Icon Style

I’ve dropped into Icon Style only a few times, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite shops in the city. Lara is fabulous at what she does– from hand picking amazing pieces for her store to helping customers find the perfect thing for them, she’s definitely got it down. Style Icon is definitely one of those amazingly hand crafted, charming, and wonderfully unique small businesses that make New York special. You’ll want to give yourself enough time to take a look at all of special pieces and to just soak in the wonderful ambiance the store so effortlessly provides.

My friend invited me to the 2 year anniversary party celebration this last Thursday! And I kept feeling like Cinderella. I didn’t want the evening to end and I kept feeling like my shoe was going to fall off.
When we arrived we were greeted with glasses of Prosecco topped with a raspberry! Then there was a gorgeous cheese platter with grapes and quince paste. There was also veggies and little treats. Right away we met Tziporah Salamon. If you don’t know who that is, I highly recommend checking out «Advanced Style» on netflix. It’s a film of older women 60’s and up who are extreme individuals and I love them so much. They are inspiring to be who you want to be all the time. Tziporah was extremely knowledgeable about the beautiful jewelry on display. There were unique brooches like a little trumpet, a freshly manicured hitchhiking hand which was a fave of mine. My friend had her eye on a «Victorian» bracelet. Once, I heard «Victorian» I knew it would be a pretty penny. A lot of items we saw were around $ 100-​$ 200. However, the bracelet was in the 6K range. There are still many affordable pieces to pick from that you will only be able to find at this shop.
I made my way to the fur coat and clothing rack. And that is were I met some of the most interesting women. Right away I made friend’s with Andrea a Beauty Editor at a quarterly Magazine and Debra an improv actress and pool shark. I also met Ingrid who was trying on the most perfect mink coat. The thing about vintage is that when it fits like a glove it’s almost meant to be. Needless to say the coat found a new home and so did so many of the vintage items that night. The shop owner Lara was a gracious hostess and her boyfriend Matt was quiet the mixologist with the Gin Fizz.
As the evening progressed there was live impromptu entertainment. Recently I have been in love with Louis Armstrong’s «A Kiss To Build A Dream On» and that is the song the ladies picked. I was on cloud nine. And then there was even a prize of $ 200 awarded to a party guest and 20% off everything in the shop for all the customers that evening.
I highly recommend coming to the shop and finding that unique treasure. This is a great little «gem». Pun intended.

I had the pleasure of visiting this gorgeous shop yesterday evening and had the best time. All of the jewelry is obviously selected with great care, featuring unique pieces in great condition. The staff was really friendly, approachable. Love this shop! I’ll definitely come back.

This store has a beautiful collection of vintage jewelry and clothing from every era (so it seems). I was very taken with a Trifari bracelet and am so happy with my purchase! The owner is extremely knowledgable, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I love reclaimed display cases and shelves. Large curated collection, excellent condition, beautifully displayed and restored. I will be back!!!
