Pricey juice and smoothie joints abound in the city, many of them serving interesting combinations of flavors and ingredients. At the $ 8 per smoothie and up price point, most of these juice places use fresh, organic ingredients. The food at Indie fresh purports to be organic and fresh as well. They have some interesting combinations of flavors, but the smoothies are hard to drink. They have a thick consistency like sludge and do not go down smoothly like one would expect. No duh that a smoothie is not liquidy and easy to down like a juice, but I’ve had smoothies all over the city and this place is not very good. Also the customer service at the shop was perplexing. I got several different smoothies after looking at their menu, but when i went to pay, it was way more expensive than i expected. When I looked at the receipt afterwards, the smoothies were more expensive than the prices on the printed menu. We asked the guy at the counter and he said oh yeah, the menu prices are wrong. I said dude, are you going to adjust the prices and refund me the difference? He just stared blankly at me as if his mind was blown by the complexity of the situation. What?! Dudes, at the prices you guys charge, you can def afford to get some updated menus with correct pricing. Not that it matters to me now since the smoothies are still no good.

The shake tasted disgusting, and the staff here are very unfriendly. They wouldn’t let my 8 year old daughter sit in a seat for 2 minutes before shooing us away. The shake itself is very thick and has a combination of flavors that taste horrible together.

I chose Indie Fresh, looking for a somewhat healthy protein-filled meal at Gotham West. What I got was a stomach ache. I ordered the Bison Burger on the gluten free bun, thinking it would be a decent option as it is one of the very few items that are not pre-preapred. The thing was impossible to eat, the bun was soggy in seconds, and it was dripping in sauce and grease. I am officially a victim of their excellent marketing claims of the«leanness» of the bison. NOT worth my $ 16 to feel sick the rest of the afternoon… the whole time I was eating it I was wishing I had gotten the tacos next door instead. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Very indie(read hipster douchey) not very fresh. Everything there is pre-made. Who the hell wants to pay $ 11 for a bottled smoothie??? I had the meatball mash which was extemely bland and came in a portion that would leave a 4 year old writhing with hunger. And it cost $ 12.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Indie Fresh. Super healthy and yummy options that are especially easy to bring with you on the go. I like that the menu continues to grow over time!

Obsessed with Indie Fresh! I could drink it every day and never get bored of it. Some of my favs are the broccoli hemp curry soup, avocado matcha smoothie, blueberry cayenne and of course the pancakes. Oh and how could I forget there ginger shots give me life. There food is filling and gives me the energy I need to get through the day or recover from a workout. I would highly recommend to everyone. Def a must try!

The menu on the wall is confusing. The paper menu is easier to decipher. Typical of food labeled«healthy, organic» the prices are a little inflated. Staff is extremely pleasant. I had the bison burger that comes atop a salad was over cooked and dry.

Why did I pay $ 9 for a bowl of soup? Well first I thought it was because I was a total moron buying into the overly priced hipster food culture of NYC(probably). BUT the thing is… i paid $ 9 for a huge bowl of soup, that just happened to be the best soup I have ever had. Like, ever. It was incredible. The flavors were so fresh and fulfilling. I ordered a butternut chicken soup. And of course it was organic, and natural, and blah blah blah. I went in there to buy soup because it was freezing out, I can care less about how many calories it contained. But Im happy I made the choice to get this particular soup, because it is pretty rad.

Ordered the curry soup and got a smoothie. Soup was good but overly heavy. Smoothie, on the other hand, was not to my tastes(and I am a smoothie aficionado). It had a very strong yogurt taste that was just not appealing. They need to improve their tasting and cooking team.

As far as paleo-leaning fast casual spots go, Hu is definitely the winner in Manhattan, but if you find yourself stranded, stuck, or otherwise in need of sustenance and all the way over here on 11th avenue, Indie Fresh will do in a pinch. The smoothies are hearty and tasty, and come in two sizes in case you don’t want a massive serving of pureed almond butter and coconut water. The tasmanian salmon salad is super filling and yummy, while staying totally clean, if that’s your thing(ask them to toss it for you if you’re getting it to go). It’s not cheap, with the salad clocking in at $ 12, but you’re not going to find a cheaper salad option in Gotham West, so, you know, pick your battles. I always find the service here a little pushy and weird, as the service at Gotham West tends to be in general, but nothing too terrible.

This place charged $ 14FOURTEENDOLLARSFOR A COLDTURKEYPATTY! Never again. A pound of fresh ground turkey meat doesn’t even cost fourteen dollars. Remember to read the fine print.(Naked) served naked means NOBUN.

What a horrible customer service experience I placed my order via seamless. 45 Minutes later the delivery driver calls and asks to confirm my address. I tell him and he tells me he is on the complete other side of Manhattan/he was given the wrong address. He then tells me he is in my lobby, and 15 minutes later he tells me he is in the wrong building. I called the store… Busy, busy, busy, signal. FINALLY someone answers the phone only to tell me «sorry the delivery guy isn’t bringing you the order. He said he is no longer working.» REALLY? She actually just said this to me! It was so clear that this woman working could care less about customer service or the company. TOTAL joke. It’s now an hour + since I placed my order and I have no faith this order will ever get to me…

Giving it two stars because I ordered the«Chicken Brutus Salad» and they sent me home with a bland chicken sandwich with an egg on top. When they handed me my food I asked twice«Is this the chicken brutus salad?» and«Are you sure this tiny box is the salad?» and was assured twice that it was. Now, if the sandwich would have been good also, that would’ve changed things. But it’s a flavorless chicken patty, a fried egg, and a slice of avocado sandwiched between two suspiciously bright yellow buns with a slathering of what I hope is mayo. Oh, and all that for only $ 12. Meh…

I’ve visited Indie Fresh in Gotham West Market numerous times. As a fitness instructor in HK I’m always looking for new fresh food places. And it’s a wonderful healthy option as long as you aren’t tempted by the neighboring greasy food. I’ve had their juices, soups, and salads. Everything has been great. I especially enjoy the turkey + black bean chili and the wild bison + mushroom salad.

Really enjoyed my Tasmanian salmon salad. If you order it to-go, they will also kindly toss it for you. Best part is the black chia seed dressing — a bit spicy(with the help of Dijon mustard) yet very tasty! No mason jars whatsoever.

Ordered the Breakfast Burger on Postmates thinking this was a filling, healthy, and promising looking breakfast option. Boy, oh boy, how could I be more wrong?! Yes, the sandwich might have been filling, if the burger wasn’t 100% undercooked. Traumatic is an understatement. How can a place that prides itself on organic and healthy ingredients undercook chicken of ALLTHINGS. Please keep in mind being a fairly positive person I tried initially to cook the burger for more time in the microwave before giving up. Boom, a few minutes in the microwave and the chicken burger is still bright BRIGHTPINK. This was honestly really, really concerning considering how overpriced the place is in general. Paid $ 12 for an undercooked all natural burger, and probably got salmonella. Thanks a lot for hands down the worst breakfast experience imaginable.

Walked in with a stomache ache after eating ungodly amounts of pizza and ice cream, and was actually craving something healthy. So I walked to the most hipster healthy place I could find in the Gotham west market and found almost the exact definition of my search in indie fresh. I asked the cashier what the best tasting item was to cure what ails me, and she recommended the Red Juice. And for $ 10, I got a cold pressed concoction of vile proportions. I have definitely had better and for far less. So why am I even giving it a second star? Because believe it or not, this dirt infused vegetable juice really worked.

Bad first experience and disappointed… I ordered this: Chicken Burger with Avocado and Over Easy Egg on Gluten Free English Muffin$ 14.00 All natural chicken burger topped with avocado slices, avocado aioli and and over easy egg on an gluten free English muffin… What came was a sad chicken burger with no egg over anything and no avocado anything… just chicken on a gluten free English muffin. The delivery guy couldn’t do anything because he was Über Rush… So? What? Am I supposed to go over from the LES to pick up the rest of the burger? Super disappointing lunch. Wanted to love it.

This place DEFINITELY knows how to market itself. Mason jar packaging, contrasts by color and texture, exotic ingredients, etc. I’ve been eyeing this place for a while now and finally decided to order the Bison Meatball soup with quinoaand mushroom sauce($ 12) and a acai maca root smoothie($ 11). It’s a bit pricey but I’m willing to pay for an experience. The meatballs were fresh and chewy but I guess the chef who made the mushroom sauce was feeling VERY generous with how much salt he wanted to dispense into the dish. It was SO salty I could not bring myself to give it a second chance. Moving on to the smoothie. When I ordered, I clicked on Acai Maca Root Smoothie because I really wanted something berry-y. When the smoothie came, it was labeled«strawberry.» I’m still very confused — last time I checked acai was not the same as strawberry and strawberry definitely does not have the same amount of antioxidants. It tasted fine though — a lot thicker than I imagined. If you imagine a berry yam smoothie, you’d probably get closer to the actual texture. Overall, I think the place is definitely overpriced /not worthy of the experience. If you want to pay for the packaging /marketing, be their guest. That said, I might give it another try just because of all the better reviews people have written for it.

Why didn’t I find this place in the winter when I needed to warm up? These soups are amazing! I recently picked up a four-soup sampler, with broccoli, a pepper carrot, butternut squash and chili. So far the broccoli is my favorite, but I want to come back and try others the next time it’s chilly. And for hot days, the smoothie I tried(blueberry cayenne) was delectable. Perfect for a post-workout pick-me-up. Bonus: The staff here couldn’t be nicer. Everyone is so sweet and helpful!
