Hmn… this was one for the books for sure We’ve been wanting to visit this place after we saw it featured on Heston Blumenthal’s in search of perfection TV series as one of the best steaks in NYC. First of all let’s get the record straight. Yes it’s at the penthouse gentleman’s club. You actually walk through the club to get into the restaurant which is situated on the top floor overlooking the club. We arrived at the premises at 7.30 pm(yeah! I know, way too early) on a Friday evening. We had a party of 4 guys and 2 girls. We asked the security guard about Robert’s Steakhouse and he insisted that we were at the wrong place. After a minute of debating, the argument was settled by ever reliable«google maps». Once we were inside we were greeted very courteously and professionally by a gentlemen who took care of our table for the night. After we ordered appetizers a dancer came and sat next to one of my friends. Initially I was surprised because I heard that they didn’t bother the diners. But the conversation was innocent… at least for a while… so we let her be. Just as the appetizers arrived at the table she asked whether anyone wanted a «naked appetizer» before they start their real appetizer. Long story short, we rejected the offer and enjoyed our food. The food was excellent. The steak was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The service by the wait staff was also professional. And they also had some good high-end wines for decent prices. However our dinner was interrupted several times by girls checking whether we wanted lap dances. At one point two girls started giving a lap dance to a guy at our neighboring table which was kinda awkward. Call me old fashion, but when it come to my meat I like to do one thing at a time. And in this instance all I wanted was to peacefully enjoy it medium-rare.

My review is for the restaurant only, which is Robert’s. Judging from the other reviewers, they fused the strip club(Penthouse) and the restaurant into one. The girls will only go to the restaurant area if you requested it. If not, they’re not going to be obnoxious about it and shove their boobs to your face. As far as Robert’s go, the food and service is impeccable. The steaks are great quality and very reasonable in price. Yes, it’s $ 52 for a ribeye steak for 2 people, but it’s 35 ounces altogether and you can feed 4 people with that. The waiter was attentive and my glass was never empty. I ordered a side of sautéed mushrooms. You can taste the truffle oil, it was delicious! Make sure to ask for their specials. If they have mac ‘n cheese, do yourself a favor and treat yourself. You can really taste the 4 different types of cheese blended together.

I’ve been dining here for years. I’ve yet to try anything that wasn’t absolutely delicious. The steaks are high quality and always cooked to perfection. I usually start with their Caesar salad and then the fillet with a side of bearnaise sauce. The fillet is melt in your mouth delicious. I’ve had the colossal shrimp cocktail and they aren’t kidding. These shrimp are huge! Coffee, espresso or cappuccino is available along with delicious desserts. The wait staff is never far and just a glance will bring them promptly to your table to see to your every need. As with the Penthouse Club that the restaurant shares, the ladies will sit with you during your meal if you wish but don’t bother you if you’d rather not. Personally I don’t mind if one or two join us when I dine there. What man would object to a beautiful woman sharing his table? Naturally I always offer them food and drinks which they gladly accept. It would be rude to sit there eating and drinking and not offer them the same. ;)

Very solid steakhouse. Bread basket is amazing. Augratin potatoes needed to be cooked longer and they were also runny. The cheeseburger was very good.

Review #100 I would give 6 stars if I could. Fabulous! I’m glad that my anniversary #100 review is on this wonderful place. I LOVED Robert’s Steakhouse! the food has awesome quality, fresh ingredients & not to mention is fairly priced. The service was great, the food came fast, & every little thing was well-cooked and delish. Great the food/great service/impressive value. The staff was super nice and outgoing. Overall, it’s one of the best Steakhouses I have tried so far, and I am a fan of their Kobe Style Beef Carpaccio. Too good.

This place gives a new meaning to the term New York Strip! Situated upstairs within a strip club this«steak restaurant»(I can not in good conscience call this a steakhouse) serves shockingly good cuts of meat, cooked to perfection, and I must give them props for that. However, they do drop the ball on a number of other fronts. The drinks are exorbitantly expensive and the pours are on the small side… which is not what you want when paying nearly $ 20 for a scotch… or a shot of liquor from the«shot lady,» who we could have done without. The appetizers were excellent but the side dishes were really lacking. But, more than anything, the service was quite unprofessional. These did not seem like seasoned waiters who have worked in high-end restaurants before. They were cleaning up before we were done and made us feel rushed. But, ultimately, this is a strip club so I suppose I should have managed expectations. If you’re coming here for a bachelor party then I can see why this place is appealing. If you’re coming for a steak dinner, you can do exponentially better at one of the many time-honored steakhouses around Manhattan

So, two years later it’s the man’s birthday again, and it’s time for Robert’s again. And it’s still heaven. However, and this might be due to me reducing my alcohol intake ever so slightly, service lacked a little bit compared to last time. It took a while until they were ready to take our orders, but on the bright side, they were able to seat 13 people when we had only made reservations for 10(me telling everyone how much I loved it had its effects). The ladies were classy as always, the steak was excellent. I just picked the wrong appetizer — get the tuna tartare, and stay away from the mushroom risotto, unless that’s all you’re going to eat(it’s very filling). All in all, a wonderful experience again, although in the future I’ll probably ask Ronnie(who arranges the party deals) if he’ll be there the night of, I think his presence has a positive effect on the service level.

Not a good experience. The porterhouse for 2 is waaay overpriced($ 110), and only had enough food for 1. The worst part is that it came pre-sliced and laid down flat on the plate. This made it look like it was a lot of food, but if you stack it up upright, it barely added up to half the T-bone. RIPOFF… couldn’t help but feel cheated. Lastly, we had a semi-large party, and it took a few minutes to settle our obscene bill. All the while the waiter was standing over our shoulders to monitor/oversee everything. That and he ended up counting all $ 2000 in front of us… way to keep it classy guy. P. S., the girls there aren’t even hot.

Yes, we went here for my birthday. Don’t judge. This place is much more lounge/steakhouse with naked entertainment than pure strip club. The place was relatively empty, especially at 8pm, which is when we made our dinner reservations. They sat our party of 15ish on the main floor in a circular arrangement of small tables and lounge chairs. The drinks are pricey(wine/cocktails $ 18, beer $ 11, very pricey bottles f alcohol/wine). However, the drinks are legit, not like some strip clubs that charge ridiculous prices for bud light in a small plastic club. It’s impossible to eat for less than about $ 40. Most of the dishes run $ 50+, but the food is legit. I have now used the word«legit» twice. I ordered the bacon wrapped venison with no sides(sides are another $ 14 each), and got a huge slab of delicious meat with very thick bacon heaven. The entertainment is relatively classy. There were times when we were so in conversation that I forgot where we were. The women are not in your face, unless they want you to be. The whole thing felt more performance art than seedy.

Who would ever think that people come here for the food? LOL But the reality is that this restaurant is great! You don’t have to be a big meat eater to enjoy a meal here. There are lots of salad & fish options that are very tasty. My favorites are tuna tartare, yellowtail jalapeño, pear salad. The scenery is not half bad either! ;-)

OK… understand what you are getting here. $ 50 + steak entrees. Appetizers that are priced slightly higher than they deserve. The décor is… well…an aquired taste. Men won’t mind. Women… hopefully they won’t mind either(but I am known to be wrong — a lot). The service is well above average — VERY attentive, which is a real plus for someone like me — a person that likes going to restaurants that make you feel special when you sit down… know what I mean? YES…it is on the second floor of the Penthouse Executive Club. YES… it isn’t in the greatest part of Manhattan. And NO… it’s not a place to bring a conservative lady on a first date. HOWEVER: if you don’t mind slgihtly over-paying for a very nice steak dinner, the overall experience is very unique. SOMEQUICKTIPS: If you are a single man(table for one, I mean…), or a group of men(which is 99+% of the clientele), understand that extremely beautiful women wearing extremely flimsy attire will be strolling the restaurant and looking to make smalltalk. Smalltalk can easily turn into a drink… or two… or three. This can turn into appetizers or even a steak. Add on to this the frequent offers of $ 20 lap dances in between the courses of your meal, and your bill might give you a severe case of agita. So — before you sit down — understand the rules of the game and be prepared to fend off the additional costs. If money is no object… then go with the flow and enjoy!

Heaven on Earth. If you don’t like this place you are not a man. Where else can you get a legit steak and have a naked stripper sit on your lap and feed it to you? The quality of the meat is of the highest grade. Both kinds. P. S. For all you no Beef people, their Chilean Sea Bass is pretty awesome.

***The following is what my review of Robert’s might look like, if I was ever to go into such an establishment.*** For those of you who have never heard of Robert’s, it’s a STEAKHOUSE in a STRIPCLUB. This is the American Dream, people. Even though this is more than enough information for at least 90% of the population to decide either«HELLLL yeah!» or «HELLLL no!», I’m going to go into more detail anyway. Now, normally I’m far too classy to be seen in strip clubs(dark glasses and a hoodie keep me incognito), but it was a good friend’s birthday, and this is what he wanted to do. So I bit the bullet, and forced myself to eat a delicious meal in the company of naked women. I ordered the tuna tartare to start. It came out topped with a quail egg, surrounded by little garlic toast points. Phenomenal. Although at $ 24, not exactly a steal. For my main course I got the Bone-in Strip. All I have to say is, it’s a good thing I am above vulgar double entendres. Psyche!(See what I did there?) The strip(per) was a superior specimen, lean, but with enough fat to make it interesting. At a lot of places, they don’t offer the bone-in with the strip(per)s, but I was ecstatic to see it as an option at Robert’s. Of course, it cost me a little extra, but it was definitely worth it. It was tender, and oh-so-perfectly pink and juicy, right where it counts. In fact, the juices got all over my plate as soon as I got up in there. Even on my face, but I was so caught up in the moment I didn’t care. I think the whole experience was better because I ate the raw fish right before I got the bone-in. Not all guys like that sort of thing, but I’m all about it(you listening ladies?). It’s important to make sure the fish is fresh; I stay away if it smells even a little ripe. Anyway, when you’ve got the WHOLE bone in there, it does wonders for the«flavor,» if you know what I mean. It was so good I didn’t want to share, but one of my friends wanted to try the bone-in as well… and who am I to deny him? Although, it is a little unsanitary. I mean, I don’t know where he’s been. Oh man, I just realized how angry my girlfriend’s going to be. She hates it when I get the bone-in and she’s not there to get involved. Whatever, it was a much better bone-in than she’s given me in a while… maybe ever. I love bonin’ strippers… uh…I mean, bone-in strips. It should be noted that our asparagus didn’t arrive until LONG after our steaks. Also, they were slow with the water and drink refills. I don’t care if there are naked women running around… at these prices, the service should be impeccable. The ladies do hover a bit, and«force» you to buy lap-dances. I refused a dance while I was eating(if I’m dropping $ 50+ on a piece of meat, I’m going to eat it hot… some things are more important than boobies*), but my buddy and the dancer weren’t having any of it. He slipped her the cash, and that was that. In fact, when I tried to talk back, I got boob-slapped. Seriously. Needless to say, I went on to do a lot of back-talking. As one of my friends noted, it’s surprising that I didn’t walk out of there with a couple of black eyes. _________ *False.

Normally, I would get lot of flak for writing this review, but Bruni’s review in the New York Times semi-legitimizes this. Robert’s is the restaurant in the Penthouse«gentleman’s» club. This may deter some of you — however, if you are in search of some awesome steak, you need to consider trying this place. I ordered a boned-in New York strip, rare, and, collectively, we ordered creamed spinach, sweet potato fries, and fried brussel sprouts with bacon. I know steaklovers will give pause to ordering brussel sprouts, but trust me, these were the highlight of the sides. They were fried to a crisp so that the bitterness of a normal sprout disappears, almost like a French-fried sprout. It was a great combination with the bacon. Alas, I no longer see the sprouts on online menus, so I am not sure if they are still serving it. Now for the main event — the steak was excellent. It was spiced/peppered on the outside, and suitably juicy and tender, yet very flavorable inside. My steak was probably 1.5 — 2 inches thick, and I loved the fact that it was boned-in, as the portion closest to the bone was the most tender. It was ever so slightly overcooked — with a crisp, charred outside, then pink about half an inch inside, but in the middle it was red/rare. I would say that the steak is Top 3(American-style) in NYC from my experience. One consideration is that this place seemed about 10−15% more expensive than even the«normal» prices at steakhouses in the city. Also, for the female carnivores that are reading this, I did see several groups of tables with women. However, getting into and out of the restaurant requires walking through the busy, main floor of the club — there’s no separate door to get in. That may be a consideration depending on how comfortable you are with that.
