This is one of the few places in midtown or the Upper East Side where I can get Doughnut Plant Doughnuts. For that reason, this place gets good ratings. Their coffee is good, certainly drinkable, but not wonderful. But, with a nice Coconut Cream Doughnut, it makes for a very satisfying breakfast. They also have treats that they get from all over town, like other Donuts from Dough, Babka, candies and munchies from all over, all of which are good. But my favorite is the Doughnut Plant donuts. I come here for breakfast a few times when I’m in New York.

I recall reading the WSJ, the smell of my leather briefcase, and the hot cup of Dean & Deluca coffee in my hand. It was almost too perfect a beginning to my NYC jaunt. Jack Campbell would have agreed. There I was in the middle of it all, in somewhat of an unexpected trip. Feeling starry eyed at the prospect of two nights out on the town. Or maybe it was me feeling star struck since I was there so randomly next to Hank freakin’ Azaria in the same shop – soaking in that New York pace and vibe. Or maybe it was just my foggy, mis-firing mental state of mind from the SFO-EWR red eye I just got off of. Either way, I had that wonderful cup of joe that hit the spot and woke me up. Brought order to chaos; greased up the gears. Thanks, D&D. 5⁄5 Would do again.

Horrible service, stale food, and no one cares. I work accros the street from this place and I avoid it as much as possible. It’s 7 am, the place is empty, and it took me 15 minutes to get a pre-cooked microwaved sandwich and a burnt coffee for $ 12. Impossible to get anything from this place around lunch time. The tourists for some reason don’t know how to order food, perhaps due to lack of menu posted anywhere. Employees work reduclously slow and clearly don’t care about anything. I don’t understand how this place is still in business.

The dessert at this Dean and Deluca’s is pretty bad. The first time I went I got a muffin. It was like rubber and seemed elastic and spongey. Thought that perhaps muffins were their weak points. Went back today and got a chocolate chip cookie. The bottom or the cookie was wet and soggy. Ugh. I don’t know if other dean and deluca stores are like this, but don’t buy the pastries here! Better off with Starbucks a block away.

Coffee is again something that’s really hard to mess up; unless… Unless its from DD — sorry if i’m offended the DD lovers out there…

I’ve only been here once and that was about 5 minutes before I started writing this review. I popped in for an afternoon pick me up soy latte and a cupcake. I opted for the peanut butter chocolate cupcake. After a short wait, I received my latte and my cupcake and headed back to the office. The latte was really gross. I have no idea what happened, but it was almost slightly salty. Ick. The cupcake was ok, but nothing to write home about. Waste of money.

Not my cup of coffee but if you like the taste of chai and this is your place. But the people here are nice so I’ll give them a 3 star! :)

Extremely good sandwiches made with gourmet quality ingredients. There is a great selection of goodies: cookies, quiches, specialty chips(carrot chips), freshly made lemonade and more. I will pop in to a Dean and Deluca when I want a sandwich lunch treat as it’s hard to walk out without spending nearly $ 20 on lunch. I can not justify that on a daily or weekly basis for a sandwich and snack. Check out service is abysmally slow and the place is fraught with EU tourists. That alone leaves me to be even less inclined to venture in despite the good food.

Very mediocre D&D location. I think this place has been getting it’s clock cleaned since Bouchon opened up around the corner. I had very decent food here, and can’t complain about anything. But this definitely is not the flagship of the D&D empire, or anywhere close.

Hire more employes, pleez! It shouldn’t take 20 minutes to get coffee in the morning on the way to work. There are other just as popular places for coffee like Joe’s at Grand Central or Orens’ on Lex that have 20 people on line at any given time, but the line moves! The employees hustle! 2 people behind the counter from 7– 10AM is not good enough. You need one person dedicated to making lattes and speciality drinks, while one or TWO people run the food, and one or TWO people man the registers. I come in practically every morning(when I have 20 minutes to spare) because the coffee is very good and I love their whole wheat croissants from Balthazar and the donuts from the Doughnut Plant… but come on!

Tried happy hour again today, and there was a reasonable line — only 1 person in front of me! I did go one hour into happy hour, so perhaps 4pm on the dot is a bad time to go. I tried the house blend coffee and it was delicious. Also tried the house vanilla cupcake and it was freaking awesome. Perfectly moist, the perfect amount of sweetness. Absolutely amazing. I am a cupcake addict, have tried at least a dozen places in NYC, and this cupcake holds its own among the best of the city. Normally $ 3, but was $ 1.50 on happy hour special. Fantastic!
