The best sushi in town. I love that they don’t put too much rice on the roll and it’s all about the fish. Incredible! Love the Millionaire roll, but everything we got was incredible. And the prices are very reasonable.

I love me some Loop. Discovered this place from a friend who lives in the area. The first time I had it was for take out and now, every excuse I get, I try and go here. Over the last few months, I’ve dined in a few times. The sushi is delicious, super fresh + consistently so. My go-to is usually the Hot Sexy Shrimp roll — so good! I just ordered the lunch special for take out(I work in Flatiron), and it’s a great deal. 2 maki rolls for $ 10 plus a side salad with ginger dressing. I had the salmon avocado roll and the sweet potato tempura roll. The salmon is so fresh and delicious — def not fishy or chewy like a lot of sushi spots. The sweet potato roll is perfection — lightly fried(so I tell myself) and not super heavy. Another great thing about this place is while you can make reservations, you don’t need to. I have def just strolled in on a Saturday night without there being a wait. Good service. Nothing fancy but cute date place.

Let me just say first and foremost the sushi here was great, tasted fresh and well prepared. Went on a Friday night, me and my girl had an insatiable crave for good sushi. It’s a nice intimate spot, not too big, not too small. While the food was great we had a little incident, came in sat down, waitress brought us our water and my girl went to pick it up and the bottom of the glass broke. Never experienced that before, just came apart, called the nearest employee and she looked and was just as puzzled as we were. Aside from that the experience was great, would definitely recommend. Great spot for a first date or just date night in general.

This is my first post on Unilocal.I just ordered the three roll lunch special and one of the rolls I ordered was chewy and tasted weird so I opened it up and saw that they had used the brown and red parts of the yellow tail in the spicy yellow tail roll. They hid those parts in the middle of the roll so that they couldn’t be seen. When I showed them, all they were concerned about was that I would pay for it. Use this info as you will…

We have been ordering Sushi from The Loop for years, sorry I told so long to review. The rolls are amazing, the sushi is fresh, even when you have ordered a large numbers for parties, I’m not disappointed

Sushi & Drinks That Is Great For A Date! After looking for a Sushi spot in Union Square on Unilocal for a few minutes I came across the loop and when I got here it did not disappoint. This place is very narrow, no frills, and filled with 2 person tables so I wouldn’t suggest coming here with a large group but for a date it is perfect. The entire place was filled with couples out on a date. We got the edamame which was delicious and 3 rolls and two drinks. Windy Way Roll — The best of the 3 rolls which had Spicy Crunchy Salmon, mango, red tobiko, and creamy cucumber relish Specialty Roll — Salmon and Jalapenos… etc Yellow Tail Scallion Roll The rolls were all great and the cocktail drinks were really good too. They are all asian themed and worth trying. In short: — Cozy spot great for a date — Good Sushi

WHAT I WOULDGIVE… to taste that big mac roll again. I found this sushi spot on one of my sushi cravings(which happens daily btw) and had a lovely meal with my sisters. I love their special rolls, they have such a great variety that you can’t really choose from them, the only one that really stands out is the Big Mac Roll. It’s a beasttttt… and it’s so. good. This became a regular sushi joint for me as I lived around the area. Service is great and very friendly! Seating is cozy. food: Big Mac Roll

One of the best sushi restaurants I’ve dined at in NYC. Great sushi and crispy calamari. Service is a bit slow even though I was the only one dining.

Front sign says: «pull hard! Seriously!» at first I laughed, then tried, and then laughed at myself because«SERIOUSLY» it was hard to open. If you can get over the horrible service, you are in for a treat. Now, as much as I want to give this place a 5 star, the seriously hard to open door ruined it for me and the people I was eating with. No one bothered to help the people who struggled to open the door(1 being an elderly lady) and when we told them, they just stared at us and we ending up helping 3 people open the door.(Yeah, I get that they know, but its not the guest responsibility to help open the door. Even the mail women who we helped open the door for was like«my back is hurting and I am not letting this door make it worst.» They need to SERIOUSLY fix that door, or they will loose business. On top of them not caring about the door problem, they need either hire more people or re-train the staff. A lady came in, sat down, and not one bothered to acknowledge her. Even we sat ourselves down and waitress asked if we ordered yet… On the PLUS side, their sushi was FRESH and one of the best I have had in NYC. Lunch special: from 12 – 2:45pm only! 1) Maki Lunch — choose 3 types of sushi for $ 11 –about 6 pieces for each roll –We got eel, spicy tuna, and white tail 2) 7 piece sashimi + California roll for $ 11.50 3) 5 piece sushi + 3 piece sashimi(2 of each) + tuna roll for $ 14 –They give you a wide selection of fish: tuna, yellowtail, shrimp, salmon, Striped Bass, and more This selection for 3 people was TOTALLY worth the cost and amount that we got for Lunch. The fish was fresh and the best part was they didn’t stuff too much rice in the sushi. Although, I am used to the huge jumbo size sushi from California, and the pieces here are smaller(half the size that I am used to), the amount they give is enough to fill you up for lunch. My next goal is to try the sushi for 2 for $ 41. The pictures I saw on Unilocal look appetizing so if its not lunch, this maybe the next worth it thing on the menu.

We were looking for a good place to eat. We came across this place and the place next door. We decided on The Loop since we were only after sushi this time. There was a lot of talk over two of their signature rolls and some beer and tea. We talked about about how artsy/orderly/messy life was like the sauce and raw fish arranged on the plate. Isn’t that what we all want, raw, life-supplying, art from the ocean? I spotted my friend on a date in the back seating area. We were in the front by the window.

Good sushi at a very reasonable price. It’s right next to jacks sushi and sliders so go there if you want something more kooky. If you prefer classy and traditional this is your place. Most of their rolls are standard rolls. I really liked their seaweed salad but I love all seaweed salad. The only item we had that was unique was the Big Mac roll and it was very good. It was almost like a sushi lasagna. Large square«rolls» that were cut into much to big to be bite size pieces that had rice paper spicy tuna avocado soft shell crab and all sorts of other layers(maybe more like a seven layer dip than a lasagna?) either way the end product was quite delicious albeit hard to eat. no happy hour though so … :-(

There are so many damn sushi places in NYC and I have struggled to find a favorite. Loop has good prices, fresh fish and yummy hot food. Came here for the lunch special which is an amazing deal. They have bento boxes and sushi/sashimi deals. You get a ton of food for approx $ 10. Can’t beat that. I had the pork katsu bento box which included two pieces of fried pork, 6 piece cali roll, bowl of white rice, salad and soup. Everything was so fresh and the service was great. This place is a cute and cozy sushi place, perfect for a date. It’s hard to miss so watch out for the white sign. Can’t wait to come back to try everything on the menu.

2.5 stars I learned on my trip to NYC this past weekend that I can’t depend on Unilocal for Asian restaurants. At least not in NY. This was the 2nd4 star restaurant we went to that made me go, «Huh? This place is average at best– wtf?» Standard American sushi restaurant with a variety of rolls. The rolls and sushi taste like pretty much every other restaurant like this. There is NO reason to come here unless you live in the neighborhood. If you live outside NYC, I’m sure you can find a similar restaurant in your hometown. If you’re in NYC, I’m sure you can find a similar restaurant in your neighborhood.

2.5 stars. The half star is because our server was nice. Came here for a sit-down dinner and also placed an order to go. Was not happy with the quality of the food. I ordered a Billy Joel roll and took the gyoza, seaweed salad, and sushi combo(spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy california roll) to go. The Billy Joel roll was piled high with so many toppings and sauces and crunchy bits that you couldn’t even taste the fish. Granted, the sauces were tasty, but I didn’t order spicy mayo and sweet sauce with a hint of fish. The gyoza were upsetting. I couldn’t tell if they were pan-fried and just super greasy and soggy, or steamed. The seaweed salad was good, but I can’t figure out why it came with dipping sauce? The real disappointment was with the sushi combo. The spicy salmon was not fresh. It tasted slimy and I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Overall, will not be back.

This couldn’t have been a worse delivery experience. Not only did it take a long time, but they messed up our order and it was expensive. Let me give you a breakdown: –The Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna came with two small pieces of hardened, stale rice balls and spicy tuna that looked like it came out of a drain pipe. We didn’t touch it –The«homemade» dumplings, without question, came out of a package –We paid a premium for the snow crab avocado roll. The best part? It was IMITATIONCRAB! –The avocado in our rolls tasted off, so did the soy sauce –When I called to ask about all of the above, the lady on the phone refused to respond and the manager wouldn’t call me back. This was done very politely. Customer service here deserves a zero The only slightly acceptable part of this meal was the spicy salmon roll. Otherwise this was a disaster. For $ 70, order from elsewhere. You’ll get more quality and quantity. My meal from«The Loop» makes me feel like someone stole cash out of my pocket. Thank god no one got food poisoning. Maybe it’s better at the restaurant? Probably not. I recommend you avoid this place.

* PROS * Delicious sushi Fresh fish Portion size is perfect Pricing is not tooooo bad * CONS * Although the sushi was fantastic, customer service was not. Our waiter was great, but he was being helped by a lady with long reddish hair who simply had attitude all night. It was so rude, she would role her eyes at us, she sighed when we were paying our bill because we were taking a bit too long adding things up etc. she ignored us on purpose when we asked her to come to the table. It’s so upsetting when the food is amazing, but this girl was just too rude it was NOT okay.

Hidden Gem! I grew up in this neighborhood and was not introduced to this place until recently. A friend took me here for dinner and I keep going back. In my opinion, this is the best casual/reasonably priced sushi spot in the area. The best rolls that I’ve had are: Sexy Shrimp Roll, expandable roll, dynamite roll and angry dragon. They were all signature rolls. These rolls are huge and delicious. One roll is always enough to fill me up. I’ve also tried the chicken teriyaki and the seaweed salad and both get the thumbs up. The staff is very nice, I have never been rushed to get up here and delivery time is usually only 30 minutes during dinner time.

kotobuki was closed for dinner last night(sadness), so i searched for nearby sushi restaurants. The Loop popped up and seemed well loved by Unilocal,so why not? My friend and I were pretty hungry(i was on the verge of hangry). So after looking at the menu, we opted for the sushi entrée for two, along with a madagascar roll. I really enjoyed the sushi entrée for two; fresh fish, great portions, free soup or salad, and the wasabi was real. I hate crappy wasabi, but this place has some stuff that cleared out my sinuses. :) The entrée came with: 16 pieces of sushi(eel, tuna, fatty tuna, salmon, red snapper, hamachi, white tuna and shrimp. 1 spicy tuna roll, 1 california roll, and 1 salmon avocado roll. for $ 39 bucks, we were both full on this alone. Sadly, the madagascar roll was a bit disappointing… i love scallops and was saddened that the spicy tuna and crunchy bits completely overwhelmed the flavor of the scallop. Your best bet is to stick with simple fresh fish, well made rice and that lovely wasabi.
