I’ve been on a quest to find the perfect donut I’ve long believed it can’t be the cronut By way of Eater I came to this lauded bakery That has food both sweet and savory In particular I sought the bambolini An Italian donut, a favorite of Mussolini Twice the bambolini was lauded on ; Reasonably I thought the lini’ must be da bomb. One morning I ventured to Sullivan Street Two bambolinis there sat, coy and petite I ordered the last two with swift decision Bamb-bastic delight, I envisioned Tense with fright, I took a bite. For a donut acolyte, it was merely alright.

Very few places function as breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner spots all in one. This place manages it and has become a fixture in the neighborhood. The food is excellent and everyone knows this, but still probably under-appreciated because of the casual feel. The employees are always friendly(and all play with our kid). We are moving and very sad to leave the place!

Came in search of a real, fresh croissant. Plain and chocolate were excellent, but the vanilla bomboloni stole the show. The cream is so good, in a fresh, homemade way. Espresso drinks were solid. Really enjoyed the vibe, and the staff were friendly, even tolerating a few questions about Jim.

The food is closer to 4.5 stars… I admit they«got me» when I saw fresh«rich man’s» brioche(lots of butter) with various toppings right by the cash register. We got one… wish we had gotten several. These guys make good bread(and I live with a baker). I’m not sure that I’ve had better brioche. The sandwiches we had were good too, but again the highlight was the bread. That said, we’re a bit torn on this place because the guy making the sandwiches had this huge uncontained beard and shaggy, again uncontained, mane. These are all very obvious health violations in every state of the union. I half expected to see at least a couple of hairs in my sandwich but luckily I dodged that bullet. Still it just looks wrong and unsanitary and the owner really should address this… In any case, great bread, good sandwiches, difficult for us to return even if we wanted to…

This is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat or cup of coffee. The bread is amazing. A very relaxed environment with tables and plenty of space to hang out. There is also bar seating.

I always feel bad when one person affect the whole review of a place. We just moved to Chelsea, a couple of months ago, and my wife misses our life in Spain, where we were regulars to many shops. And so she decided she wanted to be a regular in a bakery. Last Friday we went for the first time, and this tall man served us. He was extremely nice, he gave us a piece of the bread we were going to buy before we bought it. At least for me, coming from Spain, it is a bit scary walking into this bakery, where bread is so different to the one in my country. He was amazing, I would have given this place a 4 or 5 * review. However, today, a girl was helping us. We asked if we could try another bread before buying it, and she said that they don’t give samples. It is dissapointing to hear that when you see all the breads they have already started, as they also use them for sandwiches. When you are trying to develop a business in a neighborhood I believe there are so many little things you can do, and one is give a little piece of bread to somebody that is going to spend 5.25USD on a loaf. Will we go back? Probably, the bread is good. I just didn’t like at all the lady in the counter today :(

Stopped by here yesterday for a vanilla cream bomboloni($ 3.75). Much better than a boston cream donut but still short of great, which was diappointing as the server said this was their most known item and is a customer favorite. The cream, while tasty, was really heavy and made me feel like I had eaten 2 or 3 bombolonis. The place is cute with lots of seating but very dimly lit. Very limited pastry options.

Went in for lunch, knowing their downtown location already. I haven’t been in to a Sullivan St in about 10 years but I know they make amazing bread. I ordered the BLT and had mixed expectations until I saw the sandwich. It was basically pork belly! Beware, the bacon is soft, and the crunch comes from the lettuce and the delicious bread. If you don’t like soft(pork belly like) bacon you may want to request they cook it longer. The tomato gives it a nice sweetness. $ 10, money well spent.

Stopped by here for breakfast and I have to say the lattes are spot on. Ilan who was our barista is so dedicated to his job and highly knowledgable about latte making. His drinks are consistent and perfect. The foam was so thick and rich, I seriously recommend it. On to the food, I ordered the Italiano and it was simple but tasty. I like how all the flavors meshed in so well together and no one flavor overwhelmed the other. The poached eggs were also made to perfection. Overall this place had a perfect ambiance, great food, great drinks, attentive workers. Two thumbs up.

This is my new neighborhood go-to place for a quick bite in the morning or at lunch. Their baked goods are amazing, we’ve liked everything we’ve tried. We really like their breakfast sandwiches, especially the one with chorizo. The eggs are so CREAMY! I just had their Manzo sandwich. The combination of beef, cucumbers, onions are delish, but the skin on the bread was so tough, my teeth were toured at the end. I’m kinda disappointed that I paid $ 14 for this sandwich. Service is quick.

Overrated. Waited 15 min for a to-go $ 10 bowl that was supposed to have eggs, seasonal veggies and toast. I got eggs, potatoes and 3 pieces of charred mushroom. Never again!

Love this place! We always come for breakfast. It’s small, seats Mayb 25. The food is very good. They serve a complimtary bowl of cornbread squares drizzled with carmel sauce… delicious. It’s a nice cool spot. We have brought many friends here over the years. Never disappoints.

Clean yet warm space is home to so many baked magic. Love the aroma in here, filled with wheat and sugar, and not over-powered by coffee It’S DAYMNIMPORTANTTHEYHAVEBREADLOAFGUYS. I always believe a «bakery» without bread loafs is not a real bakery(uhum, Financier watch out) Also did I mention the melt in your mouth poached eggs? What keeps it from 5-star status is the confusing ordering system. There’s no clear sign to form a line and the staff members kept shifting around, so it’s hard to pin them down.

Hot chocolate review: Blizzard bound Saturday, post Jun Men ramen, pre subway closing. I head for a hot chocolate fix. Yes! They’re open before MTA shuts down subway. The hot chocolate with a flower on top is pretty damn near perfect– not overly rich, real chocolate paired with a chocolate chip cookie. My friends have the panettone & raspberry Danish respectively– both stellar. Took bread to go. The joint was jump in’ & we shut it down @ 2PM. Thank you for being my neighborhood bakery. Lucky we are in Chelsea.

I came in to get out of the cold and for a snack. It was about half an hour to close on a Saturday. The place was pretty empty. Quiet & peaceful, but not dead. I guess they get more of a brunch crowd. I ordered a zucchini pizza($ 4) and sat down to munch. This is a delicious meatless pizza. It has a a thin crust topped with an ample amount of thin strips of zucchini and cheese. I only wished I had stopped by earlier in the day, because there were hardly any pastries left at the end of the day.

I loved this bakery — they had some baked goods with unique flavors. I had prosciutto sandwich — it was a large portion, a lot of fresh tasty bread, prosciutto and out of the world mozzarella! Mozzarella was probably buratta, it was so soft and fresh and it’s texture just made this sandwich work. My husband had Originale sandwich with crispy prosciutto and egg omelette. This sandwich was smaller, but also cheaper than prosciutto sandwich. The egg omelette was the highlight of this sandwich — it was so soft and somehow it worked magically in that sandwich. And I’m generally not omelette fan. We also tried brioche with prosciutto and mascarpone — it also had so caraway or fennel seeds. It was a great combination of salty and sweet. If I go back, I’ll get a few of these. For dessert we had 2 brioches, one with coconut and mascarpone and the other one with chocolate chips. They were good — nothing special tough, just sweet baked goods. There are some sittings inside. It looks like a lot of locals stop by to buy fresh bread here. The staff is really nice. We also had their coffee, regular and cappuccino — it was good.

I stopped by here to pick up a sandwich before heading back home. The cashier recommended the pollo club and I’m glad I listened! It was a fantastic panini with moist chicken and awesome flavors! They had some pickled veggies which were really tasty and the portion size was good for the price(especially for NYC). They included a small portion of the extra veggies on the side which was great. The panini was freshly made and overall just really delicious. My friend stops by here all the time for the fresh bread and I will definitely be returning next time I’m in town.

Paninis are made to order here and we saw many people came here just for their bread and other baked goods. Their bomboloni looks super tasty and you can get it with cream or jam. We only got to try their paninis but they have many other items such as pizza, soups, and salads. We got the Manzo roast beef and Pollo. The roast beef was spicier than expected plus the raw onions but nonetheless still tasty if you like spicy food. For the Pollo panini, the bread was toasty and the chicken was very flavorful, not dry at all. The peppers inside were also very tasty. Their portions are just right so you won’t feel overstuffed after eating.

I definitely love the look of the bakery. Simple, warm, sturdy feeling. Taste of pastries here are great. Yet I find it hard to distinguish it from other bakeries.

You know when sometimes you go to a place with really great Unilocal reviews and sometimes you’re über disappointed? NOTHERE. I had the most amazing breakfast here after a really disappointing dinner last night. Canotto Rapini(broccoli rabe, garlic, chili flakes, mascarpone, gruyère)-A little sweet, a lot savory. Just the perfect combination of flavors that will ever enter your mouth. Bambolini(Italian doughnut with housemade vanilla cream)-So light yet so amazing. I had to get a jam and chocolate one to-go. I can’t believe I’ve missed out on Sullivan Street Bakery for so long. This will definitely be a staple of mine!
