Never knew halal food could taste so fresh and authentic, and I’ve done tasted the best of the best(queens). The meat was so flavorful and fresh the rice was yummy there white sauce is average. The hot sauce is still a hot as I remember it I love the salad and pita that comes with platter it cuts through all the flavors as well as the spice; I’ll be back to bad I live all the way in the bx. Ordering process is quick and swift and the staff is very nice and friendly.

I love their gyros. Or as New Yorkers like to say«juh-i-rho». FYI it’s properly pronounced something like close to «yeeh-ro». But I won’t judge. When you’re going on a hungry drunken rampage through the city, the lamb gyro with the white sauce is a pretty solid choice. The lamb is precooked but heated on site, but remains juicy and tastes fairly fresh. Conveniently packed in tin foil for an easy carry and eat meal, you can’t really go wrong.

There are so many halal food carts in this city. Even though I’ve already visited The Halal Guys Cart in Midtown, I still felt compelled to try this brick & mortar location. The chicken over rice is as good as I remember. I just don’t really like long grain rice. It is not my favorite kind of rice. I think it tastes a little chewy. Still, this place is nice and clean. I got my order pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon. It’s also good to know they’re open until 4AM everyday, for those late night hunger pains. The small-sized platter($ 7) was plenty for me. Also, I asked for both white & red sauces on the side. They packed up my order to go with a bunch of sauce packets. That’s convenient. I wonder what other foods I can try with these sauces. Side note: Does anyone know what these sauces are called or do they just go by the name of the color?

my first Halal Guys experience was on 53rd&6th at their food truck, this is before they had one on every corner and the line wrapped around the block! This place is just amazing! you will get what you order every single time! Consistency is Key! the Red and White sauce mixed together is very YUM too — but, be careful of the red cause — it will burn your mouth off!

Never got to try the food cart, but I’m glad that they have multiple locations now. This location is clean and spacious. There is enough seating for you to dine in. I had the chicken over rice($ 7). It was great, the food taste very light and not greasy at all, but I’m not crazy about it. The halal food cart near my house is just as good. For the price they don’t pack a lot of food. So the portions aren’t that generous. Love the white sauce and the hot sauce is SPICY! A little bit is enough, unless you can take the heat. They have a soda fountain that you can refill your drinks and there is a bathroom for customers.

I have been here a few times and the food has always been consistently good. I always get the small plate of the mixed meat option which is lamb and chicken over rice with lettuce tomato and of course how can you forget the white sauce! It’s literally the star of the show! Proceed with caution when it comes to the red sauce less is DEFINITELY more when it comes to this«breathing dragon fire» condiment. It isn’t really spicy but the level of heat sets off an instant fire in your mouth which will take awhile to subside(and I consider myself to have a very high tolerance/like of hot/spicy foods) I would advise to ask for the hot sauce packets so that you can adjust the level of heat to your liking. The large portion can easily serve 2 maybe even 3 people. Huge plus? They are open till 4am! So whether you are looking for a late night meal or some hangover food this is definitely the place to go!

So baaaasically… I fly to New York for the chicken and rice. And my best friend Brandon. But mooooooostly, for the chicken and rice. I can’t say that too often because then people start getting offended but it all started when Brandon and I were waiting in the cold, cold weather at night for this chicken and rice truck. I was like ummmm what’s so good about chicken and rice? There was this huge line and this guy laughed at all of us telling us how crazy we were. I’m like look homie, I’m a foodie for real and if that means waiting in a damn blizzard for chicken and rice, then that’s what’s gonna happen. It was then time! I added my white sauce and red sauce and ohhh my wow! I think it’s the rice. hmmm And the chicken! IT’S SOGOOD! And the staff is really nice too. I hear that they are coming to SF. Yay! It’s like chicken and rice without the blizzard. The second time, we went to the brick and mortar site, and it was still just as good. Except my friend made me get my own because I make it too spicy. Oh and the pita bread is so soft and delicious(even the next day!) I also went for a run somewhere near the Hudson River and it was gorgeous. The chicken and rice was a great reward after!

We stumbled across this place while staying in the upper west side. I had heard about this spot and having just come back from a Mediterranean trip… Clearly had not had enough Mediterranean food. I ordered chicken over rice plate… I gotta say, it doesn’t look that great in the platter, but boy is it delicious. The veggies, the rice, plus that sauce! I had them add extra red sauce because I like it spicy!

When people line up at the Halal cart there is this feeling of quiet camaraderie and togetherness, something like«hey guys, it is 4 am, we are doing this right now together and I love you all.» While that feeling is pretty much completely absent from this brick and mortar version of the legendary food cart there is still something here that reminds you of this brotherhood, of this ridiculous, sad, fleeting NYC version of love. The food is just as good. You can see people in here, their eyes rimmed with tears, eating white sauce smothered schwarma. I personally recommend just getting the chicken bc I like it more than the lamb, but tbh I am sure if you ignore me and order the lamb you will be super happy. Anyway, come here and know that I would stand with you reader, I would be there with you if I could, and we would pretend to be outside, and I would get an umbrella and open it, and one of us might laugh softly, the way people do in movie theaters.

It just feels weird to eat this stuff in a restaurant rather than on the side of a road by the cart, but the quality, value, and addictive quality of the chicken is the same in both locations. The fries, while nothing special, were generous in portion size. I haven’t tried anything but the chicken with the white sauce and rice, and I don’t really see a reason to, but my dining companions enjoyed their lamb, too, though I don’t know how they tasted anything with all that hot sauce.

#I’m not sure if this is any better than the Midtown cart based on my memory, but who knows. I do know that the #Halal Guys hot sauce is frickin’ spicy. I’m rarely ever in any #Upper side, but I came here and coincidentally two of my friends walked in to eat. One of them got hot sauce and they surely douse it if you say you want it. She couldn’t handle it. She was in tears. I, on the other hand knew it was #spicy, so I asked for a little. They gave me just a tiny bit, which looks like so little and I almost was like #dude, give me more, but it was just right. So that’s why I give 4 stars! …“They Know” –Ben Carson

Went back a second time with my friend to give this place another shot since my first experience didn’t go so well due to the lamb being way too salty. So instead I ordered the chicken and it was really good. Now this is probably this best halal spot around in my opinion. Everything is seasoned very well. The server kind of over did it with the white sauce. But thats okay. The man who served us was very nice. It was really late so he gave us a large platter and charged us for a regular size. Awesome. I’ll be returning for sure.

The Halal Guys restaurant is exactly what is right with the world. It’s a counter service place. Just walk in and say exactly what you want. The menu basically tells you how to order. It’s the perfect meal for the perfect price. My sister and I both got platters and drinks and we came in under $ 20. Worth every single penny too. I’ve been to plenty of restaurants in NYC, and this one is definitely in my top 3 favorites that I’ve visited. Oh, and white sauce. Get. The. White. Sauce. You won’t regret it.

So I’m probably the last person in New York to try the halal guys(of the 53rd and 6th cart fame), but I happened to be on the Upper West Side, so I finally got to try their food from their brick and mortar location. Their menu is simple, but as a bread fiend, I decided to order the gyro pita, which was quickly wrapped and doused in yogurt sauce. I really enjoyed my sandwich as a whole. The gyro meat was really flavorful, and the yogurt sauce was fantastic. Lettuce and tomato are the additions here — you won’t find any obnoxious raw onion. However, my favorite element was the vinegary hot sauce, which was spicy! I only asked them to dribble a little on there, since I didn’t want to it to overpower the flavors, but the hot sauce really is essential. My only complaint is that the pita bread could have been a little bit softer and fresher, but otherwise, a solid spot.

The food is very good. I think it is slightly better from the cart. My big complaint here is not the taste or the quantity but the size of the meat. The meat seems to be cut up much smaller here. It has the same taste. The truly best part of the Halal Guys is the white sauce. It is SO much thicker compared to the rest of the carts in the city. The sauce is amazing. You definitely get a better bang for the buck from the cart but I am willing to pay extra to have a nice air conditioned or heated place to eat

Nice store location, love the décor and line moves fast. As far as the food, it’s very very very oily! I know Halal guys isn’t the healthiest, but I felt this location in particular had tons of oil in the food. I’d recommend sticking to the original cart on 6th. Service was good and store was clean. Only complain as mentioned was the amount of oil present in the food.

Great alternative to halal guys location on 53rd. The chicken/lamb over rice is the same and they even have packets of the hot sauce to go. And best of all, there are seats available to sit down and eat. I don’t think there’s much of a wait compared to the one on 53rd. They also have other stuff on the menu like falafel and gyro sandwiches. Haven’t tried them but I’m sure it’s good. I just love Halal guys chicken over rice. I’m always craving for more. And be warned, spicy sauce is very spicy.

Came to this location after years of frequenting the original Halal guys location on 6th Ave & W 53rd St. This place basically tastes the same for the most part, but in all honestly I think the original location is better. Unfortunately this place and the cart locations don’t carry lamb anymore. The best combination was the chicken and lamb but a worker told me that it’s too expensive and difficult to get, so for now it’s off them menu until further notice… Such a bummer. This location doesn’t cook their meats fresh to order but when you order they already have the meat precooked and in a warmer. Probably because it doesn’t get as busy as the original locations. They package the food in reuseable/microwaveable plastic containers and not the traditional tin trays. White sauce and red sauces come in pre package sauce packets which is convenient. If you ask them to they’ll put your veggies in a separate container so if you have to reheat the food the veggies don’t get soggy. This place also has desserts that are made fresh daily. I really enjoyed the baklava not too sweet and crispy flaky pyo dough. Plenty of seating available inside the restaurant. Restroom is nice and clean. But what sets them aside from other halal guy locations is they deliver! This location is closer to my sisters house and is also open late, I’m sure I’ll be returning in the area.

J’ai commandé un plat au poulet avec du poulet, riz, sauce blanche et salade. C’était pas mal vraiment pas cher mais pas non plus exceptionnel.
