The Quick: If you’re broke or drunk, you will love this pizza. Absolutely must be eaten while hot. It’s not the best pizza you’ll have in your life, but certainly the best quality for the price. As an intern I lived off this every day and I turned out just fine… I think.

this is probably one of my favorite $ 1 pizza places. there’s plenty of room to sit, and I order around 3 slices to fill me up. there’s also a deal that’s $ 3 for two slices and a soda. I come here mostly when I want really cheap pizza(if I don’t want artichokes or bens pizza) or if I’m drunk as hell and it’s the only pizza place open. I recommend this place to satisfy your pizza craving if you’ve got $ 2 in your pocket and you’re coming home from the club.

I was passing by and decided to try the $ 1 pizza. I was hungry and didn’t feel like spending $ 10 for something at the nearby cafes. The pizza was fine and for the price pretty darn good. Didn’t expect much in the way of atmosphere but the stools in the back fit the bill. If I was a college student at nearby NYU i’d be here often.

Because pizza for breakfast is highly appropriate in NYC. Preparing to descend into W. 4th St subway station after an early morning meeting, I spied 2 Bros opening up for the day. Wasn’t hungry, but I’ll be damned if I let an opportunity to enjoy the first pizzas of the day pass me by. Besides, there are certain rituals a native New Yorker must acquiesce to when visiting, a slice of pizza being one of them. Sort of like continuing education credits. I’d hoped to escape Manhattan and be back in Brooklyn before all the West Village $ 1 pizzerias opened up(zero restraint), but damn 2 Bros for opening up an hour earlier at 10am. Whaduyagonnado? You have to have a slice. Already ate? No excuse. Lactose intolerant? No excuse! Tomato allergy? Suck it up! First customer of the day. Fresh pizzas dancing out the oven. Ordered 1 heavenly $ 1 slice and got the hell out of there before my greed kicked in. ReUp complete.

Get a slice straight out of the oven. Legit. Brought a couple friends, they were surprised how good it was.

2 Bros. has the corner market on $ 1 pizza slices. If you want a passably decent slice of pizza for dirt cheap, definitely go to any 2 Bros. location. At the smaller mom & pop stores that attempt 99 cent slices, they almost always fall short… usually by seriously skimping on the cheese so really you’re just eating baked dough. But at 2 Bros, they usually apply a decent amount of cheese to their pizzas. I’m guessing they know that they’ll sell a high volume of pizza, so they can afford to both give a lot of cheese and keep the prices at the coveted $ 1. I usually get the dollar slices, but today I decided to go fancy and try their other specialty pies. I got the Lasagna slice(beef and ricotta). It was pretty good, a decent ratio of both meat & cheese. I would have preferred a bit more sauce however. The only complaints are that to save costs, none of their locations have air conditioning. All the locations are literally baking hot in the summer. A small price to pay IMHO comfortwise for $ 1 pizza.

Guys. It’s $ 1 thick crust cheese pizza. I have lived on this for 4 years(thanks NYU).

The pizza was average at best, but the lady behind the counter was absolutely miserable. Stern face and rude when asked any questions. They only had cheese and two other options available and the lady snarled at us when asked if there were other toppings available. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it to anyone.

I was in here yesterday afternoon trying to get something to eat to soak up the alcohol I just had. I ordered 2 slices of pizza to go. It didn’t take long. I put the usual spices I usually do on it– oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes.

Perfectly adequate slice, but annoyed at the people who work there. Ordered 3 slices of pepperoni, and they put two on the counter. When we specified that we asked for 3, he then tells us «oh, we only have two slices.» That’s fine, but I mean at least say that. And don’t give me attitude for assuming when you got the number wrong that it was a mistake. Also, even though they seem to have plenty of traffic in this location, their slices are always lukewarm at best. Are you just not heating your pizzas up all the way? I know, it’s a cheap slice so I’m not complaining that much, but something to know.

Pizza is not so good as behind the corner where there’s Joe’s Pizza. 2 bros use some strange oil as sausage fat that makes pizza lightly spicy. Moreover beware: I paid just a slice, gave 20 $, lot of bags in hands… just 14 $ returned: yes, the casher is a thief.

I’m choosing to review this 2 Bros location simply ‘cos the guys that work here are always friendly — something that’s not a given at other 2 Bros locations. Also, the five stars, or as Unilocal puts it: «Woohoo! As good as it gets!,» are given in the context of $ 1 pizza in New York City. I’ve sampled several other $ 1 pizza establishments in New York over the years and nobody compares to 2 Bros. Nowadays, if there’s not a 2 Bros Pizza close by, there’s no $ 1 pizza for me. The quality, service, and presentation definitely vary from one location to the next and I have to say I’m a fan of the spots that still have a predominately Mexican staff runnin’ the show. Sorry to be honest, but Dominican pizza just ain’t the same. I’m surprised by all the two and three star reviews for 2 Bros. After all, it’s a slice of pizza in NYC for $ 1! Of course it’s not gourmet, but… damn…for $ 1 it’s about as good as it ‘s gonna get. I agree with another reviewer that went so far as to say that 2 Bros is often better than pizza joints that charge $ 2 – 3. They’re constantly busy, so at least you know you’re gonna get a slice fresh outta the oven(vs. a dried-out-under-the heat-lamp slice). Being from San Francisco, I miss the options I had back home when it comes to cheap eats(i.e. the notorious SF taqueria); but if I’m out on the street in NYC and am hungry — 2 Bros Pizza is a godsend.

the pizza is far too salty and bread is like cardboard. at two points an employee took out the trash lifting it over the tables where people had food. I know there is an appeal for divey locations, but please keep the garbage away from my food.

I was skeptical at first because outside there were quite a few rough looking people standing around outside and hanging out at a table inside, but I had read about the dollar slice and when in NYC anything is a go. I got the $ 1.50 slice mushroom which had plenty of shrooms atop. Took the slice to go so that I didn’t run the risk of being asked for my change. The slice is thin but has a nice crust and crunch along the bottom. The cheese is good as well as the sauce. I wouldn’t mind having this place open shop back home. To compare I bought a slice in the west village for $ 2.50 for just cheese at another spot and it tasted like garbage. I would choose 2 bros over that other place any day.

I’m not so much disappointed in the restaurant as I am in myself for not realizing that there are 5 other $ 1 pizza joints in the area that are authentic and unfranchised. This place is stingy on the cheese and doesn’t care much for presentation. The shop was unkept and dirty.

I mean, it’s pizza… that’s usually enough to fetch you at least 2 stars. It’s kind of hard to fuck that up and 2 Bros certainly does not do that. I have to insist though that this really isn’t a New York slice though. It’s floppy, the crust is fairly thick and doughy. The end of the crust kind of sucks. It’s a lot more reminiscent of a fast-food slice like Pizza Hut or Papa John’s than of any kind of iconic NY style thin crust pizza. And if that’s what you’re in the mood for, 2 Bros is your spot. It’s cheap, it’s filling, it does what it’s supposed to do. But on account of those uninviting munchkin tables and the unimpressive selection of very average pizza, served to you by bored unhappy people from behind the most sterile and generic pizza counter in the city, it’s really just not the greatest cheap pizza experience you can find here. Nothing wrong with that, I guess… maybe I’m just mirroring their lack of enthusiasm.

In the competitive world of $ 1 slices, 2 Bros more often then not comes out the clear winner. I would even go so far as to say I like 2 Bros more then most of the average 2+ dollar slices. The dough here is not thick, right amount of cheese and the sauce is great. Save those hard earned bucks and don’t waste your dollar bills at srip clubs, this place will give you more bang for your buck!
