I had a great great great experience here. Ambiance was very subdued and relaxing. Very nice West Village restaurant. The panko crusted egg with bacon milk foam was a really cool eating experience. The foam added a lot to the panko egg. A very complex but simple flavor. I had the striped sea bass order, but had to substitute the bass for fluke. I would have likely preferred bass, but the fluke was amazing. The lobster broth was the perfect compliment to the fish. The saltiness of the broth really brought out the flavor of the fish. The red chard added that little bit of texture that was needed to make the dish come together.

Through Village Vines, we got 30% off our entire meal, and we were lucky enough to get there mere days after they switched over to their fall menu. Although I was bummed not to be able to get the Black Pepper Fettucine again, I was a very happy girl to ate what I ate. We started with the Roasted Beet Salad with braeburn apples(of course), spicy walnuts and goat cheese fondue. I can help but be in love with the combination of beets and goat cheese. It’s pretty much heaven. Next, I had the Breast of Long Island Duck with kohlrabi, wheat berries, duck confit and bing cherry sauce. This was a great fall dish. The warmth of the cherries and wheat berries mixed with the crispy duck confit was great and I wanted more when it was done. Lastly, my mom and my favorite candy bar is Almond Joy so we were thrilled to see a «deconstructed» version almond cake, coconut, dark chocolate and coconut squash sauce on the dessert menu. Although I’m pretty in love with the candy bar, this was a wonderful, more sophisticated version. All in all, it was great to finally eat an entire meal at this West Village gem and I can’t wait to go back!

Loud and rushed — 2 things I was not looking for when I planned a romantic dinner here. Our waitress asked if we were ready to order 3 times — the first time, we hadn’t ordered our cocktails yet. The second time, our menus were still open and our just-ordered cocktails had not yet arrived. The third time was when she brought our drinks over. They try so hard to get you in and out of this place, you end up feeling like someone’s pushing you out of your chair the whole time. Very unpleasant. In addition, as the place filled up, the noise level rose to the point where my ears actually hurt — not an exaggeration. I suppose they’re trying to be «hip» with a design that accentuates the crowd noise, but the end result is that we spent our«romantic evening» yelling at each other. The food is the only place where they shine — the vegetarian platter was outstanding, the striped bass was delicious — the sauce and chorizo really brought out the wonderful flavors in the fish. The appetizers were also quite good, especially the Panko country egg. Overall, I would not bother coming back here when there are so many other restaurants that aren’t trying so hard to turn over a table.

My girlfriends and I grabbed a delicious brunch at Braeburn in the West Village. The food was very bourgeois and I felt like I was eating in a Pottery Barn. The prices were great especially since it was Restaurant Week, and we each got a complimentary mimosa or bloody mary. Braeburn’s bloody was acceptable– not spicy enough for my taste but was kind of special bc it had picked string beans to munch on with it. Then I had the lobster knuckle sandwich which was just delectable and vanilla donut holes with apple cider syrup for dessert. Overall, we had a great meal and we’re already planning our next brunch there with the 20% off coupon they gave us when we left.

A step into Braeburn is like entering someone’s rustic, candlelit dining room, perhaps located within a ski chalet or cozy cottage. The home-style feel engulfs everything within the space, from the décor to the gourmet comfort fare and namesake sparkling ciders. My friend and I met for dinner at Braeburn on a cool and rainy evening, but our entrance put us instantly at ease. The hostess promptly greeted us, checked our wet garments, and ushered us to a cozy table in the main dining room. Once we were settled, we munched on some delicious cheddar and chive buttermilk biscuits, rushing through one each and quickly ordering seconds. We washed down the moist, cheesy bread with the affordable ‘Antoinette’ Duchee de Longuville Sparkling Apple Cider from Normandy. Our massive glasses each cost a reasonable $ 8 and provided a sweet, bubbly compliment to the tantalizing rolls. Though we were ploughing through our scrumptious biscuits, we still thought it would be wise to satisfy our raging appetites with an appetizer. We decided to share the Rhode Island Squid, which was actually a little disappointing. The tentacles were properly cooked, but its accompanying broth of green olives, piquillo pepper, and meyer lemon packed an overwhelming kick of spicy pepper. My entrée, however, elevated the meal back up to four-star status. My quarter of a Pennsylvania Roasted Chicken was precisely basted and super moist. It was accompanied by a buttery, decadent parsnip purée, which provided what I would like to believe was a healthier alternative to mashed potatoes. The rustic dish was topped off with a smokey bacon sauce. The hearty flavor and charred essence was the star of the plate, bringing all of the elements together. With satisfied bellies and contented grins on our faces, my friend and I reclaimed our coats and braced ourselves for our exit back into the eye of the storm. Though we were sad to leave our safe, warm haven at Braeburn, we were doing so without the chips we had on our shoulders when we had first arrived. The hostess sent us off with small bags of mini cookies and a cheerful goodbye, leaving us wondering when we could return to experience the Braeburn hospitality.

I’m kind of shocked at the tepid reviews given here. I found Braeburn to be fantastic, superlative even. We went in early Dec last year, as I had heard the space finally opened back up and it seemed cool. Classy, but not stuffy or pretentious, and not trite like a lot of other NY spots that live off of reputation. It was a Thursday night, so I figured probably a good time to see/taste their showcase, but not necessarily have to deal with throngs of people. I was right. The room is sort of cozy minimalist. Simple, but with a nice aesthetic. As others have said, it is rather loud, though. I think the hard wood floors and the simple layout produce challenging acoustics, so with a few boisterous groups, it’s bound to get loud. With that said, we didn’t mind it and were able to have nice conversation without straining. The service was fantastic and friendly. The menu, which I understand changes fairly regularly, was very inviting. We shared the scallop app, which was delicious, and went with a suggested bottle of Austrian Pinot Noir that was superb. For the mains, we tried the duck and the daily special, which was a hand-rolled pasta dish with rabbit. MMmmmmm. Tutti perfecto! In retrospect, I realize we botched our dessert order, but it was still very tasty. We had the pumpkin cheesecake, but I’ve heard that the apple cider doughnuts are the way to go. Oh, well… next time. They were also just about to start offering brunch, but we haven’t been back to try yet, so I’m curious how that is. We definitely intend to return, just haven’t had the chance yet. Overall, this is a great W. Village neighborhood spot, welcoming vibe, good service, and delicious food. It’s not cheap, but you can enjoy a fine meal for two w/o having to break the bank here. Highly recommended.

I had my birthday dinner at this cute new hidden gem in the Weast Village where BraeBurn was all our first time to experience since its recently opened. The unlimited biscuits and eggplant free appetizers were just wonderful. I highly recommend the tender succulent duck. The service was excellent, the food was ALL good, and the bread pudding was the best birthday dessert to end the great feast. I want to go back for brunch.
