Intermix

I have never, EVER had a good in-​person experience here (I did a telephone order once and that went quite well). The only person who has ever greeted me is the security guard. The saleswomen are snobby and behave as if they are too important or too busy to even lift their eyes to look at you. When I walk into a high end boutique, there are certain things that I expect to happen off the bat — to be greeted and to be asked if I need assistance. That has never happened at Intermix. The last time that I went to this location, I walked out within 3 minutes because my expectations were not met. Intermix, you need to know that anyone who walks into your stores is a POTENTIAL CUSTOMER. As consumers, we have many choices in the world of fashion — why would I subject myself to poor treatment if I don’t have to? I will never go to Intermix (this location or another) again. There are far better stores that you can go to, ladies!

Terrific clothes and you can almost put an outfit together here… which is hard to do on the UWS. Very friendly staff and not pushy. Just a warning, sometimes Columbus/​UWS is out of merchandise and they send you to the UES store, which that store is unbearably snobby… and it could turn you off to Intermix if that were your only experience. There are also stores in WV, Soho, along with Columbus. If you want a great selection and great service, just avoid UES. Columbus/​UWS is pretty big and surprisingly carries all the high fashion pieces the other stores carry… in a nice chill atmosphere. If you want more privacy, ask to go to the dressing rooms in the back.

Great selection but extremely pushy sales people. They always have the best pieces of the season and I never have trouble finding something. However, the sales people tend to be a bit too pushy and I’ve witnessed them «lying» to customers (and myself) about how amazing something looks on. Not every piece of clothing works for every body type. I was clearly not meant to wear a dress that they were ready to «die for». With that being said, the selection and styles are worth the slight irritations.

I prefer to try things on without distractions. And while the intention was good, the over-​enthusiasm got a bit annoying. And I didn’t know how to get away from the salesclerk who followed me around offering suggestions that I didn’t really want. I came here to amuse myself and knew I wasn’t going to buy anything anyway… so I guess I got what I deserved.

While this is a mini-​chain in the city with 4 or 5 outposts this is my favorite of the bunch. The staff act as in-​store stylists, offering genuine suggestions even when you don’t ask for them. Like if you take a sweater in the dressing room, they bring over a skirt and a pair of pants to try with it so you can see what it looks like. Considering the fact that nothing in the store is under $ 100, being treated well is a nice perk. Go here for brands like Chloe, Theory, C&C California, and up-​and-​coming designers you’ll be glad to know about.
