I have to give them one star because their delivery is awful. The actual delivery guy is great — really quick– but the staff on the phone often get the order wrong. Today marks my last order from Hummus Place.

I got a groupon for this place and was excited to give this place a taste with my husband. My first complaint is the service. The girls who attended us were a bit snooty and looked like they didn’t want to be bothered taking our order. Anyway, we got the hummus, falafel, vegetable soup, eggplant sandwich and babaganoush. We also got the baklava which was the only thing that had a flavor to it. I love mediterranean food, but this meal was tasteless. I was really disappointed because I would think with all the great reviews I would have enjoyed my meal. The babaganoush saved the meal and that isn’t saying much because even that was on the bland side. Never going back. I’ll just take a trip to the Village and sit in at Mamoun’s. Now they’ve got some tasty stuff there.

We went here for a late light dinner, and it totally hit the spot. The baba ganoush was fantastic, as was the labane. They were out of falafel, which was a major bummer, but they gave us a mini pizza on the house! Everything was so delicious and fresh, I wanted to go back here every day for our short trip to NYC, it was THAT good. Perhaps my only complaint is even though it wasn’t super late or terribly busy, they only had one waitress working, and she seemed stretched pretty thin managing all the tables. Service was less than stellar, but acceptable. Our waitress could have been friendlier and perhaps offered us water more than once. You really can’t beat $ 20 for two people in NYC and get something tasty, so I highly recommend it.

I’ll keep going here but this will probably be the last time I write a review of how poor the service is but that the food is so fantastic that I’ll still give it 5 stars. I went today and the eggplant pita lunch special(eggplant, pickles, egg, and hummus) which comes with a side salad and a free appetizer of your choice for 7.95 was amazing. The service was unbelievably poor. To date myself, I thought I might have been on Candid Camera, kind of poor. For you young whippersnappers, CC was like punked except that the view could relate to the people getting punked b/c they were average people and not spoiled brats without any coping mechanisms and they could manage a bizarre incident without having a genuine breakdown or revealing a character flaw so disturbing that you might rethink ever seeing or buying anything related to them again. I highly recommend this place but do not expect anything without having to ask for it repeatedly. This includes but is not limited to: *the menu *utensils *water *the pita that comes with the side(today, I asked if I was supposed to eat the labane with a spoon b/c I honestly didn’t know. The waitress said it comes with pita bread which she didn’t bring, she said she’d be right back but passed me 4 times without bringing it, each time my expression grew increasingly irritated but finally on the 5th time, the little lightbulb brought it. Mazel tov. To save time, you should ask for your check as soon as you get your food, just to set the process in motion. Be prepared to ask another 4 times. I still keep going back, it’s that good.

We ordered take-out from Hummus Place. Their trio of appetizers was a good deal. I chose the falafel, babaganoush and grape leaves. Very nice green tahini sauce to go with the falafel, and the babaganoush had the right amount of dill /herbs in it that I liked too. Oh, you have a choice of the regular(white) and whole wheat pita. Both were fine. I also tried a bit of my friend’s hummus and that was delicious as well!

This place reminded me of restaurants in Israel. Aptly named, they specialize in entrees of delicious vegetarian hummus. After pondering the to-go menu, I settled on the hummus fava, which included a hard boiled egg nestled in the hummus among other sauces. In literally less than one minute, my order was ready. I suppose there’s no cooking involved, just assembling the ingredients and toasting pita, but that’s faster than fast food! But I shouldn’t even mention fast food chains in this review because of course, the food is incomparable. I never got used to consuming an entire generous bowl of hummus in one sitting during my stay in Israel, so an order at this place(which includes two pitas) could easily be two meals for me, which is a bargain at ~$ 8. I chose whole wheat pita over white, and one peculiarity I noticed was that their bread is quite salty. Not bad, just different from plain pita bread. The cashier girls are very nice and personable. Hummus Place would definitely be a go-to Mediterranean place for me if I lived in the area.

This lil’ place in the Upper West Side had a nice ambiance with open air comfort with an interesting vegetarian Israeli menu, Having traveled extensively in the Middle East, I was quite impressed with the choices I had this evening: Hummus Place platter Stuffed grape leaves Malabi Out of all the choices, the most outstanding was the malabi… I haven’t tasted such a creamy delight in years. If you don’t know what it is, I would say it’s comparable to flan… but that would be an understatement. Personally, I would return to Hummus Place just for their malabi.

I LOVE this place. Even though it’s a chain, the food is awesome. My friend and I schedule regular dates here, and, having both been to Israel, crave authentic hummus and shakshuka. The hummus masabacha is the best thing on the menu. The shakshuka is very good — a little too tomato sauce-y but once you add the spicy green sauce(I think it’s called skhug?) the marinara effect goes away. I also get a small«health salad,» which is traditional Israeli salad — diced cucumbers, tomatoes, parsley and no lettuce. At the end of the meal, you should order the house mint tea, which is regular tea with mint leaves. Ask for some lemon to squeeze in. Also — they deliver!

Holy happy hour, batman! From Monday-Friday 4 – 6, Hummus place has a happy hour where all the alcohol on the menu is half off. A bottle of wine is eleven dollars. ELEVENDOLLARS! And it’s GOOD! It isn’t Franzia. Madness. I almost felt like I was stealing. Almost. Their hummus is pretty fantastic(which is a good thing. It’s called hummus place), as are the falafel and babaganoush. I MAY have been there two days in a row and both days the servers treated me like I was family. I’ll be back. Like, all the time.

4.5 stars because of the AMAZING people who work here! well ALMOST everyone was really great, and then there was on OK dude. But seriously, the people here are so cool! They were extremely friendly, and for some reason gave us a bunch of free stuff! :D also the girl who works the cash register is just awesome. This place is basically perfect if you want food that is wholesome and healthy in NYC, and does not cost an arm an a leg! My friend and I shared their Tahini, and I got the meatball special and she got the vegetarian couscous. My meal came with the delicious shashouka sauce that basically carried the entire meal! And my friend loved her couscous dish too, it looked really refreshing but still filling and yummy. Our tahini order didn’t come with any pita bread, but one of the waiters gave it to us for free! He was probably the owner or manager, he was SOFRIENDLY. And if you’re health conscious, you can choose whole wheat or white pita bread. At the end of the meal, they even gave us free mint tea! The owner kept checking to see that we were doing OK, and seemed to really make an effort for his customers. The whole atmosphere is really relaxed and perfect for a meal with friends, and it feels really clean which is a big plus for me. I could tell by the restroom :) I have a huge thing for clean bathrooms, ESPECIALLY in NYC. They also had really good drink deals which caught my eye, and wine too! I love how their ingredients are simple and light, yet super YUMMY. I will definitely be back here!!!

Weird vibe. Strong musty smell. It was kind of late, so I checked their hours before heading out. Even though it was over an hour before their posted closing time, it was a little too obvious that the staff didn’t want us there. We were in and out before closing and saw them turn people away. But, no complaints about the food — I liked everything, some more than others but it was all good. The 3-appetizer combo and an order of mushroom hummus was more than enough for 2 people. My favorite was the roasted eggplant, and I would definitely add the health salad to any order. The Mediterranean Mojito had a wonderful flavor, but it’s more of a slush than an actual drink. I wish the menu said it was a frozen drink or that they’d make a non-frozen version. I’d go back for take out.

Came here with a few friends and enjoyed it. Started with the falafel appetizer and thought it was a decent size(5 falafel balls) but could have used a little more sauce. For my main meal I had the Shakshuka Halumi and it was really good. The halumi cheese was just the right saltiness to compliment the tomato/vegetables and eggs. I also tried the hummus and while it was good, I felt it was missing something. The flavor wasn’t strong enough for me. Also, I felt the menu was definitely lacking a few options. Next time I’ll get the health salad with the meal b/c I heard it was pretty tasty.

This is another Middle-Eastern quick meal type of place I’ve been to. Food is inexpensive and the staples are pretty good. Falafels are over cooked in my experience but their other vegetarian sandwiches and platters are pretty good.

I used to be a big fan of Hummus Place, but the last few times I stopped by I’ve been a little disappointed. It’s really a shame, because I love Middle Eastern food and the casual, hole in the wall atmosphere they have there. I recently got the health salad, the quinoa salad, and the vegetable soup. The health salad was OK, but at $ 6 for a pint, it’s rather expensive. The quinoa salad was poorly prepared, as evidenced by the 75% parsley content. Where the quinoa guys? It’s no fun to eat parsley with a sprinkling of quinoa, it should be the other way around. Finally, the soup had a nice broth to it, but it was clear that it had been sitting around all day as soon as I saw the vegetables which were a falling apart mush. It’s a shame that their very small menu is packed with disappointing choices. Actually, the hummus is great here, but it would be nice to have some sides and salads that were equally great to go with it.

After the gym grub here is first rate. 10 bucks worth of apps totally kill the crave. The stuffed grape leaves, the falafel, and babaganoush. Boom! Revived! Ready to go! Warmed stuffed grape leaves with a minty but not sweet yogurt sauce… oh yea! The eggplant and tahini marriage in the baba-g…Preach… Five falafel balls to dip… you know u wanna… The place is clean. The wait staff is attentive without smothering. I totally prefer the Hummus Place over Maoz. At least I do not SEE the workers wiping the counter and throwing the remainders back on top of the large heaping pile of sandwich toppings. The counter folk remind me of the plastic people on the«Black Hole Sun» video, ready to ring up the next sucker… Grrrr!

Still stellar food here and now they’ve added online ordering for both delivery and pick-up. Be aware that it takes about 10 minutes from ordering before they get and start working on your order. Give it about 15 minutes to pick up, or a little more for delivery. How can you beat their lunch deal for less than $ 9 after tax.

Yay! I’m a fan. At lunch they have a 3 appetizers for $ 10 special… and let’s face it, when you’re at a mediterranean place you really want a bunch of small plates anyway. Dolmas, baba ghanoush, falafel, hummus, etc. It’s all good here. Just go crazy, and be careful with that hot sauce… it’s bolder than you might think!

I know this place is a chain in the city, and I don’t usually review chains, but wow… their hummus is amazing! We ordered the mushroom hummus and licked the plate spotless. Their pita is wonderful, too – fresh, warm, and slightly crispy. Attention health freaks… available in whole wheat, too! Also props for their mint tea, which actually was just black tea with fresh mint sprigs… but delicious and calming nevertheless. I’m so starting to do that at home now. For an insanely affordable price(like 8 bucks or so?), we were also able to sample three sides… we went for the dolmas, eggplant, and falafel, which was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Contrary to my earlier health bid on this place, something tells me that something this tasty cannot be healthy… I suspect they use a lot of oil in their cooking. Hopefully olive oil though. I think this location was just opened recently; as such, the ambiance is clean, but a little sterile/boring. The server was really nice, but didn’t really seem to know the ropes of the cash register yet. We waited a really long time for our bill. I’m sure she’s already improved since then, though, so I’d still recommend the place if you’re in area and need to satisfy your hummus hankering. I’d definitely check out any of the other locations if I was in the ‘hoods.
