Calling for a reservation is painful. Wish they would fix their phone — you either get a Verizon message or no voicemail. Will the service be inconsistent too?

Nice little place in Greenwich Village. I had the pasta bolognese, which had great flavor. I think I was the first person there(it was lunchtime). Service was outstanding. Recommended if you’re looking for a local place in the neighborhood.

Very cute and low key candle lit environment. Decent service(not the best). The roasted chicken was great but the meatball appetizer and veggies were so-so. Probably wouldn’t return again, unless it was for the live jazz.

A lovely Italian eatery with a somehow vegeterian menu — great if you are in that kind of thing. Outdoor space is currently covered with scaffolding, but they decorated it with such a cute test, it is actually quite romantic.

Lovely go-to as a neighborhood restaurant. Not necessarily a destination, but a solid option if you live in or plan to be near the neighborhood. Would especially recommend the stracciatella on toasted bread as an appetizer.

Lovely Italian restaurant with a quiet and classy ambiance without feeling stuffy. The sevice is outstanding and I enjoyed my Ommegang very much(one of my favorite beers) along with a lemony Caesar salad which was lighter than most and well seasoned and a delicious cheese and grilled bread appetizer which I ate as my entrée. Will need to return for pasta bolognese. Meanwhile their latte was one of the best I have ever had(daydreaming about it now), the donut holes were good but underwhelming and served a little too hot. Loved that one can actually talk and catch up with an old friend here. Will definitely be back! Thank you Spasso!

Stopped by for restaurant week and it was a great choice. Doug was our helpful and excellent waiter. Ambiance is cozy, romantic and relaxing. Everyone presented a smile when inquiring about something and food was delivered fast. Must haves are: Stecca Panino shrimp Saccatelli bolognese Warm donuts Enjoy when you go and don’t say I didn’t warn you about it being great!

Spasso’s is closed. The food was excellent here, although the wait staff was a little less good.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time, due to the losing combination of terrible service and equally disappointing food. While ordering drinks from the bar during Happy Hour, the manager came over to tell me that I could not take advantage of the special because I had a reservation at a table, which was ready for me. While this is certainly not a deal breaker, the tone of the manager’s voice was. Nevertheless, I stayed and sat down with my two friends. I was disappointed again when I learned that dishes I saw online were no longer on the menu. Still, my friends and I proceeded to order wine, appetizers and entrees. One of the entrees, the Pork Milanese, came in a bed of olive oil. My friend asked for a clean plate, hoping a simple transfer would make for an edible dish. It did not, and she sent it back with only one bite missing. The waiter offered us a round of drinks, which we politely declined — ironic given that we could not enjoy the happy hour. When the bill came, our only round of drinks as well as the Pork Milanese were both listed. We paid and left and I will never go back. With so many incredible restaurants in the West Village and really all over Manhattan, why spend money on bad service and bad food?

Took my then fiancée(now my wife) here for a 5th anniversary dinner. I had heard great things about Spasso so i decided to take her there to celebrate what i thought would be a great dinner. The décor of the restaurant is very nice with soft lighting and a vibrant bar area. The music that was being played was very hip and chic and felt right for the atmosphere. There was outdoor seating available but we chose to sit inside to have that more intimate, romantic feel for dinner. Service was good and we had nothing to complain about it. The food. Oh the food. How underwhelmed we were with the food. I don’t know if it was an off night at spasso but it was not that great. Grilled Octopus salad — ehhh… it was alright. The octopus kind of tasted like sausage for some reason and was a bit too chewy. Grilled Mayan Prawns. — these were packed full of flavor but not really memorable. Sfoglini Rigatoni — one of their signature dishes. It is braised pork ragu with rigatoni. This was very well made but slightly on the too salty side. I’m sure there are people out there who enjoy the dish like this, but we were kind of taken aback by the overwhelming saltiness of the dish. Grilled Steak — salty. cooked perfectly but too salty. Dessert — Carrot Cake — very nice cake that was packed with great flavor and moistness. Overall Spasso underwhelmed with the food experience but the ambiance and bar area were really nice. I’m sure this is a great place to have some wine and cheese and that sort of scene, but for amazing Italian cuisine, I would go somewhere else. This is just our opinion and we mean no disrespect to the restaurant or its staff.

We felt lucky to get a table here on a Saturday night! Food seemed good, service whatever. 4 of us violently ill with food poisoning. Not so lucky. Stay clear of this place.

The worst service I have ever received by bartenders and wait staff. I have never been made to feel as uncomfortable as the rude, blonde waitress at Spasso made me feel tonight. She scolded us like children and then delusionally accused my group of friends(two married couples) of sexually harassing her and threatened to not serve us because of her lack of sense of humor and personality. We were all so confused and taken aback by her rude behavior. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by someone supposedly in the service industry. We then were told by a bald waiter that we were being«thrown out» after I tried speaking to the bar girl(who refused), and we had already paid the bill. He told us that the female bartender was more valuable to them than us, the customer. Needless to say that we will not be returning. Awful, awful service.

My friend and I came across Spasso as we were looking for a place to have dinner on a Friday night. We were drawn in by the charming lights on the outside, so we decided to pop in. Surprisingly, we walked in shortly before 8 pm and seated right away. Food: We decided to go for the 3-course Restaurant Week menu. 1) Steamed Manilla Clams 2) Rigatoni 3) Warm doughnuts All three courses were amazing. Clams were perfectly cooked while the Rigatoni was fresh and homemade. But the best part was definitely the doughnuts with warm nutella. Overall: a charming, intimate, romantic gem. Definitely worth a visit.

Came here for Restaurant Week with my dear friend. The restaurant itself has a good ambiance and I very much appreciated the coat rack by the bar. It made a real difference during this most frigid of evenings when everyone had heavy coats and the front tables are all pretty tightly fit in together. Because great minds think alike, we ordered the same exact things: stracciatella cheese to start, grilled sea bream for the main, and the dark chocolate budino. We both agreed the cheese was easily the best part of the meal, which isn’t to say the rest wasn’t good, but damn that cheese was delicious. The second best part of the meal was our very friendly server, who helped me pick a very good white wine to go with the fish, though it’s killing me now that I can’t remember which one! I just know he recommended two, one over the other, but I preferred the other. This same server also offered to pour a fresh glass for us if we could down the wine he just poured in one go. Little did he know my friend is a former sorority girl that doesn’t know how to turn down a wimpy challenge like«chug that red wine»(he did correctly assume I was a wimp, though). Happy to say he delivered on his word for her! Otherwise the seam bream was actually a little fishy tasting — just slightly, but enough that it was a small let down after the first course. The budino was pretty good; can’t really go wrong with dark chocolate dessert. If I could give half stars, Spasso would easily be 3.5 but I can’t and I’m trying to be more reserved with my 4s and 5s, so 3 it is! Maybe I’ll bump them up the next time I come back once I’ve tried some more of the regular menu.

I’ve been here once and it was during restaurant week two years ago. The menu I selected my food from was created for restaurant week patrons only and the chef did a great job picking those few selected dishes. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. a bit modern and rustic all at the same time. The service was on point and the waitress did not treat us like we were going to «cheap her out» on tip due to the menu we were ordering off of, which is sometimes the case. For the appetizer i had the stracciatella chesse on toasted bread and it was life changing. For the main course I had the riagatoni with braised pork and parm cheese — it was extremely delicious. the pork was tender. For dessert I had the panna cotta and it was very creamy but not the best I’ve had. I can’t wait to come back here again.

Came here during Restaurant Week for the lunch special. I had made a reservation for 2:30 but we didn’t get seated until 2:45. By the time we sat down we were all starving, started order but the waitress had to stop us to tell us everything they were out of. It took about 15 minutes for our appetizers to arrive, and then we waited another half hour for our entrees to arrive. We asked a couple times when our food would come, and they said it had just been put in(??). The food itself was actually good, decent size portions. When the desserts arrived another 15 minutes later, my friend and I got the same thing(chocolate mousse), but received different sized cups. His was quite a bit bigger than mine. I would pass here for brunch/lunch, go for dinner and just be prepared to wait a while.

I found this place as I was looking for a calm decent place for lunch. And was really happy that a random choice brought me to this charming place. Spaghettis were awesome and the other plates looked quite nice. The waiters were really kind and helpful. The bar and the furnitures make it really a cosy place where you would see families, couples or also a few people alone as I was. All would find their interest here ^^

Their spaghetti is deeeeeeelish! Thick noodles, cooked perfectly al dente with a very simple but richly flavorful sauce that really brings out the flavor of San Marzano tomatoes. So good. Their shaved Brussel sprouts salad reminds me of a grown up wedge salad — lightly dressed in a vinaigrette with real blue cheese crumbles to give it more depth. I’ve had their arugula salad also which was perfectly dressed and actually seasoned well. My friend who is a regular here loves all of their meat dishes and pasta with meat ragu sauces. Always a great meal paired with a lovely selection of wine. Nice, intimate ambiance that’s perfect for a celebratory group event, double date or a romantic dinner for two. Also, their bar is nice and comfy to drop in for a quick drink before going out on the town in West Village.

Spasso is pretty awesome. Plain and simple good Italian. The space is intimate and perfect for a date… I would love to get dinner at their bar next time. I had the rigatoni and couldn’t have been happier. Overall a very solid establishment. My only complaints: Wine list is expensivo with every bottle north of $ 60(and going much higher quickly). The brussels sprouts were overly salty(but still delicious). That’s all I have for now and I will be back.
