Nothing was tasty enough. The appetizer meatball, mushroom pasta and the farmer sandwich –fatty but no salt-. No alcohol in bloody mary. Location is incredible though. Food and service –disaapointment.

Perfect quaint neighborhood café for breakfast and coffee. They serve French press coffee. The apple pancakes are fantastic and unique. The sausage is lean and fresh.

This one of the most popular brunch spots in the City, and they don’t take reservations. So unless you don’t mind waiting, my recommendation is to show up between 8−10am. Great outdoor seating, or a sort of farmhouse décor with baskets of produce everywhere if you sit inside. Everything on the menu is really good. My favorite being the pumpkin pancakes. Omelettes are also a specialty. Service is friendly, but the staff are definitely rushed off their feet, so you might have to ask a couple times if you need them to bring the salt…

This restaurant is a mixed bag for me. I went on the recommendation of a friend who said I had to try the pumpkin pancakes. The service wasn’t horrible, but the staff was curt. I don’t need over the top fake smiles from my server, but I shouldn’t know what’s going on behind the scenes either. The hostess made it a point to let us know that she was letting us sit upstairs despite not having a reservation. I understand that some places need reservations and that’s fine, but if you can’t seat is just say so. Now the food. The French press coffee was ok but not great. The pumpkin pancakes were amazing! I would definitely return just for those The décor is shabby country chic which gives it s homey feel. If you’re in the area stop by but hopefully with a reservation!

My boyfriend and I came for early breakfast so there was no line. We ordered the omelettes and they were okay. Nothing special. The cornbread with apple filling was wonderful though. Fresh squeeze orange juice could have been colder but otherwise very home-y and lovely place to have breakfast. Felt like I was in someone’s home and it was very cozy. Also loved the plating of the food which came in skillet pans.

Friend of A Farmer has a great reputation as a go-to Manhattan brunch location, and for good reason: blocks from Union Square & flatiron, good food, and a cozy dining area. I’ve been here a couple of times and the food has always been objectively good. Most recently I ordered a Belgian waffle with strawberries and bananas which did not disappoint. I’ve also enjoyed their omelets, and each meal starts with some fresh-baked bread or muffins, which is a nice touch. The service is also reliably great, and even though there is usually a line during peak hours, the staff efficiently turns over the tables to make room for the next party. However, despite this restaurant’s redeeming qualities, the lack of value is its biggest detractor. One of my biggest pet peeves is spending a lot for a meal with small portions. The Belgian waffle I mentioned had a menu price of $ 15 — factor in tax and tip and we’re approaching $ 20 for maybe a 10″ diameter waffle with a sliced banana, a couple of chopped strawberries, and a tablespoon or two of syrup. I was also pretty disappointed that a small mason jar of unsweetened iced tea was $ 3.50 with no free refills. I really regretted asking for a second one after I saw the bill: $ 7 for a couple of mouth-fulls of tea. I’m sure they use quality ingredients and everything is professionally prepared, and honestly I don’t expect a huge bang for my buck at a popular Manhattan brunch spot, but if you are looking for a meal that is almost as good and which will fill you up without draining your wallet, there are a lot better value(though perhaps less aesthetically appealing) brunch options in the city to try out.

Friend of a Farmer is in a nice location off the noisy streets of Manhattan, The restaurant has a home-like feel. It was not hard to get a reservation on a weekend night and we were seated immediately upon arrival. This is not a location for groups. The table spacing is very tight(meaning you might need to ask your restaurant comrades to scoot in order to get up from your table). Noise level is tolerable. Home-like and cozy — but also very tight accommodations. The food quality was good. We enjoyed the cheese plate and avocado tartar appetizer. Our main courses of pasta, salmon and salad were all good. The service is what is off at the restaurant. We were accosted with specials while we were still settling in to our seats(and hadn’t even been offered water). Waiter returned several times asking for decisions — the restaurant was not full and there was no reason to be rushed. Overall service just wasn’t particularly good. Still worth a stop for the food.

The food is extraordinary but the service lacks on professionalism. The food is fresh and very well done, a bit over priced on the salads($ 20 for chicken salad and cheese) but besides that its all worth it. The people that seat you are super ruse with a nasty face, they don’t great you or anything. But the waiter that served us(an asian guy) was so sweet and super nice.

«Brunch is just breakfast with a hangover.» My friends seem to really love this place, but in my opinion, this place is very average. It’s always packed though. Word of mouth hype and NY’s fascination with brunch has people lining up for an hour to eat very average breakfast foods. It’s especially busy on weekends, and depending on the location of your table, the waiter can forget to come check on you. I’ve also had a few orders mixed up or completely forgotten in the past. It’s also extremely cramped in here, so maybe avoid coming with huge group.

The hostess and two bartenders were very friendly. The waiter was so condescending, rude, and strangely arrogant that we left without eating and went elsewhere. We had to laugh afterwards because of the startling mass of reviewers who state their experience at FOAF was also ruined by poor service. As a result, the owner should consider changing the name to «Enemy of a Farmer». For $ 40/plate, I promise you can find other restaurants very close by who will treat you great and serve delicious food without acting like they are the second coming. Note: this experience occurred during the week, at dinner service for which we had a reservation and the restaurant was not busy at all

I had been wanting to come to FoF for a while, but since I was temporarily living out of state, it had to wait. But it was worth it ! Like many brunch places in the city, FoF doesn’t do reservations. They don’t even ask for names and give you time estimates. Rather, you queue up outside and they call the next table when there’s space. Since we were only two, we didn’t have to wait long(5 – 10 mins on a Saturday !). The food was fantastic. I got the crab benedict and shared blueberry pancakes with my friend. Both were excellent. I also got a cucumber mint mojito(yes at 10am) and it was very good. Would come back again.

Loved it here! Very cute & relaxing atmosphere. To start, I got here around 10 and there was already a bit of a line, but if you are a party of 1 or 2, make sure to skip the line and see if there’s room at the bar top. I ordered the Buckleys omelet with hash potatoes. Food was great and service was very quick. If you love all things spicy, be sure to order their homemade hot sauce, very hot but perfect for the potatoes. All around, the place was great! Be sure to visit!

This restaurant was a short walk from our hotel and received high marks for brunch from my guy’s sister. We were able to get right in on a Saturday night which is very exciting in the city without reservations. The interior is a refinished home looking venue with the country wall paper and small dining spaces upstairs and down. We were seated upstairs and it is hard to navigate around the tables and I had to go to the restroom to wash my hands. There was a line but, a very nice server offered me to wash my hands in their sink which was right on the side of the line and I took him up on the offer. High marks for great service there. Our server was prompt to greet us and we ordered the avocado tartar served with homemade citrus pita chips as an appetizer. The appetizer was thick, hearty and very well seasoned. The chips were most definitely homemade and the aftertaste of citrus on them lingered well with the avocado. The wine selection was great however, we decided on the sangria which was refreshing and delicious. I chose the infused basil & garlic pasta as my entrée and I wasn’t disappointed. The pasta was obviously homemade, light and went well with the sauce served on the dish. The portion sizes were large for the price and the overall experience would make me return to dine with them again.

Friend of a Farmer is a spectacular, farmhouse styled restaurant located in the ultra posh Gramercy Park neighborhood. The place really exudes the feeling of being in the countryside, and true to its name everything here is super fresh right from the farmer’s market. They even decorate the place with fresh, real produce including baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables all around the restaurant. I came here for breakfast and had a king’s feast. I started off with my default favorite Eggs Benedict. The eggs were beautifully poached, with the yolks warm and flowing over the ham and English muffin slices. The dish also came with a huge serving of roasted potatoes, so much so that I couldn’t finish them. As you all know, I’m an egg addict. This morning my addiction was at a 15LOL. I ordered not one, but two orders of scrambled eggs. Both orders came out really nice and fluffy, and I could detect just a slight amount of creaminess to the eggs. Everything here was absolutely superb, including the courteous service. I would definitely recommend coming here for brunch. ** Also, I just want to say RIP to Prince. He was another great music legend that left this world too soon.**

It was okay. I understand health– but the late could have been more seasoning placed in the mix. Crowded, so get here at a good time. The apple pancakes are great! Quiche is pretty decent. Cottage-style b&b. I originally gave them 3 stars but I’m taking one off because they asked us to leave after 10 minutes after eating. We paid a decent amount– weird to be shuffled out. Won’t come back.

5 stars for the hostess and the waitress, all very nice and even sat us prior to all of our party being there! 5 stars for the price and the cornbread… I definitely ate 80% of it even though there were two other people I was supposed to share with. 4 stars for the food :(, the farmers omelet looked great, quiche of the day was GREAT, but I got the salmon scramble and was disappointed. My advice, order something else. The salmon did not taste great and there wasn’t much cream cheese or scallions. Overall a very cute place for brunch… Beware though. No weekend brunch reservations! We got there on a Sunday at 9:30am and the line was just starting to form.

Dining here makes you feel as though you were at an inn in Vermont — which in the city is definitely a refreshing feeling. Incredibly cozy and calming. Brunch is great. Split two of their signature sandwiches; The Farmer and The Rose Club. Both fantastic, but The Farmer wins and is one of their staple menu items. Place is always packed on the weekends and does not take reservations. So be warned, you may wait a while. Staff is friendly and attentive. Menu is a bit pricey, but for the quality of the food and the tranquil atmosphere… it’s worth the money.

Very good first experience! They don’t take reservations for brunch. I went with a friend around 11. There was a line. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. The host was very friendly and employed humor to ease the larger parties who had been waiting awhile. They had a pretty good system in place to organize who gets seated when. At a place like this, you really can’t get a sense of how long it will take to get seated, as some will linger ordering mimosas and Bloody Marys. We opted for a spot in the bar area looking out the window. Our waiter was knowledgeable and checked in on us regularly. We tried a sweet and tart apple sangria with a cinnamon stick. It was delicious. I had the salmon bennie. Our waiter said that was one of his favorites, and I agree that it a wonderful fresh and savory dish. The potatoes were nicely seasoned. My friend enjoyed the Mac and cheese with bacon. I would recommend either dish and look forward to returning soon.

I was so disappointed by my dinner here. I love the concept and the space they’re in right by Gramercy Park, but that’s where the positivity ends. Atmosphere: tables were all incredibly close together. I also overheard the hostess and a waiter arguing, which led to an awkward moment when I had to walk in between them. Food: nothing to rave about, but not bad. The couple next to me voiced that they were really unhappy with the portion size(both got a fish dish, which was on the smaller side). The complimentary corn bread was downright bad-very dry and completely tasteless. Despite ordering a large salad and a side, I left still hungry. Service: I was in and out in under thirty minutes, and as such I felt rushed. When I requested a modification of an item on the menu, my waiter said this was not possible when it should have been an easy swap. I really wanted to like this cute little spot, but it was unimpressive.
