Reliable neighborhood gem with friendly service. I’ve been going to Vendome for years and they are consistently good and the delivery is super fast. I usually order the steak frites and it never fails. I’ve also had the moules, the Amish chicken, the tuna and beef tartare, escargot and they are all very well done and delish.

This is really difficult for me because i really like the food here, but tonight I was there & the chef was talking by the bar with other patrons of no other than a mice infestation. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know where the mice infestation was(his home or in the restaurant) but, who talks about rodents around other patrons that are trying to enjoy their $ 30 entrée? I will never go back !!!

So far, I like this place. I ordered the scallops with mushroom sauce risotto and it was wonderful! The mushroom sauce was full of flavor but for the price, I would have rather had whole scallops than sliced thin — or maybe a little more. But the risotto was delicious. The mussels was prepared with ingredients of escargot which I liked. You need to take some bread and make sure to pickup that delicious sauce. The sole was good as well — but a bit pricey. I think anything with MP next I the dish means over $ 50 for that entrée. The floating island did not have enough crème Anglaise or sauce. The Tart Tatin is not very sweet. It’s more like just an apple tart and not the traditional Tart Tatin — traditional. I did not order a salad or vegetable as my main course was already in the $ 50 range. This place is good but I wish they would not price my scallop in the $ 50s range. After all, my dish probably is equivalent only to 3 whole scallops. Or at least include a salad.

This is my Monday through Thursday place. If I’m not there I’m usually ordering in. Artichoke Salad with Mustard Dressing is so refreshing. The Red Beet Carpaaccio has a warm goat cheese disk ever so lightly breaded. Almost a dusting of bread crumbs but the combination of the cold beets with warm goat cheese is fabulous. They are quite well known for their mussels which are prepared a few different ways that my husband could eat by the dozen. I always order the Roasted Sea Scallops which are in a creamy yet light sauce with an orzo risotto. I probably order the scallops three times a week and I never liked scallops until I tried them at Bistro Vendome. My husband had odered them and begged me to try one telling me try it they don’t taste like fish. Well PS we swapped plates and from then on my love affair with Bistro Vendome has continued. The Filet Mignon is hands down better then any steakhouse in NYC.

This was my first French meal. I really loved the rack of lamb(medium rare) with potatoes gratin. The lamb was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The potatoes gratin are also heavenly. They are rich, and the potatoes mesh well with the«gratin.» It encourages me to continue in my quest for French food :)

Amazing food: Mussels and tuna tartar are must-try appetizers — they do an amazing job with them(one of the best i’ve had in all of NYC). Sea scallops, duck, salmon, lamb, steak — all are amazing entrees. Desserts… I can’t even start to describe the array of fluffy, flavorful, texture-rich, yet very simple creations… Great for weekend brunch. Service: Attentive and consistent. I used to live 3 blocks away and would occasionally pop in for dinner or brunch — seeing same faces throughout a decent span of time lets me know people who work there like their job… Which means they’ll work in such a way that would allow them to keep it = great service. Absolutely love this place. One of the few things i miss about living in that neighborhood. Many places nearby do not serve the value they charge for — this place is worth every $, and the prices are average for the area. I would say, Bistro Vendome is a neighborhood gem.

I really enjoy this place. They have a great bar and the food is really pretty good for a local place. Mussels and fries are its specialty and there have several different preparations for the mussels. The lobster caesar salad at lunch is divine. The rest of the food is well prepared and ingredients are fresh. Desserts are fabulous. Wine selection by the glass is pretty good. I like the husband and wife owners(he’s the chef); they are friendly and relaxed yet professional. Some of the staff could learn a little more professionalism and friendliness.

This is a SOLID3 star review only because of their inattentive and slow service. Food is really good and the restaurant is really beautiful. The fact that they had a lot of empty tables on a Friday night only confirms that local clientele demands better service. Will not be back

An Upper East Side Bistro says it all. I had the scallops and the French Onion soup. The food and service were of high quality, but the value was only what you would expect in this trendy neighborhood. Would I search this place out – probably not, but would not hesitate to return. I would love to try some other dishes!

How did I not know about this neighborhood gem? Just had a great dinner on the terrace. I had the hanger steak and fries, cooked to perfection. My boyfriend had the duck confit, which he raved about. For dessert we shared the chocolate fondant and I must quote my boyfriend«I could just lick this plate like a dog.» Okay.. .guess he liked it! We are going to be regulars here. Service was top notch.

I really enjoyed this place. I love French food so that’s unsurprising but they really execute well for a reasonable price in a nice location. Definitely a frequent spot for the Sutton Place set the escargot and chicken liver pâté were quite tasty. My steak was well prepared and the cut was nice. It’s a bit of a walk from Lex but I’ll be back for sure.

I first wrote about the Bistro Vendome two years ago and gave it four stars. Since then I’ve been there a dozen times and have changed my rating to five stars. In terms of New York bistros, this is as good as it gets. First the ambiance: the restaurant is in a narrow East Side townhouse and has three levels, plus an attractive bar and a very pleasant terrace for summer dining. The rooms are elegant and understated. I’ve sat on all three levels and the terrace. There are no «bad tables.» The crowd is very East Side and elegant and understated as well. Next the food: that gets better all the time. The cuisine is absolutely reliable and consistently good, with an emphasis on old favorites but with some seasonal creativity. The escargots are the best in town: juicy in a pungent garlic, butter, and herb sauce. They were still sizzling when they were brought to our table. Tonight we shared a dozen. I had the steak tartare(with frites and salad) which had a nice spicy kick to it. I would have liked some toast points and capers as well, but c’est la vie. My companions feasted on the filet mignon and the Amish chicken. Dessert was chocolate fondant and apple tart. My guests were from North Carolina and raved. I was glad to show them what they were missing in Greensboro. And finally, the service. What’s a good French restaurant without a sexy, slightly sardonic, French waiter? That would be Max, the bartender, who did double duty as our waiter. I’m not sure why — perhaps they were short-handed or perhaps it was because we were seated closest to the bar. In any case, his service met the standards of the restaurant. He was attentive, efficient, knowledgeable, and personable. That he was attractive to boot enhanced the experience.

This is your standard French/quality-food/older crowd Midtown East restaurant. This service is good, and the food is great. I have had the Hanger Steak and the Amish Chicken. I know the Mussels are also very good. Vendome is not where you go if you want an «exciting» meal, but if you want a quiet atmosphere, good service and quality food, it is a safe bet.

Went there for valentine’s to day dinner 2015 and it was wonderful! Staff was very courteous and helpful and the food was delicious! I had tuna tar tar and scallops with risotto and everything a as to perfection. They even let me taste a couple wines before buying a bottle. Very enjoyable experience.

Just got lunch here with my dad. Sat outside which was nice and comfortable, the inside is a bit daunting. Service was good and attentive. here’s the food review: For appetizers I got the yellowfin tuna tartare, which was really good. Not too much added so you can really taste the fish, which I like. My dad got the soup of the day, chilled potato leek soup. It wasn’t bad but a bit lackluster. For the main dish I got the mussels mariniere, which is white wine and garlic sauce. Huuuge portion but the sauce was pretty watery. Don’t be shy with the wine guys! Good place for lunch. Felt like I wasn’t in nyc for a minute there.

This was the first restaurant on a list of places with Easter specials that I contacted which had availability for lunch the day before the holiday. The special was $ 35, included a drink, appetizer and an entrée. I got a kir royal which nice, and the goat-cheese cake(an awkward name which conjusred up images of pieces of goat meat dabbled in a NY style creamy cheese cake…), which was greasy and the cheese coagulated and lumpy. The salad it came with was warm and over-dressed. My entre, the moules mariniere, were the worst mussels I’ve ever had. Wimpy. The sauce was watery, so weak, unflavorful and tasteless. The fries have truffle oil on them, which I didn’t like with the watery«sauce» the mussels were in. My companion hadn’t had truffle oil before, and was put off by the unusual taste. There was no mention of the truffle oil. What is someone is allergic to mushrooms? My companion’s soup was the best thing, her eggs benedict looked ok but she said she’d had better. Bread and hard, refrigerated butter chiseled out a ramekin were the best parts of this meal. The service was great. The food was not.

I got lots of water but I couldn’t get a drink. Met a friend for dinner and I got there on time so went to the table. He phoned to say he’d be late so I let the maitre d’ know. The busboys filled my water glass but the waiter never came over to ask if I wanted to a drink until my friend arrived. Dude, you can monetize your table even if there’s only one person there! Anyway, the rest of the meal was fine. I had a lobster caesar salad that was quite good. Then I had the steak tartare. It was very tasty but they really didn’t offer anything on which to eat it. I like a little crostini or something to munch with the meat. I asked for some bread and they brought that. The food was good but the service was weird. Not bad, just weird, like the guy was afraid to come to our table. I’m thinking if you live in the neighborhood and visit frequently, you’d like it more.

Sooooo happy we live in the neighborhood. This place is a GEM. Love love looooove!!! We told Ricky our server that he’s going to see us here often. Everything was spectacular. And the tables outside — just perfect. FYI — don’t take it personally if Ricky doesn’t make eye contact when you walk in or say goodbye. The service overall was AWESOME. And the food — again — spectacular. I’ve attached some pix! So happy.
