pretty sure this place is closed and it’s pretty upsetting that a Tiramisu Concept could not catch on in NYC :((see article here: ) Had a great visit when i came here, tried three different types of Tiramisu and they were all superb. The only problem was i was by myself so you can imagine for the next few hours i was wired!!! Tiramisu in Italian means«Pick Me Up» it’s basically the coffee but it’s dessert. I had the Classic, Nutella(which was superb) and the Orange Espresso which was definitely and interesting blend of flavors. I am truly shocked that this place could not maintain a strong following or stay hoping, especially since NYC has so many Niche Food spots.

This place is closed! trekked here with a friend on a super hot day after a quick perusal of Unilocal failed to reveal that it was closed. Thought i’d write this to those who decide to come here in the future to save them from an equally disappointing journey.

Decent coffee and dessert shop located close to subway and path. I have been couple of times late in the evening to get espresso shots. The espresso is just ok. The staff behind the counter is courteous and attentive. I will be back to try more from their dessert menu.

Tirimisu with a creative twist. Dolce Vizio specializes in artisanal versions of your favorite Italian espresso dessert, adding chocolate, fruit, and nuts. They also do coffee. Wasn’t the best tirimisu ever, but definitely fun for a date or afternoon snack. Things are tasty and sweet. Its definitely novel and cute, but I’m not sure that the concept is strong enough to stand alone in the neighborhood for long.

Not to be repetitive(i.e. reflecting what others said about tiramisu) but probably the best tiramisu in the city with a bazillion flavors(ok probably not that many) so you can indulge with all of your senses. Don’t be greedy unless your sharing. So a small($ 4.50) should do. Complement that with a caffeinated drink, grab a friend, and talk away.

One of the few dessert places where they are solely dedicated to serving Tiramisu-only. I wanted coffee and was gonna head to PATH café but after seeing the café itself from outside, wasn’t too interested so decided to come here after I saw that they served Iced Coffee. They have a wide variety of different Tiramisus: Raspberry Coffee Caramel Orange Espresso Granola Pineapple Nutella Classic Mango Prices are: Small $ 4.50 Large: $ 7.00 Cake: $ 39.00 I got the large Orange Espresso Tiramisu and a small Iced Coffee and the total came out to $ 8.85. The Tiramisu was fantastic, not overwhelmingly sweet and the texture was really good. Iced Coffee was not bad but nothing really to talk about. The cashier guy/girl are Italian I believe cuz I heard accents when they spoke English and they were attentive and friendly. Overall, not a bad place to stop by for a while and just relax.

I cannot believe Unilocalers have given this place a majority 5 and 4 star rating. For a place that prides itself on being the 1st tiramisu bar in the country and specializes in tiramisu, Dolce Vizio’s main offering majorly disappoints. Original Tiramisu: the best of the 3 I tried, but still not that good. Dry cake, cream on top seemed to melt everywhere. The best way to describe this is a plain yellow cake in a Tiramisu-style, not an authentic piece of tiramisu. Nutella: Sadly, the most disappointing. You can taste a little bit of Nutella in the airy mousse topping the tiramisu, but not enough. It tasted like store-bought hazelnut chocolate birthday cake. Caramel & Coffee: The cream on this cake seemed to melt everywhere as well. I couldn’t really taste the coffee or the caramel, just a cake with runny frosting that tasted sweeter than usual. Hot Chocolate: DONOTGETTHIS. extremely watery with a weird chemical aftertaste, topped with nutella whipped cream, which sounds much better than it actually tasted. It was clearly made from poor quality cocoa powder(I’ve had Swiss Miss better than this). Service was lackluster; had it been worse, I would have no qualms giving this place 1 star. Décor is decent, like a plain café. So disappointed in this place. I left feeling cheated and lied to. My search for good tiramisu continues…

Three words: nutella whipped cream. You not sold yet? If not, there’s something wrong with you, but I’ll elaborate. Imagine a piping hot cup of hot chocolate topped with a swirl of airy nutella-infused whipped cream, dusted with cacao and paired with crunchy macaroons. Are you drooling yet? Thought so. Also, the waitress was a doll and gave me the recipe for the nutella whipped cream so… yea. awesome.

Fun little Tiramisu place in the Village The fruit flavors were surprisingly good, especially the Mango. We’ve tried every flavor and can’t go wrong with any of them. Warm contemporary décor, great place to stop in for a sweet break. Owner was very friendly too.

Everyone should have a tiramisu story. I have two. One involves a successful attempt to transport an entire tray of the heavenly dessert from Rome to Vienna. And the other my first encounter with a non-traditional, raspberries and mascarpone version of a tiramisu that was one of the best I’ve tasted outside of Italy. For those who have yet to have an experience worth retelling, Nadia Tadé and Alessandro Radici are happy to oblige at their 3 month old Dolce Vizio. It is the couple’s tribute to the tiramisu and their sweet gift to New Yorkers. Here one can indulge on the classic flavors of cocoa and coffee as well as more modern interpretations of the confection. With the help of Chef Fabrizio Ferrari from their hometown of Bergamo, they scoured Italy for the different variations of tiramisu. And so we find limoncello, orange and espresso, mango, nutella, and raspberries of course. The result is a place where even a veteran tiramisu lover will have a new discovery and a new experience to tell. Adding to this is the fact that patrons can also have the option of putting together their own combination of ingredients to create a unique tiramisu of their own. Getting to make your own version of tiramisu is a fun thing but for your first visit try one of their versions first. The orange espresso is a richer and bolder sibling of the classic while the limoncello is fresh and delicate on the palate. The mango is delicious but the essence of tiramisu is lost. It feels too exotic, too foreign from Italy. In any case, you are bound to find a favorite that is best enjoyed with an espresso. Single portions are priced at $ 7 each but it’s a portion enough for two to share.

It’s whatever. I know we are supposed to come here and eat the tiramisu which I’m sure is outstanding, but the service really ticked me off. We were served like we were people annoying them. There was no cleaning of tables, no proper service, and the lady at the back was testing on her phone. I’d rather take coffee to go from Starbucks.

My coworkers and I are on a mission to find some of the very best bakeries in the neighborhood and Dolce Vizio is in our collective top 5. The mood is set when you walk through the door: there was plenty of seating between the bar against the window and the tables hugging a long bench. There was Italian music coming from the computer set behind the register and of course the display of the 6 tiramisus that they offer and the treats that you can add to your slice. There is also a nice looking espresso maker behind the counter. So far I’ve tried: Classic Tiramisu — I recommend this to anyone who is a traditionalist when it comes to desserts. It is delicate and light, perfectly sweet and creamy. It is obvious that it is made from perfected recipe from scratch and with lots of love! Nutella Tiramisu — If you are a chocolate lover this is for you. The tiramisu has a layer nutella glaze over the top and it is finished off with chocolate whipped cream! It is decadent but not overpowering. Orange Espresso Tiramisu — The cake is very soft and the orange is very noticeable. The flavors are great, but the texture threw me off a bit. I wasn’t a fan of the amount of orange zest throughout the cake. I had to keep spitting it out(into a napkin of course). But it kind of kills the experience. While it is very possible to eat an entire slice by yourself, each slice is big enough for 2 people to share and feel satisfied. I do recommend having a cappuccino with your tiramisu for the full affect.

3.5 stars… Only in NYC can there be a shop where the only food option is tiramisu. The owners are Italian so the background is certainly there. When I was there one of the owners was there and was incredibly friendly and helpful answering any questions I had. It’s a roomy place with several stools along a glass wall overlooking the at Christopher St at Hudson St. They have 6 types of tiramisu or you could make your own. Making your own is an interesting concept but really shouldn’t be called tiramisu because a true tiramisu takes time and should rest for a certain period of time. The six types are: Classic(coffee and chocolate) Lemon Raspberry Mango Orange Espresso(with a little dark chocolate) Nutella For $ 7 you get a single portion which can be a single flavor or two flavors. The value would be a lot better at $ 6 but an extra buck is acceptable, especially because their packaging is quite elegant. Amazingly they allow you to have a taste as well like it’s an ice cream shop! I was able to try the classic but ultimately wanted to try something different so I went with lemon and orange espresso. Oddly the classic is not made with any sort of alcohol, a ingredient that is almost always in an authentic tiramisu. I actually liked the taste of the classic without the booze but thought keeping it out of the mix was an interesting choice. The lemon was at the other end of the spectrum as I thought there was too much alcohol in it. Every bite had a very slight tingly sensation at the back of my throat like I had taken a tiny shot. If you like lemon and alcohol this one is for you, it’s extremely lemony. I loved the orange espresso. I was wondering if it was going to taste like coffee with a hint of orange or orange with a hint of coffee. There was no dominant flavor, it was really balanced in every way and was delicious. While I was sitting at by the window eating, the girl working there walked up to me and gave me a cup of water, how sweet was that? Now that’s what I call hospitality. I don’t even care that it was a tiny paper cup filled with room temp water, it was still nice of her. This place may not have the best, most authentic, or cheapest tiramisu in the city but what they do have is tasty desserts, a beautiful location, and good service.

I’m a huge fan of Tiramisu. I love it as much as I love bacon, cupcakes, french fries and puppies. So, when I saw this place on the news(of all places…) I knew I had to come try it. Now, I’m picky about my Tiramisu. I’ve had it in Italy, and my mom happens to make a kick ass version. So, my standards are set pretty high. We arrived 15 minutes before closing, and the staff served us and told us we could stay as long as we wanted. They let us taste the variety of flavors first. I settled on the Nutella Tiramisu… which was to die for. I should add Nutella to the list above. Everything is better with Nutella. The original was just as good… and I would come back for the Raspberry version as well. Overall, this place was fantastic. I will be coming back when I have my next tiramisu craving.

Hello, Dolce Vizio, so glad to have you in town! Now that Dolce Vizio has arrived, I am left wondering why it took so long for the Villiage to open a tiramisu bar. With all of the fabulous specialty dessert eateries around, a tiramisu bar seems so obvious, yet so GENIUS at the same time!!! Dolce Vizio offers a café-like, comfortable atmosphere that screams, «come in, relax, and enjoy your coffee and tiramisu.» The service is friendly and happily walks you through their selection and the number of ways and sizes you can order. I literally«gasped» in joy when he informed us that we could get two different types of tiramisu on one plate! We ordered two plates, one with the classic, and the other with orange espresso and nutella. Honestly, I favored the classic. All three were delicious, but the nutella was a little sweeter than I would prefer. Next time I go back, I want to try the«build your own,» and get it drenched in espresso and covered in toasted coconut(mmmmmmmhmmmmmmmmm!).

Ugh. I didn’t want to like my $ 7 tiramisu. Oh how I didn’t want to like the gimmicky, overpriced dessert bar that had just popped up in my neighborhood. But. I liked it. I hate to admit it but it was pretty good. I sampled both the classic and the nutella varieties and I enjoyed them almost as much as the tiramisu I ate during my study abroad days. Sigh, I suppose if you’re going to offer only one menu item, you better do it well. It’s wonderfully creamy, has just the right amount of coffee liqueur and the lady fingers were soaked through to the perfect point of saturation. And the nutella tiramisu had these delightful little crispy bits of chocolate that were an unexpected surprise. Good stuff. I hate myself for liking Dolce Vizio but I cannot hate on something that is legitimately delicious.

The tiramisu was probably tasty on its own, but I expect a tiramisu to have a heavier coffee liqueur flavor; the classic was a little too bland and one-note for my liking. Same for the nutella; great sweetness, but also lacked the bitter punch. I didn’t try their DIY tiramisus; prettyyy sure the ladyfingers wouldn’t get to sit around long enough to really soak up the sauce and soften up.

So I am looking forward to updating this review. I went on «Opening Day» and was suprised to see a tiny little«cash only» sign on the window, I understand however there were ZERO samples which was a little suprising for a new Italian Restaurant dedicated to only Tiramisu… I’m pretty sure if they would have given out samples, I would have gone to the ATM and went in to try a full sized dessert however they were not so I did not…

I’msorrywhat? An entire store dedicated to tiramisu? Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes. Glad to report this little gem is opening it’s café on Sat 13 Aug! Today was a pre-opening tasting. And you’d better believe I tasted every last one … for«research». Classic with creamy zing of liqueur tempered by cream and cocoa on spongey cake. Chocolate orange, which is tangy and sweet, decorated with swirls of chocolate. Raspberry with coffee liqueur just. worked. Almost as well as the crisp, sweet mango tiramisu. I love the bubbly sounds of the owners and staff speaking and laughing in Italian. It was to this music that I plotted which one to bring next weekend to my bestie’s bday. You’re welcome in advance.
