I had the most thoroughly amazing time at Talia’s Steakhouse last night! First, I must say, we sat outside with my dog on a lovely cool-breeze low-humidity evening and everyone was in a good mood, so it may have created an unusual situation, but, everyone(the clientele & the service) were incredibly warm and welcoming and attentive and appreciative. The starting complementary garlic-herb butter with warm pita is wonderful, and they had no problem bringing us a second basket(they actually offered it), which was awesome, because most places nowadays charge a few bucks for bread and butter which pales in comparison! Then we shared an evening special, grilled half eggplant with tahini which was amazing. And my veal chop – which I forgot to order medium rare so it came out medium – was so incredibly juicy and tender, but my one complaint for the whole evening out of everything we ordered was that the snow peas which came along with this dish were not cleaned properly in trimming: they did not remove the touch chewy string /vein. But this main course, over all, was really wonderful, and the mushrooms as a side dish were really comfortingly delicious. Unfortunately I had no room for dessert, and splitting a lot of wine knocked me out on the subway ride home, but I will remember my experience here very fondly and will definitely recommend it to friends, and will surely be returning soon.

I’ve passed by Talia’s many times as I live very close by — and last night I wanted to try it, as it always smells very nice from the street. The food is definitely okay/good, but the service is slow, rude and very little charming. I’d not recommend it to anyone, other than for take-out maybe, as the food was quite good. However, it took couple of tries before we received what we’d ordered.

Friendly service and nice overall but unnecessarily weak in a few areas: Filet mignon was grilled too hot on the exterior and was practically raw on the interior. That’s not medium, which is what I’d asked for. The spinach risotto wasn’t very well prepared — neither creamy nor especially tasty, and a little underdone. Salad was good. Cauliflower appetizer was good. Delicious pita to start, with a nice pesto oil dip and also herbed butter(pareve). What’s good is good. What’s weak is fixable.

We had a celebratory dinner for 17 friends and family. I made all of the arrangements by phone then I went to dinner one evening just to test it out. The place has a very European bistro feel. The food is straightforward, simple but very fresh and tasty. Most of our group are excellent cooks so can be picky but all enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. The manager and servers seemed invested in wanting us to have a great experience. We did! Almost everyone cleaned their plates. Portions are generous! Overall a very good time and excellent value.

Excellent food and excellent service! 5 stars ! Went for my wife’s birthday we had the prime rib for 2 — it was so tender and juicy — one of the best steaks I have eaten. We were served with a smile and food came out quickly ! We defiantly go again !

Came here for a Passover Seder(2016). However, they were utterly unprepared for the early seating(5:30). It was promoted as a fully-organized Passover Seder and meal. However, they didn’t have Haggadahs! They couldn’t find them in storage. Fortunately, we brought our own. Additionally, there was a significant delay(~50 min) of the food… until somebody eventually arrived with a new batch of Haggadahs for the remaining patrons. The delay as expected, caused the early Seder to overlap into the later seating… thus putting pressure on us to rush through it. They also had forgotten to deliver the Seder plate, and parsley and salt water to our table. It was eventually brought out after we requested it. The servers were apologetic and nice enough, and unfortunately took the brunt of the problems that were clearly due to poor management and lack of preparedness. Finally, they had also promised that the Seder would be loosely conducted with song, prayer and direction. However, although the later Seder was led, the early Seder was not. Not such a big deal since we knew what we were doing, but still… The food was sufficient. Well prepared and tasty. «Next Year in…» well, not here.

Another kosher restaurant that is borderline to a full fledged scam. The prices are INSANE, which I usually don’t mind if the food is excellent. But my Moroccan salmon was gross and the mashed potatoes disgusting and dripping, as was the entire presentation. My son had steak(close to $ 50) and he had to send it back to the kitchen twice — never came out right. He ended up not eating it and going home hungry. As if it was not enough, they had a singer with a sound level that made any conversation impossible. Oh, and wait… it is a pretty large place yet they have only ONE bathroom. Yep! So be prepared to wait in a long line… I will NEVER go back to that restaurant. I felt insulted. Reading other reviews, I see that we were not, by far, the only ones to have had a horrible experience. Generally speaking, I find it mesmerizing that places like this or Prime Grill(same caliber) are packed with patrons and are still in business. I just don’t get it… Probably there are not enough kosher restaurants, so most people have no choice.

I’ve been at Talia’s at least 5 times over the past year. The food is OK to good, but the service is awful. The food takes forever to come and the servers are consistently making mistakes and challenging their customers Tonight, we had a family dinner there. It took over hour for the first person to get his meal. Then, one item came out every 10 minutes, meaning no one ate together. Worst of all, the food for most of the kids came out last, which made them cranky, and then we realized that the waitress never even took an order for our 7 year old. She never repeated the orders or confirmed that the count of mains to people was right. Our 7 year old went home crying. Overall, this experience was terrible. I wish this was isolated but or other experiences were similar.

My 2nd time around and absolutely love this place! The service is so great I have no idea how many cups of water I drank that night! Price was great for the city and food was great just had one tip! When you get the prime rib for one of you want medium well tell them medium because when they bring it they put it on a hot plate and it cooks extra! Onion rings and mezza platter was top!

I am updating this review and getting this amazing place 5 stars. Our second first here everything was 5 stars from food to service. We enjoyed live music and shared a bottle of red wine Ben Ami from Israel. I ordered lamb burger with home made onion rings and my friend had Morrrocan salmon with risotto. The meals were delicious and we were very pleased. We had crème brule for dessert. Was very good. Our server was pleasant, professional and very attentive. The overall experience was amazing and we look forward to coming back soon.

Wow. If I could leave ten positive reviews I would, and let me tell you why. When I am evaluating a restaurant, I care about two things: 1) the food(obviously), and 2) the service. 1) The food at Talia’s is good. The menu is flexible for a steakhouse and offers delicious kosher food on the upper west side in a beautiful, intimate setting. *****2) Caesar, Caesar… CAESAR! What service! This gentleman is an all star and really knows how to treat his clients. As a frequenter and local of the City, I know what good service is, I know what average service is and I know what below average service. It is people like Caesar and the Talia’s staff that reminds me what EXCELLENT service is. I’ve brought friends and family to Talias, and the entire staff(and obviously a fine gentleman by the name of Caesar is often at the helm) has made my experiences beyond worthwhile. I appreciate the delicious food and impeccable service and will continue to frequent the establishment for sure. Thank you Talia’s!

Came here four times with the legendary groupon. Steaks tasted delicious, wine was good, mashed potatoes were perfection(got a side of fried onions and put ‘em on top). Ambiance is very nice. You can even sit outside on a warm day. I’m very picky when it comes to food and I’d come back in a second. We got so much food and the service was great.

I enjoyed this place today with my husband to be and maid of honor. We had the lamb lollipops to start. Not a fav at all. It tasted overcooked and like lamb imitation. Luckily the triangular breads and the seasoned butter was awesome! We all ate steak… duh, steakhouse. And i enjoyed the prime rib. My friend had the cast iron 8oz and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and we all ordered different temperatures! It was great. We shared a bottle of red rioja that was pretty good. I would go back. Though we were very close to another table, everything made it feel intimate. Or waitress was nice and accommodating.

A friend of mine recommended I visit Talia’s while I was in New York as there is a Groupon. I was told it wasn’t the best steak dinner I’d ever have, but it wasn’t horrible. Prior to purchasing the Groupon I did a Unilocal search and saw the issues people had with the restaurant. After reading a few reviews I talked with my friend about them. She told me it would be fine and I decided to go ahead and get it because my friend is very picky. Sigh… My feelings about this place are mixed. The food overall was fine — minus my hamburger being vastly under-cooked. When I could finally find our waitress I sent it back. The BBQ Brisket, however, was quite tasty. The service sucked, which was a common complaint mentioned on Unilocal. At first I thought we had escaped the poor service curse, but not so much. After our order was taken it felt as though our waitress disappeared for long periods of times. At the end of the day, the Groupon might be a cheaper way to go; however, I’ll be happy to spend the extra money on a better meal.

This is a multi-faceted review with few. .. actually only one highlight, our server Christa(I think her name was). To start off, street parking was pretty easy. We were greeted and seated by the manager that day, he was rude obnoxious and arrogant. He had(if you can imagine), the classic Italian New Yorker attitude portrayed in older Hollywood movies. Almost like an Andrew Dice Clay mini mentality. So me and my wife were seated and no one greeted or spoke to us for the next 15 minutes until I asked a passing employee(which oddly, many had walked right by us, maybe 10 times and never said a word) if someone would be serving us today. At this point they have about 4 other occupied tables in the restaurant and at least two servers that I saw. Basically, it was dead there. After I asked that we be served a waitress final came over, again I think her name was Krista/Christa. After she spoke to us, the hostesses came over and in an accusatory tone had asked if we had seated ourselves here because she had no record of us being seated. Now mind you, we completely front and center on the sidewalk/patio table in front of the two main doors that are side open, and the hostess passed us 3 – 4 times as we waited to be greeted by a server. Anyway, I replied that your manager had seated us. .. she walked away saying nothing as she left. Overall, everyone was rude and almost condescending to us, but our server. Finally, we were able to place our order. The wait time was extreme and once the food arrived at our table it was obviously overcooked…our medium rare to medium steaks were just under well done. I predicted they would be overcooked to my wife based on how long they were taking to get out of the kitchen, and sure enough they were way overcooked. I ordered the Cast Iron Pan-Seared Filet Mignon(9 oz) for $ 49 and my wife ordered the Grilled Ribeye(10 oz) for $ 38. .. these steaks were not even close to being worth what we paid. These were not much better than industrial grade steaks. My wife’s ribeye was full of fat and just not a cut that would justify that kind of cost. My filet was overcooked, overpriced, plain, tasteless and bland. The fries were OK, my wife’s mashed potatoes were terrible too, very bland, tasteless and the consistency was wrong, they were runny. The whole experience was pretty gross all the way around. Our server apologized several times and we made a point of NOT speaking to the manager about the issues because he had already shown himself to be rude and arrogant. I DONOT recommend this restaurant unless you like bad food at an inflated price. The night before this dinner, we had eaten at Bobby Van’s and the results were completely the opposite, yet the prices were not that much different. By all means, see that review. When in New York the next time, this place is definitely off our list of places to try again, sadly, they don’t deserve a second chance from us. .. it was that bad. NOTE: I hate to say these types of things about any establishment because it is normally not the restaurant, but instead the way it is run by management.. . in this case that is definitely true. FINALNOTE: I don’t see how a business like this, with the same consistent problems and reviews can stay in business much longer

Came here with a friend on a Sunday, the day after Passover ended. I expected that things would be a bit slow because of the readjustment after the holiday, but it was worse than I had expected. We were seated after 20 minutes of waiting. We were immediately ready to order because we knew what we wanted but it was another 15 minutes before we were asked for our orders. They brought a bread basket, with ONE slice of bread for two people(which seemed to be the norm when I looked around at the other tables) with something that resembled garlicy margarine but tasted horrible and had an even worse aftertaste. After 45 minutes of waiting and many apologizes, we finally got our app of sweet bbq wings and they were not good. They were not fresh at all and were overcooked. We both ordered prime beef burgers, which were not cooked the way that we had asked for them and were both missing the fixins said to be included with the burger like pickles and onions. We were told that they ran out and some things were unavailable due to the holiday, but I dont know they dont have tomatoes and onions. Onion rings also came with the burgers and they were just terrible. They were so oily and it was unappetizing. The manager was running around the whole time with no idea what he was doing. The waitstaff were great, but it was obvious that they were being overworked because the restaurant was packed beyond capacity and they were making mistakes such as bringing dishes to the incorrect tables and forgetting to bring things to the table. All in all, I would never come back here. Management needs to get it together and improve the food quality and the service.
