being taro, but surprisingly it worked out taste wise, just not the texture. 6) Green tea ice cream — with check in! –This is not as sweet and had more of a strong tea flavor I mainly tried all the happy hour dishes, so I think if I come here again I would need to try other things on the menu and maybe ill I will find something more to my liking.

I actually liked my second time here a lot better than the first. Sliders and sushi: interesting concept! But I think it works well, as often when I eat sushi I want something hot, too. The two together make a surprisingly good balance. Today I went for sushi, and got the Buddhist 2 special roll, which is highly recommend. It’s a vegetarian roll that’s actually substantial: aside from the veggie-sushi-staples(cucumber, avocado, etc), it also has tofu and their homemade veggie patty. Delicious and also filling. It’s a pet peeve of mine that vegetarian rolls often have only vegetables and no protein. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. They get a lot of points for bringing me miso soup even though it wasn’t listed on the menu. Can’t have my sushi without miso soup! My only complaint is that it is a little pricey, especially for being such a casual place.

I feel like, had this been a different restaurant with a different vibe, the review might be a bit lower. But the waitress was just so dang likeable that I feel bad even giving it 3 stars. We sat down for dinner on New Year’s Eve. It’s a small place, but there were still empty tables around 7:30PM; only about 4 parties in total. It took kind of forever to place our order, but we all decided to get 1 slider a-la carte & then a sushi roll. That’s the shtick of the restaurant, right? And then this happened: Friend 1: Can we get an order of the Old Bay seasoned garlic fries as an appetizer? Waitress: You should try the sweet potato fries. I highly recommend them, they’re so so good! *The 3 of us look at each other, second guessing our entire life decisions up until this point.* Friend 2: Well. I mean, I like sweet potato fries? Me: I do, too, but I’m kind of intrigued by the Old Bay fries. Friend 1: Yeah. Let’s be adventurous. We’re going to stick to the Old Bay fries, please. Waitress: Okay, great! *10 minutes later* Waitress: *plops down an order of sweet potato fries* Here you go! *walks away* All of us: … Luckily, they were the same price. We figured it would be more trouble to fight it than it was worth. I did appreciate the sliders being brought out before the sushi. I feel like I can always eat 14 rolls of sushi at once, so pregaming with the slider definitely helped the urge to order more. The tofu teriyaki slider was pretty tasty, but the onions were a bit much. I picked them off. The black dragon sushi roll was YUM. Despite our waiting time & the forced upon sweet potato fries, I’d most likely come back!

A small cute restaurant — seats about 30 people max. I’ve eaten here 3 times now(lunch and dinner) and have ordered take out/delivery a few times as well. Lunch is much more affordable, while I think dinner is a bit pricy for what you get. They have happy hour until 7pm — $ 3 beers which is pretty good, however beer selection is meh. The staff here has always been very nice, but they are not the best waitress’ I’ve seen … many instances lead me to this conclusion, but the one that is helpful to others is do NOT let your phone leave your sight. If you have a coupon code, insist on holding your phone. I had a coupon code, and the waitress kept my phone for over 15 minutes — which is just weird in my opinion! Later that night I saw her drop someone else’s phone, I would have been pretty upset if that had happened to me! The Food: Old Bay Garlic Fries $ 6 The first time I came this was delicious! However, this past time I came and ordered this I was a little disappointed. The portion size is bigger now, but I feel like the quality has gone down. Fries are more dry and less flavorful. While there are still pieces of garlic, you don’t taste the garlic flavor as much. Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings(6 pieces) $ 8 These are AMAZING, chicken is so tender, not too salty, but salty and peppery enough to make it delicious! Be careful, they come out super-hot! Hamachi Sashimi $ 15 Not enough food for an entire meal(unless you’re not too hungry), but possibly a delicious starter for the table. Sashimi here is good though, very fresh and this dish is beautifully prepared. Ginger Scallion Chicken Ramen $ 14 I’ve gotten this in the restaurant once and for delivery twice and it’s been amazing every time! The chicken here is so good! Tender, flavorful and pan fried to a delicious crisp. The ramen broth hits the spot for me as well. Noodles are mediocre, not the best I’ve had, but good enough where it doesn’t stand out as bad or take away from the other good parts of the dish. Black Dragon Roll $ 13 Crab, avocado, cucumber, massago with eel on top Was very good, but there was just way too much of the black sauce, which made the dish too sweet! It was all over the dish, so it was impossible to even get around it. I would ask for LIGHT on the sauce, or sauce on the side. Spicy Crab Roll $ 13 Salmon, crunches, avocado, with spicy crab on top I thought this was better than the Black Dragon Roll — but I’m a big fan of spicy crab and spicy tuna. Again, presentation of the dish is very nice. Sugar Cookie with Cookies n Cream Ice Cream Slider $ 7 This was pretty terrible — I would NOT recommend it or order it again. If it were $ 3 I would still not order it, but it is incredibly overpriced and does not taste good Red Velvet Cookie with Taro Ice Cream Slider $ 7 Slightly better than the one above, but NOT good either. Save your money and go elsewhere for dessert! Lunch — Tri Color Sushi Rice Bowl Great lunch specials — very affordable, sushi rice bowl comes with quite a bit of sashimi. It’s fresh and delicious. If you get take out — make sure to ask for soy sauce, they don’t always include. Overall, I think there are a few good dishes here, however the prices are a bit high considering it’s a hit or miss depending on what you order. In addition, the unknown factor of service and possible long wait time for food makes it tough for me to recommend this place to others or want to come back here again. If there are other options, I would choose many restaurants over coming here again.

When my friends first suggested coming here for dinner, I thought I heard them wrong. Sliders and sushi?! Very intriguing yet random combination of food. I was excited to try! We went on a Friday night around 7pm, and were the only ones there which was surprising. The restaurant started filling up around 7:30−8pm, so I’d recommend going earlier in the evening if you don’t have a reservation. Because it was a cold rainy day, I ended up ordering the Jack’s spicy beef ramen as I was craving for something hot and soupy. I enjoyed the broth and noodles, but the beef was rather tough and chewy, which left me feeling underwhelmed and somewhat dissatisfied. I guess I should have known better and ordered either sliders or sushi, since this place is not called Jack’s Ramen. My friends who ordered the sliders and sushi seemed to enjoy them! One thing to take note of is that the sliders are pretty small for the price($ 5 – 6 per slider), and would thus end up being expensive if you wanted to leave the restaurant feeling full(2 is not enough). The ramen is also expensive($ 14) considering that other actual ramen restaurants have cheaper and better ramen. Our table had a Gilt City deal which made our meal a lot more worth it. Overall, I’d say that their food is decent but overpriced. To be honest, I’m not sure I’ll come back again unless friends suggest it or if there’s a deal.

Sliders and sushi? how can they get that wrong? And boy what a great combo. The boyfriend and I just finished going out for happy hour and stumbled into this place, we got the Jack’s sliders with the old bay garlic fries and the special spicy tuna. The sliders were good but nothing to go raving about, but when you put some of their garlic fries to the mix with a dip on their spicy mayo, now we’re talking. A smiley face was put on the spicy mayo with some ketchup. The special spicy tuna was something to go raving about, I could’ve gone for another roll but with everything else I was already full. Nice, small and cozy with very attentive service, I would come back again for the garlic fries and to try out more of their sushi.
